I get crushes the way some people get seasonal allergies. And sharing a house with four hot roommates is like being stuck in permanent spring. Too bad I keep getting friend-zoned.
But it’s senior year now, and I’m done pining for the impossible. Time to live it up and go out with a bang. Or a lot of bangs.
And I’m definitely, definitely not getting attached to anyone. Especially not my straight, gym-loving, football-player roommate Sam whose impressively large... smile I caught a glimpse of once. Or several times.
That’s why, when Sam asks me for help with a very special, very NSFW project so he can make a little cash, of course I agree. In the name of friendship .
And if it turns out that Sam’s more than just muscles—that he’s sweet, and smart, and a little bit filthy, and a whole lot less straight than I thought—well, that’s neither here nor there, because this time I’m gonna be smart. This time, I’m friend-zoning myself.
We’ve got a list of deliciously hot scenarios, a camera, and Sam’s huge… smile . What could possibly go wrong?
From the author of Want Me comes the third new adult college romance in the Extracurricular Activities series. Expect low angst, high heat, plenty of laughs, a flustered redhead, a gentle giant of a football player, and enough BDE to power a mid-size city.
Neve Wilder lives in the southern U.S., where the summers are hot and the winters are...sometimes cold. She is a mom to three rambunctious weebeasts who have joined forces in a mission to carpet the family home with toys and small items that really suck to step on at six in the morning.
She reads promiscuously, across multiple genres, but her favorite stories always contain an element of romance. Incidentally, this is also what she likes to write. Slow-burners with delicious tension? Yes. Whiplash-inducing page-turners, also yes. Down and dirty scorchers? Yes. And every flavor in between.
Neve isn't keen on being limited to one type of story or a single genre. If you enjoy slow burns and musicians, the Rhythm of Love series might be up your alley.
You'll find high heat, crackling sexual tension, and a variety of angst levels in the new adult Extracurricular Activities series that begins with Want Me.
Like smart-ass antiheroes and super steamy thrill rides? Stay tuned for the upcoming Wages of Sin series, which begins with Bad Habits.
If you need a good cry, Center of Gravity is a standalone age-gap slow burn that examines grief, enduring love, and imperfect characters doing their best (or worst, as it were) in shitty situations.
Neve fervently believes David Bowie was the sexiest musician to ever live, and she's always game to nerd out on anything from music to writing.
And finally, she believes that love conquers all. Except the heat index in July. Nothing can conquer that bastard.

As a philosopher once said (but don’t check my sources), sometimes we read books for the plot, and then sometimes we read them… for different reasons. Very intellectual, enlightened and not at all horny related ones. Because we romance readers are only a cultured bunch. Yessir.
With that out of the way...
The “Show Me” reading experience summed up in a single gif.
******
God, let me just start this by saying right away that Neve Wilder sure knows how to write her steam. Some books suffer from an overabundance of it (I know, such a thing sounds unlikely), yet depending on the execution said scenes can end up coming across as very forgettable and even irritating. Because, in my experience, sometimes authors might start relying on a formula when it comes to sex scenes and just stick to it religiously. “Spank me, harder!”... now rinse and repeat eighty times. Which gives the same thrilling feeling as a geriatric nap, if I may say so myself.
Because when all I’m seeing is boring repetition of catch phrases and “Insert tab A into slot B”?
For example, you know it’s bad when you find yourself counting how many times the word “cock” is used rather than what said cock is used for (Not that I’m pointing ANY fingers)
Yet all of what I just mentioned was, luckily, clearly not the case with this gloriously steamy gem. Because the chemistry between the two MCs, forever friendzoned sweet guy Jesse and deceitfully caring frat boy Sam (who also came across as a total himbo at first and I swooned!), was simply off the charts, but not only when it comes to the smut. These two developed a connection beyond just sexual gratification in my eyes, and god if that wasn’t much appreciated when it came time to care for them asides from when they were 1) bumping uglies or 2) recording the aforementioned bumping.
You see, the plot for this might be… porn parody worth it (albeit very intentionally so, considering Sam’s involvement in the adult entertainment industry via his Only Fans, and Jesse’s subsequent role in helping him out), but the tentative transition to romance and the bonding scenes between the leads were still considerably delightful to me. Both of them have distinctively different voices for each of their dual POVs, with Jesse’s hilarious lean towards dramatics and Sam’s lovable take on a stereotypical jock, but I found that together they made an amazing pair regardless of who was recounting the events. It’s rare that I find myself enjoying both POVs almost equally, but it became the case with this one.
These two became friends first, then made a move towards friends with benefits (or coworkers, considering they were technically working together to film the OF videos) and then finally to romantic love. Yet it felt organic in a way which defied the certainly porn-y setup, with the connection they developed being strengthened by their increasingly riskier sexual behaviour (one word: exhibitionism) rather than solely relying on it. Plus, the way Neve forewent the simple route of the GFY trope by including some demisexual rep was also a welcomed subversion, even if Sam’s obliviousness was a bit of a hard sell past a certain point...
