New Release Review! Stone Cursed: Taurus (Highland Gargoyles #6 / Zodiac Shifters) Lisa Carlisle!
Locked in stone. On his night off from sentry duty, gargoyle shifter Alec heads out for a night flight. When he spots a strange green light, he soars closer to investigate. And is caught... Veda has had doubts about Kai since they left their coven to seek ley lines in the Scottish Highlands. When he curses a gargoyle with dark magic, she's forced to act. Stone Cursed is another great Highland Gargoyles story. It has strong, compelling characters that draw readers in and refuses to let go. Veda and Kai have sizzling chemistry and are easy to connect to which it makes readers want to know everything about them and how their happily ever after will work out. The story is fast paced with plenty of thrills and excitement as the couple escape from a bad witch with a greedy power hungry mindset and lots of emotional turmoil as they try to maneuver their way through their attraction and their issues that get in the way of their romantic journey that has some blazing hot passion to heat up the pages and their libidos which of course makes all that emotional angst lose its importance – which is how it should be right?.
Lisa always brings her sexy gargoyles to vivid life and her Highland Gargoyle world always keeps me glued to the pages, so the fact that I really enjoyed Stone Cursed, doesn’t surprise me at all, if fact it just makes me want more.

Wow! Ms. Carlisle does it again with her brand new addition to the awesome Zodiac Shifters world! “Stone Cursed: Taurus” grabbed me from the start & held on tight through the end! Another unique storyline with well-defined characters & great attention to detail that will keep readers engaged & turning pages! I never write spoilers or recap blurbs, but I know when I’ve read a fantastic book to honestly recommend! I volunteered to read this in advance but without any outside influences & I also buy kindle copies whenever I’m able. I can’t wait for more from this author & this series!
Alec encounters black magic on his return trip home and ends up getting tangled up with a sassy witch Veda when she saves him. On the run from the evil wizard Alec and Veda find a connection but is it safe for them to be together.
I am voluntarily leaving my honest review of this book. This is book 6 of the Highland Gargoyles series by the author.
Alec never wanted to leave the Isle of Stone to the Highlands, but he had to follow his Clan as was his duty. His heart will always be there though, he remembers it in his daily flights over water. His clan and especially his father never forget the rift between gargoyles and witches, one of the reasons they decided to leave the Isle. Although Alec will never forget the murder of his mother when he was a wee lad by a witch, he also acknowledges that not all witches should be held accountable, especially when he is rescued from a grave of stone by the loveliest witch he has ever set eyes on....He may be a stubborn Taurus, but even he can't deny the attraction that exists and is willing to sacrifice his long life at the clan to continue in the bewitched state of Veda.
I love gargoyle stories and the author has created a world where they are protectors and have clan loyalty. Alec is restless since his family has left their home. Their new home, a crumbling castle, doesn't give him the same comfort. Yet, his family loyalty forces him to remain. During a long flight to pass the time, he finds himself drawn into a strange light and ends up cursed by a dark warlock. When the warlock's companion sees his unnecessary evil act she plans to try to undo the evil spell--at her own peril.
Now they both need to escape the evil man. Their journey is an awakening into a special relationship. Can they form a friendship as witch and gargoyles have a long-standing feud? Their journey to escape leads them closer and closer.
I enjoyed the story and the reference to the previous series of a gargoyle rockband. Great world building and a couple with strength who fight the odds. I voluntarily reviewed this advanced reader copy and I have not been compensated in any way.
The author continues to work with the theme of gargoyles finding love with other kinds of paranormals. Gargoyles are not supposed to be with witches but that doesn't stop Alec and Veda from growing closer as they work to keep safe from another.
