NASA publicist Emily Durham bows to no man. Mostly because if she did, she’d be at an awkward crotch level thanks to her petite stature. Besides, big things are overrated. Just like a certain astronaut she knows…
Chief Astronaut Luke Bisbee is used to having all eyes on him. Kind of hard not to when he’s the tallest and largest in the room—whether on Earth on in space. So he makes it a point to smile and look as unthreatening as possible, especially when cameras turn his way. Bonus points for when every smile thrown at Em, his captivatingly cute PR manager, gets a glare tossed back at him in return.
When NASA’s charity event to raise money for STEM programs spins wildly out of control, morphing into an astronaut bachelor auction, both Em and Luke have to use all their stubborn ingenuity and best camera smiles to keep NASA from looking like an aerospace escort service.
But when the last bid is called and Em is left holding the winning ticket will she finally give into Luke’s gravitational pull, or is this mission set to crash land?
This story originally appeared in the 1001 Dark Nights Short Story Anthology 2020.
4+ I am loving this series so, so much, and this short story is no exception. Only one complaint - too short!!
Em (h) is the NASA PR manager. Luke (H) is an astronaut. She's short with a love of the glittery and sparkly - something she finds his (annoying!) smile. He's tall, broad, and with a deep love of the small and adorable - something he finds Em. Will they end up on the same page, or will her avoidance of astronaut PR complications keep her away from NASA's Jolly Green Giant?
So cute! Fun, believable characters, with intelligence and quirks - something I love about this whole series. Just light and happy and people I'd love to spend more time with.
It's a quick read - perfect lunchtime length. But that's also its downside. I would absolutely love a full novel about these two! And the gnomes!!
Alternating 1st person POV. No cheating, love triangle nonsense, or OW/OM drama. Too short for much angst really. Just two people taking a chance on each other (and maybe a touch of motion sickness for drama). Nice, happy lunchtime read, with some cameos from other favorites from the series. HFN (no epilogue, but no cliffhangers either). Seriously, though, would love more from these two!!
Would I read more in this series? BIG yes. I've loved each of the books I've read so far, so will definitely be continuing on.

Heather's Notes This story was really short, but I still liked seeing Luck and Emily get together.
Primary Tropes/Features: Short story (3 chapters), Workplace romance, Golden retriever hero, Frenemies to lovers
Safety warning/Triggers: N/A
I really enjoyed Hudson’s Space series and all its characters and their stories. When it comes to ‘Space Landing’ I cannot fault the writing, the characters, or their potential. In just three chapters I was invested and really enjoyed what I read. Luke and Emily were a hoot in what little we saw of them and I loved their dynamic. It’s just that this story is too short for any substance and leaves you desperate for more to the point that you’re annoyed that these two don’t get a full length book.
Too short, lacks steam! Like both the love interest as well as the plot, but that is as far as the novel lets you go because you take a nose dive back to earth with a (crash landing) after reading the very last lines! (BOOM)... Basically its just a taste of something you may or may not get. Going to suck for some time now on my candy pacifier!
A very short, cute read about Emily, PR Manager at NASA and Chief Astronaut, Luke. They are involved in an astronaut auction and by some mishap, Em wins Luke's tour of NASA with some amusing results. Luke has had his eye on Em for two years and jumps at the chance of getting to know her better. A charming, humorous read.
This is a fun, entertaining, quick read. Luke and Emily are interesting, intriguing, entertaining, complex characters. Their romance is fun to read and spend time with. Hudson packs a lot into less than 30 pages. I felt like I got a whole story and wat truly entertaining. The story is easy to read and get into.
Given the brevity of the pages, knew this was a novella going in.
It was short but the author managed to pack in humor, a fast paced plot, and memorable characters.
Quite a feat, if you consider the limited size. Left this reader searching for any future publications (having already read her excellent astronaut themed series so far).
I love this author’s books, so this short glimpse into another couple’s romance is bittersweet. Luke and Emily’s characters are touched on so we don’t really get to know them but their antics are hilarious. Sweet lunch time read.
I LOVE THIS ENTIRE SERIES! Space Landing is a short taste treat story. Cheif Micro Biologist Astronant Luke likes the delectable little NASA PR lady Emily Durham. She doesn't want to mix work with pleasure but in the end, Luke catches his prey. Linda
A really short story. This once was in an anthology and now is added to the series. Doesn't need to be read to read the other books in the series. It's a cute story about an astronaut and NASA's PR representative.
mf - coworkers - opposites attract - short story - clean - 5 stars - for a short story I thought this was incredibly fun. I liked that it was set in my hometown and that it was a twist on the bachelor auction.
Absolutely one of my favorite authors who has written a great short story in this fantastic series. I laughed and laughed. It just wasn't long enough, can't wait for the next story.
I loved their chemistry and witty quips but I’m confused, was this just a sample? Where is the rest of the story? This was a prologue, not a completer book! I want the rest!
