This is a really great, strong debut romance! I absolutely loved it! It's romantic and swoony with all the FEELS. It's a rockstar romance--Jax is a rockstar who bumps into Charlie, a former dancer, backstage, and they both have that sparkling chemistry. Their road to love isn't easy, but it pulls you in, and you're cheering for them the whole way. The characters are fantastic, and the love story is unputdownable. It's just really well done. Don't mis this one!!!
"Love grows with every beat of their hearts. I really enjoyed Jackson and Charlotte's story. These characters grabbed hold of me from the moment that Jackson first saw Charlotte to rooting for him at the end. This is a story of complex characters and life experiences. Love happens when you least expect it and for two people who had never been in relationships the learning curve was steep. I loved that Charlie didn't change who she was for Jackson. Underneath the rock star, Jackson was humble and willing to own up to his mistakes. The lengths he went to make Charlie happy were swoon worthy. This story had a fair amount of self doubt and angst but it all worked for me.
""Turning back to her is like being caught in her orbit, and I can't help but move closer."" ~ Jackson"
Breanna Lynn's debut book is one you'll read in one sitting. The characters are amazing, and the word building is on point. Jax and Charlie's story will have your emotions all over the place as you see them fight for the happiness they deserve. I've already downloaded the second book and can't wait to read the entire series!
I didn't realize WRITTEN IN THE BEAT was basically a New Adult romance but I was really liking the beginning. Charlie was a sweet and genuine FMC and Jackson was a sexy MMC and their chemistry was fun and bright with plenty of spice. However, in true NA fashion the angst started to build and then other woman drama started and I was getting frustrated.
Charlie has never really had a relationship before so she's hesitant and nervous and gets upset when pictures of Jackson and another woman (an up-and-coming singer) at a night club hit the news. I feel like Jackson never really explained what happened and then it made no sense that Jackson's label, who are pushing him to be more public with Charlie to showcase him in a positive light, insist that he walk the red carpet with the woman from the previous pictures. Why would his label add fuel to the rumors that he cheated when they keep demanding he look like a devoted boyfriend? Make it make sense! A quick peek at some other reviews showed me that the drama continues with Jackson getting caught kissing (or maybe almost kissing) that same other woman while drunk, so I'm going to have to bail. Jackson clearly has some issues and I just can't believe that he and Charlie can make it as a couple if he continually disappoints and hurts her.
Oh Wow I really enjoyed reading this Rockstar Romance by New Author Breanna Lynn. I Loved getting lost in Jax and Charlie's rocky road to Love, because believe me it is not an easy journey. There seems to be so many obstacles getting in the way, with their individual problems in their lives to deal with, and then trying to navigate a long distance relationship in the spotlight.Which is not an ideal senario for a new romance to blossom. Charlie is trying to reignite her dancing career after an injury and Jax is trying to stay out of trouble with his record label breathing down his neck. The pressure to not mess up may be detrimental to his personal life,he is trying to make everyone happy and balancing the two is harder than he expected. Breanna Lynn has done an excellent job writing a sexy, yet sweet romance, there is so much more to this story than just two people falling in Love. This is a fantastic book that warmed my heart and it was so difficult to put down when I had to...I am so glad I got to read this book and I am sure we will hear great things about Breanna Lynn in the future.I highly recommend this book. Excellent 5 Star read.
I have come across more than one debut book this week, and all of them were seriously perfect with Written in the Beat on that perfect debut list. I can honestly say that I was all in from the jump with both Jax & Charlie as they were two people that I cheered for cover to cover. He's a rock star in trouble with his label, while she's a dancer who has been on the sidelines from an injury, and the moment they come face to face, the sparks are flying in all directions. Neither have much experience in the relationship department, so there are some bumps in the road just from that, because they made mistakes. The biggest takeaway from that was the fact that they were adult enough to own up to said mistakes which is a couple I can get behind 100%. Written in the Beat was an emotional story that really hit me hard in the feels, and everyone needs this story in their lives! HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
This debut story from Breanna Lynn has everything you could want in a rock star romance. It is really well done with believable characters that you will be engrossed with as you follow their story.
