Amber Zeckis has just flown home to Phoenix after a dream vacation with her dream guy in Paris. But things go sour when she is stopped at the airport and US Customs finds a huge amount of undeclared cash in her luggage. The problem is, Amber has no idea where it came from. The authorities don't believe her and it's looking like she could be facing prison time and fines. She calls on her friends for help, and the Ladies are faced with their trickiest case yet.
My love of books started with weekly trips to the library as a child and from the moment I learned to read I can't remember a time that I didn't have at least one book going. For the past 25 years, that list has grown to include what I'm reading and what I'm writing at any given time.
I began writing my Charlie Parker series when my husband and I lived on Kauai, then continued them in my home state of New Mexico. Charlie lives in Albuquerque and manages to travel to a variety of locations, wherever her investigation business and her husband's helicopter business take them. My second series featuring Samantha Sweet, the 50-ish woman who breaks into houses for a living, is set in Taos, New Mexico.
In addition to reading and writing, I've traveled quite a lot, taught writing courses, and been a speaker at a whole lot of mystery conventions and writing conferences. In my spare time I also love to paint, draw, cook and spend time at the beach.
Amber is stopped when returning from Europe because the Customs inspector finds a huge amount of cash hidden in her luggage. Could it be the new boyfriend, Cody, she met when traveling? Cody's a computer nerd like Amber, and apparently he set her up to take the fall for the theft scheme he and his dad engineered. Not to worry: Amber's friends, the Heist Ladies, are on the case to help clear Amber's name and to make sure Cody gets his just desserts.
This has been an enjoyable series. I started with Samantha Sweets series and have since read every book written by this wonderful author. In this book as in all her others, she has such identifiable characters. You feel like you could meet any one of them at your local coffee shop. All are easy to understand and most are very likable. Even the villains have a few redeeming qualities.
I highly recommend this series as I do all of her series’s. I also look forward to whatever she comes up with next.
I’ve just finished the 5th and final book in the Heist Ladies series. This is not the usual cozy murder mystery series. In each book, one of the ladies is the victim of a multilayered scam and the ladies band together to resolve it. In the 5th book, Amber is the victim and accused of embezzlement. The plots are detailed and exciting. The stakes are always high. The characters are well developed. A toast to Sandy, Pen, Mary, Gracie and Amber, the heist ladies and Connie Shelton, the author. Thanks for a great read.
This was a little different but I had to keep reading! Staying up until 2am at times!. And what a great way to end the series! #connieshelton You do t be sorry to read this series. But make sure to start at book 1!
I've loved every book in this series. I hate to see it end. The women are strong, each in their own way. The stories are tangled, and keep you in the edge of your seat.
