Bar owner Hennessey McCoy finally has his life on track after being discharged from the U.S. Coast Guard under mysterious circumstances. He’s rebuilt his life piece by piece and Hennessey is the right place to open his heart to the right man. When his three-year-old niece goes missing at a party, Hennessey is paired with an annoyingly handsome search and rescue dog handler to help find the child.
Morrison Rowe, with the help of his search and rescue K9, Ahab, saves the day and finds the missing child, no thanks to Hennessey’s gruff and sarcastic manner. He can’t help thinking there’s more to Hennessey than sarcastic quips and a razor-sharp wit. Morrison sees a different, gentler side of the grumpy bar owner when he’s reunited with his niece.
As a way to say thank you, Hennessey invites Morrison to his bar, Bait for a free lunch. Never dreaming Morrison would take him up on the offer, Hennessey finds himself undeniably attracted to the dog handler. The pair begin spending time together, both encouraging the spark between them to grow into something more.
Things are heating up between Hennessey and Morrison when a man from Hennessey’s past comes to town, threatening to destroy everything he’s built from the ground up. Can Hennessey overcome the mistakes of his past or will this man steal his future as well?

I think this might be my favorite so far. Hennessy is the only brother who is not in some type of service; ie police, fire, EMS, etc. He owns & runs a bar after being discharged from the Coast Guard. We do find the back story on what happened & caused him to be discharged. Morrison was such a sweetheart and I just loved Ahab. Morrison is a search & rescue K9 officer & Ahab is his K9 partner. Morrison meets Hennessey when he is called in to help find Lola, Hennessey's 3 year old niece who went missing from her birthday party. There is instant sparks between the two. As our boy's start to grow as a couple, someone from Hennessey's past raises their evil head & try to destroy Hennessey. We also find out what Morrison's relationship with his father is really not a good one, but we get to see some hope in the end that things can be fixed. Even though you wouldn't really be lost starting with this book, I wouldn't recommend it as there are spoilers for the previous books and why would you. They are are all awesome stories. I highly recommend it.
I received a copy of this book from the author and this is my honest review.
I absolutely loved Hennessey! All of the members of this family are special and amazing, but the bond between all of these brothers is beyond fantastic. Hennessey has a past that doesn’t talk about. He doesn’t feel like he is worthy of happiness. The moment he meets Morrison and starts to believe in possibilities, his past comes back to haunt him. I loved how Hennessey and Morrison clicked and worked to believe in each other. I loved their romance, but I also loved their story. Another excellent book by Pandora Pine. Cant wait for Quentin’s story. He seems like a complete and total gem.
I am voluntarily reviewing an ARC provided by the author
I liked Hennessey's Handler but I didn't love it. There's certainly nothing wrong with it so I think it's maybe it's just me. Little Lola is an absolute delight and really made me giggle at times. I'm really looking forward to Quentin's book.
this was perfection... i loved it so much this is my favorite so far.. it was sexy and interesting and amazing.. i loved it so much.. the characters.. and ahab hahaha.. it was amazing.
It's Hennessey's turn to get his HEA in the fourth book in the Protect and Serve series...and I love this story! Morrison comes into the McCoy family circle at a stressful time, which does not make for the sweetest of meet cutes. He, along with his Search and Rescue dog (Ahab), manage to save the day. Both Hennessey and Morrison see something in the other man that persuades their reticent hearts to get involved. Their developing relationship is lovely and they quickly become a rock for each other as there are some metaphorical storms to navigate along the way. These are mainly in the shape of issues from the past.
The standard of writing is top drawer, as you'd expect from this author. There's peril and intrigue blended perfectly with tons of emotions and that amazing family environment (I still wish Mama and Papa McCoy were my parents!) and sweet romance.
It's always great to see the brothers interact - I love their banter, but there's a serious amount of especially cute page time with Lola and Sophie (introduced in book three) that makes me smile a lot.
Hennessey's Handler gets 5* from me and I can't wait for Quentin's story.
This is my honest review - I received a copy from the author.
