Summer Witchin'

Rate this book
A little magic makes summer vacation that much hotter!

It should be the perfect vacation for Max and her hot wizards. Summer break in the paradise of Key Witch, meeting Dale's wonderful family, bikinis and sunbathing on the beach, and a host of magical delights hidden to mortal eyes to share with her deliciously handsome men.

Or it would be, if Beth Ann and the Scarlette family didn't come to town and bring with them a series of seemingly coincidental accidents that paint Max and all half-mortal witches in a terrible light.

Well, if Beth Ann and her family of wicked witches wants to play with fire, Max and her wizards will show them what it means to get burned!

Erin Bedford is an otaku, recovering coffee addict, and Legend of Zelda fanatic. Her brain is so full of stories that need to be told that she must get them out or explode into a million screaming chibis. Obsessed with fairy tales and bad boys, she hasn’t found a story she can’t twist to match her deviant mind full of innuendos, snarky humor, and dream guys.

On the outside, she’s a work from home mom and bookbinger. One the inside, she’s a thirteen-year-old boy screaming to get out and tell you the pervy joke they found online. As an ex-computer programmer, she dreams of one day combining her love for writing and college credits to make the ultimate video game!

Until then, when she’s not writing, Erin is devouring as many books as possible on her quest to have the biggest book gut of all time. She’s written over thirty books, ranging from paranormal romance, urban fantasy, and even scifi romance.

This is a well written book with strong well developed characters and an entertaining story line. The author brings action ,intrigue and steam and takes you on an exciting adventure that had me hooked from start to finish. She moves the story fluidly with her detailed and descriptive writing ,painting her scenes perfectly. I loved and would recommend this book.

This is book five of the Academy of Witches series and sees Max (Maxine Mancaster) Norman and her boyfriend Dale Varnes setting off to fly from her home in Georgia to his parents place on Key Witch, Florida, to meet his parents for the first time and enjoy the summer holidays with her other three boyfriends twins Ian and Paul Broomstein, and Aidan Templar. Max was brought up in the human world and only found out she was a witch some three years ago. Her mother was a witch who left the witching world and married a human palaeontologist. She didn’t get on with her parents, especially her mother, who came from a well-known witching family, the Mancasters. Max insisted on going by Norman, her father’s surname and had only met her grandparents a few years ago. Since coming into her magical powers, which her mother had bound to allow her to experience the human world, she has been attending the Winchester Academy college for witches in Georgia, and that was where she met her four wizard boyfriends!

She has already met Aidan’s parents and that went well, but her visit to the twin’s parents was anything but good. They had plans for their sons to marry into powerful families, of full-blooded witches, not a half-breed like Max! Max and Dale’s flight to Florida doesn’t go quite as planned and they end up having to make alternative plans to get to his parents. The paradise of Key Witch is hidden from human eyes and until this year, had never allowed half breeds to come to it. Dale’s family aren’t prestigious but were charged by the Watchers to be in charge of Key Witch and everything going on there, with the hotel, restaurants and even the shops on the island. Any problems, the Varnes family deal with and if they can’t then the Watchers are called in to sort out the issue. If it is serious enough, then the Watchers would take over, the ultimate in law enforcement in the witching world as such! Max is going to be a bit overwhelmed when she meets his whole family, as he has four sisters! Selene and Madison are twins and are both married, while Rachelle has a girlfriend Zara, whilst the youngest is Emilia who is only twelve.

Her boyfriends have a lot of plans for her and their summer together, before Ian and Aidan have to get jobs, having graduated from the academy before the summer. Then she will only get to see two of her boyfriends at weekends or after work when they can, so this summer is really important to them all. Aidan’s seer abilities seem to have gone on the fritz since he arrived on the island and their first special day together almost turns into a disaster, as Max has a near death experience. Add to that, the presence of her arch enemy Beth Ann Scarlette and her parents on the island, making her life hell as usual. As the days go on, a series of unfortunate incidents occur, all seeming to put a bad spin on Max’s presence and behaviour, as well as any other half-human witches on the island in a terrible light! Why Beth Ann and her parents are nearly always there when these incidents involving Max occur, seems a bit suspicious to Max and even her friend Sabrina. Ever since Max managed to beat Beth Ann at the Games and took her ex-boyfriend Ian as one of her own boyfriends, Beth Ann has been more than nasty and vindictive to her. The expressions on Beth Ann and her mother’s faces are joyous and smirking, each time Max is accused of yet another misdeed. As the Varnes family are supposed to deal with all these sorts of issues, the Scarlettes take matters into their own hands, forcing bad press about Max and half mortal witches, as well as calling in the Watchers, stating the Varnes aren’t doing their job!

