The story of two brothers, Tom and Jack, from their youthful days at a Catholic boarding school in France, to Oxford and digs in the city, and finally back in France on the front lines as leuitenant officers.

Tom and Jack are inseparable, filling the other's lacks and admiring each other's abilities. While very different from each other they are two halves making a whole. So when adventurous Jack makes endless plans to go to China or somewhere exciting, Tom worries that he'll be lost from him forever, but eventually has to accept the possibility and enjoy the time they have left.

Just as Tom is making it in the city and Jack is waiting on tickets to S Africa, war is declared. Nothing will ever be the same. Once again, the brothers find themselves serving side by side. They face sights neither will ever forget. The one thing that will help see a man through is the love of a woman. The only problem is, both men have fallen for the same one.

Can the love of brothers stand the most trying of tests?

I really loved this. It's full of heart and honesty and I was drawn in right from the beginning. There's nothing I would change. I found it perfect.
