Just wasn’t for me.

There’s nothing wrong with this story, it just wasn’t really for me. I enjoyed the overall plot, but the writing style was hard for me to get into. So if you’re looking for a couple who joins a club for swapping, and then things go awry, of course, then you may enjoy this book. It’s written in third person, and it has a bit of a quick obsession vibe to it. So if those things are for you, then go for it!

His to Steal is book 1 in Autumn Archer’s Unforgettable Series and I think it was her debut novel (at least that’s what I remember it saying in the ‘Dear Reader’ section at the end of the book.) I would like to give a shout-out to my goodreads friend, Shirl, for recommending this to me (THANK YOU!!!). It was 3 well-earned smutty stars.

I have been in a bit of a book rut lately and to top it off, I was recently tasked with hosting out of town guests for 6 days.

That’s right SIX DAYS!!!!!!

description

Back in the day, when I didn’t realize House Hunters was mostly fake, I would tune into that show and be blown away by how many people would rule out a home based on its inability to entertain a large number of guests (the dining room wasn’t large enough, the kitchen was isolated, blah, blah, blah).

First off, for me, a home that lacks the right space for hosting would be a plus. It guarantees you a ready excuse as to why your house wouldn't work for whatever party/holiday gathering that was in need of a venue. Second....how many parties are all these people on HGTV having??? Clearly, I’m the out of touch introverted loser because having large gatherings at my house on a regular basis sounds AWFUL.

Hosting guests for a continuous six-day-long party…….

description

But, I survived.

And I may have secretly drank wine in my bedroom closet to do so.

Getting back to His to Steal….

This was the perfect book to read after my six-day hostessing gig. It wasn’t deep, complicated or long. This baby wrapped up in 160 pages on my Kindle which was PERFECT because I was too damn depleted to invest myself in anything over 200 pages.

This book is basically insta-lust on steroids (which, I didn’t mind). There’s a sexy alpha hotel & distillery-owning/sex-club host (???) and a beautiful, unspecified office worker who cross paths and boom

description

But, he’s got issues.

And she’s got issues…. with those issues.

And then, the book ends on a cliffhanger (but not a real cliffhanger, because you could see this ending coming a mile away (or more accurately, 32% into the book). Normally, I’m not a fan of cliffhangers, but this book was free on KU and so is book 2, so I plan on seeing how this series plays out.

Overall, this book was decent. The plot worked, though some of the events were a little obvious and predictable. I would like to have seen better emotional chemistry between the H and h but again, this book was short, so that's a trade-off, I suppose. And, while the dialog between the characters was a little subpar (especially during the steamy scenes), the author had very well-written descriptions of scenery.

Now, this is more of an aside, but I noticed that there were multiple errors in this book. I don’t fully blame the authors when I catch errors. In fact, I mostly blame their editors. Editors get paid good money to catch that shit and I think it stinks when they miss really obvious stuff.

In conclusion, there were some things that could have been better, but the book delivered for what I needed it to be and for that, it’s a good 3-star smut-read.

I was recently given the opportunity to read VERTO VENERI. Its the first book in the UNFORGETTABLE series, and it is HOT!!! *fans self*
This novella is a fairly quick read, but don’t let its size fool you; it is packed full of twists and turns and has one corker of a cliffhanger, which will leave you desperately in need of the next book. Its hard to believe that this is the debut from Autumn Archer. The story flowed well, and I liked Lana, although at times I wanted to bash her on the head in hopes she would wise up to what a tool Rory was!!! As for Marcus, the jury is still out on him. He is a bit of a closed book, very mysterious, and isn’t afraid to just take what he wants. BUT, towards the end, I could see how much he was willing to protect Lana, which endeared him to me a little more. I’m looking forward to seeing what happens next in this story, and I hope we get to see more of the softer side of Mr McGrath!!

Oh Marcus, you are a naughty boy, aren't you?

I enjoyed His to Steal. It was sexy, exciting and the plot was there.

I liked both Marcus and Lana, and Rory was a great person to hate.

It was well written, maybe a few too many adjectives, and at times the dialogue seemed unnatural, but on the whole a decent erotic suspense novel.

I'll be getting the next book to find out what happens, even if it was a bit too much of a cliffhanger for my liking.

This is Autumn Archer's debut novel and it's so good!
I have to say that I tend to stay away from books written in the third person - weird pet peeve? Sure - but after a couple of pages; I was so into the story I barely noticed it.
The writing is that good and enthralling.
The story just flows seamlessly.

"... club ‘Verto Veneri’ in Belfast, known only to the rich and salacious, by invitation only."
Uh... yes, sign me in.

After reading this blurb, I just new I had to dive right in.

