Lorenzo Calogero (Melicuccà, 28 May 1910 – Melicuccà, 25 March 1961) was an Italian poet.

Calogero was born in Melicuccà, a little town near Reggio Calabria, in 1910 in a wealthy family. In graduated in Medicine in Naples in 1937 and the following year he start working as a physician in Siena. Calogero had a tormented life and was constantly obsessed by death and he tried to kill himself at least two times (in 1942 and in 1956). He died in mysterious circumstances at his own home in his hometown. His body was found several days after his death in his bed.

His first book of poems, Pocosuono was published in 1936, between 1955 and 1956 he published three other books (Come in dittici; Ma questo... and Parole del tempo) which show the signs of his mental decay, his obsessions and his total desperation. Most of his works, anyway, are still unpublished.
