It’s 1987 and Claire fears she’s losing her treasured tea shop to some of the latest health and convenience trends. With Halloween around the corner, she must bring her numbers into the black or risk closing her store by the end of the year.
Seeing his wife struggle leaves Richard’s heart steeped in sadness as Claire refuses every offer of help. He takes one last courageous stand with Earl Claire, his wife’s favourite tea, but Claire loves his idea as much as the thought of drinking a cup of witch’s brew.
Trick or Tea is another charming, stand-alone, short story prequel to Lori Wolf-Heffner’s Tea Shop for Two, the first book in her sweet romance series, Love on Belmont.
Lori Wolf-Heffner is the author of the young adult series Between Worlds and the sweet romance series Love on Belmont. She was an inaugural member of the Canadian National Tap Team, wrote and submitted a Star Trek novel in her teens (it was rejected—she needed an agent), and spent one day twice in Luxembourg and 15 minutes once in Switzerland. She can still do cartwheels.
Pauline is the mascot for the Toronto Peregrines but she had to sign a non-disclosure agreement so her family does not even know what she actually does. Her mom owns Clairs's Tea Shop and when she got hurt Pauline had to help out Todd, the new hire. I found it interesting learning about Todd and also learning about what Pauline had to do as the team mascot performer. This book also addressed bullying, ballet, amd being gay. I received an advance copy of this book and I willingly chose to write an honest review.
Trick or Tea by Lori Wolf-Heffner is a short story about tea and people. Clair's dream was to own and operate a tea shop because of her love of tea and the wonderful memories of afternoon tea. Her shop was doing well, but with changes in culture such as "tea bags", Clair is feeling that she will lose her precious shop. Her husband, her friends and her daughters step in to help.
This is a short, sweet story that you will enjoy reading. The characters will have you feeling that they are your friends. I received a copy of this prequel from the author and I always review every book that I read. This is a quick read and very enjoyable.
This was another great short story prequel to Tea Shop for Two. I enjoyed this book because it is placed twenty years after Richard and Claire has gotten together. I was happy to see they came up with ideas to help out the shop and Claire was able to get out of her slump.
