From an outside perspective, Talya’s got it all—loving grandparents, a doting boyfriend, looks, and popularity. But things aren’t always as they seem. Talya feels trapped in a relationship with her domineering boyfriend. All that changes the day she literally runs into Liam, the man who just happens to be her new gym teacher.

Liam has his eye on her for reasons Talya knows nothing about. Liam’s the beta of the Northwoods Pack, the largest and most powerful pack in the country. He’s finally found his mate, and he has no plans of letting her go. He just has to convince her of that first., which ends up being harder than he thought.

When danger arrives in the form of his enemy, Liam makes the rash decision to take Talya away from everything she knows. Talya begins experiencing dreams that are unexplainable. She soon comes to understand that she has an important role to play. War is brewing between the wolves and the vampires, and it’s Talya’s job to prepare the wolves for what’s coming. But that might end up costing her more than she’s willing to pay.

A lot of the same issues as book one.

But add on a weird romance between a 17 year old high school student and a 21-22 year old man trying to treat her like an adult.

Plus, a lot of stuff in this conflicted the story. Why didn’t the girls ex know her smell if he was a wolf, everybody else did. Why didn’t Liam know her ex was a wolf when they can scent other supernaturals? Why didn’t the ex know Liam was one? Why could Liam break his bones and put him in a coma, etc receiving no harm himself, if he was the equivalent level Wolf? Lots of stuff that makes no sense.

One minute Talya is a normal teenager, with a-typical problems, walking to class. The next she runs into a hard chest. The chest belonging to Liam. This encounter doesn't help her problems. In fact, it exasebates them. It doesn't solve the problem of expensive medicine for her Grandma that she works too many hours to obtain. Liam complicates this too. It does start her life on a violent path, that if she survives, just might lead to love.

Lots of errors in this book. Easy to ignore, so don't get too caught up in them. Alec, my favorite wolf to hate makes a few cameos. They don't really make sense for most part, with the exception of why he is still part of the story. Again, left some rather big storylines dangling. Did the wolves properly dispose of the vampire creator body? Okay, that's the only one that matters. However, would have liked to see Brittany and Stephanie get a beat down.

Wow! I just cannot believe how this series fell apart from book one to book two. "The Dreamer" is the story of a high school student Talya who is destined to be the mate of Liam, the Beta of the Northwoods Pack. She is 17 and Liam shows up at her school as a teacher of self defense. This is where the first of many problems with this book starts.

In Liam's quest to gain Talya's trust he does things that would never be tolerated in any school district in the U.S. He punches another student and he agrees to go to her house for dinner to meet her grandparents in order to date her. A student is not allowed to date a Teacher!!!!! This would be reported to Children's Protective services.

When Talya's ex boyfriend attacks her and she in turn attacks him back, the author states she is expelled for 3 days. Expulsion means that a student can no longer attend the school in the district. The proper term she should have used was suspended. Clearly, she did not do her research. Then, when Brandon (Talya's ex) and his father show up at Liam's house with the police to take Talya away no one thought to check with her grandparents? Brandon and his father are not her parents or guardians and have no authority to take Talya with them.

If the inaccuracies weren't enough, the author rushes scenes so that we get several days of dream walking with little to no references to the here and now. I am not going to lie, I almost gave up on this read about 67% into it because the plot was so poorly laid out. I am so disappointed that a series that started with such promise diminished until this sequel. However, I am going to go on to book 3 and see if it gets any better. If not, I will not continue with this series. As always, read it for yourself and decide.

Talya is a seventeen year old high school senior. She has excellent grades. Lives with her grandparents, Has a best friend named Sage. Is dating the football quarterback. Sounds ideal? Here’s the rub, her parents are dead in a car crash, her grandmother need medication that is expensive so Talya works all the hours she can at the local diner to help out. He boyfriend is a bully who often hits her and is domineering. His name is Brandon, he makes unrealistic demands on her.. She also has dreams about wolves she can’t understand.
There is a new teacher at school. His name is Liam and he is teaching the girls self defense. Liam is actually a wolf shifters who is here to see Talya since she is a dreamer and is needed to interpret her dreams about the shifters in her Northwood pack. Little did he realize she was his mate. He also did no know she would help the wolves battle the vampires that were invading the world creating more evil.

This sequel in the “Wolves of the Northwoods” series is just as gripping as the first book.

The main character of this story is very different from “The Finder” protagonist, but her journey is no less compelling. If you’re a girl’s girl, you’ll love Talya and her super sweet love interest!

My favorite part of this book, however, was how it expanded the worldbuilding in the series tenfold. The magic Manney crafts is truly unique.

