I suggest reading the Salvation Series by Corinne Michaels before reading books in the Society, but it is not a requirement.

Key Points for this story in the Salvation Society Collection:
- Romantic Suspense
- Female Fighter Pilot
- Navy SEAL
- CW: PTSD, Suicide, Torture, Trauma Recovery
- Salvation Series connection is Mark, Jackson, Natalie, and Liam

I kind of stumbled upon Jennifer Rebecca’s Claire Goodnite series a while back and pretty much fell in love with her writing then and there. I’ve devoured each of her subsequent books. I love romantic suspense books, and I love how she’s able to combine the suspense, the emotional/angsty edge, pretty steamy scenes, yet also throws in some (sometimes dark) humor. And a hefty number of Jennifer Rebecca’s books have had interconnected characters. In Trap, not only did she include Jackson from the Salvation Society, but she also gave us MacKenzie (Mack), who is Ryan Black’s (from her Presidential Affair series) sister.

Don’t be alarmed by the interconnected characters thing and let it stop you from reading this book. Trap is a complete standalone novel. But for those of us that are fans of Jennifer Rebecca’s writing, it’s always fun to see her characters from other series books pop in.

In Trap, we meet Kyle, a SEAL, and Mack, a marine F-35 pilot. He’s enlisted; she’s an officer. Those relationships are highly frowned upon in the military, even if they are serving in separate branches. They are both confident, no-nonsense people. And, of course, they have chemistry in spades. So, what Mack thinks is a fling leading up to her next deployment, Kyle has other plans. He’s at a crossroads in his career. He knows his body can’t take the rigors of his current job much longer, so he’s considering getting out of the Navy. When an old friend offers him an opportunity too good to pass up, it feels serendipitous. With nothing but Mack’s deployment in the way, all they have to do is hang on until she returns home, and their future can begin.

I love that Jennifer Rebecca gives us a kickass female pilot. Kyle is awesome and not just a side piece in this book, and I loved him too. But Mack stole the show, in my opinion. I mean, none of Jennifer Rebecca’s female main characters are ever shrinking violets, but Mack kicks it up a notch. Which makes the tragedy she suffers that much more emotional and angsty. I’m the wife of a pilot. He flew on fighter aircraft for several years in the backseat (think Goose from Top Gun). He is a charter pilot now that he’s retired from active duty. Jennifer Rebecca seriously put me through my worst nightmare when my husband deployed on the F-15 Strike Eagle. But do I hate her for it? Nope! Because despite the fact that Mack’s story was hard to digest at times, there was so much emotion to it that I simply couldn’t put this book down. And when I finally reached the end, it literally had me pondering the what-ifs. What if doing something I loved—absolutely lived for—was utterly destroyed in me? Would I even be able to come back from it? Any book that leaves us pondering long after we’ve finished it is definitely a good book.

NICUnurse’s Rating: Trap is another 5-star read from author Jennifer Rebecca!

Trap: A Salvation Society Novel
(The Salvation Society)
Written by Jennifer Rebecca

This is not just my first Jennifer Rebecca novel but I think my first military read.

MacKenzie Black was a Marine Corps pilot to her flying was her freedom.
Kyle Garrett was a Navy SEAL; both jobs would be hard on a relationship. Both were aware of all the things that could come between them, they promised to just take it slow and to try to make it work. There were also life events that could end their relationship, like one retiring from the service and the other one slated for a mission. They were determined to try to make it work until the only thing that could have happened to end it happened.

I wondered if I would have a problem with this being a military romance, in fact it became about love and support and the ability to lean on a partner and that is easy to relate to. Mack and Kyle’s attraction was quick, hot and steamy but you could feel the respect they each had for one another as their relationship grew. Jennifer Rebecca gave readers two very strong characters to begin with but each of them continued to grow throughout the story, it was nice to see how they developed from the beginning to the end of the story.

Trap had what readers look for, chemistry, well developed characters, good times, difficult partings, angst, humor and a test that could break a relationship.
It was a book that showed me how a good Military romance could be written and I am happy that I took opportunity to read it and learn a little more about life in the military.

I know that there is a lot of insta business going on in Trap, but I still LOVED IT HARD, and never wanted it to end. Poor SEAL Kyle, he wanted something different than the women who always threw themselves at SEALs, so he went to a new bar with his buddy & fellow teammate to spy the most beautiful woman he had ever laid eyes on. He struts over to hit on her, and let's just say, he definitely got egg on his face very quickly while I died laughing about it all. The object of his awkward situation is Marine pilot Mack, one of the few female fighter pilots so totally bada**. Luckily, he mans up & goes back to her to fix things & the rest was pretty much history after that. I'm not saying it was an easy journey because it wasn't since Mack has some things she's holding close to the vest, and could end up in her head a lot. I will say they generated a ton of heat in all of their sexy activites, but then there came the point when she deployed & things went sideways. So yeah, that's all I'm saying about that, and in order to see how it all panned out, you know what to do! HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND TO ALL!

