Pisikestel putukatel, maailma kõige liigirikkam loomarühmal, on eluslooduse toimimises hiigelsuur roll. Kaunite kollaažtehnikas illustratsioonidega raamatu abil saavad koolilapsed nende põnevate olenditega lähemalt tuttavaks. Milline on putukate keha? Kus ja kuidas nad elavad? Kuidas saab ussi moodi röövikust imeilusate tiibadega liblikas? Kuidas on putukad kasulikud inimestele ja millega me neid ohustame? Milliseid selgrootuid loomi on veel olemas?
Fun and informative book of natural science. Good for everyone who need to know a bit about the most population creature of this world. Anyway I strongly believe kids will love this book so much.
Check out this engaging and beautifully illustrated introduction to the world of insects and other invertebrates.
Divided into thematic sections, it explores bug anatomy, behavior, habitats, and environmental importance. From pollinating bees and glowing fireflies to burrowing worms and deep-sea crustaceans, this book provides a captivating and well-organized look at the hidden heroes of the natural world. With clear explanations and amazing illustrations, it highlights the importance of insects in the ecosystem.
I love the balance of scientific accuracy with child-friendly language. The mix of photographs and illustrations makes every page interesting and informative, helping children grasp complex concepts through art and real-world examples. It fits well into elementary science curricula and is especially valuable for classroom use. Featuring topics like life cycles, ecosystems, and conservation. Each page sparks curiosity, making it ideal for independent reading or group discussion.
Read it with the third graders, afterwards we all created our own “bug hotels” to put in our yards and around the school yard. It’s more than just a bug book; it’s a gateway to environmental awareness and scientific inquiry. Definitely a must-have for the classroom, teachers will love this one!
This book shows kids there’s lots to love about creepy-crawlies. I like this book so much, I bought both hard copy and Kindle editions so I'd have it with me wherever my littles and I find bugs to explore. The book is jam-packed with irresistible information and beautiful illustrations that add another wonderful learning layer. Early on, the book invites readers to turn the pages to ‘discover just how important creepy-crawlies are.’ That’s exactly what the book delivers. I especially like the ‘bug behavior’ and ‘bugs and me’ sections because they invite kids (and adults!) to relate to their own bug encounters and to take action to help the planet by helping bugs. This beautiful book is a winner in so many ways. I highly recommend it for home bookshelves—keep it handy for when bugs surface, indoors and out!
I read this with my kid who loves bugs. I think it has a lot of great info and lovely illustrations. Overall a solid informational book for kids. The drawbacks: if you have kids with any learning disabilities or dyslexia, the font is a struggle to read (multiple types of fonts, dark small font on dark colored pages as the page itself is a full illustration). Additionally, the recommended age groups were grades 2-4. For younger kids, some may struggle with larger words (some of them are explained like the word “exoskeleton”, but some aren’t and I wish they added explanations for all).
Almost encyclopedic, as DK's books often are. Not just photos on white, though, as the Eyewitness books, but attractive pix showing salient features & context. I only skimmed, but still learned a lot. Especially helpful is the spread of the 'family tree' on pp 10-11. Index, glossary, but no bibliography or activities.
I read this book with my son (he’s on this big obsession with bugs at the moment, especially mosquitos for some unknown reason). It has some great illustrations and pictures and a lot of fun facts. I even learned some new things.
I read this with my 7yo as part of science class (we’re homeschoolers) and we both loved it! We are looking forward to catching and examining bugs and building a bug hotel in our yard. Such a fun and educational book!
This book is beautifully illustrated. Very informative about ALL types of bugs but definitely for upper elementary or Jh. Littles would love the picture but the vocab is too high for them to read independently
There are gorgeous illustrations and graphics all over this book. It´s also incredibly tender to every bug, as we all should be. I loved the idea of the Bug Hotel??? It´s now on my bucket list, thank you very much.
