A fresh start is exactly what Ivy Collins has in mind when she packs up her truck and makes her move to Ghosttown. The ambitious twenty-five-year-old artist can’t wait to launch her new life, enhance her successful career, rekindle her relationship with her estranged grandfather, and settle into small-town life. Her initiation comes in the form of a vehicle accident, where she almost takes out one of Ghosttown’s own. It’s not the best first impression, and the situation only gets worse when the town finds out she’s the granddaughter of their most despised resident.
Caleb “Dobbs” Dobson has come into his own, living his best life as the last remaining bachelor of the Ghosttown Riders Motorcycle Club. A loyal and devoted brother to the club and their women, he’s found peace in the little town among his MC family. He may have his share of regrets, but Dobbs is content to settle into bachelorhood. That is until he clashes head on with a moving truck that nearly ends his life on a blind curve just outside town. Dobbs is out for blood until he gets a look at the incompetent driver. He doesn’t know whether to strangle her or drag her back to his bed.
Things get even more complicated when Ivy’s seedy past raises its head, shining a light on her connection to the club’s most dangerous enemy. An unforgiving and unwelcoming town, a near death experience, and a perilous secret turns what could have been an idyllic life in Ghosttown into an obstacle course. With possibly deadly consequences.
Amelia Shea writes contemporary romance. She released her debut novel in 2015, and has followed her passion for series romance ever since. Her writing style includes a little sweet, a little sassy and lots of steam. She loves building stories with settings that become comfortable and familiar, and developing characters who feel real, and though they may be flawed, they learn and grow, and finally deserve a happy ending. When she is not writing, she is obsessed with reading (all genres although she does has a soft spot for romance), coffee (it's more of an addiction but she prefers obsession) and perfecting her "y'all" (just a northern girl living in the south).
The Player: Dobbs and Ivy. Oh Dobbs. He's a boy trapped in a man's body and this is the book where he grows up and falls in love. Kind of like Gage, I didn't hate him but I didn't love him. He's also made mistakes in the past, but I like that there's no attempt to just ignore them for his book. Ivy's another heroine who gets the short end of the stick with the town and her storyline with her grandfather, the crotchety old Arnett, was surprisingly touching as well and also brought me to tears. I think it's the old men in this series that really got me hooked. Go figure.
Story: ⭐⭐⭐⭐1\2 Trope: enemies to lovers Angst: 😱😱1\2 Smexy: 🔥🔥
I have really enjoyed all of these books! The Player was a fantastic enemies to lovers with definitely a more original storyline. Really fast paced with a good amount of action, but not as angsty as some of the other books. Love how Amelia set up for the next series and I can't wait to dive in!
As with the other books in this series this won't be the only time I read this book. This book with Dobbs and Ivy seemed to answer the burning question of why Arnett was so mean. Never thought I would feel anything for him but dislike. This book changed it all. But of course you'll have to read it to find all this out. As always Amelia Shea has woven a story you can't seem to put down. I read it at work, cooking I just couldn't put it down. It's awesome is all I can I say. As the others you fall in love with Dobbs and Ivy. So worth the time and money.
I never want this series to end! I’ve watched Dobbs throughout the last 7 books and just love him. He is the bestest of friends, the loyal brother, the rascal with the ladies and the consummate bachelor until…..
Well hello Ivy! She one upped Vada as the most hated lady in Ghosttown. Thank goodness Dobbs didn’t let a relative ruin his soulmate connections. This series builds upon each brother in the MC and I’ve loved every moment. Five splendid ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Really enjoyed it. Ivys career was an interesting take. The plot with Rogue that was.supposedly such a big deal was kinda lame but it seems it is a segue into the next series. The editing was also better.
I really like Ivy from the start and felt bad for how she met Dobbs. She wasn't malicious in her actions, apologized like crazy, yet he seemed to hold that against her. And sadly that was how things seem to go with the rest of the town. I know everyone hates the old man, he does suck, but why should Ivy being his granddaughter be held against her, especially when she is nothing like him and went out of her way to be nice to others. I was especially pissed when Kase was such a colossal dick to her and was glad that Dobbs called him out on things.