I’ve been eagerly anticipating Hennessey’s coming to the forefront of this series. Wow, it’s jam packed with the cute, Lola, Sophie and the pups. With threats and betrayal, explosive confrontations, and so much more of the brother’s support and connection with each other. Hennessey and Morrison are a perfect for each other couple, growing closer through difficult times, while still being a fully involved family story. Highly recommended!
This is the first time I can honestly say reading the prologue does nothing to help the story even if it was an interesting prologue. I expected Kevin to play a much bigger part in the overall story since it opens with him and his first meeting with Hennessey and his parents in the prologue, but what we get is one or two small mentions of Kevin in the entire story.
Putting that aside, I enjoyed this story and really liked Hennessey and Morrison. I wasn’t sure about them at first, but they grew on me. The little girls, Lola and Sophie, stole the show when they were around. I love how the family is so strong together and the love they have for everyone.
The story flowed nicely and was well written. I found it kept my attention all the way through that I read it in one sitting.
What an incredibly boring book ! If I had to summarize it I would say : Lola,Lola, Lola, one kiss, Lola,Lola, sex scene, Lola, Lola, dogs, Lola, Lola, I love you, Lola, Lola, the end. I’m not opposed to children in books but the main character here was Lola . The MCs had a total amount of 4 dates , 3 kisses and a sex night shown to us. Everything else was talking to Lola or talking about Lola . Sorry but this book was a miss for me.
I am liking this series, maybe not as much as Ronan and Ten but still. I like the sense of family and the fact that adopted, the brothers are always there for each other. Was the love between Morrisson and Hennessey quick? Yes, it was insta-love but it was ok. Loved the little girls. Now we wait for Q's book which I think will be heartbreaking.
I liked it a lot. It had an interesting flow, where you think things are solved yet the plot twists and surprises you anew. I think this one is my favorite of the series as of yet.
Protect and Serve has been such a great series so far and Hennessey's Handler is another enjoyable addition. Hennessey is the fourth McCoy brother to get his story, this time meeting Morrison when he comes with his K9 dog, Ahab, to help search for his three year old niece, Lola. The initial meeting isn't great but emotions are running high. An offer of free food and drink at his bar gives Hennessey the chance to properly talk with Morrison and get to know him. Morrison loves his work with K9FIND and is really proud of what he's achieved. Meeting Hennessey gives him the chance to really make a connection with someone as he looks back on how lonely he's been. Their attraction is clear straight away and when they have the chance to talk, the connection grows and develops quite quickly, though the pace feels natural for them. Each has hang ups from their past and occasional worries about a relationship but Hennessey's brothers and Morrison's friend, Nate, help to talk them round and support them through every moment. Hennessey's past actually comes out quite quickly which I found a little surprising but liked how honest he was being and Morrison's history with his father made me sad as he makes comparisons to Hennessey's family. Whilst building something together, they have to contend with a man from Hennessey's past who he never thought he's see again, or at least hoped not. He vows revenge but family steps up, showing that it doesn't take blood to be as close and loved as the McCoys are. This story has a great plot that keeps the story interesting as well as the relationship that builds up through the book. The dogs and children are, of course, just as important in this story as the has and Ahab really stands up to the job while Lola and Sophie really tug on your heartstrings. I think we actually get more interaction in this book between the brothers which I love, they're a lot of fun with no trouble teasing and ragging on each other but will stand up with and defend til the end. I'm excited for Quentin's book next. I received an ARC and am happily giving a review.
