Time’s running out for a precious omega who doesn’t even know he’s in trouble. Will this modern-day Rapunzel be rescued before it’s too late? A tower is all Caspian Shadowpaw has ever known. Sure, he's read a gazillion books about the world and watched humans interact on TV, but none of that will help him if he ever escapes his mother’s imprisonment – not that he particularly wants to. But when he sees his mother kill a seemingly innocent, pregnant fox, he begins to question her sanity and his life as he’s known it. Is his magic spire truly for his own protection? When a sexy man appears to whisk him away, can Caspian trust his base instincts to leave the tower, or will his mother’s warnings keep him locked away? Sean Greywolf has always been an outsider. A fox in a wolf's world, with one of those wolves his best friend and Alpha Heir Brody Shadowpaw. They're as close as brothers, so when Brody finds out he's not an only child and that his twin, an omega named Caspian, is locked away in a tower, Sean will do everything in his power to rescue the young man. After getting separated from his friends , Sean finds himself wandering the cold woods alone. Seemingly lost forever, he is surprised when he happens upon the tower he has been looking for. Despite telling himself that he's only there to rescue the sweet omega, his dumb heart has other ideas. Can Sean convince the naive omega that his mother is not who she claims to be, or will the evil witch gain a new plaything? Caspian Untangled is the second book in Legends of the Packs, a collection of your favorite fairy tales retold in the modern world with shifters, alphas, omegas, and male pregnancy. The books can be read out of order, but for maximum enjoyment it is recommended to start with book one, Ginger Fella.
My name is Kaydee Robins. Reading has always been a passion of mine. In middle and high school, I would participate in the summer reading programs at the local library, often winning many prizes. My mom called me a hermit because I’d rather be in my room reading a book than outside or with my friends. In high school, I discovered my love for books also extended to plays; thus, my passion for theatre was born. My favorite was working behind the scenes, creating colorful lighting effects.
I followed my passion in college and obtained an associate’s in theatre arts. I also wrote short stories and fan fiction (don’t judge). While I loved the theatre, I quickly learned that it wasn’t practical to do for a living unless I got a break. So I started studying web and graphic design and did theatre as a hobby. Four years later, I had a bachelor’s in information technology, followed by a master’s a couple of years later.
Today, I work as a system administrator in a NOC (network operations center), where I monitor my companies network for server issues. Since a NOC is 24×7, I work in 12-hour shifts giving me literally half the month off to work on my hobbies.
In 2019, I decided that I was going to start writing again. My kids were finally old enough that I could concentrate more on my hobbies than theirs. I published my first book, A Spy and his SEAL, at the end of August. In addition, I design all the covers for my books,
I learned long ago. I like reading all kinds of romances, straight, gay, bisexual; it doesn’t matter. My favorite being gay paranormal. Nothing beats a good book about fated mates, shifters, and male pregnancy. Another top pick is action/suspense romance. What’s better than falling in love while dodging bullets and saving lives?
As for my personal life, I am a cisgender straight woman. I am married to a wonderful man who supports me for my weird habits and interests. He is a stay at home dad taking care of our daughter and two sons. When I’m not working, I’m reading, writing, playing video games, or watching my favorite dramas. I also bake bread, mainly sourdough, and have started using my starter in just about any baked products.
This book was interesting. It was a whole new take on a familiar story and it went places I didn't predict. As a reader I often try to figure out where the story will be going before it gets there, and for parts of this story I did, but that stopped after the halfway point. The last few twists I did not predict and the last chapter made me want to cry, as well as the epilogue making me want to read the next book in the series. The characters are well developed and I love the fact that there aren't just strong representation for LGBTQIA+ relationships, but it's also realistic in the fact that it won't always be accepted. Especially the struggle many finds regarding being the second sibling to come out to their parents. Another great thing was that it showed that just because someone says they're sorry, you don't have to forgive them until you're ready. And the longterm effects of trauma and isolation.
Honestly, for this book I only have one main complaint that isn't a big deal, but keeps it from a five star for me. Parts of the scenes and the dialogue are cliche and things are rushed. Personally I believe most of that comes from it being a really short book, which makes more realistic and slow development difficult. I will definitely be interested in reading the next book.