But hey, sometimes your roommate turned best bro turned porn cameraman just wants to give you a handjob, and who are you to say no? And it’s definitely for the camera and not at all for either of your enjoyments. Just to secure the bag, if you will. And absolutely no homo. Even if your roommate is in fact out and proud. Because that makes all the sense…
Clearly.
Did I, however, personally mind any of that slightly tropey denial at first? The “just two bros being bros” mindset? Or found that it ruined my enjoyment of this book and couple AT ALL?
Well…
And it’s a big fat NO, in case it still needed to be said.
*****
Final thoughts?
As I’ve mentioned plenty of times in previous reviews, I rate books solely based on enjoyment, so while this might still be flawed and have a few issues that stood out to me, I’d be lying if I rated this anything but 5 stars (even if I’m rounding it up a bit). It was an extremely easy read for me, after all. Very lighthearted and just pure unadulterated fun. And again, the well-written and creative smut also helped.
...And speaking of that, not to go on a slightly spoilery tangent below but...
🚨 🚨 🚨 🚨 🚨
Can we talk about how every couple has fucked in the campus library by this point? From book one all the way to book three, I'm now convinced this is some kind of contemporary mating ritual.
You will have the main couple getting hot and heavy in the library while trying to keep a low profile (and absolutely failing). Meanwhile, campus security is out here...
"Y'all hear any moaning coming from the stairs? because I'm too busy JAMMING."
And the rest of the student population, who is probably trying to cram for finals only to notice their chair/table is sporting those suspiciously sticky stains again.
If I were them, I would start carrying my own chairs around campus just in case.
But I digress (And again, I'm rating this 5 stars so I'm clearly not bothered AT ALL by the not so subtle exhibitionism lol)
I've gotta admit that the voyeuristic aspect of Jesse first finding Sam's OnlyFans videos, then playing amateur cameraman for them was a huge draw for me in reading this one.
[My take on ginger Jesse...]
And then Sam finding out that he really enjoyed Jesse filming him getting himself off, then eventually lending a hand in the effort.
[My take on jockish Sam...]
But since this was a romance, everyone and their grandmother knew that there would be an eventual "awakening", although, even after finishing the book, I couldn't tell you if that awakening was gay, bi, or demi-sexual, as it was never fully spelled out.
That all felt fun and exciting, but in all honestly, the book felt a little too long and drawn out, so if the story had come in at around 80 pages less (i.e. 200'ish pages), I would've been happier with a slightly more concise version.
A few aspects of the book that I really liked were Sam's big, close-knit family and that once Sam had decided that Jesse was *his*, he wasn't going to let anyone or anything come between them becoming a couple. Not his family, not his friends, not even his coach.
One thing that perplexed me in the epilogue was that after graduating, Sam immediately Am I crazy in thinking that after paying $40,000+ a year, for four years, you *MIGHT* want to fucking do something with that super-expensive degree? Or am I just being too Gen-X practical and thrifty here?
Either way, I'd rate this book at around 4 stars and recommend it to fans of Wilder's previous books.

Well... the good part is that this is only 2.5 stars less than what I thought I would be giving this book.
I will admit, this rating is probably a little harsh but I had really high expectations for this and i’m just really sad that it didn’t work for me. I was so damn excited for this book, I absolutely adored the first two books in this series but this book just fell flat, really badly.
Brief summary: Jessie was cheated on by his ex 3 years ago and since then he only hooks up and all, because he doesn’t want his heart broken. He starts watching porn videos by a guy that has a big dick and he then realizes that it’s his roommate Sam, who has an OnlyFans. Jessie then starts filming the videos for Sam and then Sam decides he wants to do gay for pay (at this point, Sam identifies as straight), so they start filming videos together. And somewhere during that, they fall in love.
The thing is, I absolutely adored the first 60% of this book. I was having so much fun reading it and it was hiting all of my buttons. But somewhere along the 60% mark, I started getting really tired of them only meeting up and doing the OnlyFans videos and doing nothing else together. I really would have liked them spending time together that didn’t revolve around them making sex video together. If they were just having sex, that would have been fine. But they were under the impression that Sam was only doing gay for pay and was straight. So I just couldn’t see them form a connection under those circumstances. I would have liked them to have more interactions that those, I really needed to see those actually. I really enjoyed the small scenes where we got to see them develop feelings the other but they were rare and very spaced out. I wanted so much more of those. It just really wasn’t as good as the first 60% of the book.
I will start by saying all the things I loved about the first 60% of this book and then I will to try how this book went downhill for me.
The things I really enjoyed:
First, I really fucking love the two college boys who are complete idiots and can’t realize they love each other trope and it was done so well here. They both were so clueless and kept blaming their attraction on other things and not the fact that they might be into the other. It was so fun to read about, I absolutely loved it.
