No way in hell am I letting Telkar draft me into servitude!

Imagine this grown ass soldier begging his two nephews to behave.
Other enemies he could just easily decapitate.
But that’s not possible when your adversary is a thumb sucking toddler.
So Telkar’s solution? Find a human female and make her take care of them.

That human happens to be me.

Sure, I love children.
And okay, yes, this alien commander is something else entirely.
His ripped muscles and tight torso leave very little to the imagination as to what he looks like when he takes off his armor.

But no. You don’t just pluck me off the street. Even if you run the planet.
You certainly don’t say I’m your fated mate and it all gets better.
I am not going to serve him and his children with a smile.
We are not going to live happily ever after.
We are not soulmates.
And no way do we belong together.…

Then why I can’t stop thinking that we are?
It wasn't fate that made me just a maid to this alien warrior.
But also his…

Fated Mate.

Athena Storm is the pen name for two authors who fell in love with writing science fiction romance as they fell in love with each other.

She's the Athena. And he's the Storm. Athena hopes that one day it won't be a boyfriend/girlfriend writing duo, but a husband/wife team. But she's not pressuring at all. Not one bit.

Science fiction is the biggest love for the writing duo, and they've been doing the writing for quite some time now, building a universe that readers can get lost and explore in. Filled with big bad alien warriors, sassy human women who give as well as they get, hilarious situations, and enough steam to melt stars!

The duo have created the Athenaverse, where all books in all series are tied together. You can start anywhere but once you do, you'll want to explore them all!

When they get married, they plan to continue writing science fiction romance forever. But again, no pressure on the marrying part. Not at all. (Not like writing Happily Ever After ALL Day won't give you any ideas on its own, right?)

Destined for love

This series just keeps getting better! I loved the characters in this installment, but the thing that really moved me was the story. The orphaned twins, the maid meant for so much more, the captain of the guard fueled by love of family, and the queen who sees it all, have such huge parts to play in this tale of mystery, intrigue, betrayal, danger, and of course, love. The story had the perfect mix of action and emotion keeping me glued to my ereader. This writing duo seem to have a fantastic ability to make a story flow and I can’t wait to read whatever they bring us next.

This is a good sci-fi alien romance, but likable characters. It is my favorite of the series so far, because the H is more likable than the ones in the other books. It gets 3.5 stars from me, rounded up to 4 stars.

I thought it was more lust than love, especially for Veira. They just didn't know each other well enough to fall in love so quickly. I get that Telkar realized Veira was his fated mate when she touched him, but Veira was human -- so she wouldn't have felt the mate bond.

One complaint is that the story needed more character development. I wanted more backstory on both Telkar and Veira.

Telkar was likable, and was actually very good to Veira and his nephews. He was often a bit gruff, but that was because he just didn't really know how to interact with women and children. He had been the Captain of the Royal Guard for years, and knew how to command his subordinates, but knew little about other types of interaction. I liked that he tried really hard to make Veira and his nephews happy, even though he didn't really know how. He was sometimes quite violent, due to his work as a guard and his anger over his sister's murder -- but he was never violent to Viera or his nephews.

Veira was likable, and I liked that she was so good with Telkar's nephews. She seemed to instinctively know how to deal with children, even those from an alien race. I did think, though, that she was mostly in lust, not love, with Telkar for much of the book. I did believe she had fallen in love with him by the end, though.

This book can be read standalone, but it will make more sense if you have at least read the 1st book in this series, Nanny for the Alien King. The King/Queen from that book are in this one, and knowing their story is important.

My rating system is below.
1 star -- Hated it, or did not finish. I usually only give this rating if some of the content is truly objectionable to me, like if one of the main characters does something really awful, and gets away with it.
2 stars -- Didn't like it. This rating usually means that I thought the writing wasn't very good, the editing was terrible, I didn't like the characters, or it had other major flaws.
3 stars -- I liked it, but had some minor issues with it. This rating means that there were minor editing issues, the story needed more character development, it was just too unrealistic, or had some other fairly minor issue. The majority of books I read get this rating – I do not consider it a bad rating.
4 stars -- I liked it a lot. This is a high rating for me, and I rarely give a higher one.
5 stars -- I loved it, and will probably read it again. Very few books are good enough to get this rating from me. The ones that do are usually classics.

I enjoyed this! I think you will too!

