STORY:
I need a moment of silence for how this story starts. Because I don’t think my eyes could have gotten any wider with chapter 1 and that bedroom scene. Now, I have read maybe 3 books from this author, and she gives equal parts sex and story line.
With saying that, the storyline saw Franny, a Senator dealing with a sketchy ex husband. We also have Vader aka Austin dealing with his past that still plagues him. Franny, I HAVE NO IDEA WHY, she decided to pick up a hitchhiker, Vader, while alone in the rain. I admit, her choices were so odd in the first chapter, but it read so good. Vader comes off Stoic and quite-ish and Franny was no push over, and I like seeing the way their relationship progress.
CHEMISTRY:
Y’all, I have a sexual rating in my profile and the rating above doesn’t even exist for me. The first DAMN was just for chapter 1. Now, this is BDSM adjacent, meaning it is not really BDSM as it only includes spanking and a very controlling and dominant man in the bedroom. It’s like Franny was getting man handle in a good reading way that was a turn on to see. They weren’t a one hit wonder because whenever these two get together; it was on another level. I personally liked it and can only speak for myself of course.
SECONDARY CHARACTERS:
I did not read the previous books in the series and most definitely want to. I did not feel lost as I would say it can be read as a stand alone. It just makes you curious on the other brothers’ stories. We got to meet Austin’s brother in arms: Hawk, Mustang, Scorpion and Reaper. Franny’s friend, Katie, liked her.
Overall, may be your cup of tea, may not be. However, for me personally, I got a storyline and some good sexual chemistry. This is definitely not a sweet romance but wouldn’t say it is hardcore dark, but would still throw in the dark pile. I enjoyed it.

Such a great read. Franny stops on a lone road and gives Austin a ride and they end up spending the night together. When Franny is in danger, Austin will do whatever it takes to keep her safe. A story filled with great characters, pain, twists, suspense, danger, acceptance, and sizzling chemistry. A fantastic addition to this series and one I highly recommend.

Wow talk about a fast paced intense, captivating suspense filled, emotional hot steamy read. Francesca "Franny" is one tough woman who has been through hell because of her ex-husband. She does something completely out of character she picks up a hitch hiker on a rainy foggy night on a dark road. He calls himself Vader ( real name Austin) who is a big beautiful chiseled tattooed ex-marine. Immediately you can feel the pull between them until you can cut it with a knife. You can feel the pain coming off him from past trauma, guilt, and self loathing for failing his friends. Each are broken in their own way neither feel they are worthy of happiness or love. I loved how they knew what each other needed without asking. They calmed each other, healed and loved each other. The storyline was so good with twists, turns, suspense, danger, hot and heavy steamy sex scenes and fantastic friends. The ending was the icing on the cake.💋

Franny stops to offer Austin, a hitchhiker a ride and they end up at a hotel sharing a wild night together. When Franny ends up in danger, Austin is there to keep her safe. Fast-paced read with plenty of twists and turns and lots of steam. I liked it.

Piper Stone has written a 5-star book. This is the story of Francesca (Franny) and Vader (Austin). Franny picks up Vader on her way back to her hometown of Missoula when she sees a man walking on the side of the road. She stops and waits for him to come up to her truck. When he gets there, she asks "Where ya headed?" " Missoula." She tells him to jump in because that is where she is going. There is an attraction between them. When Vader sees a sign for a motel, he tells her to pull in. She doesn't know why she does it but she pulls in. She asks "What you are going to do?" He tells her anything he wants. He goes in and gets a room, when he comes back, he tells her to pull around the back. Once they get into the room, he tells her that it won't be about romance. She tells him that she is not looking for romance, she just wants sex. He tells her that she is going to do everything he tells her to do. She agrees. Vader is not easy on her and he takes what he wants. Sometime during the night, Vader wakes up and smells smoke. He thinks he is reliving a dream but when he checks outside the door, he sees the motel is on fire. He goes to wake up Franny and tells her they have to leave right then. He gets her out but then he has to go back and get the keys and her things. He is burnt when he goes back into the room. When they get on the road again, Franny asks him if he had a place to go. He tells her "Yes." She drops him off at Hawk's place. He is not sure on how Hawk will react to seeing him. Someone is after Franny and she is getting threats. After the fire at the motel, she doesn't think it was an accident like the sheriff said. She has Vader's t-shirt and she has no plans of seeing him again so she takes the shirt back to him. things don't go well for her when she sees him again. He spanks her in front of Hawk and his employees. For some reason, they can't stay away from each other. He is there to help and protect her.
Can Franny and Vader find out who is after her and stop them?
Can Vader let go of his past and move forward with Franny?
This was a wonderful book and I would recommend it to anyone.

