As a reality show producer, Anna Gilbert knows how to craft a happily ever after that will make viewers (more specifically the 18-49 demographic) swoon. Never mind that her own life is far from swoon-worthy. Coming off not only a divorce but also a nearly career-ending mistake, Anna is determined to put last year’s dramatics on the backburner and concentrate all her energy on making this season of The One the best yet.
She has to.
Last season’s bachelor was run over by a limo, and his fiancé is now on trial for his murder. There’s nothing romantic or happy about manslaughter, and the network is threatening to pull the plug if this season doesn’t run smoothly.
No fires. No hiccups. And no more dead bodies—that’s for sure.
That seems like an easy feat until death threats start pouring in, and the bachelor goes missing. With no time to spare, Anna reluctantly recruits the help of PI Clark Salvador who is an ex-marine, ex-security guard, and also her ex-husband. Sparks fly—both figuratively and literally as the two sets out to find the missing bachelor. The trail is hot, and they stumble upon disturbing evidence that has Anna questioning everything.
One thing's for sure, Anna and Clark need to act quickly, otherwise, the show isn't the only thing that's about to be canceled.

Super cute rom-com. I read this in the Love in the City earlier anthology and loved it. Anna is a producer of a reality dating show. Grant works security there, and they were/are/used-to-be a thing. But when the show ends with a murder, Anna’s world tilts upside down. Eight months later, she’s trying to resurrect her show for her bosses, but the groom-to be goes missing the first day of production. Now, she’s got a missing groom to find, a mystery to solve, an ex to keep at bay (though she needs his help), and two psycho bosses to keep in the dark about everything that’s gone wrong. This story was hilarious. Lots of romantic tension, kind of an enemies-to-lovers/second chances story. I read it super quick and enjoyed every page.
Anna helps to produce a Bachelor style show, but the bachelor goes missing right before filming. Her investigator ex, Clark, helps her search for clues (and frustrates her immensely) but finding the bachelor is a time sensitive issue, with Anna's job also on the line.
This was a fun, cozy mystery. I liked both Anna and Clark. The behaviour of the contestants on this show was crazy! And funny.
Well, Anna’s life is a complete dumpster fire! A hilarious, out of control, full of explosives, dumpster fire. I love that she tries so hard and still can’t control anything! I love that she is a cat lover. I love her idea for a new job…true crime reality show. Should prove interesting! I hope there are more adventures!
Just to be upfront, there is no happily ever after in this one. I was expecting it from the other review but nada. It’s kind of maybe it will happen and I don’t care for non resolution type stories. It was good till that though.
