Viscera Americana

Rate this book
Viscera Americana is the debut poetry chapbook by Abigail Swoboda. A Temple University MFA candidate, their chapbook is a recipe for the family. A bowl that is eaten in a city studio apartment or a cicada-filled field. Pennsylvania is our home and so is this chapbook. Digest and return for seconds.

"Cayenne pepper, paprika, & dried oregano live

in the alcove above the drone of the dishwasher;

sometimes, I hide there, too, mouth open

wide like the vault of the sky-blue sky,

precious in the way that blue things always are."

I appreciate the work of small presses. The handmade chapbook had an excellent feel. Even when the poetry doesn't quite do it for me, I'm happy to support this independent creative spirit.