A bit slow to get off the ground but once it gets there it is a most delight surprise. I absolutely loved how Caspian found his feet and inner strength, his change was so funny and I cackled at him standing up for himself. A surprise mating leads to unexpected coupling but brings about loss too. I am so happy we see powers emerging and the big action ending was a massive shock and very emotional but we do get a teaser into what is going on with Caleb and I can't wait to find out.
Great retelling of Rapunzel in this MM shifter romance. The author brings strong characters in Caspian and Sean and weaves an adventurous ,fast paced story. I enjoyed reading.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book. All opinions in this review are my own and freely given.
Liked this book, being held in a tower is unreal for this omega and to find out he is a wolf and that its not his mother that is keeping him in the tower he gets out with help from his mate
I loved this book and I have absolutely no hesitation in recommending it! Lovely omegaverse retelling of Rapunzel. I don't want to give spoilers for this book, I want to urge readers to immerse themselves in this absolute delight.
I liked this story. Though a bit predictable it was a cute read. I like how some of the characters used the word feck as it made me smile each time. I liked Sean from the beginning. Caspian grew on me. This story was fast pace and an easy read. I’m excited to read Caleb’s story.
Book 2 of Kaydee Robins’s Legends of the Pack series is a retelling of the fairytale Rapunzel. Caspian has been locked in a tower for the entirety of his life. He knows nothing of life outside beyond the little his “mother” allows him to read or watch on TV. So when Sean suddenly appears, Caspian’s world is rocked... in more ways than one.
This is an omegaverse mm shifter romance. The world Kaydee Robins created is detailed and unique, with well-developed characters, each with their own distinct quirks and personalities. While it can be read on its own, the danger following the characters is a continuation from book 1, and will likely continue into book 3. But while the ending sets up the next book, Caspian and Sean’s story does not end on a cliffhanger.
I love the mm twist for these classic fairytales. And while Robins gives enough information that we can easily tell what tale the book follows, she puts enough of a spin on it that the story never feels overdone or stale. It was a fun adventure. Well edited and a blast to read. Can’t wait for the next!
A lovely fairytale's own interpretation. Loved the story and all characters. Even I missed the first book, which I will definitely have to catch up with, it was still possible to follow the plot and understand the interactions of the characters. They show up again from first book and so will do in the next one, too. The most necessary parts will be refreshed quickly for whole understanding. Anyhow, reading in order is maybe advisable but not necessary, at least for this one. I loved the mixing of wolves and foxes in here as well as the whole fated mates thematic, which give a little steam to the mix. Characters, as used to be in fairytales, are clearly described as good or evil. Yes, of course it might be a bit predictable, but hey, all fairytales are predictable, and we know how this one ends. But the way the author creates it for us is still a lovable and sweet one. I found the balance between paranormal and real-world-life was just a great feature which made me smirk many times. By times I found it a bit rushed, but it is still a great story for just winding down and escape into another world. For this I am absolutely looking forward to the third book. I received this book for free but leave a review freely and voluntarily because I really enjoyed reading it.
Recomendable.
I liked this one better than the first story. Still could use some editing and character development. As far as world building, it's basically nonexistent. It all takes place in modern times with everything basically the same except shifters, magick and ABO designations exist. I don't know if there are other types of mythological creatures but so far wolves and foxes have been the main two introduced and a brief mention of bears in both books. I think I will at least read the next one because I want to see Caleb get his HEA.
I really enjoyed this Rapunzel retelling. Caspian is a total sweetheart who really blossoms throughout the story. Sean is a fox shifter, loyal to his friend Alpha Brody. As part of the rescue team to bring Caspian home to his true family, Sean wasn't counting on finding his mate. This was a fast paced story with plenty of twists and surprises. The ending was intense and I can't wait to see where this series goes.
I’m so glad I tried this book in the series , it’s not got the errors of book one. As I said before this is a great plot line and now it’s been edited it’s worth 5*. Highly recommended series
Tidak ada Irish dialects, thank God! Sama seperti buku pertama, terlalu banyak narasi dan inner monologue. Yang paling penting adalah dialog diantara kedua MCnya dan itu sangat kurang!
