Fatale book two in the Venus duet by Alex L. Michaels and Luna Lay far exceeded all my expectations!! From the moment I finished Venus book one in the duet I could not imagine how Stella would decide between Roman and Colt. These two men were there for her in some of the most complicated times of her life and before she knew it her life was so full of these two men that she couldn't possibly say goodbye to either of them. What happens now when she must decide? Colt, her first love and the man whose presence she recognizes immediately when he walks into a room. Roman, a man who for all intense and purposes is a bad boy who might just break her heart but is someone else entirely when he is with her.

In this book we really see Stella becoming the woman she was always meant to be. Once shy and timid she is realizing that the only way she is going to be able to live the life she wants to live is by being true to herself. Consequences be damned, Venus is going to take what she wants. When a scandal threatens to shatter the life that she is finally living for herself she must put her happiness aside to make sure the two men she loves are safe. At only 18 she might seem naïve but amongst all that pain, grief and longing for what could have been Stella knows what she needs to do. She needs to say goodbye....

After reading book one you were given a brief tease at what might happen if Stella, Roman and Colt were to come together in a more sensual way and while I am not saying you get that in this book what does happen is some serious pearl clutching magic!!

Now for my conclusion of Fatale, the ending left me shook!! As with any book, you build this beautiful ending up in your head and if it doesn't go the way you want it to you feel let down. While the ending didn't go like I expected at all it was so much better because finally Stella is no longer that 18-year-old who doesn't know what she wants. She is the woman who has finally taken what she wants and is no longer afraid of the consequences.

Five deliciously sexy and swoon worthy stars for the conclusion in the Venus duet by Alex L. Michaels and Luna Lay!!

Stella has it bad for two men, she has been intimate with both of them but at different levels which only confuses her more. Is it okay to want two men? And the fact that they are old enough to have fathered her also plays on her mind…. And that they are enemies of sorts just adds another complication to her young and inexperienced thoughts.

When a tragedy impacts her life, the guys are forgotten as she struggles to cope with yet more changes in her life. All she has ever known is the life she has had with her father in their house. She is at a very vulnerable stage in life, her lack of street smarts and naivety definitely aren’t helping her make the right choices.

She is trying to do the right thing and honouring the rules her father laid out for her. Dating the guy he chose for her is a start if she wants to live the life he wished for her. The problem is that Brandon definitely does not float her boat and she cannot stop thinking about Roman and Colt.

When Stella finds herself in a terrifying situation, her two gorgeous knights in shining armour are there for her and she is reunited with the men she cannot stop thinking of. She now knows who she wants to be with but the fear of what people will think is still holding her back.

Is it possible to be in love with two men at once? After doing what was expected of her for so long she wants to choose her own pathway. The question is which man will it lead her to?

This is the second part of the Venus duet and is the continuation of the love triangle between Stella, Roman and Colt. This duet features a very inexperienced, naive young girl on the cusp of womanhood. It is pure escapism fiction and really easy to read.

Fatale picks up very soon after Venus left off. Stella is heartbroken by the events in her life, the choices she has made and the consequences of those choices. As she takes some time away from her hometown and her two loves, life delivers her another blow and at this point we start to really see her grow into the woman she wishes to be; not the naive teen she was. We see her decide to start taking life on her own terms and demand what she wants.

After Part 1, I could not see how Stella could ever choose between Colt and Roman. Colt is so obviously meant to be hers - she feels a soul deep connection to him. Yet, Roman, OMG Roman! He is so sweet with her, so different from how people see him and is clearly completely and utterly in love with her. And Stella falls completely and utterly for him too. Despite a couple more REALLY stupid decisions by Stella, we see the beginnings of how the three begin to find their way together.

However, all is not as it seems and that ending - it did not go any way I expected it to! I felt quite some consternation as I was reading it but ultimately loved how it worked out.

This second book was also a quick read with a lot jammed into it. I will say that by the end of the second book Stella went from being this little fragile, scared girl to gaining some sort of backbone. It was somewhat of a 180 turnabout.

Naturally there is an attraction for her to each of these men and most of the book is about her first kisses, and sexual acts with each of them. There's also some mystery surrounding her father. I really did like the storyline a lot. I am also glad that the heroine changed and was more believable in the second book. If she hadn't, I'm not sure I could have read it. I found this duet to be entertaining and definitely enjoyed the ending.