I love this latest book in the Protect and Serve series. Hennessey’s Handler is the fourth book in the series and is not a standalone. Several characters from the previous books make appearances in this book. In this book we have Hennessey and Morrison as our main characters. Hennessey is the oldest of the brother’s and has been retired from the Coast Guard for awhile and he owns his own bar, Bait. Morrison is a K-9 search and rescue handler. Enter a precocious little girl, who is quite the adventurer and goes missing from her birthday party. Kennedy, one of Hennessey’s brothers, calls in Morrison to help search for the missing little girl. Hennessey pairs up with Morrison and his dog, Ahab to search for Lola. As they search, of course, they but heads, but in the end are successful in finding her. After the panic and relief of finding Lola wears off, Hennessey feels a bit guilty about his treatment of Morrison. So, in a gesture of friendship offers to buy him lunch at his bar. Or is it just friendship on Hennessey’s mind? Morrison accepts and their adventure begins. It would not be a Pandora Pine book without some serious obstacles to the couples HEA. Hennessey’s brother Quentin has reappeared and is dealing with his PTSD – but not well. Hennessey goes to Morrison to ask if a dog would help Quentin. Morrison makes a deal with his father, who owns a breeding/dog training program, in spite of their tense relationship, an attempt to help Quentin. Then a man from Hennessey’s past appears and stalks him. Tragedy occurs and threatens the new couple’s happiness. Will they be able to survive this tragedy? Will Hennessey be forced to reevaluate his life choices? Will Morrison live up to his father’s expectations? To find out pick up this book and you will enjoy it just as much as I did. I am always anxiously awaiting the latest release from Pandora, as she has great worldbuilding, and great characters – that have some seriously witty banter and some really hot sexy times. This time around, she had one of my favorite side characters – Ahab, the K-9 search and rescue dog. ARC and LoveBytes reviews.
Hennessey's Handler is a great read by Pandora Pine. The fourth book in the Protect and Serve series, it's a wonderful addition to this family series.
As always, the author combines a fast paced story with plenty of heart and humor. I love how Pandora writes children, with little Lola capturing my heart immediately. She's wonderfully precocious, innocent, and a total spitfire. She alone makes this worth the read. I adore her and her energy. Every single moment with her is truly wonderful.
And then there's the dog. Omg. The dog. Tears! So many tears!
As for the romance, this is the tale of Hennessey and Morrison. I enjoy the way everything develops for these two. And I love the strength of their connection.
This is a beautiful tale of found family, and the healing power of having a friend. It includes a stalker, which adds in some riveting suspense.
Written in alternating first person pov, the author once again draws us fully into this tale. The men fully come alive and entertain us throughout this fast paced story.
No one writes a group of friends and family any better than Pandora. Every one of her series charms me throughout with the amount of banter, humor, and love between all involved. With this series, Hennessey's family is explored throughout and one can't help but to wish they were part of this amazing family.
Hennessey's Handler is a fantastic addition to the Protect and Serve series. This romance is sweet, tender, and full of heart. It's another perfect example of why every Pandora Pine book is a must read for me.
Hennessey and Morrison, my favorite of the series! Highly recommended!
I really enjoyed the story of these imperfect men who are perfect for each other. Hen's strength, honor, passion and vision make him a compelling man and he has become my favorite brother in this series. Hennessey's history of his discharge from the Coast Guard and how he came to own the bar named Bait was key to this story and to the core of this man's character. Morrison is this amazing guy who works with search and rescue and trains dogs. He brings his own history to this story and has a heart so strong and brave that he can match and support Hen as Hen's life gets turned upside down by an evil man out for revenge.
Hennessey and Morrison are steamy just sitting and talking and I really enjoyed them together. I love their connection, their ability to talk like men and adults. The family was amazing as they gathered around these guys to offer support and love. There are so many great moments in this story and i know that you will enjoy their journey like I did!
I was gifted this book from the author and i freely give my honest opinion and review
I loved everything about Hen's story! Hennessey's Handler is the perfect addition to the Protect and Serve series by Pandora Pine. There is a reason why this author is a must read for me. She creates characters with such depth and dimension to them. As a reader you feel immersed in their lives. I love this group of made brothers and all that comes with them. Family is the cornerstone of this series and is represented in all forms, biological, found, adopted and any way possible. The common denominator is love. Hen has been rebuilding his life after past events took away his Coast Guard career. He really is kind of lost until he meets the one man who will always find him! Morrison Rowe is beyond a perfect match for Hen. Together they are exactly what they didn't know they needed. I loved their journey towards their HEA. It is full of family, love, growth and so much more! I can't wait for Q's story!