Second, I really loved Sam. I loved how he did things for jesse and how he just wanted to he nice to Jesse and take care of him. I loved he listened to jesse and wanted to learn about him and he seemed like he always wanted to spend time with Jesse and it was so cute. I also loved Sam just went with things, how he didn’t make a big deal out of them. He was so easy goiny and things didn’t really bother him, he just went with the flow and didn’t question everything. I really loved that about him and I was so jealous, I really wish I was like him.
Third, the public sex. Thats all I have to say, public sex is really fucking hot.
Fourth, I always love a good sexual discovery and it’s really fucking well done here. I absolutely loved how sam realized he was into Jesse. It was all in the little details and it felt so damn realistic.
Fifth, for the first 60% of this book, (we will come back to this later) the sex scenes were really fucking hot. I loved how all the sex scenes we got were really detailed and vivid. I also loved how Sam got off on Jesse telling him what to do. Also, special mention tho that one really fucking hot foot rub scene.
Where it went downhill:
I am absolutely gutted that I stopped enjoying this book after 60% because I was really loving it.
First, I really wanted more of them actually together. I did really like the idea of them filming for OnlyFans but I would have prefered less filming and more interactions outside of filming. It was out at first but I never felt them developing a connection or falling in love because most of the time when they were together, it was only to film an OnlyFans video. Also, I wanted them to have sex outside of filming, I feel like it would have helped me to feel their connection more. I did enjoy when they forgot that the camera was on and it was only about themselves, I wanted way more of that. Filming for the OnlyFans was really hot at first but at some point it seemed like they had no connection and only talked to film the OnlyFans videos. Also, for a book about them having an OnlyFans and doing porn video, the porn really didn’t seem to have that much focus. Most of the time it just seemed like they did the scenes because they had nothing else to do and not because they loved it. I just feel like this could have been exploited a lot better, it left a lot to be desired.
Second, and this one is actually the reason why i’m the most annoyed. Up to about 60%, we got really really detailed sex scenes but after that, most of the scenes were fade to black. We missed things like Sam getting his first rimjob and the first time they had sex without filming a video. I feel like I really would have needed to see those scenes to feel their connection. Those feel like two very important scenes that I needed to be there for in order to see how they feel about the other, but I didn’t get them. There is so many description of sex in the first 60%, I just don’t understand why we had to switch to fade to black after. I would have understood if it was things they did before, but that was them doing two very new things and we just didn’t get to see them. I really feel like I missed a lot because of that choice because the sex scenes when they were just fucking and all, were very detailed, but all of the sex scenes where they were starting to fall for the other were fade to black.
Third, I never really liked Jessie. Sam seemed way more invested in the relationship than him. Jessie kept acting like it was no big deal and he wasn’t into sam. Sam knew he wanted jessie and went for it. And it kind of annoyed me that Jessie just didn’t return the same energy. I never felt that Jessie loves Sam.
Fourth, the switch between hook up to boyfriends didn’t really make sense. It happened so suddently and they were barely affectionate with the other before it happened, they were still trying to convince themselves it was only sex. Which is why I couldn’t really see how they loved each other so much. It just didn’t seem like they were at the point where you confess your love and all. I also would have loved to get way more scenes between the two of them, I feel like we missed a lot of important moments and seeing those probably would have helped me see how much they love each other.
Fifth, the fucking drama that lead to the big public declaration of feelings, I hated it, so much. I know it was supposed to be cute but it just pissed me off. I was frustrated with set up for the big romantic public gesture and I didn’t feel like I didn’t feel like they were at that stage quite yet. I must admit that it was really cute how Sam confesed his love but the entire set up for that scene just really bothered me. I really don’t like big out of nowhere drama and public declarations of feelings and we got both here.
Also, this is just an observation but I was really confused as to how they filmed blowjobs and rimming scenes for the OnlyFans. They were not filming they faces in their videos, so how did they film those scenes? I really would like to know!
This one just really disapointed me and it wasn’t what I wanted it to be, but I really liked cathing up with Nate and Eric and Marc and Chet, that was one of the best part of the book.

"You're the first person I look for in any room. I hear you louder than anyone else. Even when you're quiet. Sometimes especially when you're quiet. I've never wanted to be with someone else as much as I want to be with you. Making you happy makes me happy. I've never felt that way with someone else either. Everything about you makes me feel impulsive and excitable, and it's both scary and exhilarating as hell."
I'm presenting to you my first five star romance read of the year and of course it comes from Miss Neve. I totally and completely loved this with my whole heart. It was sunshine in book form. My cheeks hurt from smiling and it just made me so damn happy. In general, I like my books with some angst. But I can be convinced to love lighter books if the mood strikes or if they are done right. And this was done right. So right.
That it was sexy perhaps doesn't need to be said. It's a Neve Wilder book. But I'll say it anyway. She writes steamy moments that are right up my alley. They are always sizzling and always HOT. I swear she must be a witch with the way she has with writing THOSE scenes. Everything feels electric and she can go from dirty to one of her patented tiny, tender moments in an instant. At this point, these pastel covers have me melting without reading a word. Witchcraft.
