If you're a fan of Bravo's, Below Deck, you'll love The Bosun.
Fresh off her divorce, Stella needed to get away from her ex-husband, and the pitying looks and whispers behind her back, she got from her hometown.
Queue her best friend's plan to get Stella out of her rut: One chartered yacht, the beautiful waters of Spain, and one hot ex-Marine.
What happens when one forbidden night under the stars makes you want what you can’t have?
The Bosun is a stand-alone in the Love is Blind series. The series has crossover characters from each novel. It is not required to read the books in order, but it is recommended to enhance the reading experience.
Harlow Layne is known for her contemporary romance style of beautiful slow-burn, sweet, sexy and swoon-worthy alphas, and fast pace, super-steamy romance in her Love is Blind series.
The Bosun is book three in the Love is Blind series by Harlow Layne. This can be read as a complete stand alone. But, I did very much enjoy getting to spend time with Ryder and Lexie from book two, The Model, and see how they are doing.
bo•sun /ˈbōsn/ noun a ship's officer in charge of equipment and the crew.
Remy St. James is twenty six years old and is an ex-marine. When Remy got out of the Marines, he was in a very dark, bad place. He didn’t want to go home to his dad. So he took a job working on charter yachts. He now holds the position of bosun. Remy takes his job seriously and never allows himself to be attracted to the clients. That was, until Stella came on board. And he’s positive she’s feeling the same way.
Stella is thirty seven years old. She has just gone through a painful divorce that left her humiliated and unsure of herself. A very rich friend of her best friend has offered to take a group of women on a charter cruise aboard a fancy yacht. How can she say no? Before she was even on board she noticed him and it seemed he couldn’t take his eyes off of her either. Maybe a little fling at sea is just what she needs.
The immediate attraction between these two was strong. All they had time for was a few stolen kisses and one beautiful night under the stars. But Stella is starting a new life as a single woman and Remy’s life is at sea. He is in no position to get into a relationship. But he still can’t help but to imagine how a life with Stella could be.
Okay, I struggled a bit with the first half of this book. I found the behavior of most of the women in the group of Stella’s best friend, Penn’s friends, to be completely high schoolishly immature. But, what do I know. Maybe that’s how the rich and entitled sometimes behave. Add in to this group of misbehaved, one of Remy’s co-workers whose behavior was actually disturbing. I really liked Stella’s best friend, Penn, who by the way, I see will be eventually getting her own book.
The connection between Stella and Remy was one of those unexplainable, unexpected things that threw a curve ball into both of their lives. For Remy, it was for the better. It finally put him on a path of healing. But the road wasn’t an easy one for these two. They had a ways to go before they would find their own happiness together.
This was sexy and sweet. I always enjoy a good insta/love/lust romance. I especially enjoy age gap when the woman is older. I love seeing her find her happiness with a man who sees the beauty she isn’t aware she possesses. Stella and Remy were perfect for each other. Their journey had some bumps along the way but it was all worth it in the end.
This is one of the most beautiful, emotional, raw and captivating books I have ever read. This book will give you all the feels and then some. I was intrigued and on the edge of my seat by everything that happened between these two characters.
The book shows the characters as individuals going through their life struggles. The ups and the downs that they face. Then the book showcases the struggles the two have as a couple. Will they work, won’t they work? Are they better off together or separate? This is not your typical one night stand, never see each other again, this is a love story for the ages. This is a couple that will tug at your heartstrings. These too will take you on a journey, a fun wild ride, but their real raw emotions will come into play and you will get to enjoy and soak up every single word.
Stella is down on her luck, her ex of a husband has not only embarrassed the heck out of her, he destroyed her and their marriage. So frustrated with her life, Stella is looking for a change. Something that will get her out of the funk of her awful life. Stella’s best friend’s decide to sweep her away to a magical vacation in Spain on a beautiful yacht, to get her mind off her horrible life. With the open sea around her, she decides, the salty air will be exactly what she needs to clear her mind but when she gets on the boat and is faced with the sexy as all heck ex-Marine who happens to be part of the crew, she isn’t sure the fresh air will do the trick anymore, maybe it will have to be in the form of the tall dark and handsome crew member?