Okay, this book was oodles better than the last. But we’re going to start with cons. Well, I have just one con to be honest. I’m fine with pretty much how everything in the book went I guess. But I’m just going to say a name.... just one name. Zorosta... I am so disappointed that piece was left unchecked. I’m just going to go out there and say it. Why was she left alone? Why wasn’t she mentioned? It’s details like this that drive me bonkers. I can look past the funny typos like Kravath proposed marriage to Veira etc. I get it, those kind of things happen but attention to storyline detail and tidying up loose ends is what separates a true satisfaction and just an okay ending for me. For me it’s all about the realism. Sure, maybe I’m being too strict and stern but that’s how I enjoy my books. I truly put myself in them and think how I would do things and how they should be done properly to secure a kingdom. After all the King has a new Queen who let’s face it is not universally loved and they have triplets. Leaving untrustworthy heathens in the castle just doesn’t sit well with me. Sighs. Love me or hate me, I’m just being honest and that’s how I roll in my reviews. That being said I truly loved Veira and Telkar’s story. I loved their romance and their union so very much. It was very rare to see two such as they 😏🤫🤭🤐. This book had so many sweet moments and I loved the twins very much. Sighs, reminds me of my own twin boys. This book also gave me such a heavy heart reading it because I would think of them often reading this book because they too had such differences in personalities yet they looked after each other and were both so very loving. Heh, I should stop before I cry. Anyways, magical babies. Those boys were awesome. I would take off .5 stars for Zorosta but there’s no half grading so I won’t ding a full star. To me that’s not fair. So to me this book gets its 5 stars. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I enjoyed this series and overall I’d give it a 4.5 based on the last books lower review. I think this series is TOTALLY worth it and I do not regret any of it. I hope more of this series is written. I will totally read it. Give this one a try, I think you’ll love it.

This is another fantastic book in the series and I love that the human women theses strong alien men meet are just servants to them at first until they touch skin on skin and then they know they are destined to be together but it only happens if they are mates. Veira is a servant at the palace and while doing her duties she is summoned by Captain Telkar to look after his nephews Elio and Adbiel that have come into his care because his sister Aralla died and not knowing how to stop them from crying he needs help fast enter Veira, once Telkar takes a look at the girl he realizes she is quite beautiful and wonders why he hadn’t noticed before now. Veira is surprised at the Captains Telkar request but goes straight to the children to find out what they need and they are hungry but when she turns to tell the Captain he has gone. When he returns the children are settled ready for bed and he knows he has found the help he needs in this human woman. Now her new duties are to look after the children Veira is happy and the more she gets to know Telkar she finds it hard to stay away from him and he is interested in her and when they touch he knows she is his mate but is now unsure how to move forward and with so many other things on his mind after finding out his sister was murdered as so was the father of the children. Can Telkar find the murder and avenge his sister and the father and give the children there birth right that was taken away from them and can and will Veira except him as her mate once she learns of the mating bond. Get this amazing book to find out.

Telkar is the Captain of the King's Guard. His whole life was turned upside down when his sister was murdered, leaving him the guardian to 2 year old twins. After hours of listening to them cry, he is desperate for help. He sees Veira, a servant cleaning the halls and comandeers her to look after his nephews. Luckily Veira is from a big family and has experience with toddlers. Veira helps them get settled in and the queen tells Telkar he has found the perfect nanny. With someone to look after his nephews, he is able to concentrate on avenging his sister's death. It is very hard for him to concentrate on the mystery because Veira keeps distracting him. Telkar is shocked when he realizes that Veira is his fated mate.

Veira is happy being a servant in the castle. Even though she has a tiny room it is better than what she had growing up. Being second out of ten kids gave her a lot of responsibilites. Now she just has her job and her art and she is content. Then one day a guard drags her into his apartment demanding that she care for his toddler twins. Veira really enjoys her time with the twins and she is very attracted to Telkar. She knows nothing will ever come from this since she is just a servant and he is the captain of the King's guard. She will do everything she can to make his life easier.

Escape to Kiphia 🌎

ADULT Alpha Alien 👽Male Sci-fi Romance💕 and Murder Mystery.💀🔪

I was a bit disappointed in this novel because the 🌎world building is almost non existent except in The very beginning. The Alien men are also barely described. They have tattoos and red skin and are tall.

I didn't read the first book in this series and although the author says I didn't need to, it was hard to figure out the world 🌎these Kiphians live on, And their place in it.