So yes it was hot. 🔥 Let's get that out of the way. But there was so much more that I loved. If you're wondering, I do think this could be read as a stand-alone. But I think it would be enjoyed best if you read the other books first. You'll get a better feel for both Jesse and Sam and appreciate their story more. Plus, why would you even skip the other ones? (No really, why?)
What I loved about this book was how natural the flow of it was and how perfect the connection between the guys developed. How pure it felt and how right. Sam was a golden retriever of a guy and Jesse was a little bit of a porcupine. And oh how Jesse deserved Sam. I think many of us could use a Sam in our lives.
It perhaps also goes without saying that I loved getting glimpses of the couples from previous books. Eric in particular, because he has been somewhat of a mystery as far as the inner workings of his mind go. At one point he gave Jesse some pearls of wisdom that had me swooning because I could FEEL in that moment how much he loved Nate. The guys didn't detract from Jesse and Sam though. It was more that they shimmered in the background to provide some support and also let us know that all is still well with them. I'd happily read about this group for books to come.
So yeah. I unabashedly loved this. I hope you will too.
"He's like...like all the birthday wishes I made but never got, stored up and rolled into one big gift I received at a time when I needed it most."
**I received a review copy through GRR. This did not influence my rating or review.**
Want Me was a horny fuck fest. Try Me was a plot-heavy angst fest. And this?! This was just so fucking funny?!
Omg I had to laugh out loud so many times?? Jesse’s snark and wit were so damn entertaining to read and made me crack up constantly. And Sam’s golden retriever jock-but-secretly-really-smart vibes worked SO WELL for me 😍
And because it’s Never Wilder, this was also hot af. But also SO sweet and wholesome??? These two really did it for me. Ugh, their friendship, their banter, the way they laughed together and just genuinely enjoyed being around each other - and then eventually being so into each other but too shy to talk about it… ugh, ugh, UGH! 😩 Why do I love every book in this series THIS much?!! (Though Want Me will always have a special place in my horny heart ❤️🔥)
One thing though: I thought it was a bit of a shame that there were quite a few time jumps where we missed some of their relationship development, especially in the second half of the book. For example: their first bj? Sam getting rimmed? OFF PAGE!! A CRIME!! And I wanted their first time banging to be off camera and not just for a video with Jesse’s head ‘stuck’ in a dryer 😅 Though I gotta say, even that scene was hot af 🤷♀️ So, the first half of the book worked a bit better for me in general.
But: OH MY GOD this was THE best love declaration I think I’ve ever read, I just melted 🫠. Reading your man’s trashy 8-book queer orc fantasy series from his teenage years IN SECRET just to surprise him at the perfect moment? THAT RIGHT THERE IS PEAK ROMANCE and you cannot convince me otherwise, fuuuuck 😭😭
*sigh* what an endlessly entertaining series so far!
I was so convinced I was going to have a five star read in this book but I enjoyed the first half sooo much more than the second half. First 60% was funnier, sexier, less fade to black, more emotional connection and buildup of their friendship. I feel like we didn’t get to see them build a super strong romantic connection so the declaration of them being boyfriends didn’t feel as powerful as it could have. I still loved this though!! I just thought I was going to love it with how much I enjoyed the first 60 ish percent. Definitely one of those books I wish had way less sex scenes and more romance because I adore this couple but I feel like I didn’t fully get to know them as a couple. Really enjoyed this one though and I really like both guys A LOT so that definitely contributed to me wanting more😊
I received an ARC from the author and this is my honest review.
Okay so let's start with the fact that Sam is my spirit animal an he was the sweetest sexiest guy Neve has ever written besides Eric.
I read this in one day... and it's not a small book. It was funny, sweet, sexy.... all the feels and a cold shower.
What I loved: The Characters: Jesse: Snarky, sweet, self assured Jesse, with the heart of gold and vulnerable heart. He brightened up up every scene he was on and it was such a treat to see him fall for Sam, even after he was burned by others... #SlowlyButSurely
Sam: One cannot read about Sam and not SWOON... I loved how he accepted his feeling towards Jesse seamlessly. How he just let it all just BE without any drama or unnecessary angst. He was the perfect combination of sexy, wholesome and protective. #TheWholePackage
The Plot... Jesse lends a....helping hand.... to Sam in a time of need. Let's just say that he was a friend indeed. The plot revolves around the relationship development of Jesse and Sam. from roommates to friends and and then lovers... along the way they discover how good they are together. #NeverTooLate
The Romance: The relationship progresses slowly but surely between them. What starts as help and friendship transforms into like and lust and love gradually which I loved. These guys took their time to fall for each other and I appreciated the pace...no insta-love in sight! Their connection was seamless and organic. #TheRightWay
The HEA: We not only have Sam and Jesse's HEA.... we also got to know what Chet, Mark, Eric and Nate were all doing. A great ending to a great book. #GroupHug
That was an absolutely stunning example of a sexual awakening romance with all the steam and all the feels Neve is so skilled at.
I absolutely adored Jesse and Sam and loved everything about way this narrative unfolded.
It begins with an accidental moment that sets off a chain of events which I could totally buy into.
