Los mayores cuerpos del sistema solar han sufrido el impacto de los de menor tamaño, como asteroides y cometas, durante miles de millones de años. Estos pequeños objetos se concentra en su mayoría en diversas regiones del sistema planetario, pero algunos de los que vagan libres pueden entrañar un serio peligro para la Tierra. De ahí que se hayan diseñado proyectos para localizarlos e incluso neutralizarlos.

Muy interesante libro, básicamente gráfico, que explica y muestra como han sido los impactos meteóricos que se han dado en la Tierra y en nuestro sistema solar. En cierta manera, se complementa con el otro libro de la misma colección titulado LOS METEOROIDES.
