This book presents factoids with great humor and it made me laugh out loud all the way through. Uncle John books are designed for quick reading but they give us much to ponder over: The section on the benefits of a vegan diet was one. I also read of how the sugar cube became a means of getting children vaccinated without the frightening needles. Some people would have liked more depth but the editors goal was to present fascinating and important facts in an entertaining way. If you love this type of book than this book is for you.
Every year I get one of these for Christmas. Every year I read the first third or so the intended way (on the toilet), then I scramble in December to finish it before receiving my next gift. This one was just as good as the previous. I can't get enough trivia. I only wish they'd go back to a cover flush with the pages. I usually read lying down; this cover pokes me and leaves marks on my skin. Oh well. A simple enough problem for great factoids.
I love the Uncle John’s Readers. You can read about lots of interesting topics and some incredible history! Did you know that there is a poison garden in England? Uncle John told me about it.
Pretty standard. Some good, some dull, some meh. But it is a good BR reader and so it is exactly what I wanted. I wasn't looking for an award winner or in-depth discussion or even something to make you go hmmm.... I just wanted the odd story to entertain me for a bit whilst I kilt time.
I borrowed this 2x. I didn't finish, and I still had shit's to give ha ha ha.
Another entry in the always interesting Uncle John series. Fun facts, anecdotes, and amusing tidbits are peppered throughout this read in short, medium, and long articles. Can't say this is any better than any of the previous versions, but I certainly enjoyed it.
This series is still the gold standard of bathroom readers. They always succeed at finding new stories, but include the popular series like stupid criminals and bathroom related inventions.
