Pretend? You’ve got to be kitten me.

Grey is back in town after five years and is ready to take his career to the next level. When he goes out with some coworkers to celebrate his first day, he sees Jamison and all the feels from their time together come flooding back. Next thing he knows they are going to a destination wedding together as dates which would be a lot easier if he didn’t long to still call him Daddy.

Jamison misses his boy. Even five years later he longs for their time together, but he wasn’t the daddy Grey needed. When Grey ends up at the same bar as him, things quickly escalate into a date in Vegas. Jamison sets his eyes on showing Grey he has more to offer and soon discovers that Grey also has another side—his kitten side.

Can a pretend date rekindle what once was or better yet, can it become what they had both longed for all those years ago?

Happy Faking Plus One is a sweet with heat MM romance set in the world of Collared Ever After. It features a daddy who misses his boy, a kitten who has found himself and is ready for more than just a casual relationship, an ex who accidentally brought them back together, a destination wedding in Vegas, some minor ABDL, a set of furry cat ears, a whole lot of possessive rubbing, and a happily ever after. 4.5 stars, rounded up.

This book is only 97 pages. It's rare for me to rate such a short story over 4 stars. In this case, I couldn't not. I absolutely loved Jamison and Grey. They were so good together. It's the perfect second chance romance story.

Overall, this is one of the sweetest love stories ever. If there ever was a perfect fictional couple, it’s Jamison and Grey.

As with all other age and pet play books, if it’s not your thing, do the author a favor and don’t read it. While the kinks aren’t as ‘out there’ as in some books I’ve read, they’re still there.

So I read this one in preparation for the second book that's a holiday book in the series and I actually had to do a double take when I read this summary because it sounded so similar to another Della Cain book that was in the dirty Daddy's Pride anthology. After reading it I realized that they are different enough, but the premise is almost exactly the same and threw me off majorly.

This book is fine. I don't really have anything negative to say about it I don't have too much positive to say about it. It wasn't super memorable and the fact that I can barely remember the main character's names after a week and a half and the only reason I know that it is about kinky age play is because it's Della Cain.

Jamison used to have his very own Little boy named Grey. However a few years ago Grey told Jamison that he had to leave. Grey had been offered a more important and better paying job far away. Grey also said that he needed to be on his own for awhile to learn who he really was. Since Jamison was a good Daddy, he let Grey go even though he still loved him. Since then Jamison hasn't been able to find a boy that fit him even though he made the mistake of trying with his boss. One Friday Jamison finds himself pressured into going out with his coworkers. His boss is trying to push Jamison into going to their mutual friends wedding together. Jamison is very uncomfortable and claims he has a date and to his huge surprise, Grey comes up and rescues him. Jamison is thrilled to see Grey again but he isn't sure what this all means. Will Grey go to a destination wedding with him and will they go as just friends or more?

Grey has loved Jamison for a long time. After leaving Jamison, he has learned a lot about himself. The job he chased was too demanding and stressful. He learned that besides having a Little side that he also has a kitten side. Now he has quit that old job and has a new job in his old hometown. He very much wants to meet up with Jamison again and see if they can start over again but he is very nervous. Since it is his first day at the new job, he qagrees to meet his coworkers at a bar. As he is looking for them, he spots Jamison talking with a man looking very uncomfortable. He decides to rescue Jamison and to his surprise he finds himself agreeing to go to a wedding with Jamison. This is their chance to see if they can truly be togethr

Happy Faking Plus One makes me VERY Happy!

-This is the first book I've read by this author, but it won't be the last. With well-written main characters (Grey and Jamison), colorful secondary characters, road trips, emotional growth, tons of humor, and a second chance Daddy/little love story, I couldn't stop reading. Della Cain's writing demonstrates care for the reader, good pacing, and a great sense of humor. Who hasn't had an after work gathering with co-workers that you just wish you could leave? Add in meeting a former lover, and I am ready for the ride. What I really loved about Cain's writing style is that she takes nothing for granted - including the knowledge that the reader brings to the stories. Details flow seamlessly with funny side parts. One realistic example is when Grey and Jamison are reluctant to run up the stairs at Grey's apartment because of well... stairs. These are not show offs, but real characters with understandable flaws.

My biggest delight as a reader is how Della Cain gives the reader the experience of a full conclusion before any epilogue with ample time given to the Jamison, Grey, and the amazing world of Daddies, littles, pups, switches, and kittens. The HEA is very satisfying and believable. I enjoyed the epilogue because Cain took the time to fully wrap up this slice of Grey and Jamison's story first.

This was a book that I never wanted to end. Thankfully, there are more in the series.

I've read all of Della's books thus far and I'm familiar with her world and characters. My biggest issue with this book was the lack of character and story development.

The beginning of this book felt like a story already in progress. I don't have any recollection of these characters from her other books. (I'll be the first to admit that I can't always remember characters so maybe I missed them), so to immediately be thrown into this world without knowledge of these 2 was a bit weird.

We're given little to no information about the 2 of them. We get very few bits of their past relationship and why Grey left, but we don't get any other information and it was hard to connect to either of them.

There also seems to be a few holes in the story. Why did Grey not keep in touch with his friends? Did Jamison and Knox know each other at work before dating?

This is also the second character in this world who's a little and a kitten and scared to tell their Daddy. Hopefully going forward, we'll get characters that are a bit more unique.

It's not a bad book at all. It just could have been better with more about the MCs, etc. For a stand alone, it doesn't really stand alone.

