A man shot dead in the street. An old town hero returned. A dark secret revealed.
And a hitman with a list.
When an old friend from Sheriff Elven Hallie’s past returns, it should be a cheerful reunion. But when the bodies start turning up, Elven has more than a few questions.
Hunter Wallace is everything that Elven tries to be, but greater. Better looking, a faster draw, and most of all, isn’t hated for being a Hallie.
Being called out on his conflict of interest, Elven needs the help of his deputy, Madds, to help him wade through this one.
But Madds hasn’t been acting herself. Lack of sleep, excessive use of force, and more than a little paranoid. Madds has her own demons to deal with.
Demons that come with secrets for Elven to dig up.
Can he get over his suspicions of those closest to him and work the case? Or will digging get him into more trouble as the bodies continue to pile up around him?

EXCELLENT READS 📚
Dive right into this book and find yourself Drifting off in the countryside on the backside of some gorgeous mountains.
The descriptions of the surroundings throughout the books definitely gave you an excellent feel for setting in the story. I seriously thought I knew where the ending was going But I was totally wrong!
Elven definitely doesn't fit with the average idea of a country cop but he's most assuredly a good man. There is enough mystery & Intrigue to keep you till the end. Plus you'll want to head right on to the next book in the series.
Maybe 3.5. My feelings toward characters really changed as the story progressed. Still really dislike Mads. I really hope Elven does not get romantically involved with her- but seems like that is where this is headed.
I'm giving this book, Hunted in the Holler 5 out of 5 stars for its storyline which was totally unpredictable. The book was action-packed with murder and mayhem thrown in to keep the reader's attention. Seems like there's never a dull moment in the tiny town of Dupray, West Virginia. Sheriff Eleven Hallie has a hit-man on the loose in his town with a list to complete. As the bodies start piling up Elven is forced to seek answers elsewhere as to whom he's up against. And when that list contains his only daughter, they combine forces to take him down. Once you start this book its hard to put it down as you get sucked into the story.
this series has a lot of twists with a couple of characters, just when I think I figure it out it slides somewhere else. Elven and Madds are back with Tank and Johnnie in the 3rd installment of Drew Strickland's Elven Hallie series...and this time a paid killer is stalking people in Elven's town. but when the killer locks sights on Penny Elven takes steps to stop him once and for all if he has too. Then he decides to help Madds with her stalker problem as well...things are heating up in DuPree County and I'm not sure where Madds is going to fall when the fall out comes
4.25⭐️ Hunted in the Holler caught me off-guard, kept me guessing, and left me wondering what is going to happen in the backwoods of Duprey, West Virginia. Elven, the sheriff, finds himself & his deputies trying to solve several seemingly unrelated murders. Madds finds herself jumpy because she believes her past has come for her when she thought she had escaped. The twists and turns in this book hooked me from the start and now I have to wait for the next one!
How can one Sheriff in a large county with only three deputies solve so many cases while outside elements are working against him??? For the answer to this question, you will have to read these books. Drew Strickland has brought together in these books, a mismatched group of people to solve crimes and find the murderers. Great imagination and page turning writing make for a fantastic read!
Elven Hallie sure has his hands full in this book. Growing up in the little town that he now protects, secrets are kept and when they begin to be revealed, there’s a domino effect. A fast paced read, this third book in the series answers some questions but leaves so many for future revelations.
Good read. Characters are a very good part of the story. The sheriff's department, Hollowed group and the bad guys. The authors good story teller makes things plausible. With so many people getting killed one would think the state might get involved. Couldn't put this down.
The is a fast paced and easy to read book. The characters are an integral part of the story and add to the twists and turns of the plot. There is a dynamic between good and evil, but the line is not a straight path, it does quite a few curves and twists. Looking forward to the next in the series.
This is a great mystery. It keeps you in suspense until the very end. Very good thriller. Can't wait for the next book to come out. I highly recommend this book.
Book #3, read rapid fire after 1 & 2. My concerns over Madds and Johnny carried over. Especially Madds very strange character, especially motivation and back-story. But - like the others, it is generally good with some unique characters- even with the series being lumpy at times.
Well. This one got seriously dark (as if the first two books in the series weren't). It's a good story. Very good. But let's just say everyone's moral compass doesn't point to true north. Vengeance has a serious hold on this tale.
Uses F word and other profanity. Narrator voice is on the softer side (softer pitch) so I needed to turn the volume higher. Held my interest. At times there were people who were crude. There is also violence for those who shy away from that. I ended up listening to the whole series up to book 7. Waiting for it to be released on audio. 2.0 audio
Enjoyed this audiobook! This is a fun series with interesting characters. Maybe I am not that astute at figuring out mysteries, but again I was stumped and surprised by the revelation of who was hiring the contract killer.
Drew Strickland is a good writer he knows a lot about his subjects, always a good thing. All three of 1st books say (person THAT did)....people are not a that, they are a WHO. i hate that mistake
Another delightfully enigmatic conundrum that shall keep even the most astute detective scratching t
Elvin finds himself tangled in yet another perplexing predicament, wandering through the metaphorical fog of uncertainty like a bewildered detective without a clue.
Definitely did not disappoint my expectations. I love all these recurring characters. And this was the best antagonist ever! Can’t wait to start Book Four!
An interesting story. It seems that I get introduced to many mystery series by reading one of the books later in the series and I did it again with this book. I liked the main characters. I do want to go back and read the first two books to see what they are like.