Jax is the world wise, hot and sexy bad boy rock star struggling to keep his label happy while trying to stay true to himself. Charlie is dancer recovering from a devastation injury and hoping to put her career back on track. Jax and Charlie meet when she comes joins his tour to hang out with her friend Meredith. When Jax sees the beautiful Charlie he is immediately drawn to her and is definitely intrigued when she obviously has no idea who he is.
I loved watching Charlie gain enough confidence to take a chance on love and on her fulfilling her career dreams and Jax finding the happiness he has been looking for. As always their story does not run smoothly, there are ups, downs and misunderstandings but even so Breanna brings us to a unexpected but wonderfully romantic ending that will make you swoon. An excellent debut book from this new author and I look forward to reading more from her.
Book: Written in the beat Read By: Ebook and Audio Author: Breanna Lynn Narrator: Stephan Dexter and Callie Dalton Genre: Romance Main Characters: Charlie and Jax Recommend: yes Spice: 🌶️️ 🌶️️ Age recommendation: 18-30+ Years My feelings:
Great fluffy and feely love story. Could really do with more smut to help carry the story, but the story dose manage top pull you in with all the heart flutters. The chemistry was fantastic, and the struggles they faced were realistic and left you cheering them on the whole way:)
“I’ve missed you, you know.” She smiles, but just as quickly turns serious. “I couldn’t believe what I saw that night. I never, ever would have predicted that. I kept telling Charlie over and over again that you were someone she could trust. Someone she could rely on.”

A debut novel about rockstars! I love the writing, characters and read it in one sitting.
Jackson/Jax is your bad boy rockstar. Charlotte/Charlie is recovering from an injury but a dancer. Meredith is Charlie’s college friend and Jax’s childhood friend. Currently, Meredith is on Jax’s tour as a choreographer. Charlie comes to visit Meredith as the tour is in her town. Still with me?
Now you know how Charlie and Jax meet, follow them as their chemistry develops. The struggles of time apart and will she dance again? Can she handle his life on the road and in the public eye?
Written in the Beat, Breanna Lynn’s debut novel, is a contemporary rock star romance told in first person, dual POV. It follows the relationship between Jax Bryant, a rising pop artist trying to clean up his image, and Charlotte “Charlie” Walker, a dancer who recently recovered from a potentially career-ending injury.
After a year off for recovery, Charlie wants to re-enter the professional dance world, but she’s not sure if she has what it takes anymore. Nannying for her little sister was supposed to be temporary, but her parents act like it’s her job and Charlie’s sick of it.
A year ago, Jax made some big, very public mistakes, and he’s been on thin ice with his record label ever since. But being on his best behavior is frustrating when it’s never acknowledged and the label keeps throwing the past in his face.
When Jax and Charlotte meet, they have an instant connection and soon embark on a long-distance relationship while he’s away on tour. But misunderstandings and Jax’s impulsive behavior cause trouble. Has he ruined a good thing before it’s really begun?
I really enjoyed Jax and Charlotte’s love story. As characters, they were both engaging, fully developed, and likeable. Both had issues to overcome, and it was easy to root for them as they struggled to find their happy ending. The story was romantic, emotional, and sweet. A strong debut! I look forward to reading the next book in the Heart Beats series.
Written in the Beat by Breanna Lynn is a good, and enjoyable steamy accidental baby instalove rock star romance read. The story has a good story line. The characters are good, and they have good chemistry.
. I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
If you like imperfect heroes, virgin heroines, and insta-loves with hot smexy times and a side of groveling, Breanna Lynn's got what you’re looking for. Great debut novel with a good dose of angst, this story is a bit of an emotional rollercoaster ride as Jax and Charlie try to navigate their way through dating in the spotlight, complicated by long distances. Really well written with great characters. I can’t see where this author goes next!
