This book was very informational and helpful without a doubt. The author has successfully described the things very clearly and I learnt many new things from this book. The author first established the fact that a healthy mind is the most important factor in having a long life and how important a positive mindset is. She also talked about how stress is hampers our mind and it leads to health problems and depression. If we are stressed then the body ages early.
And of course, the author told extensively about the importance of good sleep on our health and the threats possessed by lack thereof. Less sleep can cause severe health issues which includes inflammation and short attention span and inattentiveness.
One thing I liked the most about this book was that there were yoga instructions with clear understandable illustrations which I personally found very helpful. Some nutritional foods are also described in details which is also very useful and important if we want to live a healthier life.
Also, I liked the way this book was written in such a simple but comprehensive manner that everything the author said was quick to grasp and understand.
Overall, this book was a very helpful read which tells us how to improve our lifestyle. I would definitely recommend this book!
Life is unpredictable and nobody can say it for sure the way it may end! With the unexpectedly changing world and its new-age evolution, the habits and lifestyle of people are changing as well and with better health infrastructure and services, the bar of health issues and diseases is rising as well. That's what Nutritional Therapist and Holistic Cancer Coach Rachna Chhachhi talk about in the first few chapters of this book, she brings some atrocious disturbing realities to the reader's attention and makes him realize how unexpected life is. but she doesn't just address the problems but throughout the book offers solutions as well.
What I learned from this book is that having a good healthy lifestyle is everything an individual needs. It's not about forcefully eating the right food, exercising, or doing things under fear but it's about keeping a healthy lifestyle when everything that an individual has to do to keep himself healthy in all areas of life.
Author Rachna Chhachhi doesn't give any accustomed advice but everything she has advised and suggested in this book is authentic with backed up by scientific facts and research. She suggests various ways to improve the coherence between mind and body through breathing exercises, diet, exercise, and gentle yoga to improve the longevity of life.
She also shares anecdotes of people who are the epitome of having a healthy and happy life without many efforts but just because of the lifestyle they have created for themselves. This book is a phenomenal amalgamation of the author's expertise on topics she discussed, scientific reasons she stated, practical approaches she presented that can be easily implemented in life. What worked for me the most was the breathing exercises and gentle yoga she recommended for several benefits.
Overall, this book will make its readers the most health-conscious they can ever be and they will be grateful for it.
⭐⭐⭐⭐ Thank you @harpercollinsin for this review copy!
Living a healthy life has always been a trend and a necessity for as long as we all can remember. However, in recent times, the need for a better and strong immune system has taken the front seat. If you are also someone striving for the same, then this is the book for you.
We have always heard of different ways in which we can prevent or cure a disease once it has taken roots in our body, but seldom someone tells us how to disease-proof our body or to embrace a lifestyle that is sans illness.
The author, through this book, gives you a step-by-step guide to holistically change your mind as well as your body towards a version of you with stronger immunity. The author focuses on the connection between our mind and body, their interdependency through neuroscience, the concept of inflammation and toxins, the balance between the different elements of our body, the right foods and the exercises, all clearly and descriptively.
I have read many health blogs and books dealing with a healthy lifestyle but have always found a common ideology in them. But in this book, the holistic approach by the author intrigued me a lot. Every time I found something new, I appreciate the fact that the author has backed every point of hers with proper research and examples. The inclusions of yogic poses, meal plans, scheduled daily tasks and recipes were a bonus for me.
Even though I feel like inculcating all these changes at the same time will not be a feasible option for me, but after reading this book, I am ready to take the baby steps towards a disease-free, better-quality life with a stronger immune system.
Too much greed; money is driving us. Without health, money is of no use. Look after your health, your body, as that is the vehicle you have.
