The Paris Pact

Rate this book
When Ella Fitzgerald makes a pact with her best friend, she never expects he’ll be holding her to it twelve years later.

She’s not going to argue, though. She’s been half in love with Theo Townsend since they were kids. Not that he has any idea. She’s always kept her feelings for him buried, knowing if she told him, it could ruin their friendship forever.

Theo meant every word of the pact he made with Ella all those years ago, but his life as a Major League Baseball player has taken him away from her and their friendship. It looks like he’s got it all: fame, fortune and a different woman on his arm every night. Looks can be deceiving though, and he finds himself comparing every woman he meets to Ella, leaving her never far from his thoughts or his heart.

When the pact brings them back together, it isn’t long before sparks fly. With their lives at polar opposites, are sparks enough to keep the flames of love alive, or will their love be extinguished before it’s even had a chance to start?

Theo and Ella had been best friends since they were little.
At their teens, each one had a crush for the other but never revealed anything as to not spoil their friendship.
They made a pact, if they were both single at thirty, they would get married to each other and their meeting point would be Paris.

When the date for flying to Paris arrived, they had not been in touch for the last four years!!
How can two people be best friends and have no communication for four whole years!!!
I didn’t see the point of this time gap.

They couldn’t have a relationship with other people all this time and having Theo claiming that Ella was his everything couldn’t stop my eyes from rolling!!!
And when they finally expressed their feelings and were together, drama began...

It was a nice and sweet story but just some things felt farfetched to me...

If you made a pact with your best friend as a teenager, one made on the back of hurt, one that would go into adulthood when life takes over, you wouldn’t expect it to happen..right?

“𝘏𝘰𝘸 𝘢𝘣𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘪𝘧 𝘸𝘦’𝘳𝘦 𝘣𝘰𝘵𝘩 𝘴𝘪𝘯𝘨𝘭𝘦 𝘸𝘩𝘦𝘯 𝘺𝘰𝘶’𝘳𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘳𝘵𝘺, 𝘸𝘦 𝘨𝘦𝘵 𝘮𝘢𝘳𝘳𝘪𝘦𝘥?”“𝘛𝘰 𝘦𝘢𝘤𝘩 𝘰𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳?” 𝘐 𝘢𝘴𝘬 𝘪𝘯 𝘴𝘶𝘳𝘱𝘳𝘪𝘴𝘦, 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘩𝘦 𝘭𝘢𝘶𝘨𝘩𝘴. “𝘠𝘦𝘴, 𝘵𝘰 𝘦𝘢𝘤𝘩 𝘰𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳.” 𝘔𝘺 𝘩𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘵 𝘱𝘰𝘶𝘯𝘥𝘴 𝘪𝘯 𝘮𝘺 𝘤𝘩𝘦𝘴𝘵 𝘢𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘰𝘶𝘨𝘩𝘵 𝘰𝘧 𝘮𝘢𝘳𝘳𝘺𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘩𝘪𝘮. “𝘞𝘦 𝘤𝘰𝘶𝘭𝘥 𝘮𝘦𝘦𝘵 𝘪𝘯 𝘗𝘢𝘳𝘪𝘴.”

Ella and Theo have been best friends from a young age, but lose touch as adult life and pursuing dreams takes over. .

Taking the chance both head to Paris hoping the other one turns up without any guarantees

The Paris Pact is a friends to lovers story. It’s a second chance with your first love, in a City that was built for Romance.

Laura Farr has written an addictive story and I really wanted a HEA for these two from the start, they are such likeable characters with huge hearts. The stolen glances, the easy friendship even after 4 years apart and the undeniable chemistry things soon become clear that they are both harbouring strong feelings for each other.

"𝘠𝘰𝘶 𝘮𝘦𝘢𝘯 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘺𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘰 𝘮𝘦, 𝘌𝘭𝘭𝘢. 𝘐 𝘥𝘰𝘯’𝘵 𝘸𝘢𝘯𝘵 𝘵𝘰 𝘭𝘪𝘷𝘦 𝘮𝘺 𝘭𝘪𝘧𝘦 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘪𝘯 𝘪𝘵. 𝘠𝘰𝘶’𝘳𝘦 𝘮𝘺 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘺𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨.”

It’s easy to promise forever when you are consumed by each other, but what happens when you have to go back to real life, to the jobs and life that will keep you apart. Can they fight for what they want?

There is romance, angst, jealousy, twists, turns and heartbreak along the way, making this book a page turner.

A definite summer read and one I will read again and also makes me want to go back to Paris!

