Caged in Fire

ISAAC

There are enemies all around and I'm in the hands of the worst ones my club has ever faced. They plan to sell me as punishment for what Thanatos has done to them and caught up in the cross fire, I have no idea if I'm going to survive long enough to see the man I love again. I have to keep fighting, despite the darkness that's swallowing me whole. I have to live because dying would destroy him.

THANATOS

I never expected to fall for Isaac, but he's fast become my reason for breathing. I'll stop at nothing to save his life, even if it means risking my own. He's mine and no one is ever taking him from me.

But that choice may not be mine. People are moving against me and my club. If i don't act fast enough, Isaac could be the one to suffer.

Mothertrucker!!! *bends at the knees. Just give me a goddamn minute!! This! THIS far surpassed my expectations. As you may know, this is book two and the concluding book in this duet and I am truly blown away! I WANT TO GIVE MORE THAN 5 FREAKING STARS!!
This picks up where Caged In Darkness finished and I was swept up from the first word! Swept up and plunged head first, kicking and screaming into the hurricane of emotions that this book evoked.
My heart, literally splintered! Like Than and Isaac's jagged pieces. I was scared they would never fit back together again. And maybe they didnt, not completely but differently. And maybe that's not a bad thing.
Any who, that's all you are getting from me because I don't give spoilers.
Bravo Ms Thorn, bravo! You are freaking amazing!

ARC received for an honest review.

This is the continuation of Isaac and Thanatos. Isaac is taken and tortured in so many ways. Isaac changes due to this abuse but still comes out strong. Thanatos has fallen in love and now he'll do anything needed to get Isaac back and make his torturers pay. This is a really dark and uncomfortable read. I thought it was better than book one but still too much drama and the torture was overdone IMO. Some of Isaac's torture could've been alluded to, to not bring such darkness to the book. I agree with some of the other reviewers, this is not an easy read or for the faint of heart. It's soul crushing.

Wow this was brutal but oh so good - Great completion to the duet

I should have expected it and been fully prepared for where it went as it was noted in the blurb, but most authors hint at it but never actually go there. Kudos to this author for carrying through with that story line.

I felt for Isaac so much. His power was taken away and it was good to see the variety of emotions he went through after being rescued. The anger was understandable. I also fully appreciated the time the guys took to repair their relationship and in becoming intimate again.

I liked Than in this one. He came across a lot better here. He spent so much of the book making sure Isaac got what he needed and protecting him at the same time. I was impressed with the way he never pressured Isaac, he let him heal at his own pace.

I very much enjoyed the way the story progressed and the resolution. It's not for the faint of heart but if you like gritty and brutal books give it a go

After the way Caged in Darkness ended, I needed to know what happened next. And while the first book was full of steam and raw attraction, Caged in Fire is all about emotions and depth. It perfectly shows how Than and Isaac feel. This story brought me to tears, more than once.

Amy managed to give a very personal and detailed account of what they go through. It's impossible not to root for them! Some parts of this story are super dark and harsh. Yet, they actually happen in real life. But Amy doesn't sugarcoat nor embellish them. The points come across and add richness and complexity to the story.

Isaac is much more tormented, angry and vulnerable. It takes all of Than's strength and determination to show Isaac that he is not damaged as he thinks. Thanatos becomes the most rational of the two, which sounds almost crazy if you have read the first book. If I'm honest, I like this Isaac better. I finally saw and understood him.

Caged in Fire is unpredictable and perfect. I highly recommend this duet, which makes impossible not to want to read more of Amy's books.

Isaac goes through some stuff in this one. He has a lot that he has to deal with, and he has a really hard time dealing with it. I mean, he does, but he also has to deal with Than's feelings at the same time, which is hard. Of course, Than also has to deal with the stuff that Isaac is feeling.

This wasn't a bad duology. It could've used some polishing, but overall, not bad.

M/M Biker Romance

I was given this book for an honest review by Wicked Reads.

