A country singer rediscovers his passion for music when he meets a spunky small town girl who lives her life to the fullest. Too bad she's his best friend's ex.
Now he'd better forget his racing pulse so he can get a photograph back from her that could ruin his career.
The trouble is that spending time with her feels like a good old fashioned love song, and he can't get that stupid tune out of his head... or out of his heart.
USA TODAY Bestselling Author, Stephanie Fowers loves bringing stories to life, and depending on her latest madcap ideas will do it through suspense, fantasy, historical, contemporary, and of course... romance, romance, romance. Presently, she lives in Salt Lake where she's living the life of the starving artist.
This series set in a small town in Virginia has firmly planted itself deep in my heart and soul. I loved this story about country singer, River, and photographer, Liv. With past relationship complications and past mistakes haunting their instant attraction, River and Liv have to dig deep to discover what matters and what's worth fighting for.
I love the way the characters of this town watch out for one another and the way the magic of romance sprinkles around like floating cherry or apple blossoms. Although River and Liv have some complications, I adored them and their story. The connections between other books in the series brought a feeling of familiarity, but most of all, I loved the music, the inspiration, and the hope. Fowers breathes life into this book, allowing the reader to escape into this charming town for a time.
Learning about history or facts about different things is always more enjoyable to me when they're embedded in fiction. It was fascinating to learn about film development, but that's not all that developed through the lens of a camera. Such an enjoyable addition to this series!
Isn't the cover on this book pretty? I loved that is goes perfectly with the story.
Wowza, River and Liv have some sparking chemistry! I loved all the kissy kissing. It was swoony fun. I also loved that Liv was a photographer and brought out emotion through her pictures. It was the perfect way to bring her into River's world, or, maybe more accurately, River into her world.
The story progresses nicely, with some minor bumps in the road and an ex you love to hate. I enjoyed the feeling of family and community and the two little boys who helped everything feel natural and brought a few smiles too. I sure hope there are more stories to be had in this small town- it sure feels like there will be. (fingers crossed)

I absolutely loved River and Liv's story. River Mackenzie was a country superstar until he was caught up in the "Hollywood" scene of drugs, drinking and women. He had a gift with music until he turned to self destructive measures that almost killed him. After a very serious accident, his sister, Emily, begged him to go to rehab and get clean and back on track.
After his stint in rehab, he went to the small town of Harvest Springs for a PR clean up and a concert to kick off the "new" River Mackenzie. On his first day in town, he met his soulmate. He knew instantly that she would be his saving grace. Unfortunately, she was his manager's ex-wife.
This is an emotional journey for both River and Liv in learning to trust and love and feeling like they deserved a happy ever after ending to their story. Liv's ex, West, had done a number on her. I loved the fierceness that Liv had in trying to protect her family and I also loved that River was just as determined to help her see she was worth the effort
This was a clean, wholesome and beautiful story of true love and determination to do what is right and find truth. I was given an arc copy of this book and I willingly offer my honest review.
I’ve been enjoying all of the books in the Harvest Ranch series very much but this one resonated with me in particular and it’s one of my favorites. The main characters River, a famous country music star, and Liv, a single mother to two young boys, were so appealing and they had great chemistry. I was touched by their conversation about why River’s latest songs didn’t have as much of his soul in them. And I was so happy for them when they each managed to deal with their personal fears of not being good enough, lovable enough, smart enough, and just enough in general. The side characters were a hoot especially Liz’s father and there were several hilarious scenes where I laughed out loud. Highly recommend! I was given a free copy of the book and this voluntary review contains my honest opinions.
River is trying to start over fresh after a car accident wakes him up to how his life has turned. So he heads to Harvest Ranch in the beautiful spring time to perform a concert for the town following cleanup. Liv on the other hand is there, trying to become a photographer, and dealing with her troubled past while raising her kids.
I found River's Song absolutely adorable! Stephanie Fowers did such a lovely job showing each character and tying them all together. It wasn't very predictable like you see in some romance novels (yes, some parts were easy to guess, but not the most of it). Liv and River both fit so well into the Harvest Ranch series and hearing their story was wonderful. This story had sweet romance, humor, love songs, new beginnings, and a lot of fun.