Well said isn't it? These are the lines of this amazing book which is full of lessons from the different clients/ persons the author has interacted with plus so many guidelines from the author herself. This book focuses on a bringing in the changes and reversing back the cause of disease which is degrading our health. This book aims to motivate the reader to explore the different experiences such a meditation, yoga thus changing to healthy lifestyle. The author has used a super friendly narration. The different perspectives of attaining a healthy life are being discussed well here. The book consists of exercises, illustrations showing different types of yoga plus some nutrition foods are being discussed in detail. I loved the way the author has included in the recipe of different foods which are pretty good for our health, aiming to make the readers understand that attaining a healthy lifestyle isn't an issue instead all we need is some consistency and determination to stick to attain the goal. It's a beautiful blend of all the elements of guide from the author including in her personal interactions with different people which makes it even more interesting to read. It is a well penned and enlightening book. The language is simple and easy making it a informative read for all types of readers. The narration is super friendly as mentioned before. I will definitely recommend this.

What do you think can be the definition of being alive? To just breathe or the definitely is much more deeper than that? For me yes. And after reading this book it came out even more clear and distinct to me that to be just able to breathe and walk isn't what a person should aspire in their life. To live a healthy live, eat healthy, maintain a healthy lifestyle, breathe healthy and sleep healthy is what makes us internally alive. Rachna Chhachhi goes even more deeper by giving examples from people who have recovered from chronic illness, including she herself, just by amending their lifestyles. . Majority of us don't know the level of impact our mind and the energy that we absorb does on us. Nothing is more powerful than our mind. The will to do something or change something just needs to be registered by our mind and then all we need to do is implement the work physically. The less we let negativity to attract us the more health or our mind will make us feel. The author gave an example of an woman who was on antidepressants for 25 years. She was living with her toxic husband adding more to her perils but surprising when she finally decided to leave her husband, her depression started to get better each day. That's the thing, sometimes we don't even realise but the negativity around us is enough to implant a negative energy within us. . Rachna Chhachhi verified everything she said with research works and experiments done under famous Universities. She have very beautifully explained the complex it of mind and body, and how we can balance both. There was nothing complicated vocabularies used in this book. It was a simple, a lot informative and relaxing book to read about.

Due to current coronavirus pandemic, the concerns regarding immunity have become more important. In recent time, we've learned that wellness isn't just about extending lifespan but health span, too
In 'ALIVE! Lifestyle Changes to Age-Proof Your Mind and Body', nutritional therapist and cancer coach Rachna Chhachhi has shared a comprehensive living plan. The author herself has suffered a major health crisis that would have left most defeated but she began her mission to help others. she is indeed an inspiration!

This book also helped me understand the connection between our immune system and our mind. This book will definitely clear out all the misinformation that you've been fed in the name of wellness and health. The author has also provided some healthy recipes.
The book is filled with clinical research data in the form of inspirational journeys. Author has interviewed many people to provide us this comprehensive guide. All the data is quoted in the reference sections and hence one can know that everything that the author is recommending has scientific and anecdotal proof. Kudos to her for providing such a well researched and well drafted book!
If you're looking for some clear and actionable advice to increase your immunity and slow down the aging process, then definitely read this phenomenal guide.
First of all, I am thankful that this book came at the very right time to me when I was at my lowest self. My health was not good and it didn't show any improvement even though I was having all medicines. This made me realize that I was doing a lot of things in my life quite wrong.
The most important thing for a human body is 7-8 hrs perfect sleep. And what was I doing?? I had the worst sleeping pattern!!! Most of the days I slept at 5 or 6 am and my sleep was obviously disturbed in between.
Nutritional food, the amount of food we eat, and the time we eat are the next important thing. Well, I was on junk food most of the time.
We are an amalgamation of body, mind & soul. But, was my mind peaceful? No!! (Lot of factors here)
As a result, I woke up cranky. I was always in bad mood. I had anger issues. I tried to stop talking & avoiding people.
So, you see this book helped me in having a reflection upon myself.
This book helps you to start from scratch. Each and every step towards detoxification is given with the proper diet. And guess what?? Recipes are also there for each one of them. How cool is that!!!! You'll also get a lot of ways to do yoga w.r.t the problem you are facing.