Action packed
Francesca Montgomery Was just driving down a lonely lane when she sees a man walking beside the road. She has no reason why but she stops to give him a lift. The chemistry between them is instant. It is explosive and he ends up getting her to pull up to a Motel where they share an passion filled night. He is so dominant and he puts her in a submissive state even though she tries to fight it. But he knows exactly What she needs. But he is woken by the Motel being on fire. He quickly gets her out but needs to go back in as she insists she needs her bag. He doesn’t understand why but she wants to get out of there big-time. He gets her to drop him off at his friends ranch and plans never to see her again.
Vader/Austin has finally came home after a failed mission where one of his men didn’t make it. And it's eating him alive. He blames him self! When he finds that he’s good friend has settled down and plans to get married, he slightly taken back. What he can’t explain is why he can’t get that woman Franny off his mind.
What Franny was hiding was that she was a Senator and she didn’t need to press finding out that she stopped to pick up a hitchhiker for a crazy night in a motel. She also didn’t need her abusive ex-husband finding out either because he was making her life a living hell. But can these two Stay away from each other?? Was the fire deliberate?? Can Vader ever stop blaming himself for what happened on their mission?? Could Vader finally be the man he was born to be and would Frannie except Austin as her man??
Dear me this is explosive from the very beginning!!! It is so fast pace that you just don’t know what’s going to happen next. I really liked the interactions between Austin and Franny. I wasn't sure at first, I thought he was a bit full on but as you read on you know it’s exactly what she needs. They are just perfect for each other but there’s so much going on!!!! It is just a brilliant Read. I honestly couldn’t put it down. Another fantastic read by Piper Stone And another fantastic book in the series of the Montana bad boys.

I knew going into this story that it involved spanking, most of the times it’s usually easy enough to just flip past it and enjoy the rest of the story. ( I have no problems with spankings, for me it has to add something to the story other than the female just getting slapped repeatedly by the guy.)
This was a very heavy-handed story to say the least. When Francesca and Austin first meet we get him spanking her for no rhyme or reason other than he wanted too…then we get copious amounts of horizontal time. I do prefer my leads to at least have a few pages go by before hitting the sheets, but hey I rolled with it hoping that the story would get better as it went along.
Unfortunately for me the story didn’t improve as much as I would have liked. We got a lot of cliché small town sheriff stuff thrown in, a sleazy ex, a very weird and a bit convoluted attempt on Francesca’s life and a bunch of other things that made the story seem to drag on.
This to me felt like it was a case of too many things thrown into the story and it made the delivery a bit clunky then add in the repeated spankings and I just wasn’t able to connect with the characters the way I would have liked. I suppose the men at the ranch cheering when Austin started spanking Francesca when she came to drop off his shirt didn’t help endear me to Austin.
So while a lot of the story didn’t appeal to me I left the rating as a three star review. After slogging through the repetitive spankings we got to learn that Austin was suffering from a major case of guilt and PTSD about an incident he was a part of while in the military. We also got to enjoy the relationships that Francesca had with her female friends and Austin with his military buddies, which provided a nice counterbalance to the repetitive aspect of the story.

