If you have an hour to kill and are a fan of slashers, grab this one.

The action picks up immediately. Fast paced, edge of your seat horror. Characters felt believable.

Without spoilers, there were a couple times I thought “How could that character know that?”. And there were some scenes in the woods that I’m unsure if they were supernatural or part of a character’s mental deterioration. I’m cool with ambiguity, so I didn’t mind.

It was a quick, bloody, entertaining ride.

In addition to the western and medieval horror that's been on the rise lately, road trip style horror for the modern day is also fresh, while drawing on inspiration from the predecessors we consider classics.

The synopsis is pretty encompassing, but essentially it's a story about five people taking a road trip, when one stop at a road-side motel changes the entire trajectory of their travel. The element of survival is definitely present, and when the action is on there is copious amounts of blood crying from the edge of a blade.

A couple of technical details: be a little more selective with the semi colon. A couple of them read like run-on sentences. For the State Police, they don't have the rank of Chief of Police. An individual holding the rank of Captain would be the commanding officer of the barracks.

All-in-all a good story, with an ending that leaves a lot more to be explored. I'd read a sequel if the author is considering it.

I do not know why I bought this book as I'm not too fond of slasher movies and this book follows that formula.

A group of young adults are on a road trip when they meet up with an axe-wielding monster of a man.
True to form they run into the woods and get lost. Of course, they have no method of communication. However, unlike most slasher films, this group is smart enough to stay together! When they finally stumble upon a town, it gets worse.

I found the writing to be top notch and the author shows a sense of humor seldom found in horror/slasher books. The environment and ambiance is well written. The characters are believable.

Note: the grammar and punctuation do need a little work.

However, for a book in a genre that I usually do not read, I found I couldn't put this book down!

Very quick slasher story with a unique ending. I didn’t really love the characters, but I guess that’s to be expected in this short of a piece. The action picks up immediately and is maintained throughout. I feel as though this story could have been played out in a novel with 200+ pages, with a lot more build up to the main antagonist/s. I enjoyed it nonetheless. I want to know much more!

This short work of horror was an extreme disappointment. Not only were the characters deeply unlikeable, but the story was very predictable, including the supposed "twist" at the end. Overall, the only good thing I can say about it was that it was short.

merciless…

The story is fast and brutal. This is a step above a slasher. This story had a mythology that gets under your skin. Read it all in one go. Definitely recommend!