Written in the beat Is the first book in the (Heart Beats Book ) series . It is also Breanna Lynn’s Debut book , which is truly hard to believe . I am completely in love with her writing. All I can really say is WOW !!! The characters , the whole entire story is just , so addicting. I went in with a very open mind , as I knew I loved rock star romances , but was not sure what to expect . Be prepared, it hooks you from the very first page and does not let go . Jax is a 21 year old rockstar , and truly gorgeous in every way .Meredith Is his choreographer as well as a close family friend, who used to be a dancer in NYC with her best friend Charlotte/ Charlie. Jax and Meredith travel to Colorado for a concert , this is where the story really picks up as Charlie comes to visit .Everything changed when she meets Jax for the very first time . This is not only a bit of a insta love romance / but it’s a little bit of a slow burn as well .for certain realms Meredith ends up having to leave early , but Jax and Charlie ,continue to get to know each other better in person And via phone calls .. I could not stop reading literally , there is so much chemistry between these two . Not to mention surprises you will not see coming ( for example ) Charlie gets invited to Vegas by both Meredith and Jax , as he cannot stop thinking about her . I loved loved. Seeing the development in their relationship. There are many obstacles and difficulties they both face ( such as long distance dating ) Jax does make some really bad decisions, that could literally cost him , Any chance he had with Charlie . There were moments I just wanted to scream , not to mention Whack him over the head . And yes my heart broke for Charlie so many times throughout the book .will they both be able to find a way to work though their issues , and end up together . You really need to go grab this Book !! It’s just that good ❤️
I am completely smitten with this book. It is hard to believe it is a debut novel. Breanna Lynn writes like a seasoned author. Her characters are engaging and well rounded. There is never a dull moment thanks to her spot on pacing and whew....does she know how to take a sweet scene to steamy. Get your fans ready. So let’s get down to the nitty gritty of Jackson and Charlotte.
Jackson aka Jax is a sexy rockstar touring the country and singing his heart out. Reckless behavior from previous tours has him faced with an ultimatum for this tour, change his bad boy behavior or he is going to be dropped like a sack of potatoes. And that is something he cannot allow. Not only would he be letting down his family but also the entire crew such as Meredith, his childhood friend. But after meeting Meredith’s best friend Charlotte “Charlie” at his show in Denver he has a whole new reason to behave. Will he be able to shake his bad press once and for all, or will the storm catch back up with him? Can he juggle everything and build and nurture his new relationship with Charlotte or will he loss her for good?
Charlotte is stuck in a rut. Recovering from a dance related injury, she has been living with her parents for the last year as the unpaid nanny to her three year old sister. Heading to Denver to see a concert and hang out with her best friend Meredith is a much needed relief. What Charlotte didn’t expect was to meet Jax. The attraction is instant and something she isn’t familiar with. She has seen so called “love” in the form of her parents and is not prepared to travel down that road. But the pull to this sexy rockstar is too much and he seem to feel it too. Could this be it, this epic love she has heard so much about? Can she trust in someone who is constantly roaming? Can she handle being part of that lifestyle?
Grab your copy of Written in the Beat and find out. You will not be disappointed and you can join me in rooting for this author to give us more!
Breanna writes a sweet strangers to lover story in Written in the Beat. Who would have thought that a visit to an old friend would end up with falling for a famous singer.
Charlie has only ever wanted to dance but that unfortunately changed when she had surgery. She has been invited to visit her good friend Mer, who is a choreographer on the tour of a famous singer, Jackson. She meets Jax, Jackson, and has no idea that he is a famous singer and he is a very good friend of Mers. She is taken back by his looks and charm. Mer wants her to join her on tour and help out with the choreography but Charlie is hesitant because of her injury and the fact that even though she is twenty-two her parents really are not supporting her and her dance. What happens when she finds out that Jax is a famous singer? When she agrees to go on a date with him does she think that he is only looking for a hook-up?
Jax is not the typical famous singer that is into hook-up and playing the field. His reputation over the last year had gotten him into trouble with his label and he is skating on thin ice. He meets Charlie and his heart goes crazy. He wants to get to know her but she is leaving the next night and he is going on tour. Can they try and make it work?