Oh. My.Word! I Could Not Put This Book Down!! I truly wished I could give more than the five stars we are allowed. This deserves many more stars!
Austin and Franny’s story is book five of the Montana Bad Boys Series. Austin/Vader is the fifth Marine from the original Bad Boy group of six to make it home to Missoula after his time in the military. He brings with him one duffle bag of personal belongings and a boat load of demons and bucket full of guilt that he can’t seem to make peace with. While hitchhiking into town he’s picked up and given a ride by the beautiful United States Senator Francesca/Franny Montgomery and they pretty much from that time on are unbeatable, unmatched, plus the two together are unstoppable in finding answers to threats against Franny’s life and random fires in the area that don’t seem to have answers for. Vader sees that his “brothers” have found some semblance of peace with their past and each have found love while he is still struggling with the past. Francesca has her own hidden past demons namely sick and abusive Ex husband that she is trying to deal with and come to terms with. This story is full of pain, anger, danger, guilt, attempted murder, abuse, discipline, comradeship, hope, love and acceptance. The chemistry between Vader and Franny was immediate and off the charts and just grew from there. “Oh yay”! Each story in this series just gets better and better, one of my all time favorite authors. I am really looking forward to a Book Six ?? This is an absolute must read series it definitely is a keeper for my library. I don’t think you would be disappointed. Sweet and spicy. with a big helping of mystery, Austin is the story of a band of brothers who served together in the marines, and lived by the code of leaving no man behind. They are haunted by the reality that one of their own was lost and the pain runs deep. Austin "Vader" Bridges is hitchhiking his way back to Missoula, MT and Francesca "Franny" Montgomery is on the same road and, for some reason, picks him up. They spend the night in a motel having combustible sex, until the hotel goes up in flames. She is a US senator, for heaven's sake, and you would think that this is out of character, but you would be wrong. They agree that this was only one night and they part ways with no intention of seeing each other again, but fate has a way of stepping in and changing those intentions. When they run into each other in Missoula, all bets are off and they pick up where they left off. It appears that the fire at the motel was not only suspicious, but one of a string of unexplained fires. Someone is behind the arson and Franny and Austin won't stop doing their own investigation until they find the criminal. This is an edge of your seat kind of book. It has twists and turns with plenty of intrigue. It's a wonderful story and the characters are believable and multi-faceted. With swoon-worthy moments that will give you "the feels," you'll thoroughly enjoy this well-paced and well-written romance. This was a 5* review for me until that amazing ending made it 6*! Thomas Locklear is an exceptional narrator who brings this story to life. His dynamic voice gives each character a unique personality.

Austin is book 5 in the Montana Bad Boys series by Piper Stone. The story and love affair between Franny and Austin (Vader) is intense. The story is hot and heavy and won't be for everyone. Their hot and heavy romance is a little outside of what could be traditionally the norm. Austin/Vader is a strong but troubled man. He and the other Montana Boys all share a tragedy in their past that has shaped them into who they are. The other guys have met their match and these women being them a sort of peace in tbe previous books in the series. When Vader meets Franny the chemistry is off the charts.
Francesca Montgomery is a senator and picking up a hitchhiker on a rainy, rainy night is very out of character for her. She is a strong believer in fighting for what is right. I just had a little trouble with how fast she was willing to spend the night with a stranger. I guess as much as she is able to see the good in Vader, he sees Franny's wild streak.
This story is more than just romance. There is an arsonist torching buildings, blackmail, threats and attempted murder. It grabbed me from page one and held me until the happily ever after. Austin is a satisfying wrap to the Montana Bad Boys series.

Austin/Vader is a ex Navy Marine who is coming back home to Missoula after a missions that went wrong which he carries a lot of guilt about. He is definitely a big, built and sex-on-a-stick Alpha bad boy who dominates. When Franny stops and gives him a ride he immediately feels an explosion of sexual attraction. So when there is a motel along the road he tells her to pull over and they get a room and share an amazingly hot and heavy night......lots of between the sheet action. There is a lot more to this story as both are hiding something. Will they be able to go their separate ways or will there be a pull back to each other?
This story has a high heat content, so get a cold glass of something to drink before you sit down to read Austin. The story-line has action, suspense, romance and a lot of sizzling hot passion. If you have read Piper Stone before then you know there will be a lot of spanking and also a D/s relationship, even if the woman fights it she soon bends in a lot of ways.

HOT, HOT, HOT!!! OMG, I have to say this was my favorite book from the series. I am still fanning myself after reading this story. This is the story of Vader and Franny. Vader (Austin) is part of the Montana Bad Boys who fought alongside with Hawk, Scorpion, Mustang, Nash and Reaper. Vader, like the others is dark, damaged, rough, dominant, quiet and hot. Her has his own demons that he is struggling with and is mad at the world. He doesn’t believe he deserves any happiness at all. Franny is a Senator, who doesn’t take any crap from anybody. She is strong, independent, feisty and doesn’t back down. She has a sleazy, ex-husband who is trying to do anything to discredit her.
The moment that Vader and Franny meet, there is such a hot, intense, attraction between the two that I think my Kindle might have melted just a little. Vader was the member of the group everyone thought had died because none of the Montana Bad Boys could find him.
The beginning of this book was not only intense, it was crazy.? Her first appearance in the book had me wondering, "WTH was wrong with her?" Talk about asking for trouble. I did end up liking Franny because she never backed down from a fight.
She and Vader (Austin) found something that neither one was looking for, nor wanted. I thought their connection was interesting. Just the fact that two very different people found a measure of peace in being with each other.
The thing that got to me was that this story seemed to go off in so many different tangents. I don't want to list them because that would be giving part of the story away.
I was glad that Austin and Franny got their HEA like the rest of the guys. I was going for a 3.5 until I got to the end. Totally unexpected and surprising!
There was a mystery, some action, suspense, danger, a few twists and turns, some romance, steamy scenes, and of course spankings. It wouldn't be a Montana Bad Boys book without those.

