Colors of the Heart #2

More Than Words

Rate this book
Although Bennett Kincaid loves what he does and makes a good living from it, his career path veers completely from everyone else in his family. His dad is a priest, his mom a retired schoolteacher, and his older twin brothers are a doctor and a detective. All he does is take pictures. And on top of feeling unworthy, he’s lonely. He wants what his best friend Ry has found...someone to cherish him, someone who won’t care if he is a lightweight in a world of heavyweights. He isn’t looking, of course, because who’s going to put up with his crazy schedule and long absences? He’ll just have to learn to embrace his loneliness...then, Jordan O’Leary shows up to make a mockery of his resolve.

At forty, math teacher Jordan O’Leary seems set for life. But in his deepest heart, the part he hides from the world, Jordan longs for someone to call his own. Watching his friend Mac marry the love of his life has stirred up all sorts of unexpected emotions. And meeting the charismatic Bennett Kincaid has only served to rattle him further. He’s uncomfortable with the way he feels about Bennett, but he’s powerless to resist the attraction. He knows they don’t fit. Their pasts, their upbringing, their ages, their life experiences…everything mitigates against them having more than hot hookups. Except that he’s too old for those, and anyway, he wants more.

Two single men crave the intimacy of commitment. Is it a match made in heaven?

The Photographer and the Teacher, sexy and fulfilling !
We have two men who are attracted to each other, but leery of the consequences they are up against.
The wedding they attended affected each man, made each one wish they had a someone special, and they became melancholy and brooding.
Bennett, 30, is slender and fit, blonde

and blue-gray eyed, Photographer. He has a big loving family, plus his Dad is a Preacher.
Jordan/Jay, 40, a silver fox is a Teacher,

who was a foster child throughout his childhood, and now has an accepting "chosen" family group.

After their first date, silence. Why are they not communicating, well, it's complicated. We learn each guys deep story and history, and begin to see their hesitation. These men really seem to fit, and belong together, but each is just as stubborn as the other. A good hashing out of the issues is coming. They need to try again.
The Italian Greyhounds, Marco and Polo, and Claus the cat were fun.

We see them in their super sexy times, and in their getting-to-know each other scenarios, too.

Family is important to each fellow, and we see how acceptance and understanding, along with caring and unconditional love can change the lives of many.

I liked the men, each separately and together. Jordan had a lot of baggage, but nothing is too much to work out between them.
ENJOY !

Jordan is an emotional runaway. His parents died when he was seven years old and he is afraid to trust that every one he loves will leave him. Foster care and a last foster parent he finds loves him for who he is and gets him on the road to success. He lives beside her and takes care of her and her dogs. He now has loving friends, a job he loves as a math teacher for struggling children...what he doesn't have is a man who he can love and keep forever...that is if he doesn't run first. Bennett is getting to be pretty famous as a photographer and goes all over for weeks at a time for photoshoots. He has a loving family and a best friend whom he loves. He now is the photographer for that friend at his wedding. What he doesn't have is a man he can love. Unfortunately his insecurities brought on by an accomplished family keeps him running from his feelings of uselessness as he believes his job is not as important as his parents or his twin brothers. He meets Jordan at the wedding with an instant attraction. recognizing their attraction the turn tail and run the other way. Neither willing to set aside their insecurities and fears to act on their attraction. There is a ton of angst, emotional insecurities, meddling friends and family and a love that grows and won't give up on two men who deserve more than they believe they deserve. Can these two men make their way to an HEA or will they continue to run from a fulfilling life. Good book and a series well worth reading.

Yay!!!!

I was so happy the second book of this series was about Bennett and Jordan finding their HEA with each other! It was not without it's proverbial bumps in the road mind you due to insecurities and past difficulties. I felt for Bennett and his insecurity of not being a contributor to the world around him like the rest of his family. Being the youngest is not always what it is cracked up to be, trust me! Jordan also had some insecurities to get past himself. But through it all, they had their BFF's, Ryland and Chandler along with a new character, to help them see what is right in front of them. The landlady/stand- in mom to Jay is wise and loving not to mention more observant than he ever thought she was. Bennett finds his family has always seen him as much of a success as his older brothers. Through their love and Jay's he finally realizes how important his photography is. They were a wonderful couple to read about because you could "see" how much they cared for each other. But reading how they overcame the obstacles thrown at them is a myriad of emotions. I admit at times each character frustrated me with how dense they could be but of course that is how we humans are sometimes. I was looking forward to reading this book and wasn’t disappointed. It was lovely to read how Ryland and Chandler are doing from book one and reading the blossoming love story in book two about Bennett and Jordan.
Both Bennett and Jordan are well developed characters that over the pages reveal more about themselves.
This is a well written story with lots of sexy times that get very hot.
I highly recommend this book. This is a wonderful series with great characters that are hot and sexy.

Bennett Kincaid, a photographer, feels very inadequate compared to everyone in his family. At the wedding of his best friend Ry, as he takes the wedding photos, he meets Jordan O’Leary, a math teacher. The attraction is there but Bennett travels a lot and Jordan comes with a lot of baggage and mostly the fear of being left alone again. I love the story of how these two come together despite all the fear and other issues. A very enjoyable read.

I received an ARC of this book for my honest review. I love this series and I’m glad to see this story is about Bennett and Jordan. Bennett has insecurities of not being a contributor to the world around him like the rest of his family. Jordan has his own insecurities. Jordan makes Bennett see how important his job is with helping not only his best friend Ry see things how he describes them but that he also helps a lot of people with the beautiful wedding photos he takes. I thought Jordan and Bennett were a great couple. SO hope there’s a book 3 in this series.

This started nice and slow, and got repetitive and boring really fast. We are made aware of the characters' insecurities an infinite amount of times. OK, we got it the first time. They are scared of intimacy and crave it at the same time. OK. I have up at the sex scene when one massages the other's balls "like stress balls". Not cute, babes, not cute. And how is Benny a sexy name?! Benny almost comes every time someone calls him that.

Overall good

I liked the book, it ended very sweetly. I did find myself very annoyed with Jordan though, I understand he has had a tough life but by 40 he should have found some closure. It took me longer than it should have to finish the book because of Jordan’s pity parties and contemplating giving up to read something else.

I received an ARC of this book for my honest review. And it took me months to read it because honestly I wasn't in a mood to read but this book is so good. This is the type of gay couples that I loved to read. Two normal guys that meet, get to know each other and get together with no major shenanigans.

Escape your life for a few minutes...

I love this book because it is low angst and high escape value. I love this book because there is no abuse. I love this book because both love interests are kind and hopeful. In addition my favorite song by the Style Council is featured during the proposal. This is a great book.
