120+ pages of lifestyle advice and such. (Obviously, if you pick it up with that in mind, less of a drawback but I had gotten it primarily as a cookbook as it says in the title.) And with so many pages used for that, there are scant photos of the actual recipes. The recipes were for us pretty basic and oft covered.

Best:
Sheet Pancake - great idea
Blueberry Lemon Muffins - with ricotta for moisture
Stuffed Pesto Chicken Breast - 196
Chicken Teriyaki Bowl - 204
No-Yeast Cinnamon Rolls - 257

Read Harder Challenge 2021: Read A Foodie Memoir

I enjoyed reading what makes Tia enjoy her time in the kitchen, preparing food for her husband, and kids, as well as to care for herself. She is very transparent about some health challenges and what she has done with the food she consumes as a way help overcome some obstacles. Her quick tips are easy to follow and encourage multi-generational engagement and partaking. Only thing I would change is make sure every recipe has a full color illustration and not just 75% of them.

I muscled through those 120 pages of lifestyle tips and whatnot but it was actually hella repetitive and then the recipes turned out to be pretty uninspired as well :( Made like 8 or 9 recipes then lost interest

I wanted to like this, but it's really a lifestyle blog wearing the costume of a cookbook.

It's 250+ pages and there are only 65 recipes.

Seriously, it's split in 2 parts and you don't see a recipe until 100+ pages into the book. It's like one of those recipe blogs where you have to read a whole life story to get to the ingredients list. It was disappointing to be sure. Some of the recipes, once you got to them, looked really good. I just think the editorial staff should have trimmed up the front of this cookbook. It felt like 2 separate books smooshed together --one on healthy choices/setting up a kitchen and another with actual recipes. I can see why they'd want to put it in one book: no one is going to buy a how to set up your kitchen book and a recipe book of about 100 pages is just not worth as much as a more robust volume --so here we are.

There is some irony in that it is called quick fix, but nothing really feels quick about this book. You just front end all of your cooking time into reading this book.

Easy to read and follow cookbook with lots of quick recipes for a family. I have saved a few to try. Most cookbooks follow a particular pattern and this one fits the bill, but I recommend it to those who are new to the kitchen or need new inspiration.

I received a copy of this book from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

description

This is a great beginner cookbook or a great cookbook to pull out when you need easy and quick recipes. This would also be a great cookbook to use if you want to cook with kids. In addition to the recipe collection, Tia Mowry discusses the importance of food, gives insight into organizing your kitchen and pantry, and lots of detailed ideas about meal planning.

I checked this book out of the library, and I was surprised at how much I was impressed by it. I am an avid cook, and usually only see about 3-4 recipes per cookbook I’m interested in. But these recipes are perfect for busy parents who want to get a reasonably healthy and non-processed foods meal on the table in a fairly quick amount of time, but with food that their kids will (at least most of the time) want to eat. I’ve marked quite a few recipes to add to my menu rotation. I will update this review after I’ve made some of them.

This cookbook is pretty standard. The pictures are lovely, but none of the recipes stood out to me. Unfortunately, this cookbook follows what seems to be a current trend where the first 100 or so pages aren't recipes but rather an exposition of the author's food philosophy and list of what ingredients and equipment you should have. This is certainly not unique to this cookbook, it's just an unfortunate annoyance in a lot of current books. (I'm not necessarily opposed to a list of necessary ingredients or equipment, but does it REALLY need to take 1/3 of the book?!)

I borrowed this from the library, but I may need to buy it! Every recipe in this book looks amazing and I need to try them. I like that the recipes are with common items and don't take too much time.

However, there isn't as many recipes as you would think. More how-to's like "keep your kitchen organized", "have family time", "kitchen supplies", etc.

I’m glad I checked this out, and didn’t actually buy it. It’s called Quick Fix Cookbook, but there really wasn’t many quick meals, and it was barely a cookbook. A lot of it was just fluff. Do I need explaining what a kitchen towel and a wooden spoon are and what they’re for??? Ridiculous! Lots of recipes didn’t have pics, and honestly none of the ones shown were anything new or worth saving.

This is a great starter book for anyone just entering the kitchen world. The first third of the book (100+ pages) is devoted to tools, pantry staples, definitions, and other basic information. The recipes are simple and she has some decent methods of cutting corners. I've never thought to make pancakes like a sheet cake. That is kind of brilliant.

I thought this was a great cookbook. I love reading everything Tia Mowry wrote about the different tips for a healthier life style that worked for her. All the recipes look tasty and easy to try. I will have to give some a try.

Way too much information on how to set up a kitchen, it's tools and a pantry, etc. which is great for a novice cook, but not of much use to others. The recipes are too simplistic and bland, which other reviewers have commented on. Not a cookbook for me. Others will have to decide for themselves.

I didn’t think this would be very good - I loved Sister, Sister as a kid - but didn’t necessarily think of her as a chef. However, I was pleasantly surprised by what a useful cookbook this was.

This book meets the needs of someone who is new at cooking but also has children. I think most people who have kids have already figured out how to make scrambled eggs by the time their kids are old enough to eat meals. The first half is more like a nutritional parenting blog. The second half has the recipes and unfortunately not all of them have pictures to go with them.

This book is a great book for someone starting out cooking. LOTS of background information -- what tools/equipment to have, pantry basics to have on hand, meal planning techniques, how to store staples, etc. However, I wanted to see the recipes and they didn't kick in until page 128! Not as many recipes as I expected.