Ella and Theo, two best friends that love each other dearly but will not tell the other. They promised to meet in Paris on her 28th birthday and they would get married if still both were single. Neither had met anyone that compared to their best friend, but as Theo is a famous baseball player, he has a woman that will not let him alone. The characters are heartwarming with intense feelings and emotions. The storyline is full of passion, but also surprises, twists, miscommunication, threats and more. Loved the way the two get past all the barriers to find their soul mate still waiting for them.

Quick blurb: on the eve of their prom
night, Ella and Theo made a pact to meet in Paris by Ellas twenty-eighth birthday if they are both still single.

My thoughts and feelings: I absolutely loved and adored the book. It was full of emotion and the perfect blend and sweet and spicy. I fell in love with all of the characters and by the end, I was satisfied. It ended exactly how I had hoped. Although there were a few moments that made me go “oh no!”

I received an advanced reader copy of this book in exchange for a voluntary review.

The Paris Pact had everything I look for in a contemporary romance- I laughed, I cried, and I hoped for a happily ever after ending for Ella and Theo. I loved the friendship and chemistry between Ella and Theo, and thoroughly enjoyed this fun read.

I received a copy of this book from Voracious Readers Only in exchange for an honest review.

I really wanted to like this book, I truly did. One of its dual protagonists plays for the Red Sox, and part of it revolves around a trip to Paris. Baseball, Paris, and romance, how can it go wrong? Well, it didn't go wrong, not really. The book is well written - I liked the juxtaposition between points of view - and the characters are for the most part likeable, which kept me reading. But in the end it just left a bad taste in my mouth.

The Paris Pact follows Ella Fitzgerald (not the singer), a recent transplant to New York City from the Midwest. She's finding it hard to cope with city life and the dating scene, and still pines for her best friend from childhood, Theo Townsend, now a star pitcher for the Boston Red Sox. There's a bit of an unrequited love going on, as she still pines for him even though they haven't talked in half a decade. One drunken evening before Theo left the small town to pursue his dream of pitching in the major leagues, he and Ella had promised each other that if they were both still single when she turned 28 years old, they would meet in Paris under the Eiffel Tower. Now just weeks away from that date, Ella tries to sort out her feelings, in regard to both her work and love lives.

As I mentioned, the book is perfectly fine, if steamy romances are your thing. My biggest issue wasn't so much with all the sex scenes; there were a lot of them, to be sure, but they were well written and didn't skimp from going into details that other novelists might shy away from. The issue I had was with the direction the novel veered off in to. I'll try to refrain from spoilers so bear with me here. The first half of the book was quite sweet; Ella and Theo were dealing with their feelings for each other and finding themselves involved in each other's vastly different lives. It was one of the reasons I stuck with the book. But about halfway through it all become a bit unglued for me. Suffice it to say I won't spoil what happens, but THE ENTIRE THING COULD HAVE BEEN AVOIDED IF THEY HAD BEEN HONEST WITH EACH OTHER AND SIMPLY TALKED THROUGH THEIR FEELINGS HONESTLY!!!! Around the 70% mark I was so frustrated I seriously considered taking a pass on the rest of it. And yes, I do realize that the whole second half of the book exists because of this lack of communication, and that people do refrain from telling loved ones things for their own reasons. I get that. But ooooh, there were times I wanted to throw the book against the wall ... and seeing the book was on my phone, I begrudgingly refrained from doing so.

Perhaps I'm viewing it through my own personal lens. Perhaps the transparency (or lack thereof) of the main characters wouldn't bother most people. I just know it made this a difficult read for me. All told, The Paris Pact is half sweet time-passer, half frustration-inducer. Your mileage may vary.

Six crummy communicators out of ten.

The Paris Pact
Written by: Laura Farr

When two childhood friends make a pact on the worst night of 16 year old Ella Fitzgerald’s life, best friend Theo Townsend promises if they are both still single on the day of Ella’s 28th birthday they will meet in Paris (Ella’s #1 bucket item) at the Eiffel Tower, get married and have babies and a wonderful life.

These two were meant to be together from the beginning! The Eiffel Tower is a symbol of what is truly in the stars for Ella and Theo. They aren’t just friends anymore, stolen glances, words being whispered, touches that stir feelings and kisses are just the beginning of the hot, steamy relationship that begins in The City of Love.

There were issues but it looks like they can be overcome. Until a rival for Theo’s attentions decides to move into their lives and things may get put on hold. Theirs is angst, lots of angst and jealousy and their relationship is put to the ultimate test.

