Oliver knows that his bubbles are magic. They take him on wonderful journeys to faraway places. Then one day it seems that the bubbles have lost their power... was the magic really inside Oliver all along?
Isabel Otter is a children's book editor and writer. She grew up in rural Herefordshire and is happiest climbing mountains in muddy boots. Isabel loves weaving stories and writing about the world around her.
Bubbles have been a love of mine from way back in time. Everything about them feels special to me. From the words you use to describe them to even the word itself! Stop for minute and say bubble. Doesn’t it just bounce its way into the world?
For me, bubbles add and reflect so much beauty and happiness. Just the way they glide, dance, and swirl through the air captivates me. Bubbles can whisk up, up and away in a hurry with the wind. Or stay with you to slowly fade and POP! Their unpredictability adds to their joy! Have you ever come across bubbles in an unexpected place? The way they can snap you out of auto pilot is dazzling. I love it! The simple joy of blowing, chasing, catching, and popping.
All of that JOY and magic is here in this book. I gasped right out loud when I saw the cover art. It’s perfect! Without even a glance inside, I scooped it up, brought it home, and read, flipped, and lingered in the pages. The BUBBLES! are beautiful. Big and small. In clusters or alone. The bubbles and the boy who creates them float from page to page. And the colors! The rainbow of colors in each and every little globe of wonder is gorgeous. The bubbles, art, and words all inspire you to follow along.
Follow the trail of bubbles! Read this book. A beautiful book that bubbles with joy.
For a children’s book this one isn’t the best. The illustrations are gorgeous but the story? There’s not enough of one to keep the attention of my 4 year old and he loves stories and illustrations but this is the first book he asked me to stop reading as he was bored! Beautiful to look at but does not really capture the imagination
Ser for meg ett kunst og håndverk og skriveprosjekt om minner og fantasi rundt denne, helt fantastisk på det å drømme seg litt bort. Ser for meg at vi også blåser bobler og henger opp utstilling mot sommeren.