Lana and Marcus are pure fire: sexual tension through the roof. I loved every single interaction between the two.
This.book.is.HOT.

It's a quick read, but it has so much to it. Keeps you on the edge of your seat the entire time.

Signed contracts: a deal with the devil, you say? Maybe. But to Marcus McGrath I would gladly sell my soul.

Verto Veneri it's book 1 in the Unforgettable Series; it ends with a cliffhanger and I can't wait to get my hands on the next book.

I couldn’t believe this is the authors first story. It truly sucked me in and never let go. This book is so much more than I thought it would be. The characters had a connection I could feel coming off the pages.
At first I thought the story was about the adult club but it’s kind of not. It’s sooo much more than that! I loved this book so much! It ends on a cliffhanger and I truly can’t wait for book 2, Veritas!

Hot, hot and I mean damn hot. Verto Veneri is the first book in The Unforgettable Series and believe me this is one story that you will not forget anytime soon. A story full of intrigue, suspense, drama, secrets and some seriously steamy scenes. What happens when your relationship turns out not to be what you thought it was, when another man takes over your thoughts and owns your body like no other and a murder brings everything to a grinding halt. Marcus and Lana will have your head in a spin and gripped to their intoxicating story. This first book might be quick but it packs a punch and leaves you wanting more.

I was given an advanced readers copy of this book and have decided to leave a voluntary honest review. I love BDSM books so I assumed with Marcus owning a sex club there would be a lot more interesting scenes then I seen. It was interesting at the end. But I guess I just expected more. I am however excited for the next book.

What a hot read! I was amazed to hear that this is a debut book. Usually you can tell if a story was made in a rush. But in all honestly, Verto Veneri was perfect down to the T! The hotness factor was through the roof. The way Marcus presented himself makes the mystery of the man more appealing. Lana was made to fit as the heroine. This is a fast pace Novella, but once you are at the end, you feel like you read a full Novel. I cannot wait for more!

Couldn't make it past 20%

I honestly tried to give this book a good go as it has great promise. Unfortunately I just couldn't get past the poor stunted dialogue, the confusing POV from 3rd person and the total lack of consent.

For a book about kink this instantly made me want to stop reading when despite the FMC saying she didn't want to be there but getting forced into it, then she's drunk and is going to be punished for saying no to another member, then to top it all she is drunk and the threat of punishment for saying no is held over her to coerce her into a sexual act .... I mean I like some dark reads but this was just big red flags all over the place for no real reason when that type of dynamic hadn't even been introduced

Verto Veneri is book one in The Unforgettable Series. This is a fast paced novella that you just gotta read in one sitting.

Lana and Marcus are so hot together. Lana is a great character. I liked her straight away. Marcus is the sexy rich guy.

Hopefully book two will give us some more BDSM scenes with this hot couple. Great praise to the author on her debut novel. After that ending I can’t wait to read book two.

Verto Veneri was a book I absolutely wasn't expecting. I was thrown into vortex of feelings and the words that left Autumn Archer's pen...Le sigh. I mean I was already intrigued by reading the blurb and I wanted to give it a try but haven't expected the story to grab me like this. Like an invisible fist holding onto me that wouldn't let loose. I finished it in few hours as I couldn't and totally haven't wanted to put the book down, like at all. It's full of steaminess and boy I enjoyed it and the best part? The story totally turns right into thriller in the end and leave you thirsty for more.

Can't wait to read the second instalment in the series.

I loved this book so much, it was wonderfully written. I don’t usually like books written in 3rd person POV but I fell in love with the story instantly. I loved both main characters and the connection they formed in such a short space of time. Marcus was super dreamy even though he tried to come across as quite cold and unfeeling. I think Lana was a brilliant character - she was equal parts strong and insecure which I think made her more relatable and the latter landed her in Marcus’ hotel so can’t be a negative, hey! This story had heat, suspense, angst and drama, which is exactly what I look for when it comes to romantic fiction! Oh, and that cliffhanger! Can’t wait to read the next book and see what happens in Marcus and Lana’s story.

This is the first I’ve read by this author and it was a pleasant surprise.

Set in Northern Ireland, the story starts around the club in the title, Verto Veneri. Lana and her boyfriend Rory start attending in an attempt to inject some spice into their love life. This is where Lana meets the enigmatic owner, Marcus McGrath.

The dynamic between Lana and Marcus is just scorching. They are one hot couple. Fighting the attraction whilst trying to hold on to her relationship with Rory becomes increasingly difficult for Lana.

The book started out well and just got better and better as it went along. By the time I got to the cliffhanger ending, I was ready to shout ‘noooo’ at my Kindle and throw it down in disgust.