Keep an eye out for my review of the rest of the series. Spoiler: it only gets better from here:)

Not quite 2 stars & only because I did finish the book.
This book has so many problems with it (plot holes, things not matching up to what book one led as a path for wolf behavior, to things matching what was said earlier in the book to what happens later in the book [contradictions], then to making the characters less and less likable at the end) that it really hurt the book as a whole. I put this down numerous times and almost DNF at 80%, cause it just got frustrating to read. Also book ones FMC only found one of the 4 girls -from this book, as they stumbled on book 3’s FMC at the same place as this books FMC, that only leaves 1 more girl to find, wow, such great thought went into the “finder” character, made the author seem not so bright after all the contradictions in this book & not working the deemed powers to accentuate the character, instead of making her look less. I now wish I hadn’t even read book one, let alone this (book 2). I definitely won’t be continuing with the series.

At my age (62), life is way too short & my time is too important to force myself to read a book I'm not enjoying, especially when there are so many other books out there waiting to be read.

🎵…Travel The World On The Seven Seas🎵

WolvesNortwoods2;4.5 ⭐️

More of this world unfolds. We have humans, wolves and vampires, oh my.

Talya has a creepy boyfriend - the quarterback of the football team. He orders her around, and has two buddies ever present. He has a body of muscle and the behavior of a toddler. Her grandparents don’t like him, but his spiteful nature, keeps Talya close.

Until Liam shows up. It takes way too long to find out they’re in North Carolina.

Talya has a good friend, Sage, who helps her navigate the shark infested waters of high school. But the real problem is Brandon, and his father’s influence. Wolves are all over, but few of the humans seem to know.

This book pits the wolves against the vampires as an ages old conflict…in fact, wolves were created to oppose vampires and protect humans. The wolves have fallen away from their primary calling; this book looks at their call to arms.

The age/maturity imbalance continues, but the girls do hold their own.

Continuation of the Northwoods Pack series

Book 2 tells the story of Liam, the pack beta, and Talya, a human with special abilities. Talya is a Dreamer; she can hear and share messages from the creator of the werewolves, as well as access and interpret others' dreams for intelligence. In Book 2, war with the vampires begins. (This is definitely not a standalone. You will need to have read Book 1 for context and Book 2 ends with open questions.)

I gave this 3 stars because much of the first half of the book seems repetitive with Book 1. There's an innocent working class heroine who's the victim of abuse - in this case from a high school boyfriend. She's focused on working to make ends meet. He experiences insta-love because she's his mate. He rescues/ kidnaps her to protect her from danger.

There's a little darkness as Talya's mission is to locate a series of vampire sites being used to experiment on human girls.

Closed door romance; just kissing.

blaring inconsistencies

I liked that Liam attempted to be a little more transparent with Talya, especially after witnessing the challenges Garrett had because of his failure to communicate. I liked the plot. I liked that more information was given in this book. Alec, Emma's step brother, keeps making appearances, but at least we have a motive. We just do not know for certain where he got his initial info and hatred. There is also a trend of the heroine being in an abusive domestic relationship. I like that the girls are able to gain the courage to get away. I liked seeing the other characters again. I did like several things, BUT, this story was laden with inconsistencies that had me backpedaling multiple times to check my understanding. There were a couple of encounters that screamed unrealistic...even for a paranormal read. With that being said, I am curious about Sage and her trauma. I also wonder about the upcoming challenges.

The Finder located The Dreamer

Talya lives with her grandparents because her parents died in a car accident when she was a baby. Talya is a senior in high school and works at a diner to help pay for her grandma's medication. For the past 3 years, Tayla has had an overly controlling brute of a boyfriend. Thankfully she has Sage as her best friend. Liam is sent by his pack to find her because her special powers has made her a target. Things get heated when Brandon threatens Liam and mistreated Tayla. Worse though is when the Vampires show up and try to kidnap Tayla. In trying to get to safety, Tayla is badly hurt and before she can even recover, Brandon shows up with the police.

didn’t really like this one

I read the first book and bought the whole series, but this book wasn’t that enjoyable.

1. Didn’t care for the dreamer power as the wolf “god” is just at best neutral - he wants his werewolf slaves to fight to the death and fight vampires… the wolf should show quite a bit more compassion also he says the dreamer is the only one that can stop the vampires etc…
2. Liam- did not like him that much - he kept tayla in the dark about everything including who her first boyfriend really was…
3. Plot was a bit all over the place

Way different pacing then the first book
I will read the rest since I bought them.

But first book is so much better

Couldn't finish

I just didn't like this one as much as the first. I think I was having a hard time understanding our heroine. She is abused and weak with her bf Brandon? yet she is feisty with Liam? I would have thought she meek from dealing with abuse for so long, I was a little thrown with her attitude. Yet when Brandon comes back with taking her away and adding more drama, she just let's him. Back to meek. I got to 60% and when she went back to Brandon and hurt her mate I didn't have it in me to even want to finish reading this anymore.

