Even the best bounty hunter in the galaxy can be surprised by the unexpected.

Attacked and left for dead in the blackness of space, bounty hunter Kole Anwynn races to pursue the ship that came out of nowhere. There are many in the galaxy who would want him dead, but his wounded pride won't let him forgive the attempt.

When the trail leads him to a backwater planet on the galactic Rim, he goes in search of a local guide. The young taxi driver, with her pink dreadlocks and equally vibrant personality, uses her knowledge of the underworld to assist his hunt for the unknown assassin. From a small-time crime boss to a web of intrigue that spreads across dozens of systems, they have their work cut out for them. Treachery and betrayal await Kole, along with a choice that he never thought to face.

Will the end of his hunt be more unexpected than the beginning?

A love story

Well, it's really a lot more than that but in the end it does kind of boil down to one. It's an intriguing story with some really good action and some great characters. The whole concept of someone living in space really works. As a loner Kole does everything his way but you never know when things can change. Sometimes you find friends in places you hadn't expected to. I enjoyed the storyline and would like to see where their adventures take them in the future.

It was great until..

Who doesn't love an unsuspecting father tale? But, then it turned into a would-be romance between a guy who is both old enough to think of Neela as a kid AND to need rej7v treatments not to ache.

So what she turns out to be a 22 year old who only acts like a naive 16 year old, it's still a huge power imbalance for a relationship and creepy AF.

Without that, I'd have given the book 5 stars, easily. But.. ugh.

Bounty hunters with souped-up spaceships and smart computers are a space opera staple, but indie writer Tim Rangnow does a good job with this instantiation. Bounty hunter Kole Anwynn is on the chase when he runs into Neela, a streetwise taxi driver who looks 16 but isn’t. Romance and action ensue as they team up to chase an assassin. The apparent age gap between the couple may make some readers go “eew,” but Neela is more mature than she looks, and Kole is in good shape for his age. Imagine a movie starring a forty-something Harrison Ford with the ingenue of your choice. One thing made me shake my head: would a master criminal actually hire a high-priced assassin to kill a bounty hunter? Maybe. But Rangnow doesn’t establish its plausibility early enough.

Amazing

Hiring an assassin to kill the best bounty hunter in the known universe has got to be a bad idea, but someone has, and now he's looking for them. Brilliant storyline believable characters come alive on the page with plots within plots guaranteed to keep you turning pages you won't be able to put this book down, with twists and turns you won't see coming this is a must-read, highly recommend, I don't often give five stars but this deserves them in fact if I could give more than five stars I would, its that good, Baz

A good book! This is a good introduction to a series that seems a good combination of crime/mystery and science fiction. Kole and Neela are great characters; the action is fast and furious; the plot moves fast. All-in-all, a fun and enjoyable read.
I won a copy of this book in a Goodreads giveaway for this honest review.

A Good Start

Decent writing with relatively few errors, good character development and a storyline that carries the reader forward. Some of the descriptions of conflicts are gruesome and bloody, but the protagonists survive. This book ends on a positive note, and leads into the next installment.

Well done story. It's a story of betrayal, intrigue, innocence, politics and so much more. If you like bounty hunter stories, you'll likely enjoy this offering. If you're a scifi fan, then you're equally likely to want this one on your read shelf.
I liked this one, and wouldn't mind reading more in the series.

I was surprised by how entertaining this book was.

I have been reading science fiction books for many years. I'm surprised I have not heard of this book or the author before. Thankfully, I was lucky enough to take a chance and was rewarded with a great adventure. I would recommend this to anyone that I know.

The bounty hunter finds a friend

Kole a bounty hunter is attacked by an assassin and chases them back to a rim world. In searching for the assassin he meets Neela a taxi driver, who helps him and becomes entangled in his search. I don’t want to give too much away but this is part of a series!

Thoroughly enjoyed this first book in the series. Occasionally over described/explained bits of plot but otherwise interesting and engaging. Will definitely read the next book in the series.