This book made me laugh out loud. It made me sob. There are issues in this book that are so real life that it will bring tears to your eyes. When I say this book is raw, it is real, it is emotional and everything you want out of a great beautiful book. Life happens and in this book, each chapter is a journey. A journey of the life that Stella is living. A journey that Remy could be the hero, or Stella could be the hero in her own story. There is no one trope or genre this book falls into. There is so much to unpack in this story, that it gives you a sprinkle of everything you could ever want out of a love story. This is some of Harlow’s best writing. She poured her heart and soul into this book and it definitely shows. This is an absolute must read! This book deserves all the stars!
I devoured this book, it's completely unputdownable. The angst and gaps between their relationship had me on the edge of my seat. This book literally had nearly every trope that I adore, no spoilers but you're in for a treat.
The Bosun hit me in an unexpected way. I wasn’t expecting to feel so many emotions when reading it.
Stella is newly divorced and she is ready to move on and live her life starting with a trip to Spain with her friends. She doesn’t expect to have a little vacation fling with one of the works on the boat. Remy left the military and started a new life in Spain working on a yacht. The moment him and Stella meet there is an instant connection.
I instantly fell in love with Stella. She is one of those women who you just want to become best friends with. I loved seeing her confidence grow throughout the story. She has moved on from her divorce and now she is ready to live her life and have what she wants in her life. Remy, it is easy to fall for him. He is kind, caring, protective, but also broken inside. He is struggling with events that happened during his time in the military. The two of them together are amazing. They balance each other out and have some insane chemistry.
This story is emotional, it is beautiful, it is steamy. I loved Stella and Remy, plus all the secondary characters were a great addition. I loved getting to see more of Lexie and Ryder (whose story is featured in The Model) and I am looking forward to the next story, which is Stella’s best friend Penelope.
If you are looking for an age gap, military romance this is one to check out.
4.5 Star Review The Bosun (Love is Blind #3) by Harlow Layne Having read a few books by Harlow Layne, I was excited to dive in to The Bosun, book three in the Love is Blind series. This was an entertaining read that ticked the boxes for me which is a little surprising as age gap romance is not really a trope I usually enjoy. Reeling from a painful divorce and needing to escape her hometown, Stella jumps at the chance when her best friends suggest they charter a yacht and explore the coast of Spain. The Bosun is an emotional story that will draw you in and refuse to let you go. Meeting Remy, a crew member on the yacht, Stella is drawn to him. I really fell for Remy hard and fast and I was cheering for both Stella and Remy to overcome their pasts and together make a beautiful future together The chemistry and attraction between Stella and Remy was intense. The connection between them is deep and you could feel the love and passion that sizzles between them. There were moments where I laughed, moments where I cried and moments where I swooned. My emotions were all over the place and The Bosun tugged at my heartstrings.
Absolutely unputdownable! I devoured this book and did not regret any minute of sleep I lost! I kept thinking this is "How Stella got her Groove Back" but its so much more!!! An age gap healing of hearts that is sure to warm your soul and beg for a happily ever after!
I could not stop rooting for Remy and Stella even after all the road bumps, pot holes, and detours they encountered. Remy is a man of gold who doesn't know his worth and still has demons creeping up from his past. And Stella is the scorn woman just trying to find who she is and build her confidence not only with herself but with finding true love. These 2 characters are so relatable and end up burying themselves deep in your heart that you have no other choice but to keep reading and hoping they find their happiness. Although it's a rough ride, its well worth it . . . Not only in this story but in real life. Harlow has added another amazing story to this Love is Blind series and one that I won't be forgetting anytime soon.
Book 3 in the Love is Blind series by Harlow Layne and let me just say, what an amazing read. Loved Stella and Remy. Their relationship wasn’t a conventional one since she was older but it was perfect for them. Love doesn’t see age when it is right. The path to the HEA wasn’t without bumps and bruises but once they get there, it was worth all the struggles. Harlow has a way to create a world and characters that will pull you in from page one and not let you go even after you finish their story. Love her work. Highly recommend.