Once Dobbs realized that Ivy wasn't mean or bad, I liked these 2 together. Ivy was a saint for how she dealt with the club because time and time again the men and women were horrible to her. I wasn't sure if/when that would change. I loved Ivy's speech at the town meeting, it was very on point and it called out every person there and what an ass they were to her. Nothing like public shame to start to change things.
I was a bit worried towards the end when Ivy's past looked like it was about to ruin everything she was building in her present. I hated what Ivy went through, hated more that she was used as a pawn and learned just what this little action was about.
In the end, everything ended well, Ivy and Dobbs are happy, Ivy has a new place to show off her work and her life is looking so much better all around.
I wasn’t the biggest Dobbs fan (it’s hard to forget that scene with the clubwhore in Bailey’s book) but he seemed to be all in with Ivy, once he stopped fighting his feelings and being a jerk. Ivy was likable but their dynamic was too similar to the other couples in this series- the quirky outsider and the angry, begrudging biker.
Something that bugged me was the author’s vacillation on Dobbs “player” persona. At one point his past relations are portrayed as many, yet meaningless-
“Dobbs spread out his arms. “I’ve fucked around a lot, Ivy. Not gonna lie to you. I’ve been single for a long time.” Dobbs paused, glancing around the room. “Been with a lot of women. But I make it known I’m not looking for anything more than a night or two.”
Then we get this scene with his favorite club girl, Rose -
‘She was a club girl with higher status than most, and Dobbs had spent a lot of time with her. A lot. For a brief stint, he’d even considered taking it a step further. It was a fleeting moment. Rose was a great woman and would make someone happy someday. Just not him.”
Several times Dobbs commented on how great Rose was, how beautiful.. it just seemed totally unnecessary.
Also, the drama reveal with the Underground was pretty lame.
Trini was awesome and her friendship with Dobbs (and with Ivy) was a highlight for me.
This has been an epic series to read, each book an emotiona book of feels, well for me anyway. The way the heroine was always treated and how they dealt with it always astounded me. These females are in their own right stoic and even though they are just characters in a book i really felt for these females. Ivy has finally come home to Ghosttown, but before she gets there she manages to have an accident with Dobbs, starting off a not so good meeting. Her Grandfather is Arrnet the one man all the town seem to hate, and now they all seem to hate Ivy as well, and things get worse when he puts her name forward in voting to be mayor. But its Dobbs who captures Ivys attention, at first he is rude, especially when she makes him a gift which he cant see its value his mouth gets him into trouble, but there relationship soon is blazing and things turn when Dobbs takes her back when one of the ladies shoots her mouth off and if that isnts so bad, her past come back to haunt her.
He could be an idiot when it comes to women, but he slowly figures it out. I loved Ivy for him, but I sure did feel bad for Ivy as she’s the most gated person in town because she’s the granddaughter of the nasty mean old man, Arnett.
Speaking of Arnett, I’m so glad we could get into why he’s so awful and honestly- Amelia did a good job at catching me off guard in a gut wrenching moment for him that truly made me weep. So I thank her for writing that tender moment.
I loved that Dobbs and Ivy don’t play around with their relationship. He claims her and doesn’t care what the club thinks, especially Kase since we all know Kase is the biggest A-hole in the club.
I liked Trini and Dobbs friendship and I loved seeing East appearing frequently in town at the clubhouse.