After reading Venus, which was a 5 star read for me 😍... somehow I'd expected 'more' from Fatale? Don't get me wrong; I still loved the characters and I absolutely enjoyed this book! 😍 It's just that I have a feeling that the potential of the story has not been fully exploited? For me, there were some loose ends; things that weren't sufficiently explained and/or felt unfinished (more questions than answers). Hence my 4 star rating for this complete duet.
A few things that struck me... ⚠️⚠️
Thank you Alex L. Michaels | Luna Lay for the ARC. 😘

“FATALE”
BY ALEX L. MICHAELS AND LUNA LAY

GAH, WHAM, WOWZA, EEP! WHAT A FANTASTIC ENDING TO THIS AMAZING 5-STAR DUET. KUDOS TO ALEX L. MICHAELS AND LUNA LAY!

THIS REVIEW IS SPOILER FREE!

Gah, Wham, Wowza, Eep!!! What a great way to end this fantastic duet. Fatale, Book 2 in the Venus Duet written by Alex L. Michaels and Luna Lay was so incredibly good that I read it in only a few hours. When I say I couldn’t put it down, I really couldn’t put it down. I think it’s even better than the first book Venus and I loved that book.

The story continues where the first book ended. Growly alpha male detective, Colt, Silver tongued Mayor, Roman and beautiful Stella, the woman who can’t catch a break and is in love with these two incredible older men.

Stella, the irresistible younger woman who literally brought these grown men to their knees. If only they could see what was so clear to her. She loved them both, they couldn’t stand each other. They want her to choose between them. Regardless, Stella couldn’t, she wouldn’t ever choose between them.

After certain events, Stella is summoned out of town and is completely shattered. Then extreme guilt follows her, sending her into a depression. It’s then she decides because of choices she made, she doesn’t deserve happiness and therefore she will not return home. Not even to the men she loves. She’s totally and completely broken. Especially when a family secret was kept from her and now has to deal with that too.

So much happens in this book. Where the first book had more humor, the second book was more on the serious side. Which was completely fine with me. There is more suspense which left me holding my breath in some parts along with my eyes doing that one eye open and one eye shut thing.

Not only is she devastated by the course of events that transpired, but she is continuously fending off a certain familiar stalker. She knows she needs to take care of that situation but she needs to find the courage to do so. She’s too preoccupied at the moment.

There are seriously depraved evil doers in this book. That’s all I’m saying. Stella is put through the wringer in this story. Her bad luck never ends. Whether it’s issues of klutziness, which I might add, the “Blueberry Incident'' had me laughing out loud so much that I kept reading that part over and over again. The more I re-read it the harder I laughed.

Both male and female exes prove to be problematic. And then there were the more serious events. I was finding myself saying No no no, not again! Leave her alone. These things can’t keep happening to her. But, I will admit that it was oh so good for the reader, not so much for the heroine. LOL

When she returns home after receiving news that left her no choice but to return, it made a difference in her depression and she slowly comes back to life.

Stella is like a love magnet. Every man she meets is completely enamored with her. Some mean well in the beginning but show their true colors by the end. But she only has eyes for a certain two men. Two men who want her to choose.

Who would be the victor? It’s complicated but making the wrong decision would make them or break them...all. Sacrifice and compromise play a vital role in this story and they all prove up to the task. Things get better and just when you think all is well and hot hot hot, BAM!!!!

Evil rears its ugly head in brutal force once again. Sending Stella into harm's way.

I’m serious…. You don’t have a lot of down time/filler fluff in this story. Just when you think things are great, you are challenged as a reader once again. I would love to tell you more but no spoilers remember? Sorry not sorry. LOL.

What happens when someone Stella trusted betrays her and puts her in danger? Will her heroes help her in time? Or will Stella show her strength and take it on herself?

What happens when personal secrets are exposed, posing a risk for this trio both personally and professionally?

How will Stella choose between the two loves of her life when she knows she will never do that? I’m not telling but I will say that the wish I made in the first book came true. And at the end of the story, I was left smiling and satisfied. That’s all that matters.

These are just some of my favorite things in this book:

Humor and Suspense: The humor that I loved so much in book 1 was alive and kicking in this story as well, albeit not as much but still there were some seriously funny moments. The author’s were able to weave that humor into all the suspense. I loved that!

My favorite scene: The Blueberry Incident. I’m smiling just thinking about that scene. Freaking hilarious.

Favorite humorous line in the story: I screamed, but Roman’s lips caught the sound. “Shh, baby,” he murmured against my lips. “It’s too early to scream.”

