Wild horses couldn’t drag this couple to happily ever after…right?
Alistair has a job to do, and he plans to succeed no matter what. So, he’ll find a way to increase profits at one of his family’s outback cattle ranches—even if he must fight the stubborn (and entirely too lovely) station manager every step of the way.
Murphy loves Southern Cross Station as if it were her own…but it’s not. So, she has no choice but to tolerate the owner’s billionaire son. That doesn’t mean she has to make the charming jerk’s job any easier, though…
When a common goal unites them in a way they never expected, can these opposites set aside their differences long enough to save the day—and maybe fall in love while they’re at it?
Edith MacKenzie or Eddie Mac to her friends is an Australian author of sweet and wholesome contemporary cowboy romance. They say in literary circles to write what you know and Eddie has certainly taken that to heart. Before embarking on a writing career she trained horses professionally and brings that wealth of knowledge to her writing.
Now a mum to a boy and girl, as well as wife, she delights with her tales of strong cowgirls and rugged cowboys and their adventures in finding love. When not weaving the love stories of her characters, she enjoys hanging out with her family and animals, as well as reading, fishing and camping
Red Dust and the Billionaire is a Novella by Edith Mackenzie. The romance is set in the red dust of Australia and I found this book wildly entertaining. Alistair is a Billionaire with an aversion to marriage and he is not to keen on work. Murphy is the new Station Manager of the Northeast Cross Station which handles cattle. After Alistair’s grandfather died and his Dad takes control of the company, Alistair is set to the Northern Territory to see why things are not productive. Sparks fly between Alistair and Murphy. After a while, they must work together to save the wild horses from being killed. This joint project changes them and their station. I read this book in one setting because I couldn’t put the book down. I enjoyed the characters and how the story builds and grows to a perfect ending. I hope Edith Mackenzie writes a sequel because I want lots more of this story. I received an arc for free and am leaving my review voluntarily.
Ms. Mackenzie's descriptions made life in the outback on a cattle station come alive for me. I enjoyed seeing it through the eyes of both Murphy, the manager, and Alastair, the weathly owner. The Australian slang and terms confused me at times, but googling them cleared up my confusion and taught me something!
I received an ARC from the author. The opinions expressed in this review are solely my own.
Alistair was sent to check on one of the family's operations to see why it wasn't giving the return on investment that his dad expected. When he got there, he was surprised to find that the new manager, Murphy, was a lady. Murphy was the reason the cattle station wasn't operating at full capacity. I really enjoyed the book.
This is book one of a new series. This is a story of two totally different people butting heads but all the while being strongly attracted to each other. Very enjoyable read.
As I read this book my mind pictured what I was reading. Outback Australia came alive for me. I love the treatment of what some consider pests and the wonderful solution provided. As Alistair realised Murphy's dream and saw a way for her to achieve it. The courage and wonder that to me is Australia's outback strengthened my soul. Well done another great book Edith can't wait for the next one in this series
Outback woman and rich man All she wants to do is run the ranch properly - and save the horses. All he wants to do is make sure the ranch is being run profitably. Can they do both? This is a superb book and I enjoyed it a lot! I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
This is a nice, clean romance set on an the amazing cattle ranch in Australia. The story is a really pleasant read but the best part was the environment of the ranch. How nice it would be to actually visit there and it see it and the brumbies for myself. I won a copy of this book in a Goodreads giveaway for this honest review.
I really enjoy this book it’s a fast paced story, the characters are well developed and the description of the setting is beautiful, the plot is good make you want to keep reading to see what’s going to happen. A sweet story with plenty of detail and description that I could see the story unfolded. As book one in a series it draws the reader in and leaves them wanting to see what the next chapters are. The author provides fantastic detail and information regarding the plot and character development. I female in charge of a cattle ranch with a huge heart standing up to "the man".

I loved the vision and creativity of these two. Bottom line is important but there's different ways to achieve it. They had some good giggles getting there.
Red Dust and The Billionaire ~ Billionaires Lonely Hearts Club bk.1 By Edith Mackenzie. I love Edith's storytelling she brings the characters to life. This is book one in her new series and we do have characters from her previous series the Billionaire Hearts Ranch. I love reading books that bring previous characters back.
Edith's writing is good in that she draws the reader into the story from the very beginning and keeps you there until the very last page. Red Dust & the Billionaire is extremely very well written, with very strong characters and an excellent plot, you can feel that you are there too.
Thank you, Edith, for this excellent book, and I look forward to reading the next one in the series. I highly recommend Red Dust & The Billioniare! 5*+
Very interesting plot. The lay of the land and predicament of the station was very well written, informative and so detailed, which I really enjoyed because it made story more relatable. Light humor is also a plus and the "enemies" theme added some entertaining antsy. To me, the romance is secondary although their attraction was evident, their chemistry didn't seem to build enough foundation, so kind of seems like a rushed insta-love which may just be the preferred writing style regardless I still want to know what's to come next in this series. 3 1/2* I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
I read this book in one day! 😄 It has been quite some time since I’ve done that!
The setting was everything. The descriptions were fantastically detailed and made me feel like I was in the outback on a cattle ranch. Reading both Alastair and Murphy’s points of view kept the plot moving at a perfect pace and allowed insights from their vastly different perspectives. Their romance was very sweet, though I wish it had been explored more deeply. The secondary characters were a lot of fun and added humor to the story. The story itself was entertaining and like I said, I read it in one day! There were a lot of terms I was unfamiliar with, but I honestly had a lot of fun looking them up and learning more about Australian lingo.
If you like billionaire romances, I would highly recommend it!!
I received an ARC from BookSirens in exchange for an honest review.
Alistair needs to impress his father and that means going out into the middle of nowhere to try and sort out one of their struggling stations. What he didn’t bargain for was falling for the station manager Murphy. She tries to hate him for coming in and telling her what to do but he soon wins her round. It was a pleasant and easy read, not the best book I have read by this author but still enjoyed it. I received a copy from BookSirens and leave this review voluntarily.
