He needs a cat-sitter in sunny L.A., and I need a place to live after a bad breakup.
Perfect, right? Sure, if you possess any type of self-control.
Spoiler alert: I have none.
This arrangement has trouble written all over it, but warning signs are meant to be ignored. Kind of like clicking on the "I have read and agreed" no one actually reads before clicking.
Problem is, I never did agree to fall so quickly back into love.
Now Adam and I are all grown up. And those rules we needed to abide by in order to keep my brother happy? They're gone.

She writes angsty books, unredeemable anti-heroes who are in Bill Gates's tax bracket, and sassy heroines who bring them to their knees (for more reasons than one).
It is not cool to glorify emotional manipulation and denial of consent for physical contact. I couldn't even enjoy the book because of the sexual assault vibes the first few chapters gave off. The rest of the book didn't do much better. Please do better.
It's shortnd sweet but oh so spitfire of passion squeezed into a tiny novella. It kept me invested, it kept me panting with want and it kept me engaged with smart writing. Loved every inch of Adam McKay. Savannah Pechwood has done an outstanding job of narrating and has brought the story to life 5 oscars for a broken Hearts Follow me on: Email🌻 Bookbub 🌻 Twitter🌻 Instagram🌻 Blog🌻 Facebook🌻 Amazon 🌻
No hay mucho que pueda decir porque es bastante corto y simple.
Básicamente tenemos a nuestros protagonistas.
"I hated that you were my best friends sister and the only girl off limits in our entire god damned town" 🧡
I zipped through the audiobook of Eternal Sunshine by L.J. Shen. It was s quick and charming listen with the combination of the brothers' best friend and second chance tropes – a guilty pleasure of mine. I found the chemistry between the main characters super cute. The way their past history intertwined with their present circumstances created a fun dynamic. It wasn't all smooth sailing, mind you; there were definitely moments that tugged at the heartstrings, but ultimately, the journey to their happily ever after was worth it. I enjoyed the touches of humour sprinkled throughout the narrative, which kept things light and engaging. It prevented the story from becoming too heavy, even when dealing with more emotional themes. Short and sweet and a positive 3 🌟s
She is in love with her brother's best friend. The brother keeps the two of them apart to test both of their loyalties. Gross. What kind of weird ass family dynamics is this?
It is official. L.J. Shen books are not for me.

Cute short story for in between books that would probably be appreciated by L.J.Shen's fans, but it was too short to have anything too memorable to stay in my mind in the long run.
It was a good story that had the potental to be more, but it really was too short. It was a cute one though and the audio was well done.
I don’t typically enjoy Hollywood romances or LJ Shen books, but the brother’s best friend + mutual pining tropes really elevated this for me!
He’s a bit of an asshole but she’s not a doormat either, and I liked how they addressed the shitty brother entitlement that’s at the core of the brother’s best friend trope.
It wasn’t a new fave but was an enjoyable novella, and reminded me that sometimes I do like LJ Shen’s writing.
I spent one dollar on an audible membership for the month come to find only 6 books total in the whole free library that I would even consider reading - thankfully this exclusive little L.J Shen was one of them!!!! Cause I love all her stuff. This is a little novella only 90 minutes on audio - but a short sweet little number about brothers best friend can't date her kind of romance. Loved it and was a prefect little book to throw on when you need a little inbetweener!!
2.5 Stars A quick audio book about 1 1/2 hr. This is a I'm in love with my brother's best friend situation. It's quite generic but it wasn't bad considering how short it was. Overall, average.
Short novella, it took only half an hour for me to read it, i was tempted to say Is that it?? at the sound of end credits.
Adam is Nica's brother Val's bestfriend therefore off limits. But she had a crush on him forever. She never told him but her actions were pretty obvious.
One day while she was sitting with her brother and his friends including Adam and his casual girlfriend Maya watching Eternal sunshine of the spotless mind, Adam and Maya did something that made Nica leave to her room.
Adam followed her tried to play wrestle with her like they always do, as he was trying to reveal something to her she kneed him and left the room.Since then they avoided eachother.
Ten years passed, Adam is a famous Holywood actor, she is a script writer they haven't met eachother in a decade. But when she found her boyfriend Chris cheating on her she had to move.
Val asked her to stay with Adam, in return she has to take care of Adam's cat while he is away. Nica is still heartbroken and bitter about where they left their relationship so she acts really rude to Adam.
Adam reveals that he has been in love with her from childhood and thought she loved him too, as Val forbade him to date her, everything Adam did was to make Nica want him, abd make a move. But the plan backfired when she kneed him and disappeared.
They rehatch their relationship, and Val gets to know about it he gets mad at them both, it becomes clear that Val knew they loved eachother but kept them apart. He realised his mistake and things got okay again
Epilogue shows Nica and Adam married, pregnant at home watching Adam win an oscar for best actor for the movie Nica wrote screenplay for.
I liked it but it was way too small and soo fast paced, it was too many things happening in a blur.

