Jake can’t live this way any longer.

I couldn't finish this. I just got so tried of the "men are stupid and incompetent but women know everything and can do everything" theme. I guess it is my own fault. I should have realized the story would be this way with a title like "Clueless Cowboy." Plus the descriptions of the guy sounded like a light breeze would knock him over. Then the typos! The girls and I are still wondering how Emily took his BOOKS off of him in the scene after the tree fell on him. Finally the "I love you, I hate you, I love you" routine was so annoying.

Oh man, this book is a crack up with Jake and Emily's characters. Fun banter back and forth after they met. Arguing with Jake wanting to be left alone, don't want anyone to know he lives there and how he wants to live as a pioneer. Emily arguing she won't tell anyone he's living there, how he needs modern electricity and appliances in the house. This book was hard to put down and so funny. Enjoyed this book immensely! Sometimes my husband and I banter back and forth like this. So fun!
Stephie was so cute in this book!

Clueless cowboy

I have read a number of her books, but I absolutely love this one. I love how God is in her writings.

I WOULD recommend this to anyone who loves a good book. It's refreshing to find an author who is a Christian.

I hope I can find all her books and read each one.

Of the Mary Connealy books I've read so far, I'm preferring the ones set in the 19th century. This one was one of the better modern ones. I really got a kick out of Jake who really is clueless about so much of life. The "disasters" in this one weren't as traumatic as in some of her books, but still were good plot twists.

Poor, clueless cowboy

Jake Hanson & Emily Johannson become neighbors when he buys the ranch next door. He knows nothing about ranching. Emily knows everything. She & her 8 year old sister Stephie set about teaching Jake about cowboying. Another delightful tale by my favorite writer, Mary Connealy.

A sweet story

This is a sweet story that really touched me in places. His realization that God has always been with him, he was the one who stopped talking to God; that was a zing to the heart message. Many of Jake's experiences were mine as well and I felt how he felt. This ended like a love story should.

Not a Cowboy But Oh Well

I love Mary Conneally ‘s humor. She always makes me laugh out loud. This book was good, but seemed a little shorter and disjointed than her others. But I’m always a fan. The Trouble in Texas and Especially the In Too Deep trilogy are my favorites:)

Good light read

Easy on the believability, but we'll written. The author does a good job of fleshing out the characters. There is a nice balance between tension and humor.

This book was good. It had sweet romance, good action, and silly humor.
I, of course, loved the western setting, even though it was contemporary.
I believe I laughed, but doubt I cried.
(*SPOILER ALERT!!!*)
Emily was a pretty good character. She was kind, sweet, sassy, and easy to relate with. She was really great with Jake. I thought they were cute together, though I kind of wish there was a little more romance in there.
Jake was hilarious. Did you notice how he could not stay out of trouble? From jumping into rosebushes, to getting trapped under a fallen tree, to staying in the sun too long and getting dehydrated to the point of helplessness. It was kinda funny. He couldn't live without Emily. They will sure have an exciting, event-filled marriage!
Yep, I've made up my mind. Mary Connealy just doesn't like the name Sid. I have read nearly every single one of her books and have found three different guys with the name Sidney (or Sid for short). From Mandy McClellen's worthless, wimpy husband in the Sophie's Daughters series, to the cruel, ruthless outlaw in Wildflower Bride (Montana Marriages series), to the embezzling no-account in this one. Definitely doesn't like it. I wonder if it's the name of an old, stupid boyfriend that jilted her and she's getting her revenge in print (my type of girl) or if it's simply a name that she doesn't like and goes great as a bad guy's name (I'd have to agree). Hmm...
Stephie was a sweetie. She was so kind, and considerate, and strong, and wonderful, and cute. She really was a great little kid. I loved her the moment she burst into the room and said, “Hi, Jake.”
Buffy and Wyatt were really great, just as wonderful as they were in Buffalo Gal.

Once again Connealy's humor makes this story an enjoyable read. City boy meets country girl. Simple plot but full of mishaps that keep it interesting. The sparks between Jake and Emily tend to go from one extreme to the other somewhat losing me at times. There is no way Emily could do all the things she does in a day...so better to push reality aside while reading or you won't enjoy the book.

Something in this book just didn't seem proportional. Maybe his partner should have stuck around a couple of days. It felt like the pace unnaturally speed up the closer we got to the end. It wasn't one of her better books but it was okay. I don't really think the title fits. The guy was clueless about living on a farm, but they really didn't have a ranch or go on a cattle drive, but I guess Factless Farmer doesn't have the same ring to it.

Loved the role reversal of a cowboy not knowing how to work on a farm, but a woman because of her circumstances knowing all the ropes. I get tired of it all being about women not knowing the work on a farm or ranch. This was a refreshing read which was well written and well developed characters. Loved the inspirational thread.

Whenever I'm chuckling over a book, it's got to be Janet Evanovich or Mary Connealy.
The author's expertise with cattle shows in Clueless Cowboy as rancher Emily teaches new neighbor Jake how to survive in South Dakota - no easy task!

I loved learning about ranching right along with Jake! And I loved how the Johannson sisters were introduced in book 1. I also love sweet Stephie! What a doll!