Over time they try but Charlie gets her heart broken more than once by Jax. She has news that she knows she needs to share but is not sure how he will take it. Things go from bad to worse and can she heal from the hurt that she has felt? will Jax prove himself to Charlie that he is worth the chance that he is asking for?
I enjoyed reading this book. Music and strangers to lovers stories are always interesting to read. Breanna does a great job for her debut novel. She has you feeling for the characters and their situations. At times the twists that she throws in does have your stomach in knots. I look forward to reading more from her in the future.
4.5 Stars for Written in the Beat. What a wonderful start to a romance writing career, Written in the Beat is first book in the Heart Beat Series and it’s the debut romance novel from Breanna Lynn and if this book is any to go by she will certainly have a hit series and a very successful career ahead of her. It’s well written with wonderful characters and it will draw you in and won’t let you go until you have read the final words. Jax is an up and coming music star but his life isn’t all it’s cracked up to be, the record company and his agent are constantly on his back and it seems he is forever making the wrong choices. He knows his dreams are about to come true if he can keep out of trouble but the moment he walks into a room and sees a stunning woman dancing alone he knows his dreams are about to turn upside down..... Charlie lived for dancing until an injury put her out for a year, she is at a crossroads in her life and needs to decide if dancing is still her dream and more importantly will her parents let her walk away to pursue that dream. Fate seems to be working in her favour when she meets up with of her best friend who is now a choreographer for a new music star but will this meeting lead to a HEA or will dreams be broken for both Jax and Charlie....I guess you need to read the book to find that out. This is a book with all the feels, I swooned, I sighed, I smiled and at times I held my breath as Jax and Charlie negotiate the world of fame. I adored all the characters in this story and I can’t wait for the next book in the Heart Beats Series, if you love rockstars and romance Written in the Beat should certainly be on you radar. Great start to what look likes a very promising career for Ms Lynn.
For the last year Charlie has been living at home again. Rehabbing her ankle from stress fractures, teaching a couple dance classes and helping her parents take care of her baby sister. When her best friend who is a dancer for rock star, she invites Charlie to come to the concert so they can spend some time together. While there, Charlie meets Jackson but has no clue that he is the famous singer everyone loves. They both immediately feel a connection and decide to try and have long distance relationship. Can their young love survive the music industry and social media?
Jackson was a ding dong that made some dumb choice. He needed a good head smack a few times. But I loved him. He has a good heart and it was clear that he adored Charlie. I loved how Charlie gained so much strength and fought for herself and what she wanted. Gave me all the warm fuzzies. I was totally confused about Nick. One minute he is pushing their relationship to clean up Jax's image but then he is pushing Jax to walk the red carpet with an up coming popstar to give the illusion they are dating . . . and then he is giving Jax advice to not let Charlie out of his life because life is short. It was beyond confusing and I didn't like the way he was written at all. Either make him a friend or a villain, the waffling just didn't work for me. BUT Charlie and Jackson were amazing. I loved watching their love grow and develop. They were so stinking sweet and cute.

I'm mad at Meredith. Jax apologized to her and she forgave him without him explaining the kiss or being with another woman. Meredith immediately decides to help him with Charlie back. like what kind of best friend are you? lol Yeah you can forgive him because ya'll were friends... but helping him .. without him explaining or making him suffer... come on! Not to mention he kissed Michaela when HE BELIEVED him and Charlie were still together. He still said she was his gf so that was cheating. Even though Charlie said it was over.. the fact he didn't believe it was over and still did that.. is what pissed me off. Like how will she know he wont do that again?
I feel like he needed more suffering. Honestly, after that kiss I was done with him. I knew what happened with him and Michaela walking together..and I didn't agree that he didn't tell Charlie especially since she was the woman who she had seen him with in the pictures before hand.. not to mention you could tell she liked him and it already looked like he had cheated on Charlie with her or that he liked her too... so him not telling her was majorly fucked up and his thinking 'its good she wont be here so she wont get hurt' shit made me mad. But at that point he was forgivable after some groveling.. but that kiss happened and I was like NOPE lol
Either way it was such a good story. I still was mad at him at the end, but I really enjoyed reading it.