I just can't even with this book!! It took me a a rollercoaster ride of emotions! Several times I wanted to smack Remy upside the head!! Though I did adore him right from the start. But it was Stella that stole my heart in this one. The Bosun was so much more than I could have ever expected. It was emotional, hot as heck and a beautiful story.
The Bosun was so good! It was emotional, impactful, and sweet all wrapped in to one. This book was definitely one I enjoyed and would tell people to read!
Stella is a sweet but also strong women who is trying to find happiness after being cheated on. Remy is just trying to get through each day after having strong guilt being in the military. The connection between these characters is one that is instant. There was a sense of comfortability when Remy and Stella first meet. These two are very down to earth characters, however they both have to overcome from their pasts to grow as a person and live a happy life. There was definitely some steam between Remy and Stella. This book is a wild journey that proves fate is a thing.
I love how Harlow always includes other characters from the series / other books into her current book. To me it adds a sense familiarness. This is definitely one of the writing styles I love of Harlow Layne. I can’t wait to see what Harlow has in store for us next. I’m definitely looking forward to Penelope and Walkers book!
Another winning story from Harlow Layne. Remy and Stella do not have an easy path to get to their HEA. Their story has lots of ups and downs. Strong and believable main characters make this story relatable and interesting secondary characters make it fun. Loved it!!!
This is a steamy age gap romance. Stella is moving on and trying to put her divorce behind her. Her friends take her away on a yacht off the shores of Spain. Enter Remy, the sexy bosun of the yacht. Their attraction is instantaneous. They get to share one unforgettable night before circumstances pull them apart. Stella is gorgeous inside and out, she is sexy and strong, moving past her divorce and going after what she wants and needs from life. She has some kick-ass friends who are there to support her. Remy is dirty talking and downright sexy, but he is struggling with a past he has run away from, when what he needs to do is face it head on and begin to heal. If circumstances pulled them apart, circumstances also helped them find each other again. During their time apart they did not forget each other, but they each took time to start healing from the pasts that define who they are now. Time apart did not lessen their chemistry, which is off the charts, it lights up the pages. Like any good romance, they weather the ups and downs to ultimately find their HEA. Along with Remy and Stella, there is an array of supporting characters many you will love (two in particular, who I hope get their own book) and some you will love to hate. All in all, this was an entertaining, steamy read, a must for any TBR list. Advanced copy provided by the author in exchange for an honest review.
OMG y’all! Flutters of excitement, this book gave me butterflies 🦋 and goosebumps and so many moments of fan myself goodness! 😍
So, Harlow Layne is MY GIRL an absolute reaper of Reverse Age Gap! SHE KILLS IT EVERY DANG TIME! Intern, The Model and now The Bosun! GAH! My heart is so full though, y’all! Holy Moly Harlow Layne sure put me through the ringer though as always. Lol There are so many unexpected gems in this book, it will give you everything you are yearning for and things you didn’t even know you wanted or needed. 🙌🏻 From the second you crack the first page it will keep you hanging on every word hoping against all that Stella gets her groove back and overcomes everything her disastrous marriage and divorce put her through. Amongst dramatically sweet and swoony and incredibly funny mishaps, to unexpected moments of frustration, Remy and Stella’s journey is the most delectably phenomenal rollercoaster of emotions. I laughed, I cried, I stressed, I swooned. I fell so hard for and couldn't help but to root for the sexy, sweet and so perfectly matched for Stella , Remy. In the past ladies I may have claimed in no uncertain terms that Ryder was MINE, but believe me when I say Remy sure gives him a run for his money. He’s mine too just letting y’all know now! I will share him with Stella, cause she’s my girl and her and Pen would probably gang up on me, but I’m not sharing with nobody else. Lol 😏 Stella is a loving friend, sweet, sassy, but is trying to regain her confidence after her ex-husband did the unthinkable. When she first sees the off limits, Remy, she is blown away by this drop dead gorgeous man. He is legit EVERYTHING! He could do things to her body she didn’t even know were possible. She’s had a rough go as of late and he only wants to make her feel desired and make her feel better. They both know this can only be a super secret vacation romance. When life throws situations that beg to differ will Stella take the opportunity given and finally get her much deserved HEA? Remy is working as the bosun on a chartered Yacht when he first meets Stella and her band of wild and missflt friends. He is this phenomenally hot, sweet, young and fun-loving guy but also very off-limits charter staff member. But he’s also very mature and polite. However he is hiding some secrets and feelings of his own. This guy may be young but he’s far from a kid, the stuff he's seen and dealing with, OMG!! The tears y’all. Oh how I cried! . This guy is all alpha man. He’s dirty and dominant in the bedroom, and sweet and the perfect gentleman outside. AHHH! Yes, he’s that Yummy of a combo, ladies. He’s got it bad for his “sexy Stella.” When the vacation is over can Remy just walk away and just forget about Stella? There are most definitely many obstacles that she and Remy must overcome but they just had this undeniable chemistry from the moment they first met. It was hot and electric and they never stood a chance at not giving into their feelings physically, they were just that flipping hot y’all! But more than that, their emotional connection.