This is a great addition to the Protect and Serve series and I really enjoyed it. Hennessey's Handler is well written, sweet, fun, emotional, has cute puppies and kids, the characters are great and I love Hennessey's family so much. Morrison and Hennessey are perfect for each other and I like how their relationship evolves. They both have issues from their pasts that they have to deal with and I like that Morrison doesn't get scared off when Hennessey's past won't leave them alone. The strong connection and hot chemistry between them is apparent from the beginning and only increases as they spend more time together. Even when the worst happens they have each other to rely on. I love that Hennessey's family is so amazing as they are supportive and accepting of everyone. I like the ending and I look forward to reading the next book in this entertaining series.
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy of this book.
I've loved each of the couples in the Protect and Serve series. This time around, Hennessey was the brother who found love. Morrison was a search and rescue dog handler, and when he found Hennessey's missing niece, he and Hen butted heads but still felt an instant connection. I loved watching these two find their way to love in spite of a man from Hennessey's past being determined to keep Hen from finding any kind of happiness. This book was terrific, showcasing the unconditional love between the brothers and their parents, along with Lola and Sophie, and seeing them all embrace the lonely Morrison was so sweet. I adored the focus on the kids and dogs, and I was completely satisfied with the HEA our two heroes found together. This series is so good, and I recommend reading it from the start to get to know all the brothers. This one might be my favorite so far, since Hennessey and Morrison didn't fight their feelings for each other. I can't wait for Quentin's story!
I’ve been waiting for Hennessy’s story and I was not disappointed. His young precocious niece goes missing and Morrison arrives to help with his Search and Rescue K9 Ahab. So begins their romance, even if Hennessy didn’t make a great first impression, but the instant attraction wasn’t ignored and slowly progressed to much more. Both of these likeable main characters have baggage that follows them. Morrison has issues with his father and Hennessy’s Coast Guard past comes back to haunt him. Even though events add stress to their burgeoning relationship, they successfully find their way to an HEA. Naturally the whole McCoy family are there to assist in whatever way they can. This is an engaging and enjoyable read with some drama, minimal angst, medium heat, two adorable nieces and the healing power of a puppy.
This book was fantastic. I loved Hennessy and Morrison. The two are so well matched and their relationship was fun to watch develop. I loved that the two girls introduced in the previous book played such a big role in this story. The addition of a beloved dog that serves as both an occupation and a family member brings such a rich addition to the family centered story that all the books in the series share. The addition of suspense in this one is so well written and adds to the overall plot of the book and kept me engaged. And the ongoing theme of first responders is something I personally love because these are the true heroes in society and to see them portrayed in a positive light and finding happy ever after is uplifting. Another fabulous addition to the series and another must read from this author.
I think this is my favorite of this series. Maybe, it’s really hard to decide because I’ve enjoyed them all immensely. Hennessy just needed a little push to put down his walls and get over thinking he didn’t deserve love. Morrison just needed a little more than a K9 companion to finish the journey he’d already started away from the often- negative influence of his father. Together they both moved forward and I love their chemistry along the way. Not a lot of sap but it fit perfectly with their relationship as it developed. Cute kiddos, animal companions, and a family that always comes together for each other top it off. Some fear and danger but nothing this family can’t overcome. I recommend this series highly and really liked this installment. Will be looking forward to the next one too.
I like Hennessey and Morrissey. They're sweet together. The little girls are awesome.
The story just seemed a little rushed. It was Monday, then it seemed like the same day, but suddenly it's Wednesday. Hennessey spends more book time talking to his mom and brothers than Morrissey. Even though it's a romance, it felt like the story was more about Hennessey learning something about himself than him falling in love with Morrissey.
Probably the thing that bugged me the most was Hennessey complaining about how much "baggage" he has. What baggage? He had 2 great parents. He gets along with his brothers. He has no evil exes. He had a bad experience in the Coast Guard, but that's carryon luggage. I don't understand why he could ever feel unlovable when he's been loved his whole life.
I really love this series and have been waiting for Hennessy s story most of all. I was not disappointed.
Hennessy meets Morrison when the family needs the search and rescue dog handler’s help when 3 year old Lola goes missing at her birthday party. Not only do Morrison & Ahab find Lola but the two men find a spark of a relationship.
The course of the relationship goes smoothly but a threat from Hennessy’s past shows up and has the potential to ruin everything. There are some pieces of this story that are vague and could have used more detail (no spoilers) but it didn’t take too much away from the story.