Jesse's attraction to Sam is built as much out of him being a nice guy as it his epic football player physique and Sam's not missed how much he enjoys spending time with his housemate either.
The things they get up to are insanely hot but the feels are all there, "hiding in plain sight" from the off too.
There's very little drama, the only real tension point doesn't even come from either of them and I seriously appreciated the lack of Sam angsting over his attraction to Jesse.
What starts out as a means to help Sam gain some savings with his NSRW project quickly turns into so much more.
The Epilogue is utterly delightful and explosively steamy.
I could have read another 80,000 words of these two exploring different ways to get off while full on loving each other with all the swoony boyfriend feels you'd ever want 😁
There's also guest appearances from all the previous characters, snarky jokes and sharp dialogue and Ansel still being as utterly mysterious as in the first two books.
Maybe his story after Cam gets a happy ending please Neve?!
#ARC kindly received from the author via GayRomanceTours in return for an honest and unbiased review.
After a rocky start, I wound up really enjoying this. Initially, I put this on the back burner as I wasn’t keen on the premise (exhibitionism isn’t really my thing 😬). However, I’m so glad I came back to it as Sam and Jesse had great chemistry and it wasn’t as bad as I’d feared. I adored them both, particularly Sam 🥰 and I loved ALL their scenes, be they behind camera or not. Who knew feet could be so sexy?😜 My only niggle was that certain scenes were disappointingly off page but despite this, it was steamy, funny and cute and a bonus to be reunited with the rest of the gang. Can we have Cam’s story next please?🙏🏻
ehh this one was okay. i liked the first half and it had its cute/funny moments but, once jesse volunteered to be sam’s camera man and they both got involved, i thought the story went downhill. i don’t mind steamy scenes at all, but if it outweighs the emotional connection for me, that’s when i get bored because i’m all about the slow burn and build up and it felt like they got together quite fast? i really liked how sam was such a chill guy tho; jesse was alright imo.
i’m excited to read the first two books cause i heard those had more of the feels, which is what i’m personally looking for. :’)
How can I explain my feelings with this book? 🤔 I would say that when it was hot, it was only hot and when it was sweet it was too sweet for my taste, let's see if I can explain it better.
It started well, Jesse was a fun character to read and he had a really relatable issue: he has no luck in love, all his roommates are in love (with people he had a previous crush on btw), so he feels lonely as hell. Sam was more difficult to read, he was described as a brute in previous books and at the beginning of this one, also as a happy no worries kind of guy and then he changed, but no gradually, he changed to be more like a person than a grunting brute. So even though I understood Jesse I wasn't connected with Sam I guess.
The story... I actually imagined something else, I liked that Jesse was upfront with the "I know u make videos" stuff, but then they started making them together and even though I liked the first scene, the rest were only mentioned or cut short and it felt like that trope was unnecessarily used as a way to get them together and then tossed aside? So the author could focus on a story and not only sex? 🤷🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️
That story was not a groundbreaking one, it was simple, messy and boring sometimes, in fact I can't remember a single moment outside the sex that makes me go: they are soulmates!! Also something happened with the chapters, they ended in one situation and the next started in a totally different one ON A DIFFERENT DAY, whiplash all the way. So yeah, it was lacking to me.
I got bored between 60% and 80% and then public stuff happened that always makes me cringe, that's totally personal but still, so yeah I feel down by this one. 😞😞😞
Maybe my expectations were too high or maybe I should've spread these out but while I enjoyed this one it turned out to be my least favorite of the series.
Don't get me wrong, Jesse and Sam are great.
Jesse is a sassy ginger who loves The Great British Baking Show, cooking, can hold a grudge and is a closet romantic, though he's really trying to shake that and just have some good, clean (and by "clean" I mean smutty) fun his senior year.
Sam is a giant jock who is good-natured and perennially optimistic. It's no secret I like the big uns especially when they're gentle giants or just a little bit dumb or jolly. I mean, if you're going to dwarf the rest of the population you should be fucking jolly! Sam qualifies. He's a teddy bear who likes to cuddle and wants everyone to be happy who also plays football and has a secret OnlyFans page.
Somehow with all these things on offer that ordinarily tick all my boxes it just never rang my bell. Sorry for the mixed metaphor there.
I didn't feel their chemistry. The whole secret page thing was weak. They didn't set my ladygarden on fire the way the first two couples did. AND I kept thinking it would be funny and instead there was just angst. It was just... a letdown.
It is sweet though. And there's not a lot of drama which I appreciated. Sam even though he's historically identified as straight didn't stress too much about his attraction to Jesse which I liked. So... it had potential and parts of it I liked.
First off, any time I see these colors and Neve's name on a cover, I start salivating because I KNOW it's going to be a hot read. A Pavlovian response, to be sure.
I loved this trip back to the Extracurricular Activities world! Reading Jesse and Sam's story was like snuggling up with my favorite fluffy blanket.