The book is mostly about Telkar🐺🍆⛲💪🔪, the aloof Captain of the King's Royal Guard. His sister is murdered by an intruder, leaving her twin two year old boys👦👦 for bachelor Telkar 🐺🍆⛲💪🔪to raise.

He spots Veira,💃💋 a human maid in the hall of the Palace guard's quarters, and snags her for a temporary nanny.👦👦, Which ends up turning into a full time mothering job which she loves. She falls in love 💘with the ruff and tuff Telkar🐺🍆⛲💪🔪, too.

This frees up Telkar 🐺🍆⛲💪🔪to start looking for his sister's murderer.

I was disappointed in the human like world 🌎 of the book and the human like way Telkar🐺🍆⛲💪🔪 interacted with the boys and Veira . It could have taken place anywhere on earth. I read sci-fi to escape into an alien 🌎world. This wasn't it.

The book was written in dual points of view, but also in first person, which I am not fond of.There is a happy ending 💘and no cliffhanger. Three and a half stars.

I received this book with the understanding that I could leave a voluntary and honest review.

In this book we meet Veira and Teklar. Veira may not be happy where she is now but she makes the most of everyday from cleaning the floors to doing the laundry and anything else asked of her. So when the captain of the royal guard asks her to come to his room she does. When she sees the two adorable little boys crying she can't help but want to comfort them. The problem she also has is she wants to comfort Teklar for some reason. When he asks her to watch the boys so he can go to work she readily agrees. When the queen makes her his new nanny for the boys she can't believe she has gotten so lucky. Is this the best to come though? Teklar is both angry and worried. Angry that he has lost his sister in such a brutal manor and worried because he isn't sure he is enough for his 2 nephews. When he sees Veira getting ready to scrub the floor he calls her in to help. With in just a few moment he knows the boys will be find with this human. What about him though why can't he stop thinking about her? Can these two find a HEA or will their stations in life be just to much to overcome?

Amazing Story by this author. These characters draw you in and won't let go. I would highly recommend it to anyone and everyone.

Telkar and Veira's Story . . .

Telkar Xalinir is Captain of the King's Royal Guard. When his sister is murdered by an intruder, her 2-year-old twin boys (Elio and Adbiel) are left in Telkar’s care. Knowing nothing about raising children, he grabs Veira, a palace maid, as the nanny for the children.

Telkar and Veira feel an attraction for each other, but a Kiphian is not permitted to be with a human in a relationship. With Veira caring for the boys, which truly makes her happy, Telkar can begin to look for the intruder who murdered his sister. And despite the “rules”, will Veira and Telkar end up falling in love? Would she be willing to be his mate (because if a fated mate activates the mating bond, as it did when Telkar touched her, it no longer matters if she is human)?

This was a good story line that entices the reader with forbidden love and a murder mystery. Veira happily takes over the job of being a mother to the boys. Will Telkar talk to her about becoming his mate? Will he find his sister’s murderer to get closure on that? Grab your copy and see how the story resolves for them.

Fate had his help just outside the door

I really enjoyed this book.

As a Kiphian warrior, Captain of the Royal Guard, Telkar fears very little. He prides himself on being deadly, strong....until his sister dies and her twin boys are sent to him. He just doesn't know what to do beyond "the fun Uncle" short interaction. So he opens his front door, sees a human woman scrubbing the floor, and drafts her into nanny service.

Veira is just trying to do her job. The recent changes (from previous books & lightly explained) makes being a human's, especially a human woman, somewhat difficult. She's scrubbing floors (that day) and next moment she's being told to take care of 2 year old twin boys. Well, 2nd of 10 children serves her well.

They'll fight fate and their feelings while dealing with political twists, murder, kidnapping and dealing with the limits of Telkar's protection reflexes. Enjoy the story

The next in this lovely series. This time is about another human servant Veira. She keeps to herself and completes her daily work. Her one friend is one of the cooks Orik. She is one day, pulled from her work by Telkar, the Kings Captain of the guard. She suddenly ends up helping with his twin nephews as their maid.
As the story unfolds, you learn more about him and his sisters boys. It is a sad tale and filled with emotion as the two come together, caring for the boys. There is much to their journey with threats to their lives. Thankfully, they are dealt with giving much satisfaction. There are little snippets of humour with the adorable twins and loved the references to colours, given Veira's love of painting. It was also great to Orik now worked with them. One can but hope there is a lady out there for him. :)
Also, just in case folks query my spelling, :) I'm English and thus some words will differ from the US versions.