Cute story of a couple who split 5 years ago for the little to learn to stand up on his own and pursue his career. He's back in town and runs into his ex who is awkwardly trying to avoid attending a mutual friend's wedding with his ex/boss. Grey intervenes and they fake that they are dating again and he agrees to go to the Vegas wedding, but he's not only a little anymore, he's now a kitten and unsure if Jamison can deal with that.

It's low angst, they agree to "fake it" for the wedding weekend but are soon back full speed and Jamison is getting to know Grey and his new kinks and personality. I prefer second chance when there wasn't drama with the split. There wasn't cheating or whatever, they just were young enough to head off and learn about themselves rather than stick together. There are lots of characters from previous series so if you want to know who Evan or Declan or some of the other friends are you'll need to read those but you don't need to know them read this. Kittens are a change as well which was interesting.

Back in town after five years, Grey is ready to take his career to the next level. When he is out with some coworkers he sees Jamison and everything from their time together come rushing back. Before he knows it he has agreed to go to a destination wedding with him as a date and all he wants is to be able to call him Daddy again. Jamison misses his boy and he is determined to show him that he has more to offer and soon discovers that Grey has another side as a kitten.

I liked this story with the two men reconnecting and learning about all of the changes that had happened while they were apart. I loved the way that Jamison was a typical Daddy who had studied all he could about caring for a kitten. I did find the reasons they originally split and the way they got back together a little forced but it was still an enjoyable story. Easy tor read, feel and understand. This is an MM story with mature content and a DDLB dynamic with kitten play too.

This book is absolutely wonderful!! A sweet story about a daddy, Jamison and his little, Grey. They were together until Grey’s need to figure out who he was broke them apart. Now, five years later, he’s back in town and has the same feelings for Jamison that he used to. And so does Jamison. They end up going to a friend’s wedding together and try being daddy and little again for the weekend. But when the weekend ends, neither is ready for things to change and they agree to give it another try. Grey has found a new side to himself and hopes that Jamison will still want to be with him. He does and it will lead them to the happily ever after they weren’t able to get five years ago.

Not communicating can stretch out a broken relationship. Grey and Jamison have history. Grey, moved away because of personal ambition and wanting to learn independence. Jamison felt he needed to give Grey his space. Five years later they accidentally met again. They accidentally end up going together to a mutual friend's wedding. They don't communicate, so everything is off the cuff. How awkward will the wedding be? Do they ever talk, or do they let distractions stop them? Are the life changes, good or bad? Does Jamison like Grey's kitten? Nice story. Grey and Jamison are sweet. Nicely done. I Received an ARC and am voluntarily leaving a review.

I loved this book! Grey and Jamison get a really sweet and moving HEA! These two were really cute together. I loved the connection and the chemistry between these two and how they continues as through 5 years never happened but also falling in love all over again with the men they are now. This was an awesome book and I can't wait to see what Ms. Della has in store for us next! I would highly recommend this book and the other works for Ms. Della as she is an awesome author.

Oh my gosh!! This was a fantastic second chance story!! I think this was the best one I've read by this author yet!! Once upon a time Grey and Jamison were together but Grey had to leave because he had been offered a better paying job far away! Jamison tried to find another boy who would fit him, but never could. Fast forward they meet again and reconnect again. Ohhh!! This story gave me so many feels. It was sooo good, it was really well written, highly recommend.

This is a zero angst take on the fake-dating trope— Grey and Jamison are amicable exes whose reunion quickly, and sweetly, goes from “for show” to “for real.” They’re both good to and for each other, and Jamison adapts easily to Grey’s kitten as well as his little side. The plot moves quickly, as does the romance, but nothing feels left out as they establish a new relationship on the foundations of their old one. It’s super sweet, and if that sounds like your thing, this is a good fit for you.

A boy no longer lost has found his way back to his Daddy. This was short with the right amount sweetness and a little steam . I love how Della sets up the story so well so when you start reading you can delve right into the story without confusion. So when Grey unexpectedly meets Jamison after 5 years apart, you as a reader can see that the love is still there...took them no time to reconnect. I really enjoyed reading their sweet romance and this was nice addition to the ongoing Collared series. Nice!

Cute story

This was just so cute and full of all my favorite tropes. This book had a little bit of everything, kitten play, second chances, no angst, fake relationship, and a cute little who’s looking for a daddy. I also got to visit with some previous characters but it works well as a stand-alone. This was so good and I can’t wait to read the next book.

Yay!!!

Nothing makes me happier than when a new series has ties to an older one. It makes me love all of them more. I loved how there wasn’t a lot of angst in here. Though every time Knox showed up I got nervous. That was handled perfectly., which is good considering what is coming next lol.

Happy Faking Plus One is another excellent book by Della Cain. I loved Jamison and Grey. Grey was so cute as both a little and a kitten, and Jamison was the perfect daddy for them.

I look forward to reading more Daddy/little books by Della Cain.

This was an outstanding read. My only wish would be more playtime scenes. Both little and kitten. The chemistry between Jamison and Grey is so vibrant. I loved the connection to all the other characters from Collard referenced.

Fun start to a new series!

I loved Grey and Jamison’s story! It’s short, sweet, and warm-hearted. It’s always fun to catch up with the Collared Ever After gang and add more couples into the mix. I’m looking forward to Knox’s story!

Jamison and Grey were so sweet together. I loved how they reconnected without too much drama. Grey needed to grow up a bit to appreciate his daddy fully. This sexy sweet love story makes you feel good.

DNF - Not for Me . . .

I was unfortunately blind-sided by the ABDL kink theme that is part of this book or I would never have taken it for review. I don’t think I can even try to fairly review this. I love the cover of the book, just can’t deal with the content.