I enjoyed the story and the characters. It is well written and has a good mix of action and romance. Alex and Veda have great chemistry and their romance works well. The story complements the author's earlier series titled Knights of Stone very well and I recommend you check them out if you enjoyed this story.
Alec takes off for a night flight..To enjoy the stars and relax....He suddenly see's a strange green light in the distance...he flies in to investigate.. Veda, a witch, left her home in the mountains to help Kai find ley lines to increase their powers.. But she finds out he wants to increase his dark magic powers.. When Kai curses Alec, Veda intervenes...Putting them both on the run. Can a witch and a gargoyle learn to work together to end the hatred in their pasts? Great new read in the Highland Gargoyle series.. Can't wait to see where Lisa takes this series next.
A great addition to the Zodiac Shifters series and the Knights of Stone series. I love gargoyle stories. They are as hard headed as you would expect. But one little witch will change this gargoyle and show him that not all witches are bad. A little action and adventure with a few heated scenes.
I voluntarily read and reviewed a copy of the book.
I have a feeling I missed some books before this one. He is a gargoyle shifter. He goes out for a night flight and sees this mysterious light and goes to it and is turned to stone. A witch saves him and Kai isn't liking it. They have to go on the run now. I was given a review copy by booksprout and voluntarily review it.
The Calder Gargoyle Clan has relocated to the Highlands of Scotland, their ancestral home. They used to live on the Isle of Stone, located in the Atlantic Ocean off the coast of Scotland. Humans had discovered the Island and the Alpha decided to relocate the clan with the exception of five brothers. Alec is maybe regretting the relocated. He misses the smell of the Ocean and the sounds of the waves crashing against the rocky cliffs. On his night off from patrol duties, he flies north over mountains to reach the coastline. He sees a strange green light flickering in the distance, Could it be Northern Lights? His gargoyle instincts tell him to check it out as those lights seem unusual. He observes a tall thin man wearing a robe and carrying a staff accompanied by a small dark haired woman in front of a huge cauldron. Witches! Witches and gargoyles do not mix, ever. What evil magic are they brewing this far from civilization? He over hears that they have left their coven to practice on their own and to increase power. Alec is discovered by the male witch, Kai and is cursed and frozen in place. How can he warn his clan? The female witch, Veda. helps Alec and they run from Kai. Will they make it to safety, together? This is a good book that keeps you turning the pages. I liked Alec and Veda's attraction to each other despite the cultural taboo of gargoyle and witches being enemies. This book nicely dovetails with the Isle of Stone series. Good characters, compelling story.
What a great read! This was my first read in this series and now I want to go start at the beginning. It has strong characters, adventure and danger, magic, and falling in love all rolled up together.
In this book Alec the gargoyle meets a witch, a witch killed his mother and his family would say that he should have left her to die even though she helped him first when her friend the wizard decided that Alec was a spy. They get to know each other and find they have a lot that brings them close and their feelings closer. A romance with some violence. I was given a copy as a gift from author. I am providing an honest review without obligation.
This story started a little slow then took off into a magical and well developed world. I loved the characters. Loved the relationship building. I could see the world in my head as this author developed it. I fell for this gargoyle right along with Veda. I do love a good gargoyle story and this was definitely good. I read it straight through and now intend to go read the others in the series. Great read.
he went out for a night out but he was caught in a trap and now he was casted in stone. she thinks what kal has in mind and she is shocked at what he does but she decides to try to save him without getting into trouble herself. w3ill she be able to do it? see if she can save him