There is always something a little unconventional about Harlow Layne’s couples, they are truly amazingly beautifully connected couples. Be it life circumstances, appearances, or age difference, she always manages to shock us in some way with their life’s journey up to the point of meeting. Her approach to how her couples handle and grow through their challenges and differences are what makes her books heartwarming, edgy, swoony, suspenseful and at times angsty. Nevertheless her couples love stories always manage to transcend whatever life throws their way. The characters are strong, resilient and above all they LOVE BIG and love should always win. It does and so do you with every Harlow Layne book, because there is always a Happily Ever After!! Swoon 🥰🥰 My Cr8zysockbookblock blog ratings wrap up for this book! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐⭐- six bring me on that boat and heal all my hurts, Stars. So grateful for the Ryder and Lexie visits. 😍😍I FLOVE THEM! This is so much bigger than a Five Star Read. 👆🏻(See that extra star) 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥-There are not enough words in the dictionary to adequately describe the level of hotness🔥🔥 that you are gonna get with Remy and Stella’s stolen sexy love scenes!! 🔥🥵🔥 This is most definitely a Panty Chucker Y’all! (Chuck em , you don’t need em’) 🌪Cliffhanger Warning-🌪🌪No Cliffhanger! *insert sigh of contentment and happiness*🥰 #EndingPerfection
The Bosun is an emotional & steamy reverse age gap romance in a bit of the same vein of How Stella Got Her Groove Back. In The Bosun, this Stella is taking a luxury vacation on a yacht off the coast of Spain. Healing from divorce, she’s looking to relax and recharge...she didn’t expect to find the young and sexy Remy working on the yacht. Instant attraction and chemistry ensue but the trip has to end and Stella has to return to reality.
Unexpected and surprise circumstances bring them together again but is this a second chance or another heartbreak for both? I have to say this book had me thinking it was going to be a sweet and steamy ride and then bam!! Heartache just hits you and your heart breaks for both Stella and Remy for same and different reasons. My heart was a little sore for a while before conversations and surprises bring them back together.
Add in some favorite and super sexy characters from The Model and this book was just so good. Steamy, emotional, funny and just really interesting.
On a personal level, I was SO excited to read a character that I related to so much. Stella is a white passing bi-racial black woman and the trials and tribulations she spoke about enduring in her life (and dealt with from a certain “friend”) felt like passages from my own life. This is the first time I have honestly read a character that “looked” like me and was dealt with the same issues I have as a white passing bi-racial black woman. So that part alone just made me stop and tear up a bit. So thank you to the author!
I loved this book and the paperback is already ordered! I cannot wait for The Rocker next!!
SWOON! My heart went through the wringer with this one. Stella and Remy pulled every last emotion from me. The steamy build up and undeniable connection they had for each other made my body burn and my heart melt. And I loved how the yacht experience reminded me of one of my favorite guilty pleasure tv shows, Below Deck Mediterranean. It was heartbreaking, fun, sexy, angsty, and downright unforgettable.
Stella is the older woman who practically falls head first into something unexpected with a younger, sinfully gorgeous man. She been through heartbreak and humiliation with her ex and is trying to hold her head high and move on from it. The sexual tension is high and the situation is risky but the pull to each other can't and won't be denied. Her confidence is slowly coming back, she's doing the work to get there and it also helps that Remy voices his praise for her every chance he gets.
