If you have ever questioned the role of the Holy Spirit in our lives, this is the book for you. If you have a desire to understand and know more how God calls you to His purpose, this book will help guide you. If you are looking for a book to do with a group, this one has a study guide already in it and will most definitely encourage conversation. I always love a book I have made lots of highlights and annotations in! Pastor Cummings has written this book with ever level in mind. It has surface ideas for the beginner with great Biblical context but at the same dives deep to get you to really think about your own beliefs. It is with confidence I can recommend this book!

The Holy Spirit has always intrigued me. As someone who was raised in a fundamentally conservative denomination, I was taught the Holy Spirit’s role in the life of believers today was that of convicting them of sin and pointing them to Jesus to save them from those sins. I was taught the gifts of the Spirit such as speaking in tongues or prophesy had ceased.

I later began to attend churches that were open to the moving of the Holy Spirit; however, some taught that you had to speak in tongues as a sign you had received the baptism of the Spirit. It was very confusing to those who felt intimidated or uncomfortable with speaking in tongues.

I appreciate that Lee Cummings has studied this subject thoroughly and is able to clarify biblically how the Spirit of God presents Himself in the life of believers. In the book, he answers questions about who the Holy Spirit is, if and why believers should speak on tongues, the nine gifts of the Spirit, and what a Spirit-empowered life looks like.

I highly recommend School of the Spirit. It’s well-written and easily understandable. The readers will walk away with a clear understanding of the Holy Spirit and will learn how to invite him into their lives in a real and personal way.

I started out reading because it such a controversial subject. I kept reading because it gave me some insight and understanding of the difference in how the Holy Spirit works. "Believers often shy away from the Holy Spirit because we don't know who He really is or what He might do." This line really made me think. It is so true. I was afraid to really ask questions. I attended a couple services that made me feel it was phony. The book made me feel He is real. I am still praying and thinking.

School of the Spirit by Lee M. Cummings is about having a closer relationship with God through the Holy Spirit. One of the things that stood out to me is on page 21, "The Holy Spirit, the one who comes alongside us, has the same quality and likeness as Jesus." When I read this, I thought that I never thought of the Holy Spirit being like Jesus and is close to us personally. This book is for anyone who is interested in learning more about the Holy Spirit and how the Holy Spirit shapes us into being better people.

This is a timely read for such a time as this. Growing up around very charismatic people in the church I actually was a little timid toward Holy Spirit because of some of their bizarre behavior. I think many believers and non believers alike have a very warped understanding of who and what Holy Spirit is for us. This take a very matter of fact, non condemning and simplistic way to explain a MUCH needed part of our walk with the Lord. If you want to understand the 3 person of the God Head better and His role in YOUR life... read this!!

This is a readable, concise and practical guide to the Person and work of the Holy Spirit! Highly recommended for those wanting to go deeper in the charismatic gifts of the Spirit and for those who are new to a more charismatic expression of Christianity. Lee does a great job speaking honestly and accurately about the Holy Spirit by highlighting relevant Scripture passages and telling practical and relatable stories to support his points!

You are encouraged to get to know The Holy....Getting to know the Spirit as a person, the 3rd part of the Trinity, can often be scary, and some believers even shy away from the Holy Spirit because we don’t know who He really is or what He might do. But if you'll allow Him in to start changing things almost immediately! "If you trust Jesus, then you can trust the Holy Spirit too." Lee M. Cummings does it superbly and biblically!

“There has never been a moment in your life as a believer when the Holy Spirit was not working in you for your benefit.”

This is a perfect book to keep on hand for reference and to be reminded of the essentialism of the Holy Spirit.

This book is unlike any other book you have read on the Holy Spirit. I would even go so far as to say you have probably never heard much of this from the pulpit either.  Why? Because western Christians tend to be uncomfortable with discussing the supernatural.

Each chapter has a study guide that is perfect for personal study or small group discussion.

I received this book FREE from the author, publisher, distributer or other source. My only obligation is to provide a fair and honest review.