The Paris Pact was an enjoyable one-day read (I read quickly) and at the end you know these two might have waited awhile to be together, but everything was worth it.

A perfect second chance with a feel good HEA in The Paris Pact

This was the first time I have read any books written by Laura Farr & I am glad my first book was The Paris Pact. I have read other similar books whereby the two make a pact & if their both single years in the future they will give the relationship thing a go but The Paris Pact is by far the best written. It provides the backstory, and shows the heat & chemistry Theo & Ella clearly have current day and let me say it's sizzling. But it's not only their smoking hot chemistry, Theo is so sweet & supportive of Ella. And, I won't give any spoilers BUT there is such a huge twist no reader would expect but in the end it shows that these two truly are made for each other, dare I say 'their soulmates'! Definitely recommend reading The Paris Pact, it has all the feel good things to make for a perfectly amazing romance as well as a swoonworthy HEA!
Even though I did receive an advanced review copy of this book, I also purchased the book/read the book with Kindle Unlimited and am voluntarily leaving my own unsolicited opinion with my voluntary review.

I was looking forward to reading this one and really enjoyed Ella and Theo's journey. A childhood to lovers romance story that also had emotional moments that made it a perfect mixture! Loved it!

Ella & Theo have known each other for a long time and made a pact to meet up again when they are 28. Even though they have lost sight of each other and haven't talked in a long while, Paris seems to be the city where maybe they can find each other again. When the time comes, Ella doesn't really have a good feeling about it but life seems to intervene and when she and Theo meet again, their friendship hasn't really changed. Both have had feelings for each other ever since they've been kids but never really gotten around to tell the other. Even though their life's have changed a lot and Theo's now a well known baseball player, their world's couldn't be more farther apart but who knows what Paris may bring for them. Although there's still a lot trying to keep them apart, both seem to no longer be able to deny their feelings for each other and soon everything starts to change. Will they finally find their way to be together?...

The Paris Pact is a beautiful standalone story with a HEA.

Ella had been in love with Theo since she was a young girl, but being her best friend she’s never told him how she really feels.

Remembering a marriage pact they made years ago, Ella is convinced to travel to Paris in the hope that Theo will be waiting for her.

Theo hasn’t forgotten about Ella or the pact they made, but will he be there waiting for her under the Eiffel Tower to tell her how he truly feels?

But things are not as easy as they seem, especially with Theo being a famous sportsman. There are plenty of obstacles heading their way, and Ella will need to decide if overcoming them is worth it.

I loved this book so much! It’s such a sweet story about friendship, longing and hope. Theo and Ella are amazing characters and I really enjoyed their story. The issues that arise are not easy ones to deal with, but Laura addressed each one with a realness that makes you resonate and relate with the characters.

Thoroughly enjoyable

Paris, baseball, and romance, how can you go wrong? I loved the story, it was crazy.
Ella and Theo made a pact as teenagers to meet in Paris for her 28th birthday. Paris is where they finally accepted their true feelings; however it was not easy they had to face so many issues to get to their HEA.

Both main characters were very well written and you definitely felt what they were going through. I loved the support they both received from Summer throughout the whole story.
The book had several love scenes and they were a little to steamy for my personal taste. However, you can easily skim through these scenes and still follow the story. Overall, this is a very engaging story about expressing love and learning how to accept each other's daily lives. I highly recommend this book, especially if you like friends to lovers stories.

The Paris Pact is a childhood friends to lovers romance story that I thoroughly enjoyed reading. I’d describe it as the perfect ‘feel good’ Sunday read – a great storyline, wonderful characters and a couple of twists and turns that were unexpected and added to the story perfectly.

I couldn’t help but adore both Theo and Ella. What isn’t there to love about them? They are good people and I was rooting for them both to find happiness together from the very beginning.

You can guess from the title that we spend some time in Paris and I found the author described all settings throughout the book very well indeed. I appreciated her attention to detail, as it made me feel that I was actually there – which I loved.

The Paris Pact is a heart-warming story and one that I’d recommend to you to read without a second thought. I can’t deny that I would love to read Summer’s story as I’d love to spend more time with her. She’s the kind of friend that everyone should have within their close circle of friends.