One of my favorite things about River's Song is that it included so many things that brought my mind back to memories of dating, college, and all of my crazy adventures with friends. They play Hostage during it, and all I have to say is the entire scene with it flooded me with memories of that game during college in a small town with a lot of empty land to be hidden at. If you guys haven't played that game, read this book then get out there any play, I promise you'll enjoy it (unless being abandoned in the middle of nowhere, scares you...then maybe don't play it.)
This book was so much fun to read. It was romantic, emotional, and inspirational. River was a sexy, country singer and one of the sexy, cowboy Slade brothers, who lived in Harvest Ranch, Virginia. Liv lived next door to the Slade ranch. She was a sweet mother of two boys and she also was a photographer. West, a malicious, lying, conniving man, was her ex-husband and also one of the Slade brothers.
I was pulled right into the story and all of the drama between West and Liv, and even West and River, who were brothers, I really enjoyed Liv's dad, known as Pops. He was funny and scary at the same time. I am surprised he let West marry his daughter and even more surprised West just left his marriage.
I enjoyed the Slade brothers because they were always looking out for Liv and her children. They even did some matchmaking This is a book that I really enjoyed reading and would recommend to my friends to read along with the other books in the series. I received an advance copy of this book and I willingly chose to write an honest review.
Books that are about people who have a broken past and can find love get me every time. River and Liv are both broken by past experiences. Their story reminds me that peace and happiness can come after the storm.
I loved reading Liv and River’s story! It was great to see how things turned out and how sometimes second chances don’t look like what we expect. This story has a fun Cinderella vibe that I really enjoyed. It’s a fun, quick read and I highly recommend it!
This is book 12 in the Harvest Ranch series. Technically some of the books could be read as stand alone books, but most of them have characters from the other books, so I suggest reading them in order. This honestly might be my favorite so far in the series. Who hasn’t had a past they were ashamed of, or an ex that ruined them for future mates? River is a country singer with a bad past, who is trying to turn things around. During a community helping event he thinks a photographer has gotten a bad photo of him. As he’s flirting with her trying to convince her to delete it, his manager walks up…who just happens to be her ex husband. What?!?!? What are the chances? But River doesn’t care, he was attracted and has to know her. This roller coaster of a story will take you through ALL the emotions, but you won’t want to stop turning the pages. I read this in one sitting. Will Liv & River get a chance at happiness, or will the ex ruin that? You’ll have to read to find out!
Stephanie Fowers has done it again! Oh my gosh, this book is amazing! Once I started, I could absolutely not put the book down. And River & Liv? So cute! I was chuckling over their antics, eating up their swoon-worthy kisses, and so stinkin' fired up and indignant on both their behalfs over the weasely West and his manipulations. Clearly, I was truly drawn into the story. I loved the main story, but also all the side characters. Liv's family is a hoot! I smell a lot of new stories brewing off the Bridges siblings and the other Slade siblings, and I can't wait to read them ALL.
This pair has so much baggage to unpack in order to have even a fighting chance. River and Liv have an unexpected connection in common, and it’s one that could make a mess of what’s brewing between them. You see, Liv’s ex is River’s current manager. A situation that’s guaranteed to be uncomfortable for everyone. Especially when some people are playing fast and loose with the truth. I had so much fun watching as these two fall for one another, and Liv’s family made for the best comedic foils in the story. Now I kind of want to jump forward in the series to read more about the rest of the family.
River's Song: Spring Flings and Engagement Rings" by Stephanie Fowers provided an enchanting romance that was indeed a pleasure to read. I found myself enamored with River right alongside the heroine. Her decision to distance herself from him at a pivotal juncture in the narrative instead of trusting him with the dilemma she faced was perplexing, but to avoid giving away any spoilers, I will leave it at that.
Fowers masterfully weaves small-town and large-family dynamics into this beautifully written and meticulously edited narrative. Despite this being my initial encounter with Fowers' work, given the high-quality storytelling, I can confidently predict it will not be my last.
