Awesome! I may be biased since I spent a weekend at The Cove listening to Don Wilton preach back in 2001. I don't think I've heard a better storyteller and preacher. So as I read the book, I heard his South African accent. Extremely inspiring to me, to hear the story of two guys so completely dedicated to our Savior Jesus.

Love reading about this man who touched the hearts and souls of millions, including mine! What an honor Rev Hilton had to be Billy Graham’s pastor and to share so many tender hours with him. Gal 6:14 “May I never boast about anything except to cross of our Lord Jesus Christ.”

“This little light 💡 of mine, I’m going to let it shine ✨!”

Beautiful story!

I loved the whole book! It was a simply beautiful story of a godly friendship that could have only happened because of Jesus Christ.

A book telling about Jesus

What a wonderful book telling about how a man loved Jesus and served him. Inspirational, wonderful, and a beautiful picture of a surrendered life.

SUMMER SALAD no meat included

This is a tasteful personal portraiture of Billy Graham, the world's most travelled and most heard Christian gospel evangelist of the twentieth century.

He was the chaplain and friend of Presidents, Kings and Queens (including Queen Elizabeth II, their friendship recently featured, in The Crown of Netflix fame), as well as the man that millions of people worldwide, heard at their local arena or on their local TV station. His listeners were pleaded with, to hear what the Bible says and come forward, to receive forgiveness, at the cross of Jesus Christ. Millions did so and became faithful long serving members of many churches, across the World.

Don Wilton, the author became Billy Graham's closer friend, when the Grahams decided to become official members of the nearby Baptist church, that Don pastored. Especially due to Billy's celebrity status, it was too difficult for Billy and Ruth his wife, to fellowship in person, at the local church. In consequence, Don's pastoral visits over coffee and chat began and became more frequent, when Billy was travelling less frequently and facing the challenges of old age.

The author relates many biographical stories about Billy, including the sharing of small spiritual lessons, that Billy imparted over their coffee times, as well as short stories of Billy’s boyhood and beginnings, as a young evangelist.

It’s a very enchanting and enjoyable salad days book to read, despite the scarcity of any real juicy meat, apart from their being, one expressed regret on Billy Graham’s part.

Anything that remotely reflects the life of Billy Graham in a truthful way I am all in. Don Wilton certainly spent a great deal of time with Billy. What an experience that must have been for this pastor to be picked by Billy as his personal pastor. I was little bit disappointed in the book overall because I really didn't learn very much, but Wilton did put a disclaimer at the top of the book that many of these conversations on Saturdays throughout the years were of course confidential. There were a few tidbits here and there and pictures scattered throughout that were interesting. The story about Louie Zamperini was pretty funny. It came out loud and clear that Graham was very humble and gave all the credit to God for his relationships with all the movers and shakers he had contact with over the years. The advice Don got from Billly one day about preaching to the trees inspired the minister and prepared him ironically for the pandemic and preaching to an empty church. I did learn that Billy Graham's mantra for his ministry was found in Galatians 6:14: "But God forbid that I should boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ."