Intense

Good versus evil battles are usually intense, so when it includes vampires and wolves and special humans, it gets a little over the top. I took short breaks while reading, but I needed to know what would happen, so I picked it right up again. These books are so very different from my normal rom-coms, but I find I'm enjoying the loyalty of the pack and the strong bond between the wolf and his mate. Talya is an amazing character, as is her mate Liam, the beta wolf. I'm looking forward to the next book in the series.

Good, but a few issues

Enjoyed the storyline and characters, but some of the plot points were sloppy. Her suspension was a little unbelievable. I teach high school, and no one is suspended without hearing both sides of the story, especially when she is obviously injured. Are we to assume the principal was part of the “bad” pack? And the police coming to get her without any mention of her actual guardians’ involvement was a little hard to believe also. I like the premise, but just because it’s fantasy doesn’t mean all logic has to be thrown out.

Different take on the weres

I love fantasy, especially shifter books. This is the second in the series that I’ve read.
If you’re into Feehan, Zanetti, or Breene this series might not be for you.
I like a fated mate story but both the heroines, book one and two, are 18 and the guys are in their early twenties.
Manner is a pastors wife so her sensibilities are going to be different than the above authors but I feel like 18 is too young for my reading.
Perhaps the books are actually YA and I didn’t realize that.

I NEED the next book!

Liam was my favorite character. I enjoyed how easily he was able to insert himself into Talya’s life. I also enjoyed watching her grow throughout the story. The only thing I wish for was that Brandon and his dad had suffered and to know what made them the way they were. Overall the book was fun and sweet and definitely worth 5 stars. I can’t wait to read the next book in the series.

FAILURE!

Fails on many areas. Uses stasis instead of status. I read one full series by this author it was not do full of errors as this second series where I quit on page 230 of the second book. Stasis is a state of unchangeability, status would be how or as you are. Did anybody spell check this book? Fire them! I would not recommend this book to anybody who can read at or above the 8th grade English Grammar or 8th grade reading level.

It’s a pretty decent read as the second book in the series. It was different than the first in a lot of ways and there was some confusion about her age whether she was 17 or 18. However, there’s one spot in the book when she asked him how old he is and he says 21 and then in turn asks her and she says she’s 18 so I’m going with that. pretty decent read all in all and there are some plot holes though so hopefully they work on that.

Getting Better

Second novel is better than the first and I may read the third. There was still a bit of jumping forward in an awkward way plot wise, but this MF had some nice backbone. She really lacked a lot of faith in the MM though and not because he deserved her doubt. In ways the MMs of the first and second novel are more fleshed out in a logical way than the MFs. Still a decent read.

I enjoyed this book but often felt the Grandparents were an afterthought. She never should have taken into police custody without someone calling her guardians. They stayed in the dark most of the time and seem to go with the flow in an unnatural way.

I enjoyed Liam but often thought of him as a big brother and not a mate/lover.

I wish there was more romance…

It's a good book, I only gave it 4 stars because it's in 3rd person, and I hate reading in the 3rd person but couldn't put the book down. I did cringe in the beginning since Talya was 17 and in HS, and Liam was 21 and technically a teacher at her school, but I didn't DNF the book and I kept reading and it really pulled me into it.

The whole series was really good.

It's vampires and werewolves, but with a new lore spin to it. But more importantly, the characters were the stars of these books. Especially the women, who have gone through rough times, and some very bad situations. The wolves may be the "heroes", but the woman don't just sit back and let them do everything. They stand on their own two feet, and grow their strength chapter by chapter.

The men of the pack also have their difficulties and hurdles to overcome, and together, they help each other overcome obstacles and problems.

I'll have to admit though, there were a couple of times I rolled my eyes.. when the man spews out a large paragraph of devotion, adoration, and promises. A wee bit too much, I've never heard a guy say so much all at once. Can't help thinking if I did, I'd think he was trying to hard, and being over the top. BUT... that's my only grief, I still highly recommend the books :)

clean and swoony romance

So glad that we got to read about Liam after getting to know him in the first book. Lots of swoony moments and angsty moments too. This story was a great second addition to the series and I can’t wait to read about the healer.

2nd book…stand alone

I like when good books are not cliffhangers but the subsequent books are related. In some books, not knowing the previous characters makes it difficult to follow but this one struck just the right balance.

Another great read

The Dreamer is another excellent adventure. I enjoyed reading Liams story and how he finds and romances his girl. The pack has two more gifts and they have already found one them. Now Paul just needs to win her in the next book. A great clean story

This was my favorite character from the first book's story so I knew I would love it and I did. This was a slower burn than the first one which I loved. There are a few villains in this one and they're all despicable, but what happens in so good.