This book reminded me why I love a good military romance. This story had the alpha hero, the heroine that gave as good as she got, and the suspense that keeps the reader on their toes.

This was my first Jennifer Rebecca book. This will not be my last. Her writing really allows the reader to become immersed in the story. She tied her characters into Corinne’s world seamlessly.

The best part of this story is the role reversal. Usually, it is the hero who is deployed while the heroine keeps the home fires burning. In TRAP Mackenzie, the heroine was the one being deloyed while Kyle stayed state side. Let’s face it, both of these characters where badasses. He is a SEAL and she is a Captain in the Marines who pilots F-35s. It made this story that much juicier. How were they going to let down their walls? How was Kyle going to break down Mackenzie’s walls and keep them down? I loved every minute of this book. I also loved visiting old friends like Dreamboat and Jackson. It made this book that much sweeter.

This is a fast paced military romance. First time reading this author and I really enjoyed this story of a female pilot and a seal that have a immediate attraction. Forbidden love that has to overcome lies, betrayal and there own insecurities.

This is emotional adventure that will leave you wanting more from this author.

Kyle is the strength that brings her back to life.

“One day, I’m going to need you to care for me. Will you when I need you?”

“And some days, we’re going to need to care for each other,” I add. “But we always need to love each other.

What do you ok u get when you mix a bad ass Navy Seal and a kick ass marine pilot....perfection! Kyle Garrett walks into a dive bar to see the most beautiful woman he’s ever seen sitting at the bar. Little does he know, he’s about to meet his match! MacKenzie Black is a force to be reckoned with. One night of passion turns into a weekend. Neither Kyle or MacKenzie can walk away from each other, but they also don’t want to admit how fast they have both fallen. Kyle learns to live a civilian life working for Cole Securities, while the love of his life is on deployment. I love how Mack is the strong alpha now but when circumstances flip, Kyle is becomes her savior. While the story portrays their relationship as two strong characters, it really shows the give and take of relationships. Live is a give and take, it’s about being strong when the other needs you. This story really depicts true love!

Trap was an amazing story of survival, love, friendship, and trust. Kyle is a Navy Seal who is ready to do something different. Mack is a Marine Pilot who is so bada@@. I loved her immediately with her no-hold bar and her sassy attitude. When these two meet they do have sparks, but for Mack, she's about to deploy and knows that she can't have a relationship with someone else. But Kyle will fight for them both and does, however when something happens to Mack, it's Kyle who will be there. But sometimes a bad thing can make people do stupid stuff. Can these work through all the issues and be together. Can love fix it all?

This is my first time reading this author's work...but it will NOT be my last! As part of the Salvation Society books, there are some of our favorite characters mentioned. But if you have not read those original series, you will be fine reading this book. Mack and Kyle have some sizzling chemistry from their first meeting and it never goes away. With both of them being in the military, there are some obstacles in their way but that provides just the right amount of angst to keep you turning the pages. Great read that is easy and fast to get through!

This was such an awesome read. The writing and story line was phenomenal I totally fell in love with Mack and Kyle but mainly Mack for being a kick butt Marine. For a second there, I wanted to smack Kyle for giving up so easily but he wised up and was strong for Mack when she needed him. I love seeing a little bit of Ryan in this story but I’m hoping Sean gets his own book.

I absolutely loved this story! Mack and Tarzan meet in a local bar. Kyle (Tarzan) is infatuated from the moment he lays eyes on MacKenzie. Sparks fly and one thing leads to another...until tragedy strikes. You don’t want to miss this story of bravery and love!

This story is sooo good!
Kyle and Mack meet in a bar, where he promptly lies to try and capture her attention..and fails miserably lol..but he is able to turn things around..After that they are inseparable until Mack has to go on deployment..and this is where the story gets complicated, emotional and pulse pounding.
I really enjoyed this story and I loved how Kyle stepped up for Mack.
The end made me very emotional and happy for sure!

Kyle and Mackenzie were interesting characters and I especially loved her job as a pilot. They had a connection from their first meeting, but there were things that could be difficult for them to overcome.

I definitely felt like this was a great fit in the Salvation Society! This is my first Jennifer Rebecca book and I am definitely interested in checking out some of her backlist.

Thank you to the author for providing an ARC for an honest review.

LOVED! Jennifer has always written characters that make me love them, but I think Mack might be my new favorite! I loved that we get to see our heroine be strong & alpha, while also being feminine. Mack & Kyle were amazing with them and I enjoyed their journey and how they learned to be together in some rather trying times. 5 stars!!