Isaac and Thanatos have been through a lot. Now that Isaac has been kidnapped, the club is stopping at nothing to find him. Thanatos is beside himself, blaming himself and only wants Isaac back at his side.

When the club finds Isaac, he's a shell of himself. The boys want revenge and they are willing to get it by any means necessary.

As the hunt begins, Isaac has to deal with his own feelings about his capture, abuse and recovery, all while trying to hold it together enough to get his revenge.

Thanatos has lived in the dark for a long time. He never truly understood how someone could lose themselves in their own mind until he had to watch Issac live it.

As they navigate their new relationship, they also contend with nightmares, guilt and their need to rectify the wrongs.

I actually thought this was more about their love story, despite the violence in the story. I liked watching their journey. It was raw, real and you could feel their love seep out of the pages.

After "Caged in Darkness" I really had to find out what happens next with Isaac and Than. I definitely recommend reading the first volume first.
I liked the easy-going writing style because the story reads well. Once started, the pages just fly by.
I liked "Caged in Fire" a tad better than the previous volume. It was suspenseful, it was gritty, I really suffered along with Isaac and Than. The story is emotional, the characters have depth and it was really hard to watch Isaac suffer at times.
But do the two manage to pull themselves out of the darkness? Do they have a chance at a happy ending?
I got an ACR and this is my honest opinion. I'm really glad I decided to read this duet.
If you like gritty, dark, and intriguing protagonists, this is the book for you! Also, the unforeseen twists and turns made for suspense!

Holy crap on a cracker! First off you must read the first book, this is a duet. Gosh, I don't even know where to start. This book was brutal. I don't want to give anything away because you must read it, experience it, feel it, to truely understand. Isaac and Than, man, I wasn't sure how this was all gonna end up but man, it was on heck of a journey. Highly recommend this duet.

I continued to be enthralled with the relationship between Thanatos and Isaac. There were a few things that tripped me up in this second book. Like how he was gone for a month but his hair had barely grown, he hadn't lost a bunch of weight while in captivity, he didn't have extra issues with his knee after being tortured, and the scene with Fallon where they did a minor cleanup to eradicate any evidence even though Isaac had shot him in the leg and it would have been a bit more than minor to fix that. Plus, I want to know what road name they gave him! Anyway, all that aside, I stuck with it and thoroughly cheered as Ezra and Zac overcame their demons together. Than was surprisingly sweet and gentle with him, showing so much care in helping him heal. He exceeded my expectations, and I was super happy to see them find their way to HEA together.

I needed to know what happened next after the ending of Caged in Darkness. And, whereas the first book was filled with steam and raw attraction, Caged in Fire is all about emotions and depth. It perfectly captures Than and Isaac's emotions. This story moved me to tears several times. The author was able to provide a very personal and detailed account of their experiences.
It&'s difficult not to root for them! Some of the details in this story are extremely dark and harsh. They do, however, occur in real life. She does not, however, sugarcoat or embellish them. The points are clear and add to the story's richness and complexity. Isaac is far more tormented, enraged, and vulnerable. It will take all of Than's strength and determination to convince Isaac that he is not as damaged as he believes. If you've read the first book, Thanatos becomes the more rational of the two. To be honest, I prefer this Isaac. I finally saw and comprehended him. Caged in Fire is both unpredictable and flawless.
This duet is highly recommended, and it's impossible not to want to read more of Amy's books after hearing it

When we last saw Thanatos and Isaac in Caged in Darkness, Isaac had let himself be captured in order to save Than from the hands of the Damaris syndicate, and Caged in Fire picks up right where the first book ended. While Isaac is tortured physically, violated to the point of breaking, Than and the rest of the Black Death Riders stop at nothing to find their brother. But once they find him, Isaac will not be the same man he once was, and he won’t be the same lover Thanatos started falling in love with in Caged in Darkness. The road to recovery is long and treacherous, but both Than and Isaac, with the support of the Black Death Riders, find that they can ride that road hand in hand.