Spice 1/5 Humor 1/5 Emotional 2/5 World Building 4/5 Overall 4/5
This is a debut story by a brand new author and I am in love with her writing, the characters and the whole story.
This is a rock star romance about 21 year old Jax who is the rocker. His choreographer is Meredith and she is a close family friend and Meredith was a dancer in NYC with her best friend, Charlotte/Charlie when they attended dance school there. Now Meredith tours with Jax and they are both in Colorado for a concert and Charlie comes to visit her but also she meets Jax for the first time.
This story has a bit of insta lust but they only get one date when Jax and Meredith have to leave. But Jax and Charlie continue chatting on the phone and getting to know each other. That is until Vegas and Meredith and Jax invite her to join them.
Long distance dating is very tough on both Jax and Charlie. There are many ups and downs and at some point Jax gets really stupid and he loses Charlie and he deserves to lose her. I applaud her for not taking him back easily and making him work for it.
I hope the author turns this into a series because I really loved many of the supporting characters.
I received a free ARC copy of this book from the author prior to release and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Breanna Lynn knocked her debut into contemporary romance out of the park.
Jackson and Charlie are sweet but steamy love goals.
Jackson starts off as the bad boy in need of redemption and then along comes Charlie who's at her own crossroads of sorts.
Does she keep shooting for her dreams of being a dancer of will she be a reluctant babysitter for the rest of her life?
The two aren't without their struggles, Jackson's entire way of life is alien to the shy reserved Charlotte and while she finds her footing along with some gumption they both have to embrace their inner Diamond Rio and Meet in the Middle.
See what I did there?
Watching their love story build it's melody and cross across the pages of my kindle was pure musical beauty in its basest definition. Highly recommend this book.
Brenna Lynn started this debut novel off strong. You will be drawn in from the very beginning. This story is an emotional rollercoaster ride. You can feel the characters emotions as you read page after page. The characters are superbly written. Charlie is a dancer that is recovering from an injury. Jackson is a bad boy musician trying to fix his image. There is an instant attraction between them and sparks start flying. The character development is well done. Individually and together as a couple they make it threw the ups and downs of their relationship. Can’t wait to read the next book. Will definitely plan to have a day off work to read it. Sleepless nights from reading threw the night gets harder as you get older. I voluntarily reviewed this book after receiving an arc copy for an honest review.
Written in the Beat is book one of three in the Heart Beat series of interconnected standalones. First I want to thank Breanna for sending me this book in exchange for my honest review. Secondly, I am blown away that this is her debut novel! It’s an absolutely beautiful story and I can’t wait to read the others in this series!
Charlotte is a dancer that was injuries and has been living at her parent for the past year to recover. Jackson is a party boy rocker who has spent the last year trying to clean up his image so that he doesn’t lose his contract with his recording label. After a chance meeting at a tour stop, Charlotte and Jackson hit it off. After several misunderstandings Charlotte is ready to end their relationship and put herself first by going after the career she’s always dreamed of.
This story had angst (by the truckload), heartbreak, secrets, betrayal, friendship, and so many emotions! It was so beautifully written and I fell in love with Jackson and Charlotte.
Not that you readers care, but I have been in a horrible book slump for a good month now. So I did the smart thing and turned to a reader group. They did not disappoint me with this recommendation!
Fans of Kacey Shea should love this sweet (and steamy) rock star romance debut. I binged it in half a day, only because I was also required to do things like sleep before work.
The perfect read for anyone who loves a good dance movie or comeback story.
Also, it is listed as Heart Beats book 1. Do you know what this means? Hopefully it means we will see Meredith and Dylan get books too! 😉 No spoilers, but even though he only appeared briefly British rock star Dylan Graves is definitely swoon worthy!
“Rocked” its way straight to the top of 2021’s list of favorites!