Emotionally thrilling, sexy, charming, gripping and entertaining romantic adventure for two highly magical beings. Enjoyed every heart pounding twist and turn.
A witch and a Gargoyle are thrown together to fight evil and are falling as they face a dangerous battle. Whats not to love. I highly enjoyed reading this exciting and romantic journey filled with undeniable passion and magic.
Received this book in exchange for a honest review.
What an awesome read. I had to go back and find the others in the Zodiac series. A magical world with characters written so real that they become real in your mind whilst reading. Just enough action and romance...
I love read about gargoyles and this author wrote it the right way. there is action and romance and it all takes place in the Highlands of Scottland. I loved reading this book alot. I can not wait till I can read her next book.

Book six of the Highland Gargoyles series a well-written story that kept my interest from the beginning until the end. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Veda and Alec, a witch and a gargoyle, are each feeling like they are in the middle of nowhere and not where they belong. On his night off, Alec had gone out to fly over the ocean which called to him. But a strange green light caught his attention. He tried a mental link with his clan to tell them of this possible threat, but he was unable to connect with anyone. He landed in a tree and hid among the branches as he watched a man in a black robe with a woman in a green cape as they circled a huge black bubbling cauldron. She thought something was wrong, sensing darkness that was draining her. Then Kai seemed to see Alec’s hiding place, even though he had magic to hide him from humans. Alec flew from the tree until tingling numbed his wings and shivers ran through his body and he turned to stone as he crashed to the ground!
Veda argued with Kai but he was cruel and tapping into his ancient dark magic powers was what he wanted. But Veda wanted only good and insisted on their coven’s rule to harm none. They went into the cabin, but the woman returned and chanted a spell around Alec and he felt the stone weaken. His wings still remained awkwardly weighted, but the man shouted and he had to fly the best he could to escape. Kai dragged Veda back to the cabin and Alec fiercely wanted to protect her. He knew he couldn’t fly in and carry her away in his condition. But he wouldn’t leave her.
Alec crept close to the cabin when the man went into the woods to find him. Alec found Veda tied to the bed and he cut her loose. Together they find their way as they run from the evil wizard Kai who had cursed Alec with dark magic, and the two of them learn to depend on each other. Will they escape Kai’s wrath? And where can they run to be safe from him?
Gargoyles turn to stone during the day in order to restore their energy. Alec is a gargoyle that originally was from the Isle that has now been found by mundanes. Most of the Clan had moved to Scotland and lived in a castle that looks abandoned so no mundanes would go there. The Clan hates witches. One day, while Alec was flying around he came across a man and a woman. The warlock cast a dark spell at him and turned him to stone and he couldn’t shift out. Later, the woman freed him and the warlock punished her and went looking to recapture Alec. Meanwhile, Alec freed her and they escaped by the skin of his wings which were crisped. Veda is drawn to Alec and he to her. He overcame his hatred of witches because she saved his life. On their journey back to his home, which took a lot longer walking than flying, they got close. It was a very sweet story with a bit of misunderstandings and overcoming of hate. I really liked that.
This whole series teaches you that there are misunderstandings and that you need to just talk to people. To be honest and tell people how you really feel. I love that. I can’t wait for the next book!.

I’ve read books by this author for years, and I’ve enjoyed every one. This one is no exception. I’ve read a few others in this series about Highland Gargoyles, and I enjoyed this fast-paced read about Alec’s (and Veda’s) story. Alec, feeling restless, goes out for a little midnight flying and recon…and gets far more than he bargained for: a dark magician turning him to stone mid-flight! A witch who doesn’t abide this dark magic releases him but is swiftly punished for her kindness. Alec knows things won’t go well for her as he heads for safety and freedom…will he turn back and help? I enjoyed reading about these two paranormals who don’t really feel like they fit in with their people…finding home with each other. If you like well-written short shifter romance, you will probably enjoy Alec and Veda’s story.
I received a free copy of this book, but that did not affect my review.
Gargoyle shifter Alec (H35) feels like something is missing in his new life after the Calder Clan left the Isle of Stone to journey to their ancestral Scottish Highlands. His curiosity is aroused during a solo night flight and he finds himself turned frozen in his stone form by a wizard, Kai. Witch Veda (h24) is horrified that Kai is using dark magic and helps Alec escape, earning her Kai’s wrath. An injured Alec and Veda have to go on the run together trying to get to his clan, even if they might not be receptive to witches. Action and adventure witch-shifter quickie romance with a side of heat, a little bit of relationship angst and two characters trying to find where they belong in the world.
I enjoyed the story so much. The characters of Alec and Veda was amazing story. Gargoyles hate witches and when Alec takes a midnight flight he sees a man and a woman. The Warlock casts a dark spell that turns Alec into stone. The woman witch Veda frees him but she gets punished by the warlock. Now Alec frees Veda and they start their journey to his home. As they spend time together he gets over his hatred of witches. They end up getting very close. It's a sweet, story that shows with a little bit of communications and misunderstanding they can overcome hate. I loved the story and this series has been outstanding.

A mix of the usual stuff I have come to expect from this series and some different stuff. But, I do have to say that I am intrigued by the idea of an array of authors writing shifter stories dealing with the Western Zodiac in one way or another. That was a nice little spin even though I wished for it to be more involved in the plot and of course longer. I like spending time with three characters and these in particular were what was different and the same about this story. Still, I enjoyed what I read and that is what counts.
Alec & Veda's story was a fantastic short read & is a great addition to the series. He's a gargoyle & she's a witch. Can they overcome obstacles thrown in their path for a chance at a HEA or will they be forever alone? Can't wait to see what the author writes next.

I love this series! The highland gargoyles are simply put, amazing and their stories are fascinating and so so good. Alec finds himself In trouble and cursed with dark magic so needs a witch to set him free! Enter Veda and it’s her ‘friend’ Kai that has trapped Alec. It’s well written, it’s exciting and I love this world that the author has created for us. Light vs dark, truth vs lies, can love save the day and bring them together?
