The story starts with an accurate description of the shopping panic when the pandemic first broke out. It was a very ugly scene where good manners flew out the window as people pushed and shoved to get that last roll of t-paper. Then we notice a strange observer, overdressed in four layers of clothing, asking himself why his father sent him “here” and to look for a girl with a lotus tattoo – like the one who just ran into him. But she is nervous that he grabbed her hand to steady her and she pushes him away. When the shelf behind him collapses, she loses herself in the aisles. He can’t find her anywhere. An announcement that the store is closing causes everyone to rush to the cashiers with their over-full carts. He remembers what his father told him: he has only 8 hours to find the girl with the lotus tattoo. He must find the woman who formulated the vaccine for the virus – the Savior! Or the world will plunge into darkness.
This is the beginning of an exciting story that feels all too real. It involves time travel as the people of the future need to find the person who can prevent a worse disaster. It’s a very short book, so if you don’t object to re-living what we have gone through this past year, this story is well-written and will veer off in a direction that will be able to be seen as fiction rather than our recent memories. Grab your copy and see what you think of it. Or you may find it somewhat disturbing, in which case, just stop reading.