The crisis moment was tense and the ending was sweet. There are some good messages about family, found family, and facing the past. I’m looking forward to Quentin’s book though I don’t want to see the series come to an end.
Hennessey's past has been a big mystery, leaving us to wonder about the events causing him to leave the Coast Guard behind. Finally, there is an answer, along with someone to drag him back into living a full life. I adore dogs and have a great deal of respect for SAR teams, so I was predisposed to like Morrison from the start. He's a complex character with plenty of strength along with his own emotional baggage courtesy of his father, but he's just right for Hennessey. The immediate sparks between them settle quickly into caring and love, but it doesn't feel rushed and watching Hennessey open up to Morrison was so sweet. As always, family features prominently and that's something that keeps me coming back to the series. I highly recommend these books.
I’m loving this series! Knowing that after this one, there’s only one more to come is really quite sad. Like his brothers, Hennessey struggles with some baggage from his past. His comes from the end of his career in the Coast Guard, and the return of his former superior who is out for some revenge. The stalker behaviour offers a good amount of tension and suspense, and also some big issues for his budding relationship with Morrison. Hen is a bit gruff with Morrison at first - same as his brothers and their love interests - but once Morrison helps rescue Lola, Hen starts to think that maybe he has found someone who can fit in his life. Oh, and how much Hen loves his little nieces is super cute! I love the big, heartwarming family moments and this series is packed full of them!
This is the fourth book in the Protect and Serve series and this time it's Hennessey's turn. He is a former Coast Guard (he left in not ideal circumstances which we discover) now bar owner and Morrison a Search and Rescue dog handler. The pair met along with Ahab, Morrison's rescue dog, when Lola Hennessey's niece goes missing at her 3rd birthday party. Both are reluctant at first to get into a relationship but they do and soon become each others rock. Along the way there are threats, betrayal, brotherly support and teasing (would you expect anything less from the McCoy brothers) and a deadly explosion. All through it Mandy and David are there - love these guys. Can't wait for the next book Quentin's.
Looking for a book that will make you appreciate good, bad and ugly in your life - this is it!
Taking lemons and making lemonade, potpourri - yep making something from nothing and smiling at your success this is the story for you. Hennessey didn't understand his parents sacrifice and their small part in the world that yielded above anyone expectations. Morrison a challenged relationship with his dad brings they on separate paths but the divide is manageable if the right motivation. Learning to evolve as people is simply amazing. MM Romance with love, puppies and kids what more could you want! Suspense, action, harm and generosity all bonus material. More book reports @my2centsbooklover!
Hairy Harmony. Another solid entrant into this series, this time featuring the one natural child of the unifying parents of all five brothers this series revolves around. As with every other entrant here, if you don't mind minor (and sometimes not quite so minor) spoilers about previous books, this one is perfectly fine as an entry point into the series. Solid MM romance with a rather shocking ending given how this series has been built to this point, and as with every other book in this series introduces the next brother and features him fairly prominently. (Including a rather interesting revelation about that particular brother's mysterious past.) Very much recommended.
Totally enjoyed Hennessey and Morrison's story. It's definitely a great story in this series. Hennessey and Morrison bond well and the interaction with the entire family members is so heart warming. The nieces are adorable and keep everyone hopping. Tea party!! Hennessey is building his life after leaving the Coast Guard and owns a bar. Trouble from Hennessey 's past tries to destroy any future he and Morrison are trying to build. The entire family rally around to help with the chaos. After a shocking event Hennessey and Morrison get their happy ever after and create a new direction for their future. A great series and builds excitement for the next brothers story.
Book 4 in the Protect and Serve series and this time it is Hennessy who gets to have his HEA. He meets Morrison, a Search and Rescue dog handler when his cute little niece Lola goes walk about on her 3rd birthday and Morrison and his dog Ahab come to the rescue.
As you would expect from a Pandora Pine book the writing is good, there is a villain, threats, explosive incidents, lots of lovely family time, emotions and sex, all the feels!
These brothers always have each other’s backs and their parents Mandy and David are wonderful but it’s little Lola who steals the show and the dogs, did I mention there are dogs, lots of dogs!