👽 “My Veira, you’re everything.”
~~~
Telkar is strong, fearless and angry. He’s lost his sister and now he has to take care of her children. Luckily, fate stepped in to help.
Veira is sweet and quiet. Having grown up with many siblings she easily acclimates to being a nanny. I loved how she managed to handle the twins with such care. And I really liked her color references.
The development of their relationship was really great. They had very different personalities but caring for the twins brought them closer together and their undeniable chemistry blossomed into a true and passionate love.
Also, I really liked that we got to meet again some characters from the previous stories.
In addition, the twins were absolutely adorable. And there is a murder mystery to be solved.
Overall, the story is another great read filled with action, strong emotions, suspense, intrigue, danger and steamy romance.
I loved it!
This is the fourth book in the series and although it can be a standalone, you won't know the King and Queen's story and how it relates to this one if you haven't read their book. The main story of a Kiphian and a maid/servant forming a bond is the same but the circumstances and dangers vary from story to story. I've enjoyed all the previous books and I thoroughly enjoyed this one too. Veira is a maid in the palace and Tellkar is the Captain of the Royal Guard. When his sister is murdered, he gets custody of his two year old twin nephews. Veira is pulled into service as the children's nanny. I adored the boys. Their personalities were totally different but I loved them both. The story has plenty of edge of your seat danger, a few funny moments, some steamy ones and some that will make you feel good. It left me with a warm feeling and a smile on my face as any good HEA should.
This was an alien romance with suspense elements. The story was well laid out and fast paced. The characters were well developed.
Telkar Xalinir is the Captain of the Royal Guard. He has just lost his sister and taken custody of her two year old twin boys. He has no experience caring for children so he commands Veira to watch the boys.
Veira is a human servant in the palace and helped raise her ten siblings. They go to the marketplace to shop for necessities for the boys and she is nearly mugged but he saves her. Telkar is investigating his sister's murder and finds out the boys are of noble blood. Meanwhile he finds out Veira is his fated mate. They are almost killed before they can catch the nobleman responsible for his sister's death. They and the boys get their HEA.
Being in the right place at the right time had offered Veira an unexpected opportunity. Having not opened her heart to any man in fear of being hurt, Veira could not believe that Telkar was really interested in her, but the safety of the children was at stake and with a murderer scheming in the dark the emotions were intense. Telkar's spine had given him a sign, but his priority was to avenge his sister and with dark emotions upon him, he was not thinking well. I liked Veira's attitude that she was not intimidated by the intensity of the situation with Telkar, she appeased him and helped him put her thoughts in order. Action, suspense, intrigue, violence, a depraved villain, cute and funny children, romance and passion. I voluntarily reviewed this copy that I received free from Booksprout and liked it.
"If nothing else, a little life will come to these rooms, yes?”...
Telkar was content in his life as Captain of the Royal Guard... then his twin two year old nephews came to live with him, and suddenly everything took more effort, more... everything... and a wise leader knows when to call for reinforcements.
Veira was content with her life working in the palace... she was living in the basement of someone else's castle, but it was a step above where she had been. She never imagined she'd be drafted to take charge of a set of adorable two year olds.
This done in one Kindle Unlimited quick read has a fun sense of humor and tone, nice pacing, and just the right amount of whodunit as we resolve what happened to the twins parents that resulted in their Uncle gaining custody of them.
Human Viera is Captain Telkar's solution to looking after his two toddler nephews for who he is suddenly responsible - being Captain of the King's Guard certainly never prepared him for determined children. She immediately loves them and does her best to ignore the hot body that the alien captain has when he takes off his armour. But it seems that fate has an agenda and no matter how much they fight it, she is not just the maid as they are made for each other and are fated mates.
I enjoyed this story with the complicated politics, the snippets of happy family life, and the eventual conclusion. I loved the way that the children were as central to the story as they could be and that they were so determined to be big and tough. It was easy to read and understand. Contains some mature content.
Veira is a slave, who thanks to the human queen is now, like other humans, been made into a servant instead. She just wants to keep her head down and survive. Life is not great but it could be worse. Telkar is the captain of the king's guard, he has been informed of the death of his sister and had his nephews sent to him. Not something he had ever planned on. He needs to work but his nephews need someone to care for them while he does so. Veira is the first person he sees on that fateful morning as so she looks after the children and so becomes their nanny. A accidental touch of skin on skin between them tells Telkar that she is so much to him that just the nanny but will she see this and would he ever be able to claim her as his own?
