This is a very well thought out book that is suitable for anyone. It doesn't matter what religion you believe - or don't. Or what type of diet you follow. The goal of the book is to create wellness for your unique self. There is no wrong way. Okay, back up. There are wrong ways. For example, don't eat a bunch of pseudo processed food crap, but that is just common sense by now isn't it? The book is written in a very relaxed & non judgemental way. The author herself believes in a "plant based" diet, but doesn't push Veganism or any -ism for that matter.

Part One starts with the mind. Here she explains what mindfulness is & provides information about different ancient traditions such as, The Vedas, Zen Buddhism, Taoism & Stoicism. Within each basic breakdown of these belief systems she explains how these principals can be used in modern life.

From here she discusses various forms of meditations & mantras & explains how they can be used in modern life. After this, the various stresses life can send our way & the various ways we can try to work with them. Granted, some stresses are pretty much out of our control. In these situations, the best thing we can do is acknowledge & accept that it is something we cannot control at this time & do our best to let it go. I personally find a rather successful way to find happiness & reduce stress is to stop worry about what everyone else is doing. Just worry about what you are doing. Trust me, life is so much nicer this way. I learned this years ago from a beautiful 19 year old young woman & it works.

The power of the mind doesn't end here. She also discusses the power of positive thinking & how to rephrase how we speak to ourselves, how to identify different "victim" personality types, & different types of outside therapy should it be needed.

Last in this section is to keep learning. If you didn't know it already, a learning mind, is a healthier mind. She discusses ways to keep the mind engaged & learning new things.

The second section it is all about physical wellness. Here she discusses nutritional foods (note that if you are on a special diet, you can still utilize her advice, but be sure to stick with what you know you need (or don't need) for your own wellness while still incorporating as many of her food suggestions as possible), exercise aka movement, healing (herbal treatments, massage, & a whole lot more). This is a very gentle book. There is no judgement, only acceptance & guidance to help you be healthy.

Part Three is all about fostering spiritual wellness. This doesn't promote any particular religion or belief. Instead she suggests ways to help you with your spiritual wellness, no matter what your belief system is, or isn't. She also discusses the importance of family. By family, this doesn't necessarily have to be blood, but anyone you consider family. Spiritual wellness doesn't end there, by finding ways to give to others we feel connected & are able to feel more gratitude.

Personal action plans are included to help you along your journey. Note: this is not a picture book. This is a text book with a some areas that you can fill out to help you determine what is best for you & your personality type. I'm not sure why one would need or expect pictures in this type of book, but I do realize that there are people who don't like books without pictures. If you are a picture person, you may not find this book suitable for your personality.

For me, this is a beautifully done book. It embodies exactly what it is to be holistic. It is about the whole body. You are guided to look within yourself without judgement to better understand yourself & how to better help yourself. This in turn can help you become happier & more connected with others, providing you with a greater joy of life & empathy for others.

A straightforward, leisurely read. This book did not include as much in-depth information as I expected, but ultimately I don't see it negatively. Rather than deep diving into specifics, the author provided a very helpful and diverse overview of numerous techniques that I found helpful for building out a greater foundation for my own further research and wellness practices. Key takeaways, daily practices, and journal prompts are included in each chapter's summary. This book is well organized and will be easy to reference in the future.