There's no angst in this fun and laugh-out-loud-funny rom-com involving college roommates. Jesse, housemate to Nate and Eric from Want Me and Mark from Try Me, has given up on finding true love and is just looking to hook up. Sam's a frat brother to Nate and Mark and moved into the house after Nate and Eric moved out. He's also straight - or so he and everyone else thought.
Sam's got an interesting side hustle making the most of his assets, and he ends up getting Jesse involved. Hilarity and panty-melting hot sex ensues. Neve's known for having some of the hottest sex scenes in the MM genre, and she, Sam, and Jesse do not disappoint.
Jesse's a sweetheart, but I fell head-over-heels for Sam, who navigates his bisexual awakening with a minimum of fuss, and is probably one of the truly nicest characters I've ever read.
Neve's at her snarky best and I loved seeing Nate and Eric, Mark and Chet, and of course, the mysterious Ansel again, as well as Cam, who will hopefully get a chance to tell his story soon. I just didn't want the ride to be over!
You could probably read this book without reading the first two, but don't cheat yourself like that. Want Me and Try Me are among my all-time favorites, and are classics, in my opinion.
I can’t for the life of me understand why I rated this 3 stars 2 years ago, but this hit in a completely different way this time around, in the best way possible!!! (fanning myself because it's hot in here)
I completely underestimated how soft this book is under all the steam. On the surface, it’s a flirty, fun camboy-to-lovers setup—but on reread, it’s basically two cinnamon rolls accidentally catching feelings while showing some skin on camera. Jesse and Sam are the perfect opposites attract that just fit and are delicious together*** They are so funny, and are completely OTT. Sam seems so simpler but he is not, he is just a complete golden retriever with a gigantic crush on his gay friend who just wants to be loved. Also all the interactions with Nate, Eric, Mark and Chet are so rich, god love them all.
This kind of gives me a whisper of For the Fans that similar trope of online intimacy turning real-life tender. FTF was release 2 years later than this one 🙂.
There’s no heavy drama—just a slow, sweet burn of connection wrapped in spicy banter and blush-worthy moments…AND SUPER HOT AF SHENANIGANS JFC THIS WAS HOT!🥵🥵🥵🥵🥵🥵 The emotional beats are gentle but real, and the romance sneaks up on you in the coziest way. THEIR IMAGINATION PROVIDES A FILTH FEST DAMNNNNNNN!🥵🥵🥵🥵🥵🥵🥵
Because we have this side:
“Sure do—shit, that feels good. Whip it out—phone and dick,” he added with a grin as he rolled and slung a leg over my hips before crawling astride me. “There are a couple of other things your fans have been asking for that we haven’t tackled yet.” A low, hissing curse poured from my lips as Jesse slid his bare ass back and forth over my trapped cock. “What are these things?” He grabbed the phone from my hand. “To start with, you’re gonna roll on your stomach and let me eat your ass, then we’ll see what’s what from there.”
But also this one:
“You’re the first person I look for in any room. I hear you louder than anyone else. Even when you’re quiet. Sometimes especially when you’re quiet. I’ve never wanted to be with someone else as much as I want to be with you. Making you happy makes me happy. I’ve never felt that with someone else either. Everything about you makes me feel impulsive and excitable, and it’s both scary and exhilarating as hell.” (…)“So here’s what I know is true. One, this is definitely the worst love declaration ever, and I’m sorry about that. I’ll try to think of something better and we can have a redo if you’ll let me. Two, I want to watch GBBO with you every day. I want to study with you and be with you and cuddle with you, and sleep in your bed and do…fuck…do all the really sexy things we’ve been doing together that I had no idea I was missing until I met you. You have the softest lips, and even kissing you is hotter that any sex I’ve ever had.” I swept a hand back through my hair, and it came away damp with nervous sweat. “You told me not to fall in love with you, and I failed. I usually hate failing anything. But I’m not sorry this time.”
And I love that, filthy love 🔥🫶
I just wished they had more intimate moments without the camera on page, just that.
Total comfort read on the second go. Definitely deserves the 4.5★
Of course I loved it. Of course. So far, Neve Wilder has hit every single note perfectly in this series. Excellent humor, great banter, realistic college guys, friendship, UST & sizzling chemistry, honest vulnerability and those tiny tender moments that define this series for me. 🥰 *TTM so named by Leslie, read her awesome review here*
The covers and the blurb will clue you in that there is blisteringly hot sex in this book and the story delivers that in spades. Seriously. 🔥 But it's the true emotion in the pages that always takes me by surprise, even though at this point I expect it.
I loved both Jesse and Sam, they could not have been more opposites. They clashed in the beginning *well, Jesse did, LOL* and their friendship was slow and sweet in developing, with a bit of secret lust mixed in. The relationship that eventually unfolded between them was all I could have wanted for both. 😍😍
The icing on top of this most delicious cake was getting to see all the previous couples, happy and living their lives together. 💕 I loved every single bit.
3.5 stars 💫 I liked this book, and I enjoyed it very much. I really loved Sam. He cared about Jess. But, I expected more than that from the book. But yeah, it was okayyyy. 😊
So this took me over a week to finish, but I had a huge personal thing going on, so my head just was not in the right place a lot of the time to read this until recently.