Remy is ex-military and has seen things that have forever left scars on his heart and mind. He's giving it a fresh start by working on these yacht charters but something is missing. Stella comes into his life and he can't help but be drawn to her, making him long for different things. But he still has work to do on himself and unfortunately it seems to keep getting in the way.
This is by far one of my favorites from Harlow. I couldn't help but be glued to the pages. It gave me all the feels, made me laugh, made me cry, and made me hope. I'm so in love with this couple, they'll forever have a place in my heart. Must read!
Omg , what a phenomenal book !! Harlow has delivered one of the most emotional, and captivating stories I have read in a very long time . Not that I would expect any less . Every down I sit down to read one of her books I know I am going to fall in love with the characters ( I tend to get extremely invested not only in the characters but the story as well , especially when I’m reading one of my favorite authors.. The Bosun is not only emotional and full of steam but it is also a reverse age gap romance ( luv 💜) I loved Stella’s and Remy”s story so much . Looking to get away and relax after a not so pleasant divorce , Stella goes on a Luxury cruise , the last thing she expects to happens is meet Remy who is working on the yacht, the attraction and chemistry between these two is instant , off the charts hot . Many circumstances keep bringing them together , and the more time they spend with each other the more the attraction grows , before they know it they are falling for each other . Of course there are obstacles / some emotional that they must work through . My emotions were all over the place , like a rollercoaster. There were moments I absolutely thought that everything was going to go smoothly, but then bam before you know what’s happening/ heartache for both is thrown into the mix . I literally was on the edge of my seat through the whole entire book . I genuinely loved every moment of Stella and Remys , especially the way their relationship developed throughout the Book . How can you not love a Book Harlow , she is a true queen when it comes to Romance ❤️💜📚
The Bosun is book three in the Love is Blind series. The Bosun is a reverse age gap, first responder, and military romance. The book is a standalone novel but has characters from the other Love is Blind books. A bosun is a ship's officer in charge of equipment and the crew. Remy is the bosun on a luxury yacht and Stella is recently divorced and escapes to a vacation on the same yacht.
The chemistry between Stella and Remy is instant and off the charts! These two are hot and their banter and connection is almost as hot as they are. What seems like a fleeting crush turns into the possibility of more. Stella finds herself back home in California and a wildfire brings Remy into the state could the sparks fly again? Well, you will have to read The Bosun to find out. What I can tell you is the story between Stella and Remy is deep, heartfelt and sexy as hell. This story pulled at my heart strings and had me gasping as much as it had me fanning myself. There is plenty of fun, drama, and sex to keep you going! This whole series contains age gaps, specifically reverse age gap. Stella is a bit older than Remy but what Remy lacks in age he makes up for in wisdom and life experiences. This story had me giggling and a few chapters later it had my emotions in high gear and wondering what the heck Harlow loved to put her characters in danger! She always has a goal and she more than achieved it with this story. The Bosun is one of my favorites yet!
This by far is my favourite of harlows books. It kept me enthralled from the first page and it was easily devoured within a day. This is a insta attraction second chance romance full of so much sizzle I had to fan myself quiet a bit.
When Stella is invited to a trip after a really bad break up with her ex husband her best friends tries to make her forget and escape. I loved the dynamic between Penelope and Stella, she’s the sort of best friend you want by your side. Both Remy and Stella had pasts that in my opinion felt like they were meant to help sooth each other. I felt every emotion they shared even for a short time, there was a constant push and pull. It was a roller coaster of emotions which I welcomed. Without reading the other books in the series it was easily read and doesn’t require to be read prior but I will have to go back because I feel like I have missed out if this amazing read came out of this series. I cannot wait to read more from Harlow and this series in general.
I had the privilege of getting an early copy of this book before it was released. Our main characters are Stella and Remy who meet when Stella spends a holiday on a yacht in the Mediterranean where Remy is the bosun.
Stella is going through a challenging moment in her life. Fresh from a divorce she’s trying to get her life back after years of putting her dreams to the side to support her now ex-husband. She gets an invitation to spend a well-deserved break travelling on a posh yacht through the Spanish coasts with her friends. She is immediately drawn by the young and handsome bosun of the vessel.