There are various case studies that shows how this holistic lifestyle have helped a lot of people to actually reverse the diseases that they where suffering from.
This is written in simple language without any tough medical jargon. This is a perfect book if you want to change your lifestyle to age-proof your mind and body.
In this world where technology has taken over. People have taken their life for granted but also want to live longer and lavish life. English marathon of winning the race live overly life people have forgotten about taking care of your health. Just talking about their appearance in taking care of how they look and your physique doesn't mean one have a good health.
People have forgotten rest, spending hours on phone and working late in this process of working and lack of sleep, lack of rest doesn't allows the body to rest and recover from the stress. People make promises that they will live longer and happy life but without proper rest a person is only getting closer to an early death.
The author in the book talks about how once health is important. Just being healthy on the outside does not mean one is healthy on the inside. The author talks about how a person can make their lifestyle better by doing simple changes in the life and adding things like meditation, yoga and pranayam etc, can help lead a better life. The book is a collection of of encounters or stories people have told which have inspired the author.
The book is written beautifully with clear meaning. The author have described the content of the book beautifully. The cover is fabulous and very eye catching and the writing style is simple and elegant I would totally recommend this book to everyone school would wanna improve their lifestyle.
the title itself is interesting! we have always known that our mental health is important, but we never knew why and how to control it. from this book, it is mentioned that our mental health (including stress) impacts greatly to our bodies, such as it gives access to diseases, and that's why it's important to take control of it. By controlling our minds, relaxing, and having equal balance between our mental and physical state allows the body to 'reverse' our diseases and slows down anti-aging. The stories (examples) of people mentioned in this book keeps me amazed. They are people in their 80s and 90s but are still in great shape with no diseases at all and they still have sharp minds, turns out they have implemented holistic nutrition for years. Also other stories such as those who have diseases that cannot be cured, according to their doctors, were pretty much cured when they decided to have an equilibrium between their minds and physical body.
This pretty much sums up the whole book: 1. Always eat your vegetables and fruits (have them in every meal) 2. It's okay to have cheat meals (but just a little) each day 3. Eat just a little, but avoid inflammatory foods as much as you can 3. Do yoga and breathing exercises (these help your mind to relax a bit) 4. Exercise (5-6 days / a week for an hour or more), but don't over-exercise 5. Sleep well
Overall it's a well-written book, easy to understand, and you can really learn a lot from it!

Absolutely perfect and gorgeous cover, I'm in love with it. Nutritional therapist and cancer coach Rachna Chhachhi offers a four step plan to manage nutrition, exercise, sleep, and stress in this well-written book.
The book begins with a hauntingly truthful quote, "When too many people around us die, at an age and time they were not meant to, it's time to review the ugly truth."
It's horrible that people have been dying at a young age they weren't meant to, and not just due to Covid-19 but also before that. Our bodies, we haven't been taking care of them. And our minds. Taking care of mental health and emotional well-being is equally important as taking care of physical health.
A few takeaways are to include moderate exercise, yoga to our lifestyle, meditate, unplug, relax and enjoy, listen to some light music, assigning Me-Time. The idea is to inculcate lifestyle changes to improve the quality of life and slow down the ageing process, or to age gracefully. The book has a 15-day detox plan, including mild exercises, details of healing foods, recipes to repair our bodies.
The ultimate four step programme asks us to 1- eliminate what harms us, 2- imbibe what heals us, 3- discover our mind-body balance, 4- nurture our healing lifestyle.
The book is a must-read especially during these weird times and it acts as a concoction of positivity and health-related wellness tips.
🎗First thing first, I really like the cover of this book, it suits the title. The author of this book discusses many areas of naturally repairing our bodies in order to improve our physical and emotional well-being. This book is jam-packed with useful information that has the potential to transform our lives.