And overall, I enjoyed this third installment in this series. I would say it is my least favorite, but that doesn't mean I disliked it.
I loved Sam, he was just a sweet guy and so calm and understanding and kind. He was my favorite part about this book.
And now, while I liked Jesse for the most part, and even loved him at times, he also frustrated me at times. His attitude didn't always come across the best. Things like thinking he's been friendzoned because he had several crushes on his roommates that never went anywhere, or how he supposedly, deep down, wanted the romance and the flowers and being swept off his feet, but when he was cheated on freshmen year he tried to wall himself off from wanting that, but I didn't get much of a sense that he wanted that romance, flowery stuff.
I don't know if it was just Wilder trying too hard to make him seem "I just want sex" or what, but at times it didn't really feel like he had once been that flowery-eyed romantic, and was still secretly that person. He came across a lot of the time like he presented himself to others. I just think that if he'd had more wandering thoughts of the romantic aspects he couldn't help but want with Sam, that it would have been more believable that he was that type of person.
Now don't get me wrong, he had those moments...there just wasn't enough, for me. And like I would get the trying to distance himself thing, wanting to *try* to make it all about sex, if we got the thoughts he was so trying to fight against a lot more, if that makes sense? But it felt like he was just about sex a lot of the time.
I actually felt more of the romantic feelings from Sam, who is supposed to be the "straight guy" who takes longer to realize attraction and then feelings for Jesse. Eventually get more and more romantic thoughts from Jesse, but I just think they should have been a lot more constant before we were nearing the end.
I also, actually...was expecting more sex? Like even as they're doing the porn stuff together, I feel like we only get a couple sex scenes - that were certainly hot - and then just heard about a lot of the others that happened. And, ya know, the fewer sex scenes is ultimately fine, as what we get is plenty steamy and hot, but I just feel like...if the premise is about two guys doing porn, even amateur porn, that...we should get more sex? Lol I don't know. I was just surprised by the lower-level of sex scenes.
But overall, this was enjoyable. I know I would have read it a lot quicker if real life problems hadn't been going on. These two did have genuine moments of connection and chemistry, and had some kinky public sex inclinations that were hot AF.
So I definitely recommend, but I just think this might be the weakest in the series overall. Still a strong showing, but still could have been better in several areas, in my opinion. Still worth a read, though, for sure.
this was amazzzinggg! stress-free, fun, flirty, sexy and exactly what i needed.
Both the main characters, Jesse and Sam, were wonderfully written and flushed out. They were not the "predictable characters" unlike the author's previous books. They're friendship was believable and the "small moments" didn't seem forced or for the sake of their relationship.
Cannot stress enough on how much i loved this book.
Loved Jesse and Sam’s story, lots of laugh out loud moments, absolutely loved Jesse’s character and basically everything about this friends to lovers story. And of course totally 🔥🔥🔥 too. Honestly, Neve Wilder is a one click author for me 💚💜❤️💯.
Overall Opinion: This was just alright. I’m in the minority again, sadly. I didn’t find it all that hot, I didn’t really feel their connection to each other, and I didn’t really connect to either of the characters. There is no drama and this was pure m/m smutty fluff — which, again, is just fine for a lot of readers! Just not my cuppa.
Brief Summary of the Storyline: This is Jesse and Sam’s story. They’re roommates and when Jesse accidentally finds out that Sam is the solo performer on the porn site he watches, he freaks out a little. Sam is wanting to capitalize on someone knowing about his secret moneymaker and enlists Jesse to help him. What he doesn’t expect is to be feeling things for Jesse that he never has before. Jesse isn’t interested in anyone bi after being hurt in the past, so while he’s willing to help, he is hesitant to allow feelings in the mix. There are some funny moments, some sexy times, and some sweet scenes...and they get a HFN ending.
Point Of View (POV): This alternated between Jesse and Sam’s POV.
Overall Pace of Story: Alright. There were some slow part but I never skimmed. It also had some time jumps where it referred to encounters between the mcs in the past which bugged.
Instalove:No, friends to lovers
H1 (Hero #1) rating: 3.5 stars. Jesse. I liked him mostly but I don’t think I really connected with his character.
H2 (Hero #2) rating: 3.5 stars. Sam. While I liked how confident he was with himself, I didn’t fully connect with him either.
Sadness level: Low, no tissues needed
Push/Pull: No
Heat level: Good. They have some good tension, chemistry, and scenes -- but not so much it takes away from the story.