Wow, what an awesome story. Each of the men in this group has eventually come home consumed with their grief and demons from losing their best friend Snake. Vader/Austin was the last of the Bad Boys to come back home to Missoula. His buddies all thought he was dead. After leaving the military Vader became a lone Wolf and didn’t contact any of his friends. Now hitchhiking his ways to Missoula on a rainy night and a lonely road, a car stops to give him a ride. The driver is a beautiful woman and the electricity in the car is volatile. Franny Montgomery and Austin have a passionate night together, only to be awoken by smoke indicating the motel is on fire. Austin is a very dominant alpha male and a true beast in the bedroom. Leaving the motel and fire behind, because Franny couldn’t risk anyone knowing she was there, she takes him to Hawks ranch. Vader doesn’t expect to see her again, but he can’t stop thinking of her. Then he finds out, she’s a US Senator. A great storyline with plenty of steam, angst, danger, suspense, attempted murder, and unexpected surprise at the end. The characters are incredible and draw you in from beginning to end. Loved this whole series!

“Austin” is the fifth of the Montana Bad Boys series from Piper Stone. They are all described as ‘Rough Romance’ books, and each one certainly fits that description. Austin, who is nicknamed Vader, is as much of an intensely dominant alpha male as you could imagine. The chemistry that instantly sizzles between him and Franny is off the charts. Franny is a highly capable and successful woman whose uncharacteristic reaction to Vader simultaneously thrills and baffles her.
If you’ve read any of the other books in this series, then you’re already aware of the singular dramatic event that shaped the life of each leading man. If not, I’m certainly not going to spoil that discovery for you. I will tell you however that there’s a substantial amount of intrigue and drama woven into this story. There’s a lot of very rough passionate activity¸ but as feelings start to grow and cannot be ignored, there is also some serious, unexpected emotion. The ending really took me by surprise, which is also a fun thing.

Trouble with a capital T!
Piper sure knows how to write about perfect, dominating men and how to make her books totally addictive. I'm still reading this at 4am as I can't make myself put it down!
Book 5 in the Montana Bad Boys series is another scorcher. I love how Vader does what he wants, takes what he wants, with no pretensions of being a 'nice' guy. He is overwhelmingly male in every way and Franie is instantly in lust, as you would be. This had my screen threatening to melt.

This is book 5 in the Mountana Bad Boys series, and let me tell you that
Austin was the epitome of one hell of a bad boy. Each book followed a
similar theme of emotionally damaged Marines consumed with guilt
and the woman who drag them kicking and shouting back into the land
of the living.
I just loved Austin and Franny’s story. She made him feel alive again. He
took what he wanted, and he wanted her despite all the obstacles thrown
in their way. Austin was one bitter, angry man with a chip on his shoulders.
He was unable to let go of the past until the night he met Franny. She also
had her battles to fight with danger ever-present, but who was the target.
Fireworks exploded whenever these two were together. The sex scenes were
hot, erotic, and graphics. The punishments were well deserved, but a bit harsh
at times. Austin made me drool with his take control attitude. Franny was to
be admired for her courage and determination.I won't spoil the surprise ending, but it caught me off guard. Expect the unexpected.

I loved this read, riveting and great plot
She had made a mistake she would have to live with the day she had given the hitchhiker a ride, Austin had been a former marine and it was obvious he was on a specific journey but had not expected to have been taking me as well.
Francesca had pulled up and offered him a ride and he could not help but be totally want her and when he finally had her it had been like a drug, his name on her lips in ecstasy had been better than any drug and it had definitely changed him.
Then he had discovered that someone was in fact trying to hurt his girl and he was not going to simply stand by, he would do whatever it takes to keep her safe.