Max has been used to dealing with bullies, especially coming so late to the witching world, and the prejudice against people like her who are half human. She has done a lot of work on integration for humans, a program Max helped start and which her best friend Callie is going to be attending. Now the threat isn’t just against her, the whole Varnes family and their place on the island is being threatened, as is any other half human half magical people like her, to be able to visit this magical paradise. They have lit a fire under Max and she won’t allow Beth Ann and her family, as well as any other prestigious families with such prejudice opinions, to put her and those she loves down, nor any others like herself who are new to this magic world! Max is in trouble for not telling her parents and especially her grandparents, her grandmother being one of those who thinks more of her family name than she does for her estranged daughter or granddaughter! Max needs to figure out a plan to prove her innocence and the guilt of the Scarlettes, before everything crashes down around her and her boyfriends. The rules of the magical world may be different, but she should still be able to prove her innocence, rather than be assumed guilty on the evidence of one family and their fellow prejudice pure-bloods! An interesting read with lots of new magical experiences and family relationships, fun with the boyfriends and then having to battle for what is right. Our heroine is taking to the beach with her four beaus, hoping for some sun and sand. Unfortunately, her nemesis booked the same excursion, so instead she gets a rumble on the beach.

This is book five of the series and the conclusion (at least for now). In spite of all that, the book actually does pretty well as a standalone, although you will be missing some of the backstory.

This is a paranormal romance with witches and a reverse harem. Well, and nominally an academy setting, but that does not impact this story (see "beach" above). The story is well written and easy to read with an intriguing cast of characters. I liked our heroine and her men as they seemed to fit well together. The nemesis was also fun, although not particularly likeable, but then that is the plan. The plot moved along at a nice pace and included a nice blend of action, magic and humor that made it a lot of fun to read. Overall, a very entertaining story and now I want to go back and read the earlier books.

Highly recommended.

Note: I received an advanced review copy in exchange for my honest review.

I was excited to have the opportunity to read more about Max and her boys. I didn't read much beforehand as I wanted to be just able to read the story without pre-conceived ideas.

As per the past books: the story itself was good, characters were just as interesting as before, and of course we were allowed more glimpse into their relationships. Seeing Max's struggle with the incidents she's gotten through but also seeing more about the family relationships was great.
I also loved seeing more about the world she lives in now and how those lives further affect her boys too.

I'm avoiding spoilers as best I can - but I can simply sum it up as it was a fun and great read. A series I was glad to be bale to revisit. If you liked the previous books, it's an obvious and no-brainer to read this one too. IF you're new to the series - start at the beginning to really get a better idea of the whole story.

I was happy with this new adventure, and in no way was disappointed.

The final book in Maxine's story was just like her - volatile, full of trouble, fiery, and to certain extent unpredictable. The only thing you can be sure of was there will be one large mess after another wherever she goes, regardless if she is at fault or not. Now leaving for the summer to spend some quality time at Key Witch with her boyfriends, Max is far from the school, her parents, and even her closest friends, meeting Dale's family instead - and also another family she would preferably never see again. The Scarlettes and their opinions shaped basically the whole book, providing a nice contrast to Max and her four boys, the Varnes family, and even to Sabrina. There are new characters that influence the story whether in a positive or a negative way, and I quite enjoyed this refreshing piece - new environment, new characters, yet old feuds. On the other side, some questions were finally answered, and I had to say I closed this series satisfied.

Max hopes to spend a summer on Key Witch, a cloaked island that was only recently opened to mixed heritage half mortals.

Dale and his family the Varnes are the ones responsible for Key Witch, apparently a bone of contention for some higher born witches. The Broomstein brothers also have family property on Key Witch.

With Aidan also on hand, the plan is for a sexy summer of fun at the beach, before Ian and Aidan need to look for jobs, and Max heads back to the Academy with Paul and Dale.

Intriguing spin on discrimination and family values, colliding with a witchly justice system that is unusual, weighted, and maybe filled with a different sort of justice than Max anticipated

Steamy fun, scary drama and ongoing reverse harem romance and adventure

Max and her guys are out of school for the summer and have gone to the cloaked paranormal island to relax and have fun. Beth Ann and her family show up and suddenly Max is suspected of things she did not do. Her guys have to figure it out or their relationship is in jeopardy. The characters and storyline in this series are terrific. The mysteries are well thought out, with unusual conclusions. Witchy justice is not like ours at all. Loved the playful banter and sass - plenty of laughs with the group.
Wonderful ending and I can wait to read more by this author.

Summer Witchin is the fifth book in the Academy of Witches series by Erin Bedford.