I couldn't stop reading it! The storyline is compelling, and the characters are easy to connect with. The humans are servants, but not slaves in this one, but since I haven't read the books before this one, I don't know how that all came about....yet! There's a sad mystery, an intrigue, which leaves two little boys orphaned, but Viera, a servant, gets pulled in to care for them. Their uncle has them now since his sister has died, and he's clueless. The story gets deeper as he investigates his sister's death, while at the same time, a connection grows between him and Viera. The bad guys aren't done and of course, there are some mean girl human servants to stir up trouble too! I loved this story. I’ll be reading the rest of the series that came before this too!
A TRUE MATE WILL NEVER HARM
I received this book for free and am giving my honest and voluntary review.
Telkar has been made guardian of his twin two-year-old nephews. He’s head of the Royal Guard. He loves the boys but can’t fit them in his schedule. He grabs Veira, a human servant, while she is scrubbing floors and enlists her into caring for the boys. She’s good at it as she took care of her eight younger siblings when she was on Earth.
This story is full of anguish, self-doubt, a need for vengeance and cunning without impunity. A must read if you like mysterious science fiction with a dash of romance and kindness.
This could easily be just another sci fi Cinderella fairy tale, but it's not. Sure, you have Viera, the servant girl, that comes to the attention of the Captain of the Royal Guard when he becomes the guardian to he orphaned nephews and Teklar realizing that she's his fated mate. What makes this all the more interesting along with their sizzling romance is the hunt for his sister's killer and whether or not the danger to his family still exists. So, tons of action, adventure and danger and great romance along with great characters and great worldbuilding, what more could you ask for? Awesome!
A murder, a traitor, kidnappings, and true love, this book has it all.
The Captain of the Royal Guard has just had his twin nephews delivered to him, upon his sister's death. The toddlers are bereft of comfort, and in desperation the Captain searches outside his Palace apartment for a human woman to watch his new wards. The first woman he finds he orders back to his apartment and gives directions on the boys care. Date was on his side as she was perfect with the boys, and perfect for him. But his sister was murdered, her sons may be at risk, and his duty to find her killer comes first. It is not easy, but a happy ending is in the works after much agony.
Great story, however tragic editing reduced the rating
I have enjoyed this series a great deal, however the editing mistakes in the ebook were distracting and made it hard to read. The proposal even had the name of the married king instead of the male actually proposing. The heroine's name is spelled two different ways throughout the book as well, sometimes within the same paragraph. The editing mistakes seem to be more pronounced toward the end of the book. If the reader can get past the editing, it is a great story with adventure, sweet first love, and fated mates. Fixing the editing issues would greatly increase the rating and readability of the ebook version.
Babies miss their mom. Bu Uncle Captain Telkar is on the case.. But they trials and tribulations of babies need a special touch. Veira is a servant at the palace and while doing her duties she is summoned by Uncle Captain Telkar to look after his darlings. The were a few missing links but not enough to drive you utterly crazy. The twins are enough. I loved the adventure of how he is going to keep the Human female as his mate for him and the babies. Love the adventure
First & foremost the description in the book is wrong. It has different names & other details. If you want to know what the book is about you need to read it here on Goodreads, not in the book. This drove me nuts throughout reading cause I just kept thinking about it & wondering if maybe those people would show up? Or if it really just was the wrong description author forgot to change. Second issue I have is the editing, so many words missing, words misspelled, names being spelt differently, it was very distracting.
The author has pulled us into another time and place and that is exactly where we want to be. When human servant, Veira, is tasked with caring for the orphaned nephews of Telkar, they feel a connection but a Kiphian is not allowed to have a relationship with a human. The story keeps you turning the pages with love, fear, danger and action.
This story is an action-packed sci-fi thriller and a steamy romance all rolled into one! Veira goes from maid to nanny to Duchess Regent in the blink of an eye, and Telkar goes from confirmed bachelor to father figure to Regent. The suspense and action in this book is fantastic and gripping. The boys are charming - far more so than two-year olds often are *wink*. I’m really enjoying this softer side of the Athenaverse and the tales coming out of Kiphia.
Fated Maid is book four in the series Intergalactic Fated Mates by authors Athena Storm & Tara Starr. This one has a mystery hook- there’s just enough drama and action to keep you hooked. If that wasn’t
there’s the matters of the heart that will captivate the imagination.
Enjoy!!