Sparks fly between Remy and Stella so much so that their mutual attraction is evident for everyone aboard, which creates a little soap opera between crew and guests.
All good things must come to an end so Stella goes back to California and Remy goes through a rough time. He is a lost soul, with no permanent home and struggling with his past. Remy starts an emotional journey of his own to reconnect his previous life to the man he wants to become.
The Bosun gave me all the feels. I loved Stella’s best friend and seeing Ryder and Lexie from The Model. I can not recommend this book enough, it is a beautiful love story where the heroes work hard to overcome difficult times and rebuild their lives to find the happiness they deserve.
I haven’t read the previous books in this series but that’s about to change because this book is an entertaining read that captivated me from the start. This book can certainly be read and enjoyed as a stand-alone. Stella is trying to get her life back on track after a painful divorce so when one of her best friends suggest chartering a yacht to sail around Spain she jumps at the opportunity. She thought she was heading for a relaxing, fun cruise exploring new places what she actually got was a new love interest. Remy is the hot bosun on the yacht and there is an instant attraction between him and Stella but they only get to share one night before circumstances tear them apart... So what does the future hold for this adorable couple and will fate help them find each other again.... This book ticked all my boxes, I was captivated by the starry and I fell hard and fast for the characters, the chemistry is sizzling and the romance is heartwarming, all in all a great read and I’m looking forward to playing catch-up with this series.
God this book, it will grab your heart and squeeze and not let go. It hit me straight in my feels and had me laughing, crying, mad, and swooning all at the same time. Stella and Remy are perfect for each other!! This is must read from the very talented, Harlow Layne, as she weaves her magic again through another perfectly written story. She is a go to author for me every time! Be sure to grab a copy of this book. You won’t be disappointed. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy of this book.
It’s a beautiful and touching romance which proves that what is meant to be - will be. It was a game of false words (rumors), hidden sufferings and giving yourself a chance. It makes us remember that we never should stay just on first impression and that sometimes others hurt us to save us (however we didn’t need saving). But most of all it shows us that communication is a key in every relationship. You should speak, you should check the informations given to you by someone else and you should never assume that you knows what another person wants, needs and what might make her run for the hills. It was beautiful romance, with so touching characters. And the cherry on the top was more of Ryder and Lexie, it was great to have them as secondary characters. Definitely worth reading.
Harlow Layne continues with an angsty and enjoyable read. I think this is my favourite out of all the books in the series. I couldn't put it down. It was so relatable and addicting. Stella and Remy definitely hit the spot for me, they gave me all the feels. The chemistry between them is off the charts and the storyline is filled with funny, steamy and emotional moments. I loved it and it's a must read!
5 BEAUTIFUL STEAMY STARS!! Stella and Remy are beautiful together...these two will make your heart soar. What a beautiful story with lots of steam to make you flip pages. This author's stories are phenomenal, her words are so elegant like writing the perfect song. You must read this book.
The Bosun is an amazing read full of heartbreak and love. It is an age-gap, insta love, second chance romance that is beautifully written. Harlow always knows how to pull you in with her words and makes you fall in love with the characters. Could fate play a role in bringing this them back together or was it meant to be just one night?
A seriously scorching hot fast paced intense romance! Harlow turned a broken man and woman into two amazing characters that were more than meant for each other! Stella, a divorce woman and Remy, a veteran, come together in this tale of love at first sight and fate finding ways to get them together! You will devour this book and not want to put it down!!!
Harlow Layne has written a beautiful story of two unlikely people and the love they share. This is a story with all the things you want in a good romance plus a little bit more.
Stella and Remy don’t work on paper, they are in two totally different places in life, but just because it doesn’t make sense doesn’t mean it shouldn’t work. Their journey is not an easy one, and timing is everything.
This is a steamy, rocky romance but it will be worth it in the end. It features some secondary characters that we are happy to see again and some new characters that hopefully we will get to see more of!
All in all Harlow has done what she does best, she has given us an emotional love story that will grab your attention and not let it go!
