Jace's old life is gone. Earth is a memory, replaced by a game world where survival itself is a challenge. But even if given a choice, Jace would never go back. He is a Northblood now, descendant of a proud barbarian lineage that once reigned over the chill realm he now calls home.
Despite the challenges beaten so far, nothing can prepare him for the looming contest. Long buried beneath sheets of ice in the far north, a barrow has been opened. The evil that struck down the Northblood during the height of their power rises again.
What chance to Jace and his friends have against the darkness that brought down a nation?
This is the final book in this LitRPG trilogy and in this book Jace and his team set out to face the frost lich and stop his frost monsters from devastating Rimeshore. This was no easy quest and was one they had taken upon themselves when Avant's army had managed to open the Lich's barrow which the King of the Northbloods had sealed shut for fear his enemy would wreck vengeance even after his death. The had to cross the barrier mountains, to traverse the icelands in order to get to the barrow. This proved to be a tough venture in its own right and nearly took the lives of both Jace and Mac a number of times. They got help from the dwarves who needed our team's help in return. They helped open up a path between Craghome and Summersleep in order for the dwarves to join up with their kin and in return they were given sleds and taken almost to the foot of the massive mountains. Mac went into a sort of coma and was given her own quest, she had to perform the death rites for the fallen Northbloods who had been left in limbo for so many centuries, unable to release their souls to Nivenheim to join their Gods. Through all the dangers they faced in the end when they finally confronted Svald, the frost lich they realised that everything happened for a reason, and it had all led them to seeing through the difficult quest they had embarked upon. I love that these two formed the Northblood bond between them, as berserker and shaman, and that this granted them double the strength, that their romance takes on a more serious bent and that they are strong enough to show kindness even to the monsters they sought to defeat. I really enjoyed this final book in the trilogy but hope to meet the team of Jace, Mackenzie, Seth and River in other Northblood books to come!
“This was a fun book. I am glad that I read it. You should try it too.”
I am not going to share my reasoning, thoughts on the book, or any opinions that would influence your decision to read it. I am simply saying that I liked it. I would like you to read it and make your own decision. After all, you are a much better judge of what you will like than anyone here.
I will happily discuss the book with you on Goodreads if you are so inclined. As always, I am open to debates and arguments, but also vain enough to seek acknowledgement, so feel free to roast me or applaud my efforts. Either is acceptable, because if you are paying attention to me then you are at least considering the book. And THAT my friends is exactly why you see my comments here.
I was very impressed with the authors creativity. She shows it not only in the characters, but in the gameplay as well.
Jace,Mac, River, & Seth work together to cross the highest mountain, ens up meeting some Ice Dwarves. After helping them solve a problem, they move on together with Hesh & Kayla to solve a World problem with only the skills & magic they have: the barbarian ."tank", a shaman, a healer & a necromancer.

Love her writing style.. Not too many povs great story yet again unfinished just like stonehaven this series leaves you wanting something more and not getting it. A great story with tons of loose ends. Not to mention bringing bob into the story completely breaking immersion and then Hailey too!?! I hated Hailey and hated bob even more and instead of making a fresh world she regurgitated the two most annoying characters in her best albeit unfinished work. Sad really
Wow… I finished this book cus I was 2/3 done with the series but it was just sooooo boring. I could see it being a fun irl dnd campaign maybe but jeez save yourself the time and don’t read this series. The ending is just lazy writing and plot armor cus the author needed a way to be done with this series
While I enjoyed the trilogy overall, I felt the end to be severely underwhelming. It felt as though several missing chapters were cut out of the book to wrap it up within a few short pages. The whole book builds up toward an epic climax that just... doesn't happen. It's not a bad end, per se, just a weak one.
What else can I say? Third book, so presumably you've read the first two books. If you have, pick this up, it's a great continuation of the story. The conclusion felt a bit rushed/anticlimactic, but that happens in life as well, and it all made sense in the end.
Seemed like an awful lot of rock climbing got put into this book for no particular reason, and the trilogy felt rushed to an ending for my taste. I really liked Stone Haven League, but this trilogy just didn't do it for me as much.
Bit of an anticlimactic ending. You spend 2 books reading about how big of a baddie the Lich is and when it comes down to the final fight hes basically an invalid. Loved the series regardless but still.
