This book was a thrill to read. You can tell the author put a lot of heart and soul into its creation and history. A fine tale for those who want a quick read with suspense and the supernatural concepts.

So I was very fortunate to receive a copy of this, after a miraculous and by chance convo where we discovered we loved similar themes - horror, the gothic, WITCHES. And am I glad I did! Firstly, I'm not one for e-books, and neither do I finish them so soon unless I'm totally engrossed. I was consumed in his world of witch-craft, trials, and sheer evilness of some of the characters (the main being an author helped my empathy towards him!) that I finished it in a matter of hours. There's something poetic about Diego's writing, that propels you to read faster. It has a real potential to be an even longer novel.

My favourite parts were the flashbacks, you can tell the author did extensive research, and those sections really shined. For me, the rating is between a 4 and a 5, as there are some edits and detailed proofreading to be done so I can't give it a perfect score at this stage. But this didn't hinder my enjoyable reading experience. If you love gothic horror, Dracula, spells and magic, this will be for you.

I definitely can't wait to check out more of the author's work in the future!

I really enjoyed the book. I LOVE reading about witches and enjoy when the author takes me back and forth in time.
This book manages to do that. In one chapter I’m in the present, and on the next, I’m back in time learning about the past and the witches of Lesdar. Those were my favorite chapters.

The book is easy to understand and the chapters are not that long. The story is veery intriguing.

In this case, I felt this is a plot-driven book. Even though I felt for Eric, it was the action and strange occurances which kept me reading. Poor Eric, one misfortune after another.

The author did a great job describing the place. Lesdar, a town I would never want to visit, I tell you this much. I really loved the witches, and would have wanted much more backstory and more of those chapters from the past.

My favorite part was the final battle. I think Durán did an amazing job crafting the action and fight between them. It was realistic (in what can be considered realistic in a world of witches, I mean), and kept me flying through those pages.

I didn’t feel the romantic relationship, though, maybe because there was not much space for the author to develop it, since the book is short, but it didn’t feel wrong either.

The ending was solid, and I hope there is another book or sequel. Maybe he can write another book inspired on those witches, like a prequel to this story. I would read it.

The reason for losing a star, is because during the first quarter of the book, the story was rushed. I was craving to read what would happen after some tension, and devour some dialogue between the character, but instead, the narration took that magic away from me. I’m happy that as I kept going, there was more dialogue and action and the narration took a step back and the story and characters were able to bloom. So you won’t be disappointed if you keep reading.

Overall, this is a great book about some nasty and evil witches and the power of their witchcraft that remained alive for years.
What’s happening to the MC? Who are these witches?

If you wanna dig deep, and visit the town of Lesdar to figure it out, I recommend you pick up a copy of this book. If you are a sucker for witches and magic like me, you won’t be disappointed.