Jax and Charlie’s love story was one for the top 100 charts! Struggling to overcome challenges, distance, and the ghosts of their pasts, Jax and Charlie had a tough road to their happily ever after, but with a bond like theirs, they were guaranteed to find their way to love.
This debut novel was beautifully written, with all the elements I love in a good romance, along with a few shocking twists that gave it the emotional depth it deserved. If you’re looking for a heartfelt rockstar romance, look no further. You’ve found your next favorite read! Absolutely will read again, and can’t wait for the next book in the Heart Beats series!
Written in the Beat, Breanna Lynn's debut novel, hits all the right notes. Reading this book, was like listening to my favorite song - I just wanted it on repeat.
Charlie, having suffered a major life change, is just surviving. She is struggling to try and find her purpose again and welcomes a chance at some distraction thanks to her best friend, Meredith. This is where we are introduced to Jax, the musical artist bad boy, who is attempting to turn over a new leaf. Almost immediately, sparks fly and they seem like the perfect melody.
I was in such awe at how wonderfully these characters were written and how the story paced. Lynn is going to be an author to watch out for. When you see her name, you will need to add her to your TBR.
Overall I LOVED this book, loved the store, the characters, the plot. It is definitely a reread for me.
Charlotte AKA Charlie is very innocent and I really felt it in the first part of the book. I honestly can't remember if age was listed but I also felt she would be early 20s like 22/23(which is fine, just not sure my age assumption is correct). She definitely grows in the book, watching her character development was awesome. Overcoming a dancing injuring and the shit with her parents really helped mature her in the story.
Jackson AKA Jax is a pop star overcoming publicity issues from his last tour and his career hangs in the balance. Between basically being a puppet with his record label and figuring out how to handle a new relationship he struggles a lot. I'm not 100% sure I felt his change as strongly as I did Charlie's but it was definitely still there.
I highly recommend this books, it sucks you in but isn't dragged out nor is it too fast either. Great work!
Jax is a pop star trying to clean up his reputation after a while last tour. Charlie is a dancer, recovering from what could be career ending surgery. When Charlie catches up with her friend Meredith on her tour stop in Denver, she is instantly drawn to Jax. Meredith is a choreographer on Jax’s tour and a long time friend of his - sensing their chemistry, she encourages the match. But distance and the tabloids make it difficult to build a relationship. Can they learn to trust each other enough to make it last?
This is the first book in a series. I thought the character’s were engaging and it was well-written. I am excited for the next book, which is Meredith’s story.
✔️Rockstar ✔️insta love ✔️long distance relationship ✔️Accidental Pregnancy ✔️all the feels
This was an incredible debut novel! I immediately fell in love with the characters and the plot kept me intrigued wanting to know what happened next.
Jackson “Jax” Bryant is a rising star and from the moment his gaze lands on Charlotte he is smitten. I loved how tender and sweet Jackson was with Charlotte. You could feel their love and connection throughout the book as well as their pain. It was a bumpy road but the journey was one I so enjoyed reading! This is a sweet and swoony book with plenty of steam.
Breanna Lynn (great name chick!!) is a brand spanking new author (talk about a rockin' debut y'all!) and gahhhhhh, I really liked this romance in a whole lot of ways.
Written in the Beat is the first in the Hearts Beats series and what a beauty this book was. Jax and Charlotte were a breath of fresh air in this romance trope and the way that their journey unfolded, unforgettable in so many moments y'all. Steamy, sweet, angsty, full of heart, packed with the feels... yeah I was hooked from the very start of this one.
Definitely excited to see what this new author gives us next.
Jax and Charlie meet before one of his concerts thanks to a mutual friend. Charlie has no clue he's a pop star and is interested in him as his regular self, Jackson. They decide to try dating and I was surprised at how few reservations Charlie had at first. Jax is still on tour so they have to navigate ling distance and different lifestyles. Charlie seemed immature to me and ended things with Jax twice as soon a problem occured without even giving Jax a chance to explain.
This was a fast paced easy read. I didn't feel like I had to force myself to read this story at any point, which I appreciate. The stuttering/ paused words was overused though.