After waiting just over a month since the cliffhanger in Caged in Darkness, I was so happy for the release of Caged in Fire. I loved that the action picked up right where we left off in the first book; I know that, had both books been available when I started reading Caged in Darkness, I would have immediately downloaded the second book just to find out what happened after Isaac was taken by the Damaris syndicate. Caged in Fire was definitely darker than the first book. While we witnessed a lot of Thanatos’ demons in Darkness, Fire has both main characters struggling with their pasts and seeking retribution, Isaac for what was done to him physically and mentally while being held captive and Thanatos for what was done to his sister. The things that are done to Isaac while he’s held prisoner are graphic and may not be for everyone. These actions shape who Isaac is as a character and changes how he sees the world and interacts with his brothers in the Black Death Riders. The graphic acts are central to Isaac’s character development, but they are graphic nonetheless. The growth we saw in both Than and Isaac in Darkness was just the tip of the iceberg; both men really came full circle in this book. And, while Isaac’s main growth is self-contained within Caged in Fire, Thanatos had a wonderful arc that full spanned both books. The rest of the guys in the Black Death Riders definitely seemed to have less on-page time in this second book, but they were all still fully realized characters while remaining more supportive and more secondary to Than and Isaac’s journey. While exponentially more graphic in nature, I thoroughly enjoyed Caged in Fire and loved wrapping up Isaac and Thanatos’ love story.

[I received a digital arc for an honest review]

***TRIGGER WARNINGS: Repeated sexual assault of MC, graphic violence***

Caged in Fire by Amy Thorn is the second book in the Caged Duet. Thanatos has opened up to Isaac only to have him ripped away by Damaris. The club is striking back with their limited information but as they search high and low for Isaac he is being tortured at the hands of men who bring nothing but pain and suffering. Isaac struggles to stay strong but holds onto hope that Thanatos will find him and bring a reckoning down on everyone who plays a part in the dark market that prepares to sell him. But even if he can be saved, will Isaac still be the man that broke through Thanatos darkness?

This book broke my heart. You could feel the anguish of both characters wafting off the pages as you fell deeper down the dark hole of human trafficking. Thanatos is living his worst nightmare over again, this time with Isaac having thrown himself at the lions to save him. He has struggled so much and the small reprieve brought on by Isaac entering his life is gone. Isaac knows he won’t be the same man he was when he was taken. His body and soul are stripped away and whatever remains is not the same person that broke down Thanatos walls. His rage and sadness combined create a volatile and dangerous person that neither man recognizes. The two men struggle to piece together an already complicated relationship and fight to accept the new normal.

“He’s become my rock. I need him as much as he needs me. Two shattered souls seeking solace. That’s all we are.”

Book one had you becoming very attached to Thanatos and Isaac so when the cliffhanger left you needing more this book completely satisfied that. But man do you go through the ringer watching the story unfold. I don’t typically do a lot of trigger warnings but this book had me reeling from the sexual violence. This is not an easy book so be prepared for this because it doesn’t necessarily get lighter even as it comes to an end.

4 stars for the fiery conclusion to a dark duet for two lost souls finding peace together.

After eagerly anticipating how the author was going to tie all the loose ends left at the end of book one, I dived right into the story.

Once again, we find Than and Isaac trying to make something of this thing between them. In this installment, we get to see a different Than and Isaac. These two were definitely not the same men we met in book one and for that I am grateful. Don't get me wrong, I liked them both before but the events that took place changed them and their growth both as individuals and as a couple trying to figure out how to move forward in their relationship was a treat to read.

