This book has such a quaint Penny Dreadful feel, with the beautiful and macabre illustrations, and mock Victorian adverts which give hints of each story. I adored all of the tales, from the Mexican themed Mojiganga, the Olde Tyme Bingo Hall story, and the grungy ghost story of two murdered drug addicts. I was worried when I saw a dog story, as I don't like sad tales, but this one was unexpected and sweet. Every one of these are fantastic, haunting, and sometimes out and out terrifying in the most delightful way.
Nice to do in a day, refreshing to break up bigger, denser reads imo. My favourites were the king of the rats, slack water and the dog lives in this one.