Favorite serious lines: Sometimes miracles do happen. Birds break free from the cages. Girls grow up into women. Men bury their hatchets in the name of love. And sometimes even the wildest of hearts find the end they deserve - a happy end.

Character love:

I loved the overly growly protective nature in colt. He gave me the chills. He’s so serious and let me tell you that I fell in love with him more and more. Especially on the rare occasion he shows his softer side to Stella. Be still my heart.

I was head over heels for Roman and his silver tongue, sense of humor and one liners. I loved that he called Stella “Venus”. He’s like a pussycat with Stella one moment and a complete dominant to her the next. He made my toes curl.

I couldn’t have loved our innocent, naïve’, klutzy, sweet natured heroine more. I loved how she matured in book two. I admired her. She grew into such a lovely young woman with such incredible strength, fierce determination and enough love for two amazing men. If only she could convince them.

Favorite supporting character: Aunt Phyllis. All I will say is that everyone should have an Aunt Phyllis. I really loved her character.

The sexy time in the book was OFF THE CHARTS SIZZLING HOT!

I’m sad to say goodbye to these three people. All deserving of happiness and love. I’ll miss them.

Would I recommend this AMAZING 5-STAR read? You bet I do. I truly believe anyone reading this duet will fall in love with Stella, Colt and Roman.

Oh goodness gracious!!! Mind blown again with the second of the duet!!! These authors sure know how to write sexy, mysterious, entertaining and romantic stories! I couldn’t get enough!!!

As I was still confused from book one, I wasn’t sure how things could get much better than they were. The romance was amazing, the shock factor crazy as fudge! The sex was out of this world! Stella became my hero at some point and changed my point of view of her since growing up. The men got even better than before and I just love them hard. I wouldn’t be able to choose! Holy hotness man!! I will say that at one point I did nearly throw my phone for some stupidity that happened. I know she’s been sheltered by dang man, it was upsetting to see something happen.

I think Stella’s aunt Phyllis became one of my favorite people and Miss Walker tied for the most hated with Brandon. So many new things happened and yet you could tell they all had one thing on their minds.

Even with my dislike of Stella most of the time in book one and a moment in book two, I think this is in my top books I’ve read for 2021. Venus Duet has everything I needed to be pulled completely from a book funk and needed more and more of these people. I read one before this duet and it helped the book funk but this duet pulled me completely free and overwhelmed my senses! I hope this duet makes everyone top books of 2021 like it has mine!! Congrats!!! I wish I could get more of theses characters!!

Read it twice before I decided to write this review. Ever since I finished the first part of this book Venus, I was beyond excited to see how story ends. The way Venus ended I felt most of the romance was concentrated between Roman and Stella but still he was left hanging because he was trying to be a gentleman. ( Or I was more partial to Roman because of his bad boy image 😜)

The second part Fatale was also an absolute delight to read. This book delivered everything it promised. While reading I was picking out in my head the pros and cons of choosing either Roman or Colt alongside with Stella. Story goes about how Stella's love for Colt and Roman develops and the challenges she had to face, when it comes to light and forces her to choose between the two again. Patience and pure belief in her own love for them turns the tide and gets you the happy ever after you are looking for in this book.

Steamy hot romance scenes will set you on fire and will not disappoint you too 🙈.

I had high hopes for the second book of this duet. While the writing and the plot were fine, I found myself annoyed with Stella for most of this book. Her naivety went from refreshing to annoying for me. She blames her misfortune on her decisions yet she continues to make poor choices. However, I enjoyed the struggle between Colt and Roman. The two of them have such an interesting dynamic. There are some pretty steamy scenes in this book as well. The ending was satisfying even if the journey there was not.

Fatale is book two of the Venus Duet. The end of Venus made me want to jump right into the next. It picks up right where the first left off and I was not disappointed. I was very glad there was an HEA, the only thing personally I was not a fan of was the storyline with Brandon. I just felt Stella could have handled it all differently but this is a great read that I will recommend to others.

3-3.5 stars. Stella is growing up way too fast given how sheltered she was before and now she's had to become independent on top of discovering her womanly, sensual side. Conflicted by her feelings and thinking there's an obvious punishment for her desires, she aims to follow the straight and narrow. Seems like her plans always backfire on her and trouble continues to trail after her. Roman vs Colt, I wasn't sure which one of them she would end up choosing, but as it turns out, for purely escapist reading, she gets to have her cake and eat it, too, so Stella ends up more than happy.