I enjoyed the range in emotion the author brought to the page. The worry, the hesitance and the overall weariness left behind by the events that had taken place were palpable. I enjoyed Than's nurturing side. He was still plagued by guilt and frustrated because of the circumstances, but to see him allowing himself to "feel" was what ultimately convinced me that this relationship might work. I also enjoyed Isaac in this installment. I appreciated the author's effort in bringing forth his state of him throughout this whole ordeal because it served to endear him to me even more than before. I admired his resilience just as much as his vulnerability. He had to go through the hard times to come through whole on the other side and I'm glad I got to experience it first-hand.

As for the romance, I can honestly say that I became invested in it. This time around, I not only enjoyed the steamy moments, but I also indulged myself in the candid ones. There were moments where words were unnecessary and where Than and/or Isaac's actions packed the same punch as if they had a lengthy conversation. Those were my favorites and the author did a fantastic job in bringing them to the page.

When I finished book one, I was hoping that in this book the romance element would be developed to its fullest and that Than and Isaac's connection gained enough growth to make their romance viable to me. I have to say that I was satisfied and all my expectations were met.

All in all, a wonderful ending to a rollercoaster of a ride read!

Okay, I'mma be honest and tell you, I love MC romances.. And if it's dark, has a lot of triggering topics that are dealt well, I'mma fall in love with the book and the characters. These two are one such series I absolutely love. Make sure to read the TW before you pick thia up okay??
.
My Rating [5/5] 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
.
Isaac is dealing with his own demons from his Army days and wants a brotherhood to find direction. Than is hanging by a thread after his baby sister gets murdered by a rival gang. When these two come together? There's darkness, loyalty, so much tension, angst, denial, with some kidnapping, rescue mission and punishment thrown in.
.
I really loved how these characters were portrayed in both the books. They had amazing character development and their chemistry was off the charts. That also means, the author did a fantastic job on the trauma and how the characters dealt with them. Especially in the second book, where shit gets real and lots happened. And I mean like epic kind of shit. I just wanted to cuddle Isaac like a baby and keep him safe. It also had an amazing ending that felt believable and also it gave the characters room to still grow and heal. I really liked the author's writing style! And in a scene where things are going bad, I was clutching my heart for the mission to be a success! It was engaging, had a lot of topics that needs discussed, and it's Dark. So it's Obviously my book. Both characters had so much on their plates, and everything Isaac went through affected Than indirectly and their emotional development was something I didn't expect, but was done perfectly!! So, I think I'm going to read more of this author's work!!

5 freaking incredible stars 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Than and Isaac ❤️🔥❤️

Phenomenal is an understatement!!!
Disclaimer: if certain subjects are a trigger ( rape/ extreme violence) for you, please take caution before you jump in... this was not an easy read, but it was beautiful nonetheless.
The first half of this book gutted me!!! I cried for Isaac, I cried for his pain, I cried for his torture, I cried for the man he was and I cried for the man he would become 😢 he was such a strong and likable character in the first book and I feared he would come out of the darkness something unrecognizable and boy was I wrong, he clawed his way from the depth of despair and fracture like a Phoenix rising from the ashes of hell.....completely unbreakable, although damaged....stronger, braver, darker but still Isaac at his core. His strength was incredible to read!!!! Now let's talk about Than, he was rock solid and his transformation from the first book was so touching, watching him love Isaac without fear, judgment or reservations was truly heartwarming in a book that was otherwise bathed in darkness and horror, his patience with Isaac was unwavering.....also, seeing Than so willing to absorb the demons Isaac was haunted by was a testament to just how deeply he cared for Isaac ❤️ and that was everything!! Amy Thorn deserves all the kudos for this book... once again it was phenomenal, this is a duet that I will very willingly read over and over...it was just that good!! I highly recommend this read and would give it 1000 stars 🌟 if I could!!!

Caged in Fire is the continuation of Isaac and Thanatos’s story from Caged in Darkness. If I thought the first part of this story was dark, this second book definitely one upped it, not necessarily in a good way.