What should have been the perfect summer vacation for Max and her hot guys will quickly be incident after incident. Coincidence?? Or something else is going on. Also that to ruins things a bit more if Beth Ann and the Scarlette family didnt come to the same place as them. Really love reading about Max and her guys again and their vacantions in Key Witch.

Max (Maxine) is looking forward to meeting Dale's (one of her boyfriends) family, it should be great summer vacation, but trouble seems to be following Max. Can Max and her allies stop her enemies wicked plans for Max? More importantly will Dale's family like her? I liked all the colourful characters, and the hidden magical world that sits up against the normal world, Max was easy to like and her men (Dale, Ian, Paul and Aidan) seem to want to do what's best for her and protect her.

I love this series. I was so glad to see another book in the series. This book had all its usual but this time Max and her guys were on summer vacation. With everyone trying to enjoy their vacation there just had to be someone there to screw it up for everyone. With the help of family and friends Max was able to find out what was going on and right the wrongs that were done. I hope to see what happens with Max and everyone once they return to school. I can't wait for another book.

Max goes with Dale to Key Witch to meet his family for the summer. The other guys also goes. It's not going to be the fun summer they thought as Beth Ann and her family are there and up to no good. It's a whirlwind ride for Max and the guys as one event after another takes place. Can Max prove the Scarlettes are up to no good or will this be the summer that ends her? It's a great conclusion to the series. I volunteered to read this book via Booksprout.

Max and her men were all set to have a wonderful summer vacation in Key Witch. Instead, with the arrival of Beth Ann and the Scarlette family, they will have to endure continuous “accidents” that put them in a bad light. Could this just be coincidence, or something deliberate? And what will Max do about it if it’s intentional, as she assumes?

This was a good story line and fun to see the familiar characters. Grab your copy and share their summer adventure!

Max and the guys are back in book five of the Academy of Witches series. Loved getting to meet the guy's families and of course the mean girls are on the island too. This is a fun, entertaining read with quirky characters, humor, drama, accidents, and so much more. The writing is well done and I definitely recommend this series and this author to everyone looking for something great to read. I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book.

I really loved this book. At the beginning I thought Max and her boys were going to have a great summer, when things started happening on the way to Key Witch max didn't know that things were going to get worse for her. Throughout the book and all the bad things that were happening, I was trying to figure out who was behind it all. I was correct with my guess and was hoping that justice would be served. It was a really good ending to the book and the series.

I enjoyed this story like the others previously in the series, but this one seemed concentrated on the sex and took away from the enjoyment of the world for me. I didn't mind all the sex, but this book in the series seemed like it centered around the sex instead of the magic and the world. Aside from that I loved how we got an entirely new location in the world and got to meet more of the guys family. This was still a great read but it didn't quite live up to the rest of the series for me.

Some of the names is this, wow, you’ve got Wally Woodstaff and Chad von wood as 2 examples. Max and Dale are off to spend the summer on Key Witch with his parents plus Ian, Aiden and Paul. Drastic actions are taken after Max is framed. Working as a team they may be able to save themselves and others like Max.

Summer vacation

Who doesn't love going on a summer vacation? Max is looking forward to spending time with her guys and having a fun, relaxing time. Then Beth Ann and strange "incidents" show up. Well, there goes the fun and relaxing vacation. I have really enjoyed this series.

To say I was excited to get this book was a under statement! How this author makes books speak to you is defined by her writing skills. Love the interaction between her lovers Dale, Aidan, Paul and Ian, yes four of them. This story is rousing and the storytelling speaks for itself. A disastrous summer vacation ends up a surprise for everyone. Good reading!

Max and her boys go on vacation but of course it is not simple. Craziness occurs but also see more of Max and her boys. It was fun to read and entertaining too. The characters and the story line were fun and interesting too. Grabbed my attention and kept me reading to the end like a good book is supposed to do.

This installment is crazy good! There’s a lot of humor, but there’s also a lot of not so good witching going around. It’s Max’s first summer away from home, and of course it’s an awesome adventure. We hang out with all the boyfriends, even Grandmother Mancaster. Loved it! Highly recommended!

Lighthearted? Ok, but really, Summer Witchin’ (Academy of Witches, Book 5) is nothing more than a superb writer, Erin Bedford, having just plain loads of fun and taking we lucky readers along for the ride. I had a big smile throughout this book. Great characters and a, yes, truly fun plot line. Easy to highly recommend.

Max and her guys are at it again... more sexy times but also plenty of danger and drama as it seems that suddenly Max is having the worst luck. Will she be able to bring the Scarlette family down, or will they be the death of her? An exciting read.
