We Will Rise: An Adrian's Undead Diary Novel

Rate this book
Still grieving a tragic personal loss, Lockey and Nate shift their focus to the task of acquiring resources for their new community’s continuing survival, but something dark is stirring. An eerie shift in the behaviour of the undead makes Lockey’s apocalypse experience feel personal, and she has no idea why she appears to be the sole target for their murderous rage. Convinced now that something otherworldly is at play, yet torn by questions she can’t hope to answer, Lockey concentrates her boundless energy towards building a safe home for her new apocalypse family. Such safety is fleeting though, for a new threat is revealed elsewhere in the county, obsessed with dominion over the dwindling number of local survivors. Investigating this new peril while searching for other survivors - and hoping for answers to the questions that plague her waking hours - Lockey and Nate discover this new threat to their growing community is far more menacing than they could ever imagine… …as dreams of light and dark commence.

Lockey!

The second book of the series is even more amazing than the first. I am so glad that Cris Philbrook selected this author to coordinate with. This series goes hand-in-hand with Philbrook’s series Adrian’s Undead Diary. I know you will love the characters Nate and Lockey as much as I do. Lockey is a 24 y/o female with a crazy sense of humor. Nate is a 53 y/o war vet. Together they are fighting for survival in the zombie apocalypse. Join their trip. You will love it!

A damn fine book!

Carl Meadows has brought his characters to life in the world of Adrianna Undead Diary. His tie in to the Alpha group is string and his characters live in hard times. Choices must be made and secrets revealed.

Superb follow up which i am pleased to say had to all the heart and grit of the 1st book.
I was delighted to discover that the author understands sorrow and loss and didn't make the infuriating book binning mistake that too many writers do. I've ended brilliant books because of the unforgiveable action of healing from loss. I've read about characters losing wives, girlfriends and children, and then seemingly forgetting that loss within days. Book won't get finished by me.
But this author approaches loss, and healing the way actual people would, and its refreshing.
Danielle Cohen, as expected breathes life into our heroine, and the whole experience was brilliant.
Both book 1 and book 2 didn't get any 'sigh' moments from me either. 'Sigh' moments are those times a writer has characters do things which are completely out of character, and basically ridiculous, just to attempt to inject excitement.
I always maintained that the perfect story to me, had a whole bunch of different ingredients. Carl Meadows hit all those expectations, and added a few more.
I can't wait for book 3.

Amazing Ride!

What an awesome story! I wasn’t expecting this to bloom into it’s own saga, but now I am buckled in and along for the ride - I can’t wait for more! I highlighted so many quippy and profound quotes. I cried and laughed throughout both stories. I absolutely love these characters, and how well these stories tie in to Philbrook’s universe while carving out their own belonging. You don’t need to have read all of the Philbrook’s series to get into these (but again, why would you want to miss out on that amazingness?). One thing I do hope to see in forthcoming stories is a bit more insight into some of the side characters. They are all pretty unique with a lot to offer to the story, and I hope to see it expanded out to give a few more point of views - especially from Sarah, Alicia. I am still in love with Nate, and absolutely adore Erin. Now we have the dynamic duo of Locke and Keys! Also, be sure to look up the song played on the piano - it’s brilliant. Love your writing Mr. Meadows, and I am super excited to see all that comes next!

Lockey and Nate, a refreshing new take on the “buddy book” paradigm, where Nate is a bad ass former military man of about 50 and his buddy Lockey is a hardscrabble foster kid and par-core enthusiast in her mid twenties. Together, they face the zombie apocalypse and try to save other survivors.

In book two we get a hint of what is driving the zombies. It’s otherworldly, with a creepy, charismatic con man leading a group of zealots. This particular con man has been given powers by a dark source so he is able to direct the zombies.

With Lockey and Nate still grieving the loss of their fellow survivor, Freya, who succumbed to a zombie bite and had to be put down, they have to suck it up and prepare for the ultimate showdown!

Mr. Meadows continues to impress with his writing skills in this outing. Technically it's just a bridge between the introductory first book and the big action of the third of a trilogy (unless there's going to be more!?), but it rises above that with drama, action, and character growth. Be sure to read the acknowledgements at the end.

Amazing. I really can't pick a favourite in this series. We watch our girl grow into her place in the world with humility and a foul mouth. I love seeing a truly human main character.

Really looking forward to where this goes. The parallel to AUD in a few places made me nervous. Looking forward to more!

🔥 I feel like the series needs way more accolades. It is so good and it’s kind of like a mirror to the stand. So if you like the stand, you will love this one.

The second book in the Lockey vs The Apocalypse series is just as good as the first. I love the parallel word-building to Adrian’s Undead Diaries! I love Nate and I absolutely adore Lockey. There are pleasing similarities to AUD; the school and the journal keeping. There are differences; Adrian loved to list inventories whereas Lockey hates this and avoids it all costs. And now we have connections; dreams, the spiritual premise for the apocalypse, evil forces and powerful triumvirates.
Well-written; funny; sad; gripping; creepy; a complex plot that gradually unfolds; engaging believable characters; twists; turns; mysteries; shocks and surprises.
I can’t wait to get stuck into The Devil’s Due …