This book was the perfect end to the Ghosttown Riders MC series. Dobbs and Ivy were a hoot. I loved this book so much, possibly my favourite of the series. At two separate parts of the book I was in tears, one of laughter and the other of sadnesses. The obvious appearance of all the brothers and their significant others knitted the story together well. Kase wash is usual charming self which I have come to love and respect, what I did not expect was the ladies of the brothers to be as mean as they were, given how each of them had experienced the wrath of the club. That was disappointing, but worked out in the long run. One thing this author does especially well is bring focus to the characters for her next book. Luckily for me the first book in the Ghosttown Riders MC East is already available, so Trini and Roan...you’re up!! Oh Rourke is gonna lose it 😂😂
They meet in a most dangerous way Ivy almost killed Dobbs. The author brought their characters to life in away that wanted you to keep turning to next page. The shock for me was funding out who she was related to the most hated man in Ghosttown. This caused Ivy to be also the most hated. But Dobbs he fell for her. Ivy wanted to leave the past in the past but when it came down to a show down she picked Dobbs.
What I loved about this book was Ivy showed us why her grandfather was so grumpy, also when young and naive she made a mistake and learn just like Dobbs learn from his mistake with Bailey. Ivy also showed the town that we should not be judge and hated for others behavior.
I’m glad to be reading the series. These books are entertaining. I really enjoy the characters and the brotherhood. Even with the struggles between the clubs the members have each other’s back. This book is about Ivy a smart and naive woman who is trying to figure life out. The male lead is Dobbs. He is different in this book, personality wise, but the storyline alludes to this book being a few years later. I like that all the main characters are present and have a valid part in each other’s lives. The female leads are a tight group too. Although the ladies take a while to warm up to Ivy, they eventually do. Ivy is full of surprises. Read On!
It was ok. I hated how the town and club treated her. I also didn’t really connect with them as a couple but I did appreciate how Dobbs took up for her, especially against Kase and Macy who are the two I can’t stand the most!!! Also, I felt like the whole artist with ties to the underworld trope was simply stupid. It felt like a reach and I could’ve done without the entire story since that’s all the author could come up with. Arnett being an asshole because his wife dies decades ago really doesn’t explain or excuse his behavior for the last 8 books. I just like the author was lacking in story telling with this one and could’ve just left it alone.
I am in love love love with this series. Twist turns in an MC world that I can’t get enough of. This has an awesome group of characters. Our couple has an interesting backstory especially the heroine. She has a heart of gold and is no wilting flower. I feel this storyline follows her well. Our hero I already know. Yep you need to read this series to experience all. He wasn’t a bad guy before but you do feel he redeems himself from some earlier mistakes. Sooo good. OMG you the details to the crank old guy too. Sob. Yes he is still a turd but you at least know why.
Another great read, i appreciate the length of the books, so many authors do short books for a high price, these are long reads, nothing is rushed in the story. Still editing errors, but nothing left hanging which is another plus. The only issue i had was the author changing the vehicle - its a truck then its a suv then its a car. So what is it? All three vehicles are completely different so make a decision and stick with it. Characters are the kind you love or hate but then the nxt book you change from hate back to love. Still not sure I like Kase at all but he has his moments. Glad these are KU but have bought a couple of my favorites.
I couldn't put this book down until I reached the happily ever after ending! I loved the story so much that I skipped watching my current favorite show and crocheting to finish it. I adore Dobbs and Ivy. It was so wonderful to read about Dobbs finally finding the woman who would end his role as a player. This book is spicy and romantic. I even loved getting to know Arnett better (the old grouch!). I do whole heartedly recommend this book. In fact I recommend reading he entire series. Amelia Shea has joined my list of "read whatever she writes" authors.
Love this series so much and this book didn't disappoint. Ivy and Dobbs meet with a bang or rather a crash. Her arrival in Ghosttown is not well received once people realise who's granddaughter she is. (I won't spoil it but it was good to get some of his history). Throw in Ivy's connection to the underground, the uncertain ties with East and it's an explosive read. Dobbs starts of his usual brash self but once he see's how Ivy is being treated he gets his head out of his a#@se. So looking forward to Roans and Trini at the end of the month.
Really enjoying this small town MC Romance series. Dobbs and Ivy’s story made room to give one of the local residents a voice at the same time as introducing a couple of the characters from another series, The Underground.
I loved how Ivy stood up for herself while keeping her dignity. Her speech at the ‘town hall’(?) was awesome and a game changer for her.