I was gripped by the suspense element that was introduced towards the end and I cannot wait to find out what happens next. Thankfully I don’t have to wait too long for Veritas, the next in the series. Bring it on!

Really great story line! Awesome for a debut novel!
Lana and Marcus meet in a secret sex club, where she’s gone to with her boyfriend Rory. Total douche in my eyes 😅 sorry. Marcus is the owner of the Hotel, hot rich dark alpha male.

Alright. What do I think about Verto Veneri? Well, I can say I liked it. I really did. But I would've loved if Lana & Marcus had had more time together.

Normally, I don't read books where either the hero or heroine are in a relationship with someone else. That just don't do it for me. Though this time, I decided to make an exception because I thought the story deserved a chance, & I was right.

I'm looking forward to read more about Lana & Marcus. Hopefully, they'll get their happily ever after!!! Don't forget to give Verto Veneri a chance. 😉

Holy shit.

This book is seriously hot.

Right from the beginning when Lana meets Marcus it’s off the scale hot! There is just the right amount of suspense to keep you turning the pages. Although it’s only a novella of sorts it still has enough story to grip you and leave you wanting more.

Especially when Lana finds out her fiancé isn’t the man she thought he was!

Bring on Veritas!

Needs an editor

This book series desperately needs an editor. Multiple words that are spelled correctly but aren’t the correct word for the sentence. For instance: Titled when the author meant tilted. Or their/there mistakes. I lost count of how many writing errors there were, but they were incredibly distracting.

As for the story, both characters were very immature. It was hard to root for either of them. The final deal breaker for me was when the MMC had sex with someone else after becoming involved with the FMC. Just a frustrating read from start to finish.

A wonderful hot & sexy debut

Autumn Archer has written a Hot and sexy introduction to her THE UNFORGETTABLE SERIES that had me fanning myself all the way through. The fact that this was her debut story was even more surprising. Her writing flowed effortlessly and kept me intrigued from beginning to end.

VERTO VENERI although short, this book is anything but sweet and it certainly packs a punch. It pulled me in from the very beginning when Rory O'Hare is trying to convince his girlfriend, Lana Craig, that attending Club Verto Veneri would change their relationship. How right he was ... but not in the way that he or she were expecting. There Lana meets Marcus McGrath, the club's owner and a man who will definitely turn her world upside down.

I absolutely loved Lana and Marcus, the sexual tension and chemistry between them was red hot enough to have a volcano erupting. In many ways Lana was extremely naive, however Marcus was the type of man who always got what he wanted ... and despite all his efforts, he could never forget Lana, nor could he stay away from her. His domineering ways certainly brought out Lana's submissiveness. This man was to die for!!! He was also tender and very protective of Lana, when the situation called for it.

The book ends on one HUGE cliffhanger, but don't let that deter you from reading it. It is steamy, sensual and at times, very erotic. Can't wait to see where Autumn takes this story.

What can you do to save your relationship with someone you love?
Well Lena did everything to save her relationship with Rory even going to VERTO VENERI club but she did not know the first step she set on that club her fate will change.
Ever met someone so beautiful and lost control over your body and emotions?
Lena did!
I hated Rory because he was a cheater and a liar but i felt so sorry for him
Beware there is this person you should never trust and the author didn’t write that character to waste your time. She knew how to write every role and the characters in the book one weren’t randomly chosen
Anyway, I don’t want to spoil the book
It’s a must read I was so happy because it was an honour reading that book
But beware the end will leave you mouth opened. There is a cliffhanger!!!! ATTENTION

I was up late reading this book, and half way through, I was checking to see if the next one is out. I won this book, and so glad I did. Autumn Archer is an excellent story teller.

Lana and her boyfriend sign up to be a part of a couples sex club, you guessed it...his idea. She’s uncomfortable with it, and he pretty much leaves her as soon as he gets there. Ok, so I am not one for cheating, but when your boyfriend is already staying out all night many nights, I think it’s pretty safe to say, he’s already cheating. He’s a bit of a pos tool and she puts up with a lot of crap from him. She doesn’t sleep with anyone herself, but does have a sexy encounter with the playboy club owner Marcus. From the club, everything starts spiraling in her world. This book leaves you on a crazy cliffhanger.....and I think we all know I read the 2nd book too.

This was not a technical safe read, but her pos boyfriend did not deserve any respect she gave, so he was kinda null and void for me, right from the first chapter. Pretty sure that’s why this was called “His To Steal”....just sayin. She and Marcus have amazing chemistry, but he’s a playboy and commitment phobe. This was a really great read, I could not put it down. Crazy ass cliffhanger. Thank you Autumn Archer for the great read.