🎗The main topic of this book is inflammation generated by numerous stress inducers, as well as our body's immunogenic response to it and how it affects our physical and mental health. This book stands out since everything is written out with the utmost concentration and care.
🎗Each problem has a viable solution in this book. It includes a step-by-step approach with clear recommendations for reducing and eliminating harmful toxins through the use of potent foods, drinks, and workouts. QOTD: At which age you've started reading and what did you felt that time? AOTD: I started reading when I was 13, and it was a magical experience that could not be shared in a line, definitely not!

Something that seems impossible is always reassumed as difficult, but author with her fluent skills and concise narration has made the theories simpler. Last but not the least the amazing book cover woven with a cool tittle to it adds up to it’s feature. I accept that I got drove to it by the cover and I believe that I was fortunate to read this. Everyone should try this for once atleast.
“Health is a state of complete mental, social and physical well-being, not merely the absence of disease or infirmity.” – World Health Organization, 1948
What WHO defined 72+ yrs ago, is an ageless definition of health and is at the core of Rachna Chhachhi's Alive. Through several real-life examples (including her own), Rachna has put down some golden rules by emphasizing balance in everything and a holistic approach towards body, mind, and soul to live an age-proof life.
What makes this book different is the approach towards a healthier life. Instead of prescribing a reactive "quick result guaranteed" recipe of losing weight and 'looking' healthy, what Rachna has prescribed is a simple and proactive recipe of reversing certain illnesses and 'feeling' healthy. With a great emphasis on regulated breathing, meditation, moderate and consistent exercise/yoga, balanced diet, sleep, and social well-being, this book is a proactive approach towards living a healthy life and feeling alive. If you need guidance and inspiration to start living a life that has proved its worth for many or those who don't want to be defined by their age, this book is what you need right now.
As I was first attempting a book which talks about nutrition , medical researchs , lifestyle , but this book and the author has my whole heart for writing this masterpiece . To be honest this book made me think a lot . Like it helped me to overcome Many myths about health. I really Adore a paragraph at the beginning where she compare a childhood life and health . The term conditioning when we were kids had changed the whole us. She says , we were allowed to climb trees , roll on to the floor with dog and many things after a point the term CONDITIONING came and which became a bribing system started to creat our pure mind to give and take one . She compared this with the health. She says we go to the doctor when we are ill or we face a problem . Which indirectly depicts you need an external help when you are in problem . Such important life lessons made me fall for this amazing book . Actually what she plotted and pointed out is perfectly correct thing . Talking about the book cover it's attractive and catchy so is the book title . Ratings five star? I can give something beyond that if I could . A must and highly recommended read .
You will have to create the path by walking yourself; the path is not ready-made, lying there and waiting for you. It is just like the sky: the birds fly, but they don't leave any footprints. You cannot follow them; there are no footprints left behind”. The lines bear total relevance with the book at hand. Delving further into the same, as stated previously it is quite imperative on the part of humans to breathe more and more life into what they live and the same remains the major essence of the book. Delving further, the author is a cancer coach herself and through the book has tried in an apt fashion to shell out the major techniques involved in ensuring a holistic living plan that would certainly help us to slow down the entire process of ageing and would fend off the diseases
It must be noted that the author has tried to introduce the readers with all the points in a holistic fashion and in a lucid manner and this makes it a must read for everyone who is willing to put more life into their lives.

As the world is heading towards an era that would be free of the coronavirus, it faces new challenges which require preparation in advance. “ALIVE! Lifestyle Changes to Age-Proof Your Mind and Body,” by Rachna Chhachhi, is a step in this direction. As the subtitle clarifies, the book is about bringing necessary changes in lifestyle so that a person is buckled up for the challenges that his mind and body would face. The author broadly bases the book on 4 premises, and “Alive!” revolves around them. Many people would be working towards their physical health, but mental health and Chhacchi’s work has the focus on that realm too. All readers, whether they read fiction or non-fiction should read this book as it would help them prepare for what lies ahead and is a product of the author’s experience.
