I was provided a copy of this book by my local bookstore in order to give them my opinion on it.

Light of Evanora was a mixed bag for me. There is a lot of potential here that never quite hits the way I wanted. Yet, I was still caught up in the plot and wanted to find out where things were going.

Limoria, as a world, has some cool aspects. The idea of a forest that quickly regrows itself (preventing the inhabitants of the world from changing it) is neat. The bits of magic that are introduced are fun, especially the way Xylia can wield weapons with it. The couple of creatures mentioned, amalgams of familiar species, are also intriguing, though their names come off as a little too much (my brain was getting stuck on the words instead of being immersed in the battle against the creature). I never felt like I had a clear grasp of the scope of the world being presented. There is a map in the beginning and an index at the end, but as the characters traveled from place to place, I never got a solid impression of the distance and differences of each. It is a good start to the world building, but as a reader thrown into a whole new place, I wanted things fleshed out more.

From a character perspective, Xylia is three dimensional, she carries a depth that makes the reader understand her and most of her motivations. I struggled with the ease in which she trusted or fell for other people in the story though. Being that she lived a life where she had to hide a lot of who she was from others, I felt like she would be more guarded and untrusting. Some of the secondary characters felt more like caricatures or plot devices. Also, why are all these characters grabbing each other's shoulders and touching each other's faces so much? It was weird to me, like a bunch of kids that have yet to learn about personal space and boundaries. It was things like this that kept disconnecting me with the story and world.

As far as the story goes, it was refreshing to have what typically would be the third act wrap up in the second and set things in a unexpected direction for the rest of the book. The ending left things in a place that absolutely makes me want to see what will happen next. That being said, the larger events within the novel felt like they often got shortchanged in place of repetitive character interactions. There were also many spots during character communication where one of the characters comes to a realization but I did not feel like I understood what that realization was. Normally I like when things rely on subtext instead of spelling things out for the reader. In these cases, I just could not follow the character's train of thought. It was frustrating.

In the end, I feel like many of my holdups are salvageable in subsequent releases. As mentioned, the ending left me in a place where I want to continue reading. As a debut novel and the start of a series, there is potential here.

Light of Evanora is a high fantasy novel almost anyone can read. As someone who doesn't read a lot of fantasy, I was drawn into the characters instantly. Some fantasy novels lose my interest for either not world-building enough or world-building too much that I have trouble picturing everything. Light of Evanora has a healthy balance of both.

From love, heartbreak, devastation, and strength, this novel has it all. I was captivated by the main character, Xylia's, strength as well as her vulnerability. I was able to relate as well as be motivated and inspired by the characters. I can't wait to read the other books in the series to see how T R Nickel develops new characters and further develops the world.

I highly recommend this book!

This is an another level fantasy read. You’ll enter in a different world, a Realm of Limoria. A beautiful and worth exploring place.

The story revolves around a female named Xylia who was fighting against herself. With the coming of her mentee, her supporting partner, things and situations started to change. Who’s that person ? How did he help her to find herself in a better world ?

This is an interesting story, a full suspicious novel. It’s a little lengthy though but I’m sure you’ll enjoy reading it. The characterisation is beautiful. The story is captivating with an astonishing title. The language used by the author is simple and easy to understand. This book is recommended to the readers above 16 years of age.

Go and order your copy now ! Looking forward to see Xylia as more powerful characters in the sequel.

This book is a wild ride. A little Mistborn and something entirely its own. I really appreciate the LGBTQ+ rep in this as well as the friendships.

I really enjoyed this 1st book in a series. the world it takes place in is interesting and makes me want to learn more about it. the story itself i good. it had twists and turn that I didnt guess and had me wanting to keep coming back to it after I set it down just to find out what happens next.

this next part will have a spoiler:

It's the middle of the book that she kills the king completing her main objective up to that point. so you know that there's more thats going to happen but I wish there was a little more build up to the moment she kills the king. it feels like it happens all very quickly and then its kind of like "ok that happened, moving on." For a moment that is suppose to be so big and important I feel like the protagonist would have dwelled on the moment more and what it actually meant. I know as the reader that its only the middle of the book but Xylia doesnt. it didnt feel like she really regarded the moment as her objective is completed and maybe she should of reflected on it more and the importance of it?

I really liked the end of the book. the whole reveal about Rose and the Domi Nostrae. she finds out her parents are alive and it all finishes with a cliff hanger that makes me want to pick the next book immediately. overall I liked the book a lot.

If you like fantasy, or want to get into fantasy, then this is a great book to pick up, highly recommended read.
This story takes you on a magical, suspenseful, incredible journey. The characters are brought to life and you feel like your apart of the journey with the characters and their emotions, reactions and everything else they experience.

Once you start reading, you wouldn't want to put it down until there is nothing left to read. You are satisfied on all aspects with this book and will read it more than once, like I have.

This is the first book in the Legends of Limoria series, and it seems to be a series of standalone books within the same realm. A reader often expects a hero to have a tragic past, and in this case, the character's worst day happens at the start of the book. From that point every moment is a coin flip between fight or flight, refuge or trap, and ally or betrayer. We're given just enough magic and history of the world to get the messages across, yet yearn for a taste of more. It is an exciting read and it does make the reader curious for more secrets from this world.

I bought this book from a local book shop, and I was pleasantly surprised! It kept me on the edge of my seat, and I loved reading every word of it. It was not at all what I was expecting, and is by far one of my favorite books I’ve read so far!
