Elias Ansiri's mission to avert a war was never likely to succeed. Unfortunately for the young ambassador, that doesn't make the sting of failure any easier to bear. Tereus' unexpected invasion might have been repelled, but the elven war is far from over. Faced with the prospect of another decades-long struggle, Elias returns to the work he knows evading capture and acquiring allies. The Isles are filled to the brim with grudges and ambition, after all. And for a renegade ambassador with few friends and fewer options, three feet of sharpened steel is the most valuable commodity of all. ***Conqueror of Isles 2 contains violence, adult content, and harem elements. It is intended for discerning readers***
Our hero failed at his original task, but then everyone knew he would, including himself. But that doesn't mean he is going to give up. Time to try different tactics.
This is book two of the series. It actually reads just fine as a standalone. All the essential bits are covered early on.
This is a light fantasy story which kind of reads like an RPG, but without the game elements. The story is pretty good with an intriguing setting and and easy enough to follow plot. My only real issue with the story is the characters who seem a little flat. I would have liked them to be a little smarter, tougher, or something. That being said, the story remains interesting. I will probably pick up the next one to see if the characters learn anything and up their game.