Descriptive sex: Yes
OW (Other Woman)/OM (Other Man) drama: Yes, but mild
Sex scene with OW or OM: No
Cheating: No
Separation: No
Possible Triggers: No
Closure: This ends in a good place but with a HFN ending
Safety: This one should be Safe for most safety gang readers
I just wanted to sample it but then one-clicked. :) Started really good. I like the writing. It's not that different, just a word here, a phrase there, but it makes it sound new or not like something I read a thousand times in other books. And I was enjoying it for the most part. Sexy, and the humor was a bonus for me. Jesse is a cute twink and Sam a hunk of a football player. There is some kink too and... well there is porn, kinda. The second part, or more like the last few chapters was more generic with the usual drama. Which I really didn't need and I felt exasperated. 3.5 stars
This was definitely my favorite of the series so far. Both characters were sweet and lovely with great chemistry and the angst level was low which was exactly what I needed in my reading life right now.
This was so funny, sexy, and incredibly cute! Neve Wilder managed to take an extremely porn-y premise (literally porn-y) and give it plot and well thought out characters. This series as a whole I’ve super enjoyed because Wilder has created such a great universe of unique characters. I honestly can’t wait to see what else is in store in the EA world.
Back to the story at hand, both Jesse and Sam were so likable and their chemistry as both friends, and then more, was so well done. The sex videos made for some very steamy scenes but it never felt like *too much* where that was the only focus of the story. When the lines start getting blurred between on camera and real feelings the transitions were SO GOOD and paced perfectly.
This just was a honest-to-goodness good time and I had a blast reading it.
~Yes another book today 😬 I am really trying to embrace my reclusive-homebody-bookworm, & pretending to not have any responsibilities during my annual leave … 😅~ ﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏
• m/m • college romance • size diff • g4p cam work •
Poor Jesse, adorable, self proclaimed twink and romantic at heart has really had a rough deal. His first ever college bf (& first ever actual bf!) did him dirty. And just to add salt to the wound, over the years all his apparently straight housemates have over looked him and are finding love with other MEN.
Sam is the ultimate adorable-doofus jock nice-guy. Jesse accidentally discovers Sam’s been doing some solo cam work - which he had been enjoying prior to the realisation that it was his actual housemate 😬 Andddd eventually, Jesse ends up doing the filming and being the angles guy… and from there the story practically writes itself, let’s be real.
I have to say that a plot around cam work is not usually my thang…
(EXCEPT FOR THE HOLY GRAIL OF MM ROMANCE - & IF YOU KNOW ME, YOU KNOW, DON’T EVEN GET ME STARTED) 😅
Not the most original storyline, but this was a cute, steamy, easy read which had me chuckling many times.
I know this book is older than For the fans , but bear with me: I read FTF before this one, so OFC I’ll compare both books, seeing that both include filming videos for OnlyFans. Here, it’s Sam, the “straight jock”, who posts clips about jerking off in public places - a fact that catches Jesse by surprise when he finds out that the hot new onlyfans channel he subscribed to is no other than his golden retriever roommate.
After addressing it, it didn’t take long for them to start filming together - at first, Jesse is just the cameraman, but it doesn’t take long for them to start doing videos including both of them.
It’s… hot 🔥🔥🔥 I especially enjoyed the voyeristic aspect. And I’m always down for a bi/gay/whatever awakening story, so that was fun. Sadly, at some point it became a bit repetitive and started lagging. A shame really, because I loved both characters, and Neve Wilder certainly knows how to write steamy scenes.
To sum it up: I would have rated it with 4 stars, but the ending was too drawn out, so 3 stars it is 🤷♀️
I’ll end it with a few of my favorite quotes: “I was a little neurotic, but I was also an out-and-proud ginger who could actually tan rather than burn. That factor alone should’ve conferred unicorn status upon me.” … “Are you always this dramatic?” He nodded. “It’s kind of my MO. Life’s more fun in loud colors than in beige.” … He was bouncing in the middle of the dance floor to a juiced-up remix of The Weeknd’s “Blinding Lights” like he’d been born with confetti in his veins. … Freshman-year Jesse had believed in hearts, flowers, and unicorns. Senior-year Jesse knew that unicorns took shits just like any other horse. … “You’re the first person I look for in any room. I hear you louder than anyone else. Even when you’re quiet. Sometimes especially when you’re quiet. I’ve never wanted to be with someone else as much as I want to be with you. Making you happy makes me happy. I’ve never felt that with someone else either. Everything about you makes me feel impulsive and excitable, and it’s both scary and exhilarating as hell.”
This one gave me mixed feelings. On the one hand, it was very sweet. Sam and his golden retriever vibes, the steam from the first 30% that had me 🪭, the dynamic of their initial encounters were giving 5 stars no question.
The development of the relationship was done pretty well, and i was right there with them both as they were falling for each other. I just wanted more spice. More push/pull. So instead of building up towards a HEA it kind of seriously fizzled out for me. Read this one for:
💜No 3d act break up 💜Amateur 🌽 shenanigans 💜Strict top/bottom roles for the boys
There were a couple of smexy scènes that faded to black, and while I appreciate an attempt to move the focus from strictly erotica to romance, I don't like fade to black in my steamy romance. It's fine if the scenes are described 'behind the scenes, post factum' but don't start something and fade it to black, that's just disappointing to me. Because I am partly (like 65%) here for the smut, right?
I'm still going to read the next instalment as soon as it's out. Because yum overall!