This is exactly what the subtitle claims: a spring romance.
And it deals with haunting pasts, addiction, trust, change, survival, abandonment, faith, betrayal, and loyalty bringing Liv and River to life along with a whole cast of hometown characters.
I felt the conflicts, confusion, and hard choices.
Yes, there are pranks and laughs, fun and wit! Yes, there is chemistry and kissing! In abundance.
This is a fun romance that hits home and feels real.
River's Song By Stephanie Fowers Main Characters: River and Liv I voluntarily and honestly reviewed this book without bias or persuasion from the author. 5 out of 5 stars This is a clean, sweet romance. River is a country singer who is looking to re-start his career after a stint in rehab. Olivia is a photographer who is divorced with 1 child. I enjoyed her ex's family but of course not her ex. They both have been through a lot in their life and I loved seeing them get their HEA ending.
Awe, River and Liv just pull at your heartstrings. So much going on and having her ex as his manager just makes things even crazier.
Liv hasn't been pulled towards any man since her ex left. She truly enjoys River and he seems to want her and the boys too. When her ex finds out, he decides to threaten to take the boys away from her. Will she get a happily ever after? ~
River is trying to become a better person and heads to Harvest Ranch to show that he’s changed. There he finds Olivia, who gives him the inspiration he needs to write new songs with soul. Through a series of unintelligent choices and believing the one person no one should believe, they finally figure things out. I loved the ending and the epilogue! I can’t wait to read the next book!
I loved this emotional and heartwarming story that centers around country star River Mackenzie who retreats to Harvest Ranch to launch a comeback tour and meets photographer Liv Bridges, a sweet single mom who happens to be his music manager's ex. I knew as soon as I started reading I wouldn't be able to put this captivating read down and I really didn't want it to end when I got to the last page. This may be the first book I have read by Stephanie Fowers but it definitely won't be the last. If you like Hallmark style romance, you will love "River's Song".
I enjoyed this book. I love the Harvest Ranch series so much. In River's Song there is that everyone wants in a happily ever after. A character working on redemption, a lovely character who deserves more and the villian working evil in the background. Will read more from this author.
I received an ARC of this book, but it does not reflect on my opinion and my review.
This is another great installment of the Harvest Ranch series. It is fun to have some of the same characters keep showing up in other books. Liv is a great mom to two little boys. River is a singer who has hit a low spot in his career. This is a story of second chances. It was a hard book to put down.
I loved this story of redemption and points of view, but it always frustrates me when someone takes o e person's word over another when you know both people. I enjoyed the family interaction, especially Pops, and the photography insights were really interesting. Great chemistry and story, clean romance, and I enjoyed the references to other books in the series. Definitely recommend.
River's story is wonderful. He meets a wonderful photographer who he thinks took a harmful picture which Liv said she would give to him when she developed it. Liv has two sons and has been single moming it for a long while. I love the fact that River is fixing his life and making better choices. This story just shows all should have second chances and they are what you make them. I love the way this story is setup which made the story flow well and allow the story read so easily.
After going to rehab, country singer River only wants to straighten his life again. Live is fighting for her family, her orchard and she is tired to do all it alone. Can Live and River find love, happiness in Harvest Ranch? He is in this little town to have his first come back concert and she has to take some pictures. They feel an instant connections but her past will come back to thread their relationship. A sweet love story.
I'm rounding up because it had this bit of magic that I couldn't help but fall in love. With the town. With the rockstar. With the story. Another great addition to this small town series that can be completely read alone.
If you enjoy Hallmark movies you are going to enjoy this series! Stephanie did a wonderful job with this story of redemption. Can't wait to see what the rest of the series brings!
I received an ARC from the author and all opinions are my own.
I received a free copy to review: what a delightful read! Liv and River's story ticked all the boxes with humour, action, suspense, and lots of swoony moments! I loved that Stephanie highlighted how we can only truly be fulfilled in turning our gaze to God. A highly recommended read.