Franny picks up Austin on the side of the road on a stormy night. When the hotel they spend the night at burns down, nearly killing them both, he finds himself protective of her, even though neither one of them is looking for more than one thrilling night. They cannot seem to stay away from each other. The longer they are together, the more danger she is in. Nobody but Austin can keep her safe with a killer on the loose.
This series ender is brilliant. The overarching story lines tie up beautifully, and all five of the men get what they deserve, and have their HEA's in hand. While each book, Austin included, can be read as a stand alone, the series is best enjoyed as a whole. One-click this now, and enjoy!

A single Senator driving her own car along a lonely highway...A ex-military man with a haunting past. This is the start to Austin: A Rough Romance. I did like both Frannie and Austin as characters. I really enjoyed reading all about his military experience and his buddies. I think the Author did a great job there, seemed very believable. I did think a few things could have been better, i.e. the Senator's home setting just didn't seem believable to me. Warning, this does have erotic sex, and spankings with a belt. All in all, a good read. Really hot sex scenes. I look forward to reading more books by this Author. I received an advance free copy of this book for my review, but all thoughts are my own.

The beginning of this book reminded me of Heart’s song “All I Wanna do is Make Love to You” except Vader and Francesca exchange names and then the story really begins. This book has everything from mystery, arson, threats and murder and above all resolution, love and a wonderful happy ending. Piper Stone’s heroines are all strong successful women and in this series they fall for strong dominant men that are happy to submit to sexually knowing there is a loving, caring person underneath all the gruffness, plus the sex is amazing. The ending is one you might have guessed but it doesn’t make it any less special and is really heartwarming. This was a great story, but it is sad that this series has ended unless...?

Piper Stone did it again! It started hot and heavy and continued the entire time. Words cannot express the emotions that went through me towards the end of the book. It was jam-packed full of eroticism, mystery, death, twists, and turns. Did I mention very hot erotic sections?
The Montana Bad Boys have been through hell, and the women they found brought them back by helping fight the demons.
Autin comes back to town to realize the investigation into the 5 of them has been reopened. Franny is a Senator that wants to help get to the bottom of the fires in town along with the investigation into Austin. She does things that are on the edge of danger, and Austin will gladly issue an intense discipline session. Talk about HOT!

This is the fifth book of the series. Vader is on his way home. Along the way he is picked up by Franny. Franny is a US senator and she has never done anything like she will tonite. She wants Vader and she will take him any way she can get! Vader is a dominant man who is haunted by what happened to his team mate, Snake. Franny is being threatened by someone. She's not sure why, but she isn't going to let it stop her. The two of them are meant for one another and they eventually have their HEA.
I'm hoping that there will be one more! I need to find out what happened to the last of them. I also want to know what is going on with Missoula!. I recommend that you read the series in order.

Franny, a senator, and Austin (Vader) meet when she picks him up as a hitchhiker during a rainstorm. The motel they stay in burns down and she has staff looking into buildings being burnt in the area, trying to find a connection. One thing leads to another and Franny and Vader cross paths again. This time she works more on the military groups behalf, trying to get the facts correct. So much action that actually leads to a great conclusion for the team. The characters and storyline were terrific. Some wild twists and surprises right up to the end, keep the tension level high. Great ending with a reunion and a wedding.

I thoroughly enjoyed this wild ride. Watching Austin work through his trauma, accept that he is worthy of love, and embrace those who love him was truly beautiful to see. I love a good arc and he really comes full circle. He had a lot of work to do and he also had a lot of help. Francesca had her own troubles and fought constantly in her profession as well as the mental battles against her abusive ex. She had to learn to trust again and learn to love again and thanks to Austin, she was able to do so. This book is very interesting, well written, has wonderful, endearing characters and a compelling plot. I found it impossible to put down once I started. I highly recommend it.

You'll also read some raw, rough, sexy times, you know, the ones Piper Stone is gloriously famous for. Frannie has been receiving some death threats lately and it has left her feeling out of control. When she picks up a hitchhiker, something she would never ever do, she decides to go with it. She didn't expect this hitchhiker to be very sexy and very dominant. This was a really good romance with danger and mystery.

Is this why you never pick up a hitchhiker. Franny is going home and stops to help a hitchhiker that's going to her hometown. There is this instant attraction between them and the chemistry starts right at the beginning of the story. (HOT) The hotel catches fire and when Austin gets hurt saving her things she drops him off at Hawks place and then reports the fire to the sheriff. He's not impressed but Fanny thinks someone is after her. So much action, spankings, domination, twists and turns, and plenty of STEAM. Montana Bad Boys series is soooooo great.
