From REMINGTON KANE, the author of the Young Guns YEAR FIVE - A Tanner NovelIn 2008, after learning that Joe Pullo was targeted to be killed, Tanner returns to New York City. Tanner soon discovers that the motive behind the attack on Pullo was more complicated than he thought.
Remington Kane is an American author that writes action-packed thrillers. The author might be unfamiliar to some people because Remington Kane is actually a pseudonym for Donald Wells.
Donald Wells has garnered a reputation for writing darker and somewhat serious novels about killers. The author was born in New Jersey. He never really left and has since made a home there. Like most of his peers, Donald Wells was an avid reader as a child.
He spent many an hour devouring every book he came across. And it wasn’t long before he began to yearn for the chance to write. Like many aspiring authors, Donald Wells knew he had the capacity to tell stories. However, he was a little hesitant to venture into such uncharted waters, not only because he didn’t know where to start with regards to writing a book but also because he didn’t have confidence in his own ability to produce compelling fiction.
Again, like most notable authors, Donald meandered about for a while. Rather than going into publishing the first chance he got, Donald tried his hand at various odd jobs. He worked as an insurance salesman, a Real Estate Sales person, and even a Retail manager.
The jobs, though seemingly meaningless in the grand scheme of things, did wonders for the author’s writing capabilities. Whether he was driving trucks or cleaning floors, Donald gained insight into the workings of the world.
He met unexpected people and heard their intriguing stories. He came across numerous strange encounters and even participated in some of them. He essentially dipped into so many unique aspects of life that it came as no surprise that he had more than enough stories rattling around his head when it finally came time to write his first novel.
Not that many authors can claim to have been offered a chance to act as bodyguard to a drug dealer. Since getting his first book sold, though, Donald has finally settled in his career. The author loves writing novels and there is nothing he else he would rather be doing. The fact that he has found a way to make money out of his passion makes him one of the luckier individuals in the world.
By the time Donald Wells began writing as Remington Kane, he had already become established as a novelist with numerous thrillers under his name. However, writing as Remington practically took over his life.
This is because Donald has achieved more success writing as Remington Kane than he did producing novels under his real name. Kane is best known for the Tanner series of novels. Tanner is a hit man who accepts a job to take out a mob boss.
When he is betrayed and thrown into prison, Tanner thinks of little else besides getting revenge. And once he finally gets his freedom, the hit man becomes a one man army, engaging in a brutal way against a crime organization known as the Conglomerate.
Each new book sees Tanner raising the stakes by finding a new target that will sting the Conglomerate in ways they couldn’t possibly fathom.
Remington Kane has been praised for the Tanner novels because Tanner is such a refreshing hero. The protagonist is so average physically, devoid of the exaggerated traits that most action heroes seem to bear. If not for his natural fighting and survival instincts, one would be hard pressed to tell Tanner apart from any other ordinary man on the street.
Another journey back in time as we visit Tanner’s adventure-filled past. In NYC, a cartel of crooked cops have created their own mob and Tanner’s buddy, Joe Pullo, is a threat to their leader. When you mess with one of Tanner’s friends, you’re asking for (guaranteed) trouble. Starting from the ground up Tanner takes care of business in his own special way.
I get notified each time Remington Kane drops a new book. Immediately my schedule is cleared, the scene set and the FUN begins. Nothing, Absolutely Nothing, stands in my way as I spend the next few delightful hours devouring my newest treasure - I have my priorities! I'm 67 and a devout reader of all kinds of fiction and non-fiction. The damndest thing is in all my years reading I've Never met a writer who can make me clear my calendar the way this guy does. It's just amazing the joy he brings me in those few hours. I Can Not Believe that Tanner hasn't been made into a mega-hit movie or a TV series - but he will, eventually.
Tanner's younger days, the 5th year of him being Tanner. He is in New York to help his friend Joe Pullo. Someone has tried to grab Joe multiple times and Tanner is going to help him figure out who is out to get him. Tanner also runs into trouble of his own that he has to take care of. This book has Tanner going against dirty cops, a lot of dirty cops. Can Tanner find the top dirty cop before he finds Joe Pullo? Lots of action & gun fights. Keeps you reading all night long to finish the story and leaves you looking forward to the next Tanner book. I received an ARC.
Tanner hears Pullo needs his help so he shows up uninvited.
Someone has been trying to kill Pullo and when Tanner hears about it he shows up to help his friend. The mob boss thinks he should be able to handle it on his own but is thankful Tanner is there when everything goes wrong and he is accused of murder. Fantastic story. Keeps you on your toes from start to finish. I’m hooked!
Another book to fill in some of the blank years of Tanner. Lots of action. Large body count. There is not much character development because by now we all know who Tanner is and how he feels and acts. In this case, the same with Pullo. It’s always good to see the bad guys get what they deserve. Recommended.
A trip into the past where Tanner travels to Nee York to help out Joe.
Joe Pollulo is single out to be taken out but none knows who sent the guys trying to grab Joe. Of course Joe's too fast & kills his would be kidnappers before they can even put a hand on him. Tanner comes to town to offer his help. And now the fun begins - Tanner stylle!!
As always from Remington Kane a excellent read, action packed, One of the numerous books on the Tanner series that exciting from the first page on. many three am nights because of the constant action and intrigue. In the end Tanner sustains a wound and man’s human nature prevails leaving Tanner to stay longer in N.Y. before going back to Las Vegas.
I read this book out of order by accident, but I couldn’t not read it. This is a wonderful book and it shows the growth of Tanner and what he’s willing to go through and do for his friends as usual. There is a lot of excitement and shooting and blackmailing and you name it, another great book to read!
I’ve read them all and like other reviewers here, whatever I’m currently reading, immediately moves to the back burner until the latest Tanner novel is devoured. We need to get back to Henry and his progress to become the next Tanner!
Another tale about how the relationship between Tanner & Joe Pullo became how strong it is, solidified by the battles fought with & for the other together.
Without a doubt, my favorite series. Wonderful characters and relationships. Story lines are always full of action and mystery. Just wish Amazon did a better job of cataloging what readers have read……
A flash back to how Joe and Tanner have built a good relationship in the early days before the days of Henry and his wife and children ect and how far Tanner and friends have progressed .
As always, Remington Kane does it again! I love the Tanner Series and i feel it is one of the best Series written. Tanner guarantees to keep you on edge as he gets with Joe Pullo and the suspense begins. Someone is trying to kill Joe but they don't know Tanner and how resilient and he is. I am always excited when another Tanner book is ready!