While this book had a lot of potential, I found the relationship dynamic between the brother and the sister quite disturbing. It just didn’t make sense to me how he managed to keep his sister and his best friend separate single-handedly for a decade. And then suddenly they just got together again with no difficulty.
I feel it just wasn’t well thought out and quite rushed too considering it was a short length book. But if you like a short romance, you can give it a shot.
This was so cute, it also made me super mad! I used to love LJ’s books.❤️ big love. However the last three books was devout of any feeling from me, just boredom, is that a feeling? So no I just read this super short novella of sorts and in a few pages she has me all giddy again! I am so mad at the last 3 books, and apparently I hold a grudge. Please come back to this❤️
Eternal Sunshine by L.J. Shen is a cute novella that delivers on the classic "Brother's Best Friend" trope. Shen's witty writing and sizzling chemistry between the characters make this a quick and enjoyable read. Bonus: It's free on Audible (no credits needed)
This fast-paced novella with an angsty start was engaging and fun.
After a falling out Nica has avoided anything to do with her brother's best friend, Adam. When she finds herself needing a place to stay, she is not happy to find out her brother arranged for her to stay at Adam's.
It has the vibes you would expect from a young unrequited love story. She carries the hurt from the past which led to some snarky banter. There was some fun banter when she first arrived. An overprotective brother that forbids a relationship adds some drama and tension.
My biggest complaint is the short length. It made it difficult for much growth and build-up. Things moved along at a super fast speed with not much time for resolution.
A short novella so there isn't much room for depth but it was a great audiobook to pick up and listen to while running errands or doing chores.
This is a great little short story that I picked up on Audible. It’s a brother’s-best-friend, enemies-to-lovers story that is fun, sexy, and gorgeously romantic, and I loved it!
Nica is in love with her brother’s best friend, Adam, but misunderstandings, an overprotective big brother, and a disturbingly dodgy decision lead to an epic falling out when she is 16 and he is 18. She is left heartbroken and furious, and cuts off all contact with him. Ten years later Nica finds herself temporarily homeless, and it’s Adam – now a huge Hollywood star - that comes to her rescue, allowing her to move into his home. Their first time seeing each other in ten years is awkward and full of tension, but all of that chemistry and emotion is still very much there. And when Adam reveals that Nica’s feelings all those years ago were, and still are, reciprocated, it’s on.
I really enjoyed this book. It’s short, but still brings the feels and the chemistry, and I loved seeing Nica and Adam find their way back to each other in a way that they both wanted so badly. There is flirting and banter, swoony declarations and sexy time, and there’s even some drama when Nica’s brother gets involved. I would have loved for this story to be longer than it was, but it works well as a short, and I finished it with a smile on my face.
The audiobook is narrated by Savannah Peachwood, who narrates a number of Shen’s other books. I really like her, and think she does a great job bringing the story to life.
They met as kids, he is her brother’s best friend and has loved her since he was 16. He ATTEMPTED to open the door to them when he was 18 and had just graduated HS but he did not go about approaching it anywhere NEAR the right way.
I applauded her for standing her ground for him being a jerk but didn’t like the ghosting for ten years. We find out at the end why though.
I loved the way that Adam (her brother) blew up at his best friend for continually trying to keep him and the sister apart.
This gem was narrated solely by Savannah Peachwood. I very much appreciate her voice and talent