After Isaac is kidnapped at the end of book 1, we see Isaac dealing with the reality of being held hostage, tortured and raped and Than (and the MC) trying to do everything in his power to get Isaac back. There’s some really graphic depictions of the horrible things Isaac has to endure while at the stash house, so reader beware.

I did enjoy how Isaac and Than’s relationship continued to develop, despite Isaac’s trauma and their disagreements about enacting their revenge, once they’re finally reunited. Than really transforms in this book and becomes a much more likable character and is surprisingly sweet when it comes to Isaac and his recovery.

I think there were a few things that got to be a bit repetitive and the torture sequences were a bit too drawn out. But, I did really enjoy the ending to Than and Isaac’s story, that they finally found happiness and love with each other despite the really dark, scary situations they found themselves in from before they even met. Overall, this duet was a good read - not my favorite, but entertaining and really easy to read.

I stalked this book ok Booksprout because I knew I would not be able to wit for release day. Then I snapped it up and DEVOURED it. I tried to pace myself, but it was like lays potato chips, one I started, I was powerless to stop!! This conclusion to Isaac and Than’s story is a rollercoaster of epic proportions!

Let me start with the obvious-it’s dark so LOTS of trigger warnings. There are descriptions of sexual assault and it may be difficult for some readers, but the way the author handled it was wonderful. It wasn’t gratuitous or salacious, it was raw, but necessary for the story and the emotions of the character.

This part of the story sees Than going through a crisis of conscience due to his need to maintain control of the club, exact revenge for his sister and now for Isaac, while trying to protect Isaac from giving in to the dark part of him that wants blood to exact his own revenge. There is a schism in the relationship between Isaac and Than, Than and Evan, and Isaac and the club. The conflict is well resolved and the author does not rush to a happy ending, rather the author allow the reader to see the pain and the long road back to the new normal experienced by a victim/survivor of sexual assault.

Hot guys and motorcycles but with a side of pain, revenge and healing

I really enjoyed this book but it left me a bit waiting for more. All we have in this book was pain and revenge. It felt like the only two charter developments was breaking Isaac even more and just turning Thanatos's personality around.

While this second installment was a great ending for Thanatos and Isaac's story, I kept feeling like it could have just been a bit less drama crammed at the end of the first book. This was the second instalment of a duet that continued the plot from the first installment. Since in the first book they were very close to catching Garrett, they obviously needed a complication/new villain to warrant a whole second book. So I felt like the whole purpose of this book was to make Isaac's story sadder and to prolong the story.

It felt very fulfilling to see Thanatos like a protective lover who refused to let Isaac out of his sight. It was a bit weird to see such a huge difference between "I do not love and you are just a quick lay" and the "I am in love, don't you dare leave my bed and go back to the bunks.".

I voluntarily reviewed an ARC I received via Booksprout.

The second part of the Caged duet picks up directly after the events of Caged In Darkness and Thanatos and the rest of the Black Death Riders motorcycle club reeling. Really, all of the set-up was done in book one, creating the environment and atmosphere in the club, the budding relationship between Thanatos and Isaac, both men's origins of their psychological states. Here, although there's definitely action in the pursuit of retribution for Thanatos's sister and for more recent events, the focus feels more on the emotional side to me. All of the club, but especially Isaac and Than have a lot of emotional healing to do whilst working out how they'll continue to fit together as a couple as well as President and Prospect.

I don't want to spoiler anything, so I'll just say this is definitely up there as an emotional, emotive dark romance...definitely not for the faint hearted due to the level of violence and the nature of the events described. It's one of those situations where I feel a bit sorry for the author because clear trigger warnings will give away the plot, but there are MAJOR triggers, so reader beware. I do like that some balance is brought to the darker themes with both Isaac and Thanatos finally understanding who and what they are to each other and growing their relationship from there. As a Brit, I also appreciate that this duet is set in London - pretty much all of the MC books I've read before have been US-based.

All in all, I think if you're in the mood for something dark, seriously angsty and uncomfortable to read the Caged books won't steer you wrong. 4.5* rounded up.