This is one of those stories that will hit you with the feels and the swoon factor as friends become so much more. When Ella had a rough night at prom and Theo saved the day, they made a pact that when she turned 28 they would meet in Paris and they would get married if they were both single. Through a series of events and honestly not expecting Theo to show as they lost contact over the years, Ella still hits Paris and waits. But what ensues is Theo showing up, an epic time together, feelings explained and so much more. It was sweet and raw and passionate. I fell in love with these two from the start! Then everything else that gets twisted up is intense to say the least. Farr wove an amazing friends to lovers story with some drama and twists that will keep you on your toes and honestly, not wanting it to end! I couldn’t get enough!

Ella and Theo meet up in Paris as they agreed twelve years ago with a pact to marry if they were still single. I enjoyed reading about all the places they went to. But Theo is being linked with a actress who has found a way to blackmail him into doing her bidding. Ella and Theo have issues with jealousy and trust, jumping to conclusions, and arguing with each other several times in the book. He wants her to work as a physical therapist for his team and thinks she can just abandon her job and life in NY to be with him and gets mad when she is seen with an ex. Ella is fed up with the actress who keeps embellishing on her fake relationship with Theo with set ups and sexy pictures. There are plenty of intense moments in this paparazzi drama filled steamy romance.

Ella and Theo. Two best friends who made a pact that by the time they are 28, if they are still single, they will meet back in Paris, and get married. Ella didn't think Theo would hold up his end of the bargain. After all, the pact was made when these two were so young. But to her surprise, Theo didn't forget.

Theo knew he had to have Ella as his one and only for the rest of his life. When the chance to meet up again at 28 in Paris, the city of love, Theo jumps at the chance, and is ready to prove to Ella that he is the only man she will ever need.

This was my first time reading this author, but it won't be my last. I absolutely loved this best friends turned into lovers romance, and look forward to more from this author!

When best friends, Ella and Theo make a pact to meet under the Eiffel Tower and marry at twenty-eight neither had any clue as to what their futures would hold. Now it’s twelve years later and Ella is waiting in Paris hoping Theo didn’t forget their pact.
Theo has always held his best friend Ella near to his heart comparing all women to her. Will she be waiting for him?
In this heart warming romance Theo and Ella quickly learn that a forever love comes with perks and serious consequences. I was captivated by the story and the depth of characters. An enjoyable read for the first day of summer!

I usually stay away from longer books as they often contain fluff and are drawn out unnecessarily. This is not the case, GREAT LONG READ. Wonderful best friends to lovers covering over 20 years but with a well thought out plot and characters. A bit of the grass is greener and nothing chanced nothing gained lesson.

Highly recommend this book. Would be great for a trip and really sucks you in and hate when it ends. Hoping to see books about Joel and Summer (not necessarily as a couple) in future books as they were interesting support characters.

A marriage pact by two best friends involving meeting at the Eiffel Tower? I had to check it out! The book is adorable to read and I adored Theo and Ella together. While I'll admit the love scenes were rather overly detailed for my personal taste/comfort, but the story was easy to follow while skimming past those parts. Things started very light and fluffy, but things escalate FAST once Theo joins the story. There's a reason I flew through the book in just over a day!

The Paris Pact is the first book that I have read by Laura Farr. A simple love story that is sabotaged by both Ella’s and Theo’s fear of rejection. They make a pact to meet in Paris ten years later on Ella’ 30th birthdayI. t is at this point that they are confronted with the reality they must make their feelings known or continue to live in fear. Ella and Theo face conflicts that prove love is not always easy.
A heart warming love story.

Simply Irresistible!!! This book is by far one of my all time favorites now. It was like something out of a movie and a cinderella story all combined. Ella and Theo’s story just melted my heart. The pact they made as teenagers was a pact I had made once but theirs was so much better and just kept getting better!!! They were both amazing people with the biggest hearts and it made their story just dance across the pages!!! So incredibly wonderful!!!

Ella and Theo's love story is a classic tale of best friends finally coming together. The author fully developed both characters without overusing cliches'. I also felt as though neither character settled for the other. As is what often happens in "pact" trope novels. Even if Ella and Theo didn't have the pact to use on each other, I feel they would have eventually come together. Maybe with just more baggage. Throw this in your bag, it's a beautiful vacation read.

This book had me hooked from the first page. I could not put it down. I finished it in one night. I loved Ella’s point of view and how relatable she was. This book was very relatable with pop culture and world event references. It had great twists and the reactions of characters were believable. I highly recommend this book. This is a must read.

This is my first read from this author and I really enjoyed this book. I loved that Theo and Ella found their way back to each other. They clearly belonged together from the very beginning of the book but both didn’t want to ruin their relationship just incase the other didn’t feel the same way. It was cute watching both slowly come to the realization that they belonged together.