I really enjoyed this book. It's part of the Salvation Society Collection, based on the Salvation series by Corinne Michaels. Each book can be read as a standalone. This book features Kyle, a seal in the military and the fierce and independent Mack, who is a marine F-35 pilot. They meet in a bar one night and their first encounter starts out a bit rocky but Kyle manages to turn it around and it's quite obvious that there is something between the two of them from the very beginning. The only problem is that both of them are in the military and even though they are from different fields in the military, it is still frowned upon for them to be in a relationship. What starts out as a secret relationship, quickly becomes more than either Kyle or Mack was expecting. It took a lot for Mack's walls to come down but Kyle was always really supportive with her and Kyle for his part is such a caring man. He literally melted my heart throughout this book. He is the definition of what a book boyfriend should be. This novel has twists and turns that I didn't see coming and what Mack went through in this book was devastating but Kyle really stood up for her and their relationship and fought for their relationship. I highly recommend checking out this book. I can't wait to read other books in the collection.

In an effort to read new-to-me authors I will be meeting at upcoming book signings, I selected this book by new-to-me author Jennifer Rebecca. It is also the first book I have read from Corinne Michael's Salvation Society world. This is written in first person from an alternating dual POV.

There was so much to love about this book. I absolutely adored the fact that though Kyle is a big and tough SEAL, Mack is the officer who goes on deployment. I love the way this author described both sides of their relationship. I love how Kyle helps Mack back from the brink, and I loved how her friends called Kyle out when he wants to give up. I am amazed at how much is packed into this relatively short book. The characters are extremely well-developed. Their story is meaty with angst, passion, romance, humor, and friendship. I love the commitments they make to each other and the understanding they have for each other. My words in this review are not nearly enough to do this one justice. I could not put it down. If you love military romance, you NEED to read this book. I know this will not be my last book by this author. I am seriously looking forward to meeting her in Dallas soon.

Trap is a Salvation Society novel by author Jennifer Rebecca. It’s the perfect blend of sweet, sexy, humorous and emotional romance. It’s a compelling love story and amazingly well-written with the characters that are complex, vulnerable yet resilient and fierce.

Female Marine - Fighter Pilot
Navy SEAL
Mark, Jackson, Natalie, and Liam connection
Romantic suspense
Military romance
Forbidden

Kyle and Mack are simply perfect. I loved that we can see the growth of the characters through the book. I was moved by them and their story. Their connection was effortless, their chemistry off the charts. They both had demons they needed to confront. I was rooting for them from the moment they interacted. They stole my heart. Separately they are beautiful mess, together they are perfectly imperfect. There has always been an undeniable attraction and sparks fly whenever they are near each other or together. Watching their relationship grow and develop into something beautiful was really amazing.

This story is a great addition to this amazing series and is Kyle and Mackenzie’s story. Kyle is a navy seal and Mack is one of the few female fighter pilots, and they meet in a bar. The chemistry between these two is combustible and undeniable, and Mack certainly makes Kyle work for her attention. When Kyle is entering civilian life to join a security company, Mack is deployed, but can their love survive the distance and challenges thrown in their path? This is a well written flawless story which is entertaining, steamy, and with witty banter, friendships, loyalty, passion, suspense, and danger, which all leads to an all-consuming and intriguing page turner. I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend.

Really enjoyed this story, it had action, romance and was full of feels. It’s starts of straight away with Mackenzie being taken and her wishing she told Kyle she loved him before she dies. You then go back to when they both met and how their relationship grew quickly surprising them both. Mackenzie is a pilot and Kyle is a SEAL, they’re not meant to date but they do. They have to navigate dating with deployment deadlines and getting used to being with someone. It then switches back to the present where she’s captured and doesn’t think she’s making it back home.

It was a lovely story and the characters were great.

This was a phenomenal read to me! I loved the story and character build. I love a good alpha make but pair it with a strong as hell heroin and I'm sold!! I loved how Mach was strong which she needed to be in her career but was also able to be feminine and vulnerable with Kyle! As always its great seeing the boys again! Just go grab this and read it! You won't be disappointed!!

From the moment that Kyle saw Mack in a pub he knew that she special and even though he was embarrassed after their first interaction he wasn’t about to just walk away. Mack is a pilot for the Marines who is fierce independent and isn’t afraid to speak her mind.

Neither was looking for love or a relationship, but their hearts had other ideas even when Kyle transitioned into civilian life and Mack was deployed. When life gives them a challenge that changes everything, they prove that as long as they have each other and the love they share they can overcome anything.

This was my first Jennifer Rebecca novel, and I was actually pleasantly surprised how much I enjoyed this novel. It was such an easy read. I loved seeing a bad ass female lead. When I agreed to read this novel I wasn't really sure what I was in for, but I was so happy with a military romance novel. Mackenzie Black a Marine Corps pilot paired perfectly with Navy Seal, Kyle Garrett. They made connection the moment they laid eyes on each other, but their connection was put through the test with Mackenzie's deployment. These two are so relatable to so many, and I am so glad that I picked this novel up.