An ARC was provided by GRR. This is my honest review.

If you crave retribution for wrongs committed, you will love this book…
***Read the author’s warnings. This is important if you have triggers. Torture and rape on page. ***
This is the sequel to CAGED IN DARKNESS where both Thanatos and Isaac resided when they met. Through many trials they came to understand and care for one another. This is a very dark M/M romance between a hardened man 41yo Thanatos, President of the Black Death Riders MC and a younger (27yo) man, Isaac, recently booted out of the Army and looking for the brotherhood that the MC will give him. His brother Ethan is second in charge in the MC and because of what happened to Isaac in the Army, brought him into the fold to help him work through his trauma.
This book starts at the very moment the last book ended. Isaac had saved Than using his Army skills but couldn’t save himself. Let me just say, the most paralyzing moment for me occurred when I read how long Isaac’s agony lasted. Truly edge-of-seat storytelling with so much pain, disgust but finally a wonderful HEA. If you like M/M MC stories with darkness and bite, try this book. I volunteered to review an ARC of this duet through Gay Romance Reviews. So glad it ended with a satisfying resolution.

Powerful story with overwhelming emototions, events that are pretty tough to read at times. Events that happen in here are full on, this includes rape, both male and female. The author has done an amazing job dealing with those, the feelings especially, anger, frustration, pain and being ashamed, as well as fear. We often get stories of female rape especially in mafia or mc reads, so in many ways this was refreshing. I dont mean in a nasty sick way but it shows that even a tough, strong alpha male can be taken, abused and worse. It happens! So i found this a change and it highlights just how easy it can happen. As a whole the duet is about two very damaged tortured souls finding light and love at the end of extremely dark tunnels and the love an acceptance of all those around them without judgement. It was gripping, suspenseful and violent but it had some very sweet and loving moments mixed in. It consumed me while reading, even into my sleep the characters were in my head with worry until i woke and picked my book up again this morning. Thank goodness i had a day off. If you as a reader can handle the dark triggers then this duet is so worth reading. Loved the story, adored the characters. Started 25/11/21 Finished 26/11/21

So, first of all, this book is dark, there's a lot of violence, but also has a few very graphic rape scenes, so if that isn't your thing (and trust me, they're explicit enough that I had to skip them because I couldn't handle them), either do what I did and don't read those scenes or just refrain from reading this installment. Having to read what Isaac had to go through at the hands of Ezra/Thanato's enemies was heartbreaking and for me, it could have only been hinted at with the same effect.

Despite this, I enjoyed seeing Thanato's softer, caring side, at least where Isaac is concerned. The progression of their relationship also worked for me.

I also liked Spider, Belle, and the rest of the guys and seeing them all work together to rescue Isaac and later to bring down the bad guys.

Even if the book was a bit repetitive, and the gratuitous violence was a bit too much at times, it was still an entertaining read that I have no trouble recommending if you like darker books.

So this book is not for the light hearted. If you have triggers tread carefully. I love me a good MM romance but this one is dark. We continue where book one leaves off. So we jump right into the mix of everything. The last thing we knew was that Isaac was taken and he threw Than out the van. So we know that Than has been fighting demons because of the things he endured when he was trying to rescue his sister. He has no qualms about taking a life. However, he never expected Isaac to come to mean something to him. Here we see him battling his mind about the horrors that Issac is going through. Then there is Isaac, what he went through and wondering how he will handle things. Will he be able to come out of the darkness in one piece. He was not just shattered physically but he was close to breaking mentally. The things he thought were troubling him about being a soldier with the things that he did and seen are nothing to what he goes through now. Then we have both Than and Isaac vying for vengeance and wanting to take out the bad guys. Both have a right at it but can Isaac follow through. Can Than help him through the darkness he is in? I can say that this book was really good. It is intense and full of emotions. Definitely looking forward to reading more from this author.
