The tension escalates as Chiyuki faces a critical decision. She may need to persuade her father to bow to the inevitable and shut down Mille Neige. It has been Chiyuki's dream to walk the Paris Runways as a Mille Neige talent, but now that is a distant dream.
The art style remains consistently good. Allowing readers to immerse themselves fully in the characters’ struggles and triumphs is the strength of the art and this title.
This series is almost over and you can tell. Things are escalating, character arcs are coming full circle, and the plot is racing towards and end point. Is it pulling it off? Well... sort of. I'm still disappointed at how the arc has taken a turn for the worse, the characters and settings feel less defined and it bothers me. Even the big emotional moments in this volume don't hit as hard because there's less weight to them. For a series that's run on glamour, expression, and confidence, to suddenly turn away from that betrays a lot of what I loved about it.
In a series that's all about these two characters becoming the next big thing and working together to accomplish your dreams, a lot of the intention god muddied here. Chiyuki reaches a big emotional breaking point but now everything is in Ikuto's hands and she doesn't get to live in her moment because the plot of the series is rushing to a big climax. Everyone is getting into their big keikakus, making their next big leap, and while we're leaving the model showcase until the end even the design is being pushed out of the way so the characters can explain the stakes. I'd rather they show the stakes, let the art show off, it's the big emotional climax of some long-awaited arcs coming to a close and they're so preoccupied trying to pull off a grand finale that the characters don't get to breathe.
It's rushed! It's hard to remember why I loved this series in the first place! It still has its great moments, and I still had a lot of fun seeing these characters I love grow, but I'm glad this is the final arc and I don't have to watch the ending play out for years to come.
I know this is supposed to be the approaching climax of the series and high drama, but the whole time I'm thinking "I just want to see Ikuto make clothes, already. "