Ivy’s heritage/gift from her grandmother was moving. A wonderful generational tradition of ensuring independence for Ivy and future recipients.
The slow build up happening in this series is what has me hooked.
Amelia Shea is one of my “must read everything” authors. Her books are a guilty pleasure without a stitch of guilt. The Player did not disappoint! We’ve always known Dobbs was hot, but daamn!!!! Monogamy makes him so much hotter! Another steamy read that makes you want more of Ghostown! The chemistry between Dobbs and Ivy is electric! Don’t miss out on this series!
Another awesome addition to this series. I have come to love this series. This story with Dodds and Ivy has a mystery, a crazy ole grandpa, a hot biker and a hot chick who can drive. All the bikers from both MC are in this story and make it so entertaining. There is even a touch of the underground in this one. Recommend you read this one. HEA, no cheating. No cliffhanger.
4 1/2 stars. I almost didn’t read this one—I didn’t find the blurb interesting. Ended up being one of my favorites from this series—first book still my favorite. I loved the tension between the h and everyone. I wish a simple “sorry I’m an asshole” didn’t solve the issues so quickly, but what can you do? The suspense and reasoning at the end seemed a little bit of a stretch for me, or it probably would have been a solid 5 stars. I am glad I found this series. Great bunch of characters.
Wow I think this story was one of my very favorites. I had always wondered why Arnett was so snarky to people and now we know, but it still made my heart hurt for him. Ivy is a great influence for him though. Once Dobbs got over the accident with Ivy, he couldn't stop thinking about her and he stopped his playboy ways. A few twist and turns throughout, but Amelia did a fantastic job with this story. Happy reading.
Ivy was not well received in the home town of her grandfather, the grumpy Arnett. She finds herself attracted to the known playboy of the club but will he return that attraction. We see another side of the old man Arnett as well and it gives the reader insights into the way he is. Things turn around for Ivy and Dobbs but her past pops up to test their future.
I was concerned that this story would feel similar to Gage and Trista's story as Gage and Dobbs always felt kinda interchangeable to me. Luckily that was not the case and I actually think this was better. I love Ivy and Arnett's complicated relationship. Dobbs the man child was pushed to grow up and Ivy was endearing. I thought Ivy's story would be about her relationship with her father and step mother and how that impacted her. The Rouge story line felt a little out of left field.

I just finished reading and am as in love with the members of ghosttown as I was with the last book. This one is just as amazing as all the rest are. If you’re ready for a wonderful, amazing place to escape, pick up the ghosttown series and lose yourself in it :-)
I loved the book!!! I read it in one day and it was wonderful!!! I just could not put it down. I loved Dobb's story. I won't put in the exciting parts and surprising parts because it would not be fair. BUT for all you wonderful readers who has not read this book yet you will LOVE it!!!! Relax and enjoy it!
Loved this book and I’m so happy that Dobbs got his happy ending. I was worried for awhile that he wasn’t going to get a book and a HEA. Ivy is a lot of fun, kookiness, and sweetness rolled into one character and she perfectly suited Dobbs. I would have liked a bit more danger and drama, but it was all more than enough to make this a 5 star read.
This was really good. I loved Ivy and how she handled her grandfather and the entire town especially in the town meeting. Both Dobbs and Ivy were really good together. It looks like club East is earning their respect back and that makes for another great series. Love this entire group.
I’m so sad this series is over. Arnette…. Loved how it ended. Trey ….. loved how he made an appearance!! I was on pins and needles with Ivy. Each book ….. I couldn’t put them down. Each book made you feel apart of Ghosttown. I will be looking for other books by Amelia Shea!!! Thank you for such a great distraction for a bit from life!!!!
Amazing!!!!! What else can I say??? Ivy and Dobbs are the stars of the 8th Ghosttown Riders MC. I really hope this series is not over. I love this MC and the people of Ghosttown. I’m hoping their stories are not over yet. These 2 are so incredibly perfect for each other. Fantastic storyline, super spicy NSFW scenes and a sweet HEA. LOVED it!!!!
